Redeeming Sarah
Such bewilderment, I believe, was a function of her essential good nature, her moral dignity, and her natural optimism. These are attributes that would by no means handicap her in her dealings with actual and potential enemies of the country she obviously loves and is sworn to defend — no Michelle-like resentment of America in her bones — but did have a paralyzing effect on her ability to respond to fellow citizens she may have considered merely as Americans who might not agree with her beliefs and prescriptions. Despite her street smarts, she was plainly unprepared for the viciousness with which she was assaulted by her nominal compatriots, as we too are often unprepared when family members, no matter how estranged, become our worst enemies.
Palin is surely wiser now that she has been put through the domestic wringer. And when compared to her major political opponents, Barack Obama and Joe Biden, she comes across as prime presidential material indeed. The gaffes committed by the president and his hobbling mate during their pre-election speeches defy credulity and betoken not only the sort of “shallowness” that Moran accuses Palin of, but suggest an ignorance so profound and entrenched as should have disqualified them immediately from running for office.
Further, as has been often pointed out, Palin has actual hands-on experience of what it means to govern; Obama was a short-stint senator who voted “present.” Palin’s record as a mayor and governor is squarely in the public domain and is undeniably impressive; Obama’s CV remains largely sequestered in sealed archives and nobody quite knows what a “community organizer” really does. Palin has genuine accomplishments to her credit; Obama is a cryptograph, who is, in addition, devoid of any notable achievements. One cannot in good faith accuse Palin of Obama’s faults and deficiencies and get away with it indefinitely. For the fact is that Palin knows reasonably well what she is talking about but Obama is like the captain of an ocean liner who never stepped into a rowboat and whose only experience of the sea is a view of Lake Michigan from the Hancock Observatory. Honestly now, who would you really trust at the helm of state?
There are many factors that render Sarah Palin fit for high office, not the least of which is a generous helping of common sense — a faculty sorely lacking in the current leadership. She is unpretentious and is nearer to the majority of ordinary people than her faux-sophisticated competitors, the beltway schemers, insider traders, brazen peculators, and outright liars now in power. This is precisely what an indignant punditocracy cannot forgive her: the plainspokenness, the deep convictions, the sense of loyalty, the chiming with ordinary folk — what the pointy-headed can only interpret as blunt-mindedness. But Palin’s moral and political values hew closer to the heart of the American republican experiment — individual liberty, personal integrity, Emersonian self-reliance, responsibility for choice, true patriotism, unobtrusive government dedicated to the public weal — than do those of almost any other political figure on the American scene today, with the exception of Mike Huckabee. I have no doubt that such stalwart values would stand her in good stead in the perilous world of international politics and that her decisions would invariably strengthen rather than weaken the United States, which latter is the deplorable case in today’s international theater.
Moreover, it seems clear that Palin is capable of learning whereas Obama appears incorrigibly learn-proof. I suspect that Victor Davis Hanson is absolutely correct when he sums up Palin’s imperatives for the future: “The best thing she can do is to go out and talk, take her licks, promote her book, fend off foes, and gain experience in the arena of ideas — while spending her evenings reading and debating wonks and politicians.” Palin is deemed by her defamers as a polarizing figure and a disaster for both the Republican Party and the nation. This is pure nonsense but it will take much cerebral scrubbing to redeem her. Thankfully, she seems up to the job.
One can never predict the result of the primaries. In the Liberal leadership campaign prior to Canada’s last election, a coalition of less unqualified candidates delivered their block votes to the utterly incompetent Stéphane Dion. Something similar happened in the U.S., the only distinction being that Dion is a bland cipher and Obama is blessed with charisma. The unexpected can always happen. But pace Moran, Frum, Couric, Olbermann, Friedman, and company, with their mean-spirited and catarrhal denunciations of one of the best America has on offer today, things may turn out differently next time around. We may now be looking at the making of the future American president. To quote Captain Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation, who had the Ferengis’ number: “Make it so.”

