Smearing Jews on British TV
Oborne spends the hour making Britons believe that Jews have for generations been forcing their government to engage in policies that benefit only “a foreign power” and that the bullying is so severe that there is now no lobby so powerful in all of the United Kingdom. He never mentions the power of the Arab lobby! Just the Saudi and Gulf bloodstock, arms, and oil interests alone are enough to build an independent sovereign empire in this green and pleasant land. (Melanie Phillips has a few words to say on this.) There are eleven Muslim television channels in the UK but not one Jewish, Zionist, or Israeli one. There are 260,000 Jews in Britain and an estimated two million Muslims. There are so many Muslim organizations, think tanks, pressure groups, and charities including the Muslim Parliament, not to mention innumerable radical groups and mosques, that the idea of some sort of Jewish conspiracy to subvert the British government is nothing short of a dangerous calumny.
When I watched the program the first time around, I was so gripped with rage that I could not sit down. Even my most non-political, secular, pork-guzzling Jewish friends in the UK were ringing and texting me that they fully expected pogroms after this show. In turn my non-Jewish friends rang in alarm and high dudgeon, as if their family silver might be the next to disappear if these Zionists are not reined in.
What is significant is that the hate that spewed forth minutes after the documentary on various worldwide blogs shocked even Oborne himself in their ferocity against the Jewish people. The London Jewish News and Jewish Chronicle reported a spike in anti-Jewish messages on hate websites.
Meanwhile, on the weekend of November 21, I watched a news segment on the BBC about the big problem in Minneapolis with al-Qaeda supporters traveling to Somalia to participate in the war. The FBI is investigating what looks like a much larger problem than had first been uncovered. What I find intriguing about this story is that it tells us there are many active fifth-columnists in the United States that are worrying to the authorities and that are very likely taking up much more of their time at taxpayers’ expense than anyone could have envisaged. In Great Britain, here is Peter Oborne setting about trying to scare the British populace into thinking that at any moment all of the kingdom — even the crown jewels — will soon be owned by rich fifth-column Jews supporting violent settlers in Israel, and that we will all be forced to pay taxes to finance the Jewish state, our leaders having been threatened by said rich Jews “or else.” In reality, the 350-year-old Anglo-Jewish community is a loyal and decorous group; its war veterans marched with dignity on Remembrance Day despite anti-Jewish heckling.
A vigilant South African friend who came to Britain during apartheid has offered a compelling assessment of the Oborne program. He says it is “code” for the beginning of a wave of anti-Semitism officially sanctioned by Oborne’s conservative ruling classes. Whatever the purpose of this prime-time television special, it was a hateful polemic that showed how deeply runs the obsessional hatred of Israel that has so dominated the British media and public discourse in recent years. Shame on Channel Four.
And by the way, Peter — the show has turned my pork-eating, secular, Israel-uninterested Jewish friends into overnight Zionists and they are changing their Christmas donations from the Samaritans, Salvation Army, and Faisal Edhi funds into checks to Magen David Adom, Zaka, and Ort.

I saw this show, and as a non-Jewish British national I thought it was a disgrace. Lots of British people (Jewish or otherwise) support and admire Israel as a fellow democracy. This programme’s attempts to lump us all together as a shadowy behind the scenes organisation was disgusting.
Wow British Jews control the British government – they sure are doing a lousy job then in advancing their agenda since the U.K. is sliding towards Islamization and Britain can arguably called the most anti-Israel nation in Europe (although Sweden, Ireland, Spain and Norway can give them a run for their money for that coveted title).

If you read my PJM article ‘Why am I Broke at 55′ you will see why I am still here. I invested over 23 years in five British funds and they all collapsed 2003-2005. Also, I have been sick a lot ( before anyone accuses me of sponging off the NHS, please note I have had BUPA with my union/work group plan for 28 years.) I have just been diagnosed with invasive breast cancer with many months to come of surgery and radio/possible chemotherapy, so moving back is not so easy for me right now. Also, I stay because I have some wonderful British friends who have been rocks of Gibraltar over 20-30 years; their kindness and compassion compensate for the rot that seems to be bubbling up everywhere.

Israel has overplayed its hand by making swiss-cheese of the West Bank with Israeli settlements, thereby leaving insufficient contiguous land upon which to create a Palestinian state. Consequently, the only apparent solution is one state with equal rights for Palestinians. Until this or something similar happens, Israel and its supporters will be the subject of ever-increasing condemnation. So get ready for it.
I have met hundreds of English people in Israel over the years, both on kibbutz and in the cities. It is not necessarily that they have an affinity for Israel, but that they will travel anywhere that is warm. I never heard an anti-semitic comment from any of them. I think it is a large portion of the leftist government that hates Jews, not the public.
Over the past 20 years, I have met hundreds of British tourists in Israel. It is not because they have an affinity for Israel per se, but because they like to travel to a warm climate. I never heard a derogatory comment about Jews/Israel from any of them. The leftist government in the UK is certainly anti-Jewish, but I am not sure that the general population is as well.

Recently, there has been a large influx of Muslim immigrants to Europe. Many comment that this is a source of a new wave of anti-Semitism. I submit that there is no need for Muslims to blame; Anglo-Europeans are anti-semitic enough alone! Certainly, the Muslim traditions do not help the situation, but they are not the SOURCE of European anti-semitism. They merely fit in too well!

Islamic terrorism existed long before the reconstitution of the State of Israel. Read your history. Then you may want to check out the Barbary Pirates at the turn of the 19th century. These Muslims attacked American merchant-sailors, took the hostage, forced them to convert and enslaved them. There were some plans for the Channel 4 costs of switching from analog to digital broadcasting to be subsidised by 14 million pounds taken from the licence fee levied on the public. This was cancelled by the British government in November last year, after the European Commission expressed an opinion that it might be an illegal state subsidy. Channel 4 is not profitable and is still lobbying for government subsidy. Latest government idea is to partner Channel 4 with the profitable BBC Wordwide business.

700 prominent British Jews signed a decalration in the TIMES a few weeks ago supporting the Goldstone Report that slammed Israel. Some have labelled them ‘self-hating Jews’ but what is interesting is that nothing harmful has happened to them; other Jews have not killed any of them. Jews argue with one another all the time as they have done for 5,000 years or so. The only argument that ended in violence was the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin in 1995. That’s a pretty good record. The rest of the time they are winning Nobel Prizes and giving tons of money to charities and to the arts. Today in Iraq schoolchildren were killed by a fellow Muslim bomber. It would be wonderful if Muslims would stop killing Muslims — something to pray for as the Holy season of the Holy Land approaches.
