Benny Morris’s sobering Jerusalem Post article paints a picture of a Second Holocaust–a nuclear-armed Iran willing to sacrifice the loss of millions of its own people to have the satisfaction of destroying Israel, and an Israel whose own nuclear weapons would be of no real use against an enemy so resistant to deterrence. Is there any way out of this dreadful dilemma? The Sanity Squad discusses paranoia vs. denial, the West as the enabler of its own enemies, and Iran’s vulnerabilities. [LISTEN]

First of all: American Jews don’t believe Benny. I know. I did my own survey this weekend at my in-law’s 60th wedding anniversary. Out of 40 prominent members of L.A.’s most prosperous residents … about three thought Benny had a point. My father-in-law thinks he’s completely full of it.

I thought about this a lot this weekend and hope he’s right. Because you see, there IS a deterrent here. If Saudi Arabia thinks the Israelis will turn Mecca into a smoking hole if Iran launches nukes …. maybe THEY will decide to do something about the mad mullahs and drag along some others ( there’s gotta be somebody) who care if they live or die.

    It’s thin I know … but I can dream can’t I?