Palin is the only politician who has truly undergone a baptism by fire. Attacks on her record, her character, her family, her education, her reading list, her philosophy and all else in between are going to either weaken her, or leave her stronger.
They appear to be leaving her stronger.
She must have a good support system, faith, and a moral compass.
Those are three tools that all politicians need. Apparently this vetting process the media has put her through have revealed this key fact.
good for her.
“Cutting short her recent book signing session in Noblesville, Indiana, distressing some of her many fans who had long waited in line, has metastasized into a public relations tumor.”
Is it possible that some of these complainers might be leftist agent provocateurs? Any sensible human being knows that a book signing tour involving someone as popular as Sarah Palin is besieged with severe time restraints. That should be considered to be a ho-hum fact of life. One might hope to have their copy signed—but should also shrug their shoulders like a mature adult if this doesn’t occur. It would never occur to me to be angry or upset.
Sarah Palin merely needs to read and study constantly. Everything else will fall into place. She can be a serious candidate in 2012. A number of knowledgeable people also encourage her to improve on her web presence. It would also behoove Palin to suggest financial contributions to the effective individuals and organizations involved in the fight. It is estimated that left-wing non-profit groups are funded 85 % better than their conservative opponents. The Ford Foundation alone may have more money than all of the conservative organizations combined! This madness must not be allowed to continue.
Trashing Sara the only way Rick Moron can get anyone to read his articles. That’s way I don’t waste my time reading him. I suspect it’s becoming the same for Frum.
Go Sara.
I am definitely in sync with Palin’s outlook, her take no prisoner approach to how she envisions the US should lead as the authentic leader of the free world.
The fact that the jackals on the left are apoplectic over her ascendancy is merely icing on her Conservative cake.
GO Sarah!! I will vote for you from Israel as I exercise my right (no pun intended) to do so as an American citizen.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Mr Solway, whether I agree or disagree with you, I love the way you write! Thank you. This time I agree.
I had to look up a few words; again, thank you. My favourite was: “catarrhal denunciations”. Love the Wiki definition which is so descriptive, “Catarrh (pronounced /kəˈtɑr/) is a thick exudate of mucus and white blood cells caused by the swelling of the mucous membranes in the head in response to an infection.” Of course, instead of the cause being the common cold (per the Wiki definition) the infection in this case is Liberalism!
“cotton candy thinking”
The sweet irony is that Sarah Palin is rare leader who does NOT believe in man-made AGW fraud.
Since she is not conned by the Al Gore’s fraud she is brilliant compared to Ivy-Inbred Academics indoctrinated on stupid.
Sarah’s detractors mostly fear her ability to expose their own inability to engage in self-reflection; her detractors do not like to look at themselves because they instinctively they themselves are ‘cotton-candy’ thinkers void of wisdom.
Sarah’s detractors are unable to comprehend, wisdom cannot be achieved by reading a book or receiving an Ivy-Inbred college degree.
Wisdom is lived and Sarah Palin has lived.
I am ceasing to be amused by the fact that the left, which loses no opportunity to proclaim itself open-minded, exhibits almost constant intellectual self-restriction. Here, for example–having decided that Palin is a perky ignoramus and Biden is a substantial intellect, no amount of observation or evidence otherwise disturbs the conclusion.
The same thing happened in reverse with Obama, of course. Having concluded that he was a great intellect and a decisive politician, the evidence to the contrary is ignored and suggestions that there is heretofore unreleased evidence, such as grades, that might help understand what’s going on is studiously ignored.
I stopped calling myself a Democrat about the time I realized it was bootless to insist I was part of the Joe Lieberman wing of the party when it percolated through to me that there was no such locus. I am not a Republican either and as a genuine independent I will be watching Palin with interest.
It might behoove the left to remember that there is a long list of people who underestimated Palin and dismissed her out of hand, and she has a record of leaving such people by the side of the road.
Solway is of course right that while, Palin, like any politician, displays any number of aspects that well merit criticism, the viciousness of the attacks on her and her family go beyond ordinary politics and for that matter, beyond decency.
By the way, someone will correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe I’ve read that the Newsweek cover picture was in fact taken for the article about her in Runner’s World (one that focused on her running and was quite fair) and wasn’t supposed to have been used for a while. Someone leaked it.
Whether or not this is the case, as Solway points out, it seems to be an important part of the viciousness hurled at her that she is, in fact, a very attractive woman. On the other hand, I heard Andrea Dworkin speak years ago and she asserted that men saw women only as sex objects.
Only my innate courtesy prevented me from assuring her that on that ground she had nothing about which to worry.
To me, it would be a crime to deny Sarah Palin her chance to serve America the best she knows how. It would be like denying General David Petraeus the chance to prove his counterinsurgency doctrine in Iraq. Most liberals and a few conservatives would have denied Petraeus his chance and they have been proven wrong. Petraeus succeeded. Why not let Palin try and then we will all find out if she can succeed or not?
Obviously, I’m not asking the liberal trolls here to give Palin a chance, only people with open minds.
Sadly I think that political credibility is something that Sarah Palin will find almost impossible to regain.
Even over here in Ireland the very mention of her name is greeted with snorts of derision. Your appalling media did a fantastic job of tearing her to pieces during the election campaign and, with the usual lazy journalism we come to expect these days, the media on this side of the pond just regurgitated the smears in local tv and newspapers.
I’d be a fan of Palin the individual – but I think her political career, certainly in terms of the Presidency, is over. She seems too decent to take on a job that is really only suitable for lying, brass-necked, devious b*stards.
Some people keep propping up Palin’s image and she keeps falling on her face. That’s called fanaticism. Enjoy the ride!

“Obviously, I’m not asking the liberal trolls here to give Palin a chance, only people with open minds.”
Monday morning.
Sarah Palin or Mike Huckabee?
Which of the two needs redeeming?
(Intriguing word choice–redeem. It’s so often in a religious context. Extrapolate as you wish.)
I was taught that it is impolite to speak ill of the dead, Andrea Dworkin died a few months ago at the age of 58. From all appearances, she dug her own grave with a very large spoon.
That said, does anyone believe that Sarah Palin should be mentioned in the same breath as Andrea Dworkin? They both being female ends any similarity.
The Ivy League left has gone over the edge on Sarah Palin out of pure envy, I’m in love with her because she’s a hottie.
Solway is right on of course. The backlash against the swarmy SP haters is already in full swing.
Just one other comment re Solway’s article. Yes, Stephane Dion proved to be a weak party leader. But he was an outstanding Minister of Inergovrrnmental Affairs. He singlehandedly demolished Lucien Bouchard and saved Canadian unity for a generation with his Clarity Act. This is one Canuck who will be forever grateful.

