What people don't seem to realize is that swing voters helped elect Obama just like they helped elect Bush into the White House. Does one party being in control of the White House for eight years have something to do with the opposite party coming into power, you bet. Just ask both Bush(because of Clinton) and Obama(because of Bush) are they the only reasons, of course not. The economy also contributed to Clinton's defeat of Bush the first one, and to the defeat of McCain. Another factor to the defeat of McCain an increase in voter registration of Democrats(learned from the Republicans voter registrations of 2000 & 2004. Another thing that helped Obama is his LONG campaign with Hillary Clinton while McCain sat idle. Obama was forced to campaign in almost every state. Another thing that helped elect Obama was the selection of Sarah Palin as a Vice-Presidential candidate. The fact that 90% of Hillary's block of voters saw her as the G.O.P.'s way of trying to swing the Hillary vote for what it was, helped to hold onto to more voters than he may have otherwise. Did thousands if not more women vote for McCain because of her, sure. Did thousands if not more vote for Obama because of her religious rigid beliefs, sure. Did voters swing to Obama because Obama ran a more calm campaign, sure. Did voters swing to Obama because he stayed on "point" and McCain didn't, sure. Why do I keep bringing up swing voters? Because the Democrats registered at most a little over 2 million voters and Obama won by OVER 7 million voters. Where do you think they came from, when this country is almost evenly divided Between the Republicans and the Democrats. The Democrats that whined about Bush over the last 8 years have themselves to blame, and the Republicans that ARE ALREADY whining about Obama have only themselves to blame. And all the people whining about the issues, not even half of the voters pay enough attention to all the issues to know where their candidate really stands. People vote for the candidates they choose for ALL KINDS OF REASONS: their party affiliations, their religious beliefs(the RELIGIOUS RIGHT),their civil rights views(beliefs for or against gay rights & women's reproductive rights), Constitutional Law, and gender to name a few. Did some people vote for Obama because of the color of his skin, probably, but it wasn't as many as people think. African-Americans traditionally vote Democrat, Kerry recieved 92% of the African-American vote while Obama recieved 95%(African-Americans only constitute 13% of the TOTAL POPULATION, not the VOTING POPULATION, the entire population. Will Obama be an effective leader, a good, poor, or GREAT LEADER, only time will tell. Will Obama win a second term if Palin faces him in 2012, PROBABLY the odds are HIGHLY IN HIS FAVOR.

I think the article is on target with regards to the hatchet job on Sarah Palin by members of her own party. I think it is shameful to dismiss her as a "hillbilly" when she has accomplished much more than her critics. How many of her detractors have been elected govenor? She has great apeal with the right as she makes no apologies about being on the right. The only republicans that have been able to win elections or re-elections are those that run on the right wing party line. Every Rupublican that ran as a liberal conservative has been defeated. Love her or hate her, she stood her ground admirably and refused to waffle from her personal convictions. As a career military member, she earned my vote and my respect. I hope to see her again in 2012.

Palin? The GOP's best hope in 2012? Give me an f------ break! The woman is a $150,000 empty suit. One has to wonder what McCain and his staff were thinking in choosing someone so ill-prepared to become vice president. Biden had his gafs, but Palin? Wow.

I'm not even sure what was the clincher with me. Not being able to name a Supreme Court ruling other than Roe v. Wade was facinating considering the Exxon ruling was centered around an incident in her own state.

What bugged me is her not admitting to reading anything in particular. Like her I was a journalism major. From day one I was encouraged to read something every day begining with the daily newspaper!

Her foreign relations experience due to Alaska's proximity to Russia? Well I lived in Laredo at one time. I could see Nuevo Laredo from...

And don't even get me started about NAFTA, Africa and for heaven sakes.. the word is not pronounced "nu-ku-ler."

And I could go on and on about NAFTA and Africa, the Bridge to Nowhere, but why bother.

The last thing the Repubs need is another retard in the White House.

McShame... God Bless You. "Ditto" on everything you said. Palin is a fake, wacko, and a Bible Banger. No place for that in NATIONAL politics. That might fly in Alaska, obviously it does. We can only hope that those hillbilies up there start to see through her. She is not even fit to run that state, if you call it a state, as they would like to sucede from the rest of us. I didn't like her from the moment she opened her lying mouth.

GIVE THE MAN A CHANCE, referring to the new President-Elect. Republicans LOST, move on and stop being such sore losers. Oh yea, PALIN IS NOT THE ANSWER FOR 2012, OR ANY OTHER YEAR. SHE HAD NOTHING TO OFFER NOW AND I DON'T TRUST THAT WOMAN AT ALL. SHE IS A LIAR, A MANIPULATOR AND OUT FOR HERSELF AND THE SMALL BASE THAT LIKES HER AND BELIEVES HER BS. GOD AND COUNTRY ARE 2 DIFFERENT THINGS AND SHOULD NEVER BE BROUGHT INTO POLITICS. Stay up wind Palin and leave us alone.

Better yet Newt Gingrich. The man is that good.
A Gingrich Huckabee ticket would be awesome.
Newt is qualified is smart and has common sense. Anyone watching him on FOX can easily see this. If you can't you're biased.
