He wants to transform our country to the way “it should be” to quote Michelle who quoted Saul Alinsky (whom Obama praised in print). Obama’s view is radically different from the view of the founding fathers.

The founding fathers understood that the USA would grow and change, and they designed a document that allows that to happen within a broad framework. Americans have always aspired to improve their country. Abolitionists fought slavery for decades. Suffragists fought misogyny for decades. There is a long history of improvements made in the USA, helping “to transform our country to the way “it should be” to quote Michelle”

Would you really prefer a world in which the USA stopped transforming? What if the 13 colonies hadn’t transformed our country into what they thought “it should be”?

America is a place of change. It comes steadily, and also in fits and starts. Obama’s view is the same view as the view our founders had. It is a view that sees value in risk and change, and a spirited determination to improve. Our founders were revolutionaries, patriots, outlaws.

Obama knows far more about the founding fathers than you think.

I think if you took the time to read the Declaration of Independence, in the context of the GWB administration, you would understand what Obama was trying to convey. America has drifted, and we need to get back on course before it is too late.

Obama has already demonstrated his love for this country in his conduct through the presidential transition, and in his history of public service.

I commend you for withholding judgement until the facts are in. You may be surprised at the ability of our new Commander in Chief.

When this arrogant narcissist preaches that we need a new Declaration of Independence so that we can all trash our principles and values and adopt his, I think that tells you enough about where he is coming from. If he thinks that will play for long, he is in for a big lesson.

In the end I will judge Obama on what he does. But the cringe inducing self importance of this guy is going to make it very hard to ever want to be anywhere near him or his supporters let alone support him.

There is much entertainment value here, true, but it is hardly consolation for what they have done to America. I always thought the GOP koolaid was bourbon – nasty stuff, but very hard to give it up once they got the habit. Also makes them think themselves wise, handsome and popular, in spite of the objective reality.

There are really two GOP factions now – those who drank the koolaid and believe Bush was sent by divine providence, and those who are appalled at the others for being so dense.