David – Excellent column. Recall that Ronald Reagan was called “an amiable dunce” by the Democrat, Clark Clifford. (Typical leftist drivel – ad hominem attacks on your opponent.) Turns out that Ronald Reagan is in the pantheon of great presidents. What Gov. Palin shares with President Reagan is that she has principles which govern her life, and I think she has the honesty to stick with them. With Gov. Palin, what she says is what she does.
Alex Bensky @ #8 – Sounds like you are become a conservative. Welcome aboard.
Vivo @ #11 & 12: If you have nothing better to say, don’t say it.
“Sarah Palin or Mike Huckabee?”
Mike Huckablee’s political career is effectively over. He will no longer be a viable candidate for dog catcher. Huckabee granted clemency to Maurice Clemmons—the prime suspect who only yesterday assassinated four police officers! Will he even be able to keep his Fox News television show?
Why do many Republicans oppose Sarah Palin? Those who admire the intelligence and thinking of Ronald Reagan or William F. Buckley reject her shallowness and ignorance. She is not in the tradition of great conservative leaders.
“She did not understand the fury and contempt she would have to face, especially in interviews with the likes of Katie Couric or the scandalous caricatures of a Tina Fey, media types who had inexhaustibly more embarrassing blunders and solecisms to exploit in the Democratic camp”
Really? I don’t think so. Palin hasn’t faced anything more than other prominent politicians face. She does, however, shoot herself in the foot with her quitting and her comments. The latest happened when she 1) dropped out of a 5K run in Kennewick, WA, and 2) quoted UCAL legend John Wooden . . .
“Our land is everything to us… I will tell you one of the things we remember on our land. We remember our grandfathers paid for it–with their lives.”
Only the quote wasn’t by John Wooden. It was written by a Native American activist named John Wooden Legs in an essay entitled “Back on the War Ponies,” which appeared in a left-wing anthology, We Are the People: Voices from the Other Side of American History, edited by Nathaniel May, Clint Willis, and James W. Loewen. And this wasn’t in an off-the-cuff remark. It was in her book, her deeply researched, truthful, straight-forward book.
Do other people misspeak? yes. And if they’re Republicans, they get a pass from the right wing media machine . . . as seen in this Howard Kurtz clip . . .
http://crooksandliars.com/
So much for Mr. Solway’s conservative meme re: Palin’s leaving fans in the cold turning into a PR tumor: “Had the culprit been a Democrat, the lump would scarcely have been noticed.”
She’s been given more chances than she deserves. And now we see Hucakbee “GIVING CLEMENCY TO COP KILLERS!” Let your spin begin.
Hypocrisy, thy name is conservatism (and thy nickname is FOX).
Sarah Palin talks common sense, which is not so common anymore. It’s to bad we do not have more of our elected officials saying these things. Political Correctness has take over, where common sense once ruled, and is now destroying our country. We need more Sarah Palins and less Nancy Pelosi’s!
As Beck would say: Here is the one thing about Palin.
She has already been vetted by the Lamestream media and liberal blogging cellar dwellers and oreo munchers.
They still haven’t found any real reason that Gov Palin should not become POTUS in America, unless they don’t love America.
19. Now and Then.
“She’s been given more chances than she deserves.”
Was that you, the Handsome Mixed European American Turkey with a Touch of Black at the White house turkey ceremony? Did you get the government pass to Disneyland? Or are you barnyard turkey again?
Almost. Well maybe next year.
“Hypocrisy, thy name is conservatism (and thy nickname is FOX).”
There are no hypocritical turkeys?
no other person, in my memory, was ever savaged and lied about like Palin was in the 2008 election. Yet, she still stands. She was totally compromised and held back by Schmidt end the rest of the McCain campaign incompetents. Her weaknesses in the campaign had way more to do wiht that than her being unprepared and unable to deal with the media. She is a real person, not a politician…just what this country desperately needs. She’ll always be hated by the “knowing” of the media, left AND right. And revered by the CITIZENS of this country.
Go Sarah!
Vivo – joke of the day.
16. Jack in Silver Spring: “David – Excellent column. Recall that Ronald Reagan was called “an amiable dunce” by the Democrat, Clark Clifford. (Typical leftist drivel – ad hominem attacks on your opponent.)”
Hey, no fair. Reagan took his lumps from the right, too. Who could forget Jack Warner’s famous riposte when he heard that RR was running for governor: “No. Jimmy Stewart for governor. Reagan for best friend.”
I wish the Lamestream Media would tell me why do we know EVERYTHING about SP but, we know sooo little about TOTUS?
I find it disturbing that people actually voted for this ‘creature’ and they no nothing about him. But, they seem to be experts on all things Palin. And all other Republicans are thoroughly ‘checked out’.
I demand to know why we are not privy to TOTUS’s College transcripts, passport info., well….everything.
