Presidential Straw Poll 2008 – Week 2

The second week of the PAJAMAS MEDIA PRESIDENTIAL STRAW POLL has officially begun. 19,539 votes were cast in the first week. You can now vote in the second week in both parties. HAVEN'T VOTED YET? First week results: Democrats Barack Obama 23.9%, Bill Richardson 21.8%, Dennis Kucinich 10.7%, Hillary Clinton 10.4%, John Edwards 9.2%, Al Gore 7.6%, Joe Biden 6.4%, Christopher Dodd 4.6%, Tom Vilsack 3.9%, John Kerry 1.6% Republicans Mitt Romney 26.2%, Rudy Giuliani 25.8%, Newt Gingrich 24.6%, Tom Tancredo 6.4%, John McCain 5.1%, Chuck Hagel 4.1%, Duncan Hunter 3.0%, Sam Brownback 2.1%, Mike Huckabee 1.4%, Jim Gilmore 0.6%, Mark Sanford 0.4%, George Pataki 0.4% Added on the Republican side for the second week are Ron Paul and Fred Thompson. John Kerry, who took himself out of the race, has been removed from the Democratic side.

POLL EXPLANATION:

This is a rolling poll in which each person is able to vote for one candidate in each party once a week. This far away from the election people will undoubtedly change their minds about the candidates as events go forward. Our intention is to track those changes with the growing online electorate.

We encourage you to vote for one candidate in each party. We realize that some people find the opposite side of the aisle anathema, but consider it an experiment in democracy.

And come back next week to vote again.

NOTE TO BLOGGERS AND OTHER WEBSITES: Later this week code will be available to embed the Presidential Straw Poll on your site. This will make your site a form of online poll precinct. Coming as well will be a method of showing how participants from each blog/site are voting.
