I too have been the lone picket at one senator's regional office and my reps local regional office. But I have educated many people who walk or drive by since they have told me they had never heard of cap and trade. My father watches ABC and didn't know what I was talking about after it passed. It is amazing the reaction one gets when you have factual signs and dress and look normal. My submarine veteran status and hat saying so also helps. I walk with what was once called a walking sign/ad sign. One on my back and one on my front with straps over my shoulders made out of card board with lined easel paper over it with the message. Works well outside of a crowd and where cities do not allow signs mounted on sticks - fear they can be used as weapons I guess. If you are a Navy vet, carrying the DONT TREAD ON ME Navy Jack from 1775 with red and white horizontal stripes with the serpent climbing up the stripes, which flies now on our ships after 9-11, gets attention and conversations started. I use an 11 foot collapsible alum tube that was once used to wash trucks as my flag pole and with a small carpenter pouch on my side to place the end in to make it easy to carry and picket.