Can a Liberal please tell me why we are not allowed to know anything about this TOTUS? And why they have no issue with this?
I am sick of the whole treasonous LOT! Time for a sweeping in D.C. And the Media too!
I find it kind of surprising that people would object to Ms. Palin being parodied on Saturday Night Live. If there is one thing a politician has to be prepared for it’s being parodied. Did Reagan get huffy about the parodies he generated (and Reagan impressions were almost as common in the 80s as Nixon impressions were in the 70s)? As to the Katie Couric interviews, I was not under the impression that Ms. Couric was a shark as an interviewer. Complaining that Couric was tough and mean would be as absurd as accusing Larry King of being a hardball type interviewer (actually, I think Carrie Prejean thinks Larry King is pretty hardball).
If Sarah Palin couldn’t stand the heat from such lightweights as SNL and Katie Couric she would be unable to withstand the kind of attacks that Bush had during his administration. Never mind the sort of attacks that Obama has had so far.
So, we have a candidate who couldn’t defend herself against a TV talking head and a comedy show. We have an elected representative who resigned her office because she was subject to ridicule. Not only doesn’t she deserve serious consideration for the presidency, but I seriously wonder how anyone can think of this person as “a fighter”. She might be brave taking on a moose armed only with a rifle, but when she can’t shoot anything she seems to fold at a moment’s notice.
But none of this matters too much. Sarah Palin is no more likely to run for president than Dan Quayle. In any case, why would she run? She’s making a fortune from book sales and speaking engagements. I don’t blame her, I’d rather be a rock star than President of the United States myself.
The criticism during the campaign was that she lacked experience and wasn’t up to the job as President.
Ok,fair enough, the position was Vice President but let’s say for a moment John McCain won and somehow Sarah Palin had to assume the office of the President.
Would there have been the giant stimulus bill?
Would there be “dithering” on Afganistan?
Would there be embarrasing “bows”?
Would there be bailouts on such a grand scale?
Would unemployment be over 10%
Would there be the trial of KSM in New York?
Would there be this multi trillion dollar Health Care bill and the enormous use of time and energy on it?
Would there be a Cap and Trade bill pending?
Would race relations be better or worse?
Would partisanship be better or worse?
Would business have more confidence so they could invest, build and most importantly hire?
Would you be better off today?
While I am not completely satisfied with Palin as a candidate, I would still be happy to promote her candidacy over anyone else. Sadly, she is the best one out there, which is a ringing indictment of America.
What I care about is that she seems incorruptible. The corruption in government, at all levels, is the most pressing of problems. All else, the wars, the economy, healthcare, all pale to distant second in my mind. If we cannot rein in the corruption, we cannot resolve the other things. Palin cleaned up much of AK politics. It was a monumental achievement. I long for the same thing in D.C.
#19 Now and Then – She dropped out of a 5k race? Clearly, she cannot be President! WTF? I notice you didn’t say why she dropped out. This is a woman who runs marathons. She probably had a good reason to not finish. Happens all the time to runners.
Did she get an attribution wrong? Dunno. Perhaps her source was flawed. Dunno. Don’t care. People misquote all the time. One tries not to. It was a big book. A small mistake here or there does not disqualify one from office. What a ridiculous standard. Everyone makes mistakes. Even if Obama had done the same thing, I would just shrug my shoulders. This sort of thing doesn’t even hit my radar. It’s just too small a thing.
Let me ask you, did she get the quote right? If she did, then maybe there’s more to it than meets the eye. It’s not like she said there were 57 States… or that Austrians speak Austrian… or that she delivered that stupid, FILLED-with-errors Cairo speech. I know, tu quoque, but it helps to keep things in perspective.
What folly! Everyone knows that you have to have earned an advanced degree from an Ivy League university (preferably with affirmative action allowances) for which no actual scholarship need be demonstrated, followed by a completely phony (but politically correct) career, in order to be considered for the highest office in the land. As a matter of fact, you must be a Harvard educated Constitution scholar (which makes you an expert on why the Constitution must be overturned) in order to be President. Only those rare and elite persons are capable of fundamentally changing the very nation they swear to defend and protect. Why do I know this? Easy, almost every news outlet proclaims this to me all day and night, every day and night. Why, no less than Paul Krugman, Peggy Noonan, Chris Buckley, Colin Powell, they are all unanimous in their agreement on these unalterable and salient facts, for which the debate has ended, and consensus is now settled science.
Now, someone help me get my tongue out of my cheek…

I still enoy those 57 states. Especially the full version. When Obama says about 57 states and the AUDIENCE LAUGHS, THIS RETARD has no brain to understand WHY do they laugh, and thinks it’s because the REAL NUMBER OF THE STATES IS 60. So, THIS BRAIN-DAMAGED goes on to explain, that 57 sates don’t include Alaska (state # 58 in Obama’s Harvard education version) and Hawai (his “home state”, # 59…). Then he concludes that one state, aka. # 60 in Obama’s America is still to be visited. YUMMY!!!!
MG, it’s the BEST COMEDY EVER! And that’s FOR REAL! No impersonation, no Tina Feys, nothing! Pure reality show! I would vote for any candidate that promised to not sign any more spending bills, and to roll back the ones we already have. I would do that regardless of gender, race, party affiliation, sexual orientation, medical handicaps, mental prowess, prior criminal record, religious preferences, or lack thereof.
And if that person made all of these geniuses in the popular media shoot blood out of their ears from frustration and annoyance, so much the better.

He’s right, dear klrtz1, it’s a poor joke. “Only people with open minds”, eh?
1. You wrongly suppose “liberal trolls” are PEOPLE. The recent LEAKED E-MAILS clearly prove they are NOT HUMAN at all, they are BORG (but too stupid to notice it yet).
2. You wrongly suppose they HAVE MINDS. That also contradicts the recent scintific data from the LEAKED E-MAILS. Neither them, nor their RETARDED “SCIENCE MAKES NO MISTAKES” TOTUS have something that could be denoted as “mind”.
So, your statement should be: “Obviously, I’m not asking the BORG here to give Palin a chance, only the PEOPLE”.
And WE THE PEOPLE are ready to give her all the chances in the universe!
Palin only has one shortfall at the moment, and that is that she like Obama must convince enough Americans that she is Presidential. That is something that can be accomplished.
Her executive record, leadership skills, real accomplishments, relatively clean ethics compared to anybody else, and courage make her perfect for the Presidency, along with her commonsense conservatism beliefs. She is being attacked by the Left out of fear. You can see it here in the comments by Vivo and Now and Then. They do not want her or anybody else to stop the growth of government and the full socializing of the country. Sarah will give it her best to not only stop the growth of government but to slowly shrink it back some.
With Huckabee out, she is positioned to win the GOP nomination if she wants it and if her supporters ask her to run.
And when she does, does anybody with one or more brain-cell seriously think that this country is going to vote a 2nd term to Obama after his hard pull to the left? Ridiculous.
She’ll probably run, win the primary, pick a Romneyite type as VP to unite the party, and the two will stomp Obama in the general election. Sarah will run as the grown-up and for fiscal conservatism, help the private sector with less regulations/taxes, lowering unemployment, and run on a policy of peace through strength.
Think about it. Sarah may me on to something. She lost the past election, then resigned from office… but…does she go away? heck no, she releases a book and begins a well covered book tour across America carefully choreographed to cover user friendly areas where its “admirers only” allowed to meet/greet her. Plus she is getting paid handsomely.
I think what she is doing is the smartest thing she could do under the circumstances. This tactic was well thought out and it is working. The only problem, when you look closer…is the short term perception (perfect mom, wife, family, home) versus the reality (kids farmed out, always on the road, husband becomes Mom, neglect). Conservatives, specially the far right religious wing(s) dislike independent types and get suspicious quickly. However, if she wraps this thing up in a month or two, cashes in, and creates a new diving board in which to dive off again in her political future…its mission accomplished. Can/will she pull it off? I think she has. Good Luck to Her !
Simple fact:
Any liberal/[progressive can run for any elected Government office and the MSM, brain-dead celebrities, and ignorant voters will fall all over themselves to ensure their election.
Any conservative with principles and a moral compass will be pilloried by the very same aforementioned groups.
Democrats have two major problems if it’s Palin v. Obama 2012

AREN’T OUR TROLLS ENTERTAINING?
In ordinary times, we elect ordinary or less-than-ordinary people to the highest office. 2008 was not an ordinary time, only a time when war fatigue created a cover for media-amplified hate targeted toward GWB, the leader who had gotten ahead of the electorate on the urgent need to defeat the jihadists.
Any excuse could have been used to promote the most anti-Bush candidate on the horizon, and a Harvard-blessed ignoramus with plenty of charm was going to get the lollipop, regardless of his shallowness, which also earned him the Nobel, by the way. Bottom line, the election of BO can be credited to circumstances alone before any consideration of merit or lack thereof.
But the need to defeat the jihadists is the modern resurgence of some fourteen centuries old Islamic ambition, well capable of outlasting any transient artifact of American politics such as hate targeted towards any politician, be it GWB, Sarah Palin or any other highly visible persona in the cross-hair of the megaphone wielders at the time.
In the three intervening years before the next presidential race, a great many things can happen, and the circumstances might well be asking for a true patriot with grit, and the one candidate best fitting this profile might well happen to be Sarah Palin then. Yes Virginia, the American electorate can be politically incorrect to the point of committing the unpardonable offense of profiling!
Three years ahead of time, it is not possible to predict which candidates will benefit from whatever circumstances will prevail in 2012. Sarah Palin only volunteered that she would be willing to run through the gate if it opens.
Wow! God’s will in American politics? Anyone remembers any precedent for *THAT*?
17. I would’ve granted Clemens clemency were I in that position, and so would most of the people on this website. Why? Because armed robbery that doesn’t result in a death does not merit locking a teenager away for life, and the jury handed down a sentence that exceeded the boy’s remaining life expectancy. If anyone deserves blame (besides the shooter, of course), it’s the judge who let him out on bail after he was arrested for rape, despite having a long rap sheet.

UP TO THIS DAY NOBODY KNOWS WHAT IT MEANS. But it’s enough for the BORG to repeat what they’re told: “Palin. Is. Unethical. Palin. Is. Unethical”. Yes, yes, I know, you have been assimilated. But it sounds pathetic nevertheless.

Hmm, Obama has “written” two books, but still wanted into the WH. MG the guy is greedy…
David, I believe your comments are dumb and overlook one key FACT. The ultra-left wing, anti-American hatred of Sarah Palin is as irrational as their hatred of President Bush was!
Let us not worry about 2012 yet, it is far off. Instead, let’s focus on 2010 and use Palin’s popularity to help wipe away the dem stain on our nation. The hate her, take it at that, and use her to incite them to even greater irrationality. At the same Sarah can help unite honest Americans.
For example, there is some guy (link via HotAir?) who grumps that Sarah uses a private jet to get from city to city rather than her bus. He has a list of questions that he has raised to examine the issue. The list only raises the core question of why he did not ask an equally detailed list examining the truth of Chimpy the Kenyan’s birth certificate.

I agree, let’s give sarah a chance. Every time she opens her mouth she stick those come F*$# me pumps right in there.
I keep watching and reading punditry wondering if Palin is “qualified” to be President of the US, and the kinder ones, suggesting that she should ‘educate’ herself.
And gee, all along I thought a person becomes ‘qualified’ by (a) being a natural born citizen of the US; and (b) 35 years old or older; and (c) a majority of the votes of the Electoral College.
I note that most of the punditry have LOVED Jindel; who when he talks, sounds exactly like a very informative and boring pundit.
Sarah Palin is a remarkable American, and would be a very great president of your country.

Could you support a candidate called, negative, too risky, frivolous, etc.
[After all, what would you think of a candidate the Baltimore Sun calls a symptom of "the right, the radical right, which cherishes notions that often are too simple, too negative and too risky"? What would you believe about a candidate one liberal columnist calls "patently ridiculous … frivolous"? What would you say about a candidate one writer says is incapable of "accuracy or depth"? A candidate who "cater[s] to the fears and anxieties of the great middle class”?
Would you back a candidate one New York Times columnist calls “primitive”? That The New Republic calls an “ignoramus”? That The Nation labels “the most dangerous person ever to come this close to the presidency”?
Would you support a candidate even moderate Republicans despise? A candidate whose simple legitimization by the party constitutes a “political dance macabre … the dance of death for the Republican Party”? A candidate described by a moderate competitor as plagued with a “penchant for offering simplistic solutions to hideously complex problems”?

Sarah Palin is doing exactly what her heart and her instincts are telling her to do, and her only interest is in doing whatever is right to help her country. If her heart told her that for the good of the country, she should step aside and disappear into the Alaskan wilderness, she would do it in a second. The LAST thing we need in an executive position like the POTUS is a person skilled in how NOT to make decisions – and that’s exactly what Obama is. His instinct is not to lead – it’s to look around to others for answers, and regrettably, he’s been surrounded his entire life by unrepentant Marxists and America-haters. Obama can’t make up his own mind about anything, and when he draws upon his well of experience for assistance, all he can pull up is Saul Alinsky, William Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, and George Soros.
The two most important things we can do, RIGHT NOW, to help ourselves as Americans, are: 1) achieve energy independence by making domestic oil/natural gas exploration a national defense initiative; and 2) STOP federal government spending. I would vote for ANY politician who puts these two things first, and guess what? This is exactly what Sarah puts first.

Palin would be a disaster, as she was in Alaska.
She used her power to carry out personal vendettas. She raised taxes on our oil industry, harried them like a true populist, and prevented drilling at Point Thompson. She could never focus on anything that was urgent long enough to accomplish anythings (bullet gas-line from Fairbanks to Anchorage). She let McCain hatchetmen run amok in the state prior to the election, hurting the reputations of many a good Alaskan.
Grow up Mr. Solway. We need leaders not narcissists.

Anyway, on to topic. The character of Palin’s detractors alone gives her kudos in my eyes. Someone so hated by these trolls, tingly legged sacks of pudding, boggle eyed Obama groupies, and seiu leg breakers; has got 50% of my support already. But then when that is combined with her obvious leadership abilities, a strong moral compass, and her love of country; she now gets 100%
Oh, and for the information of those who believe the “quitting” fable: Her resignation has enabled Alaska to be governed by someone who isn’t bogged down by false and frivolous charges made by nutroots under the guidence of the “Chicago mob” that now temporarily lives in the whitehouse. Furthermore, it has enabled her to fight the Conservative fight without hinderance. It was both the right choice and the smart choice and if I could give her another 50%, she’d get it.
When are the libs going to see that it is their heros that keep throwing the wrenches of corruption and political chicanery into the gears of America?
Her willingness to fight for those things, that we need to further, energy development, national defense, economic development, marks her as very
unique. Yes she’s attractive, but it is mostly because of her optimism, her compassion and her honesty.
One sees how the media, has been keeping the hopes of Sanford and now Huckabee, with all these push polls, it seems more than a coincidence seeing as they have spectacularly found wanting
I was one of those that didn’t get my books signed, after a combined 9 hours standing outside that morning and late afternoon/evening. I can say for a fact that most of the people in line were fans-but there were some there to be obnoxious. Case in point-2 retired UAW couples that were right behind us for a good part of the evening, that wanted me to “admit” that Hillary would make a better president than Mrs. Palin. They tried sneering at her alma mater (I had to set them straight-they thought it was Iowa State). Then when I questioned them where Hillary studied, they didn’t know! But it had to be somewhere “better”, because she is so smart….After I had informed them where she went to college, I asked them where they had gone–but of course, they took offense, because being good union workers, they had stopped at high school. But lets see…they are smarter than me (with a BS in Geology), because they know Hillary is better than Sarah. Oh, and of course, the polar bears are drowning! because Al said so!! and Bill Maher is SOOOO smart and funny…(ew)And they stood in that line for how long? to talk to a woman they so obviously despised? my goodness, the logic is SO making my head spin….
Hey, it made the 5 hours standing on pavement in the rain and temps of low 40′s…interesting.
Sure would liked to have those books signed, and to shake her hand-but ya’ know-life is unfair sometimes. There are an awful lot of people in this country who’ve never figured that out…and THAT is why our nation is doomed to failure.

Even better, they used the wrong statute to go after her in the first place. In other words, it was the investigation itself that was illegal, not Sarah!

And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, was an outtake from “HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE” by Dale Carnegie.
What seems obvious to me is that some people will always hate sarah palin and some will always love her..regardless of what she does or who the real sarah palin is. I personally †hink she is dumb like a fox…she is a brilliant politician. I definitely do not believe she is “one of us” but I think she has been masterful in making people think so. If you follow her career from the beginning, you will see some similar traits everywhere. She asks someone to mentor her, and later, she takes that mentor’s job, partly by stabbing that very same mentor in the back. This has happened over and over again. I believe she is a pathological liar, lying about needless †hings( simple example her 2 s†ories ..one saying the girls voted for her to run for VP, the second saying there was no vote). I give it to her though….she is rich and powerful. And for the record, the large majority of complaints filed against her have been by republicans, and the most expensive one was filed by herself…again, brilliant political move. Me, I don’† like liars.
In American politics: you committed a gaffe if you meant what you said; you spoke untruth but you didn’t lie; a mistake was made; non-apology apologies; you could be deemed the greatest orator of our time if you could read the teleprompter “eloquently”, even though you couldn’t utter a coherent thought without a prepared statement. They blamed the Chinese for muffling him in their press conference, but the truth was, Mr. Teleprompter was not fast enough to answer the Chinese. Someone has to translate a question, someone else has to formulate an answer, someone else has to load the teleprompter, so the most “eloquent” orator of our time could parrot Mr. Teleprompter. Other presidents needed translations, but answered the translated questions themselves.
The most despicable people are Brooks and Frum, who would rather help the leftists to destroy her than to stand up for their so-called conservative principles. BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) inflicted mostly the leftists, but PDS drove the self righteous rightees out of their mind. I think it has something to do with her “exuding sex” (Frum.)

Palin is just like all politicians hot air and verbal attacks. If she wanted to demonstrate her abilities, Palin should have stayed in office and completed her term. She should have demonstrated her ability to run her state.
#80…wrong…suspect more than one person has similar thoughts as do i>>>notice you don’t bother to refute the example of just one of her lies…i can give you other examples, but you actually make my point….no one calls her on her brazen lies. Not talking policy disagreements here…talking lies. That is my main issue with her. Call her a brilliant politician..i concur. Say the media has been sexist…I concur. Say her family should have been off limits..I concur. Say she has the right to get rich…i concur. Say she is hot…I concur. Say she is honest, and “one of us”…not even close. But, yeah, no need to call her on her lies..just attack those who call her out…that way you can just ignore lie after lie after lie. Obama’s lies do bother you, right? How come Palin’s don’t?
Haters and opponents can underestimate her all they want. We can all debate until the cows come home whether she has the qualification or if she is running for POTUS 2012. She does not suffer from the sickness of ego and vanity of the DC crowd and the Lame media. She is now a private citizen, gave up her title which constrains and handicaps her ability to best serve her country. She is a brilliant methodical strategist. Her focus is not on 2012 but on 2010. She is acutely aware and recognize the key factor for successful, real effective change to restore Foundational Values and Renaissance of America. 2010 election is the Historic Phase 1 of Palin/People Project for a better America.
Queenmaker is an appropriate title. Success of Palin/People Project Phase 1, POTUS 2012 is the icing on the cake if she wish to take the job.
She has my vote any day but unfortunately I am not eligible.

Frankly, after seeing all the hissie fits thrown up thread about Sarah Palins’ real or imagined quals, I think you should look at her other statements regarding the wars. Her position has been resolutely to either commit the troops and equipment to WIN the damned thing, and QUICKLY,,, or to pull our forces out of the region and let the natives roast on upon their own petard. If we can’t do it with a full court press in a year, using the Afghanistan National Police, plus USA advisors for a long period of time, then don’t expect success with half measures in 18 months.
That, IMHO, has been the only sober thinking on the subject at all.
Her domestic agenda has been steadfastly conservative, cost cutting in areas of waste, rooting out corruption in government and returning money to the citizens. She did this wonderfully in Wasilla, imagine what she could do in Washington DC. The potential returns would be mind boggling.
I love my Texas Senators, but they are both richer than Midas, money no longer means much to them. I would surely like to see a politician who has spent 20 years as a successful elected politician,,, and came out of the experience poor. This very act bespeaks honesty and I like that.
We have the first Affirmative Action President in history, who attained his education gratis as a foreign exchange student. He has refused to provide college transcripts, birth certificate, or records of his term as State Senator of Illinois. He has voted “present” on all occasions and as President of the Harvard Law Review Journal, he never published a single article. His depth of knowledge of American History is as shallow as his moral character. He thought there were 60 states-he had been to the 57th and was on his way to the 58th. He spoke at West Point, saying that Gen MacArthur received Japan’s surrender on the deck of the US Battleship. He threw the first ball out on the opening game like a girl-this shows his effeminate side. He served less than two full years as Senator, writing no bills and voting Present, when he happened to be present and quitting to run for President.Talk about quitting. I guess only Libs can quit and escape scrutiny. I would match Sarah Palin’s intelligence with his or biden’s any day of the week. You Libs only constitute less than 10% of the electorate, so get ready for a big fall in 2010, 2012! TMO

97 vivo:
Nicely done.
#97 vivo – Oh, c’mon! Whining about her using a private plane? It’s HER damned money, not taxpayer money. Who cares?
Furthermore, it has allowed her to go to all kinds of places to promote her book. The result is, she has sold more than a MILLION books in the first week! That’s right. She went platinum in one damned week! Sounds like she made a sound investment in using that plane.
We could use someone like that in government, someone who knows how to make a sound investment and make money.
This whole book rollout has been a brilliant thing. They released it ahead of schedule. They released it during sweeps week, which got her on all the big shows hyping her book. Even Oprah couldn’t turn her down, as much as she so obviously wanted to. She needed the ratings for her show. The book tour is fast and furious, appearance after appearance.
Ahead of schedule? Massively profitable? Platinum? Does she know what she’s doiing? Oh, Hell yeah! Palin for freakin’ President!
#99 Your Mom – $25K, not $250K. Off by a factor of ten. I personally don’t care if it costs like that. That’s the cost of keeping the President safe and allowing him to remain in communication. It’s simply a necessary cost of the Presidency. God forbid we get cheap in that area, and have him out of commo should a real immediate crisis hit. That would be the ultimate in pound-foolishness.
(Well, theoretically, anyway. The way Obama always chooses the wrong course, perhaps it would be better to have him cut off.)
I know little things like the difference between a political document like the Branchflower report, in part produced by Kim Elton, who was promoted to shackle Alaska’s resources at Interior, which he is doing haphazardly and the Petumenos report, that cleared her completely escapes many of the trolls, here, Then again many of these people see little objectionable with communism or Islamism so naturally they would recoil before her.

Do me a favor ad repost my scathing attack on your previous descent into flirtatious vanity, and please add the post where I suggest you try a new career, perhaps artificially inseminating turkeys. I think readers (not to mention my own sense of nostalgia) would benefit from that context.”
Well, help you’re “own sense of nostalgia” you Scathingly Handsome Mixed European – American Turkey with a Touch of Black and “hook up” with Pee Wee moho. He can provided the juice if you provide the baster. Take him to a movie with Newsweek and success is yours! But remember being a Modern Liberal of a sort, you will have to make that decision to go full turkey or not. Pee Wee moho need not be involved in the decision, he was only there for his donation and his intellect. Besides, he might have you stoned.
You could appeal to Mr. President, and maybe he will reward you with a barnyard for the “stimulating” activity. Turkeywood will be interested in the story. You could be Turkey Czar!
“This assumes, of course, that you are actually Mr. Lucky and not some leftist plant…”
I agree, many leftists are like plants. Livin’ On Sunshine and Dirt! How green!
“…trying to make the real Mr. Lucky look small and resentful and generally beat down.”
Trying…Yeah, ok. Perception is everything, right? Gobble gobble.
What would Anvil Johnson think?
adversity and baptism by fire have made Palin a household name.
We like her. She grows stonger every day
That jet she uses??? it’s paid for by the editors, not the government…Obama, , biden, pelosi are the jet hogs, at your expense.
.NOT Palin!!!
AND, I love the trolls… they keep me honest. I think that for the grace of God, that could be me 20 years ago!!! I shudder to think that I was that close minded and rude. I had no real point of view.
Then we had children..what an eye opener to the world that was.
So, trolls prosper and be merry, you opinions are laughed at daily. It keeps us in a jovial mood.
One day, you too will grow up and realize the folly of your ways. You will shudder to think you were so, so, stupid.
How did this post go from Palin to McArthur??? PLUS!! Palin was cleared completely of any charges…completely…even if she had not been, I don’t care. She’s better then what have running the country now!! I don’t look for her to run, but we will support whomever she endorses.
103 Mr Lucky

Anvil?. No!
@Marc Malone, #101. Appreciate your comments, but the Obamas’ date night in NYC cost the taxpayer at least $250,000. When full details of the trip became available, the initial $25000 guesstimate you cited was revised upwards twice, finally settling on $250,000.
If the cost of the 3 planeloads of security and support staff is included, plus C-17 to transport the motocade, plus 3 choppers (Marine One plus decoys), tben the total cost is closer to $1 million. That does not include the cost of shutting down streets in NYC.

eeewww….you hurt my feelings…hahahaha
I don’t care because we know so much of the charges, rumors etc were from the left. If the charges had been from reliable sources, and proven in court, it would be different.
110. Now and Then.
