Predicting Obama’s 2012 VP Running Mate
Poor Joe Biden! Our vice president has been reduced to a hot dog vendor on Comedy Central and been unanimously anointed by the media as “most likely to be booted” from Obama’s 2012 ticket.
Let’s assume for the sake of this column that Obama walks Biden down the 2012 offramp.
Now don’t feel too sorry for lovable ol’ Joe, because chances are he’ll land a big fat TV contract on MSNBC for a new show called Evening Joe, which will earn higher ratings than Morning Joe.
Or perhaps Biden will be the next Johnny Carson, replacing Jay Leno.
So with Joe down the tubes but on the tube, all the collective media wisdom will point to Hillary in the VP slot because “Obama needs her to win,” or so the story goes.
I’m of the belief that Hillary would reject Obama’s VP offer because she informally held that job for eight years back in the 20th century, and Hillary is the kind of gal who only moves forward.
Which leads me to predict that President Obama will tap Virginia Senator Mark Warner to be his 2012 vice-presidential running mate.

There are numerous reasons why Warner would be an asset to Obama.
For starters, Warner is everything Obama isn’t — a political moderate, a former governor, and a successful businessman/ entrepreneur/venture capitalist who has actually created thousands of jobs in the real world. Mark Warner represents an important swing state, he is a fresh face on the national scene, his persona would not overshadow Obama, and Warner would be qualified to be president if necessary.
Let’s examine all these reasons why Mark Warner will get the call.
Warner is a moderate
Most folks will agree that the Democratic Party is in desperate need of some moderate leaders, and Warner fills that bill. Since his 2008 election to the Senate, Warner ranks as the 37th most liberal senator and the 62nd most conservative, according to the National Journal 2009 Senate vote ratings. Which moves one to ask, moderate compared to whom?
Obama, Biden, and Hillary of course! For in 2007 Obama claimed the #1 spot as the most liberal member of the Senate by this same National Journal vote rating, while Biden was ranked #3 and Hillary lagged behind at #17.
So by National Journal standards, Mark Warner at #37 is a Senate moderate.
In 2012, Obama will need to at least pretend to move to the middle in order win re-election, and Mark Warner could help Obama with that perception. He would help dissipate that “Obama is a socialist” battle cry, for it would be a stretch to call Senator Warner, a multi-millionaire former venture capitalist, a socialist.
Former governor of Virginia
As governor of Virginia from 2002–2006, Warner was ineligible to run for a second term in 2005. (The Virginia Constitution forbids any governor from serving consecutive terms and that is why there are so many former Virginia governors running around.)
Governor Warner was very popular at the end of his term, having earned a reputation for good fiscal management and bridging partisan differences.
Just how popular was he? Here is my personal testimony:
Living in Alexandria, Virginia, during the 2005 governor’s race when Warner’s lt. governor, Tim Kaine, ran against Republican Attorney General Jerry Kilgore, I distinctly remember our mailbox being filled with large full color flyers featuring Mark Warner’s face more prominently than gubernatorial candidate Tim Kaine. To the average voter it looked as if Governor Mark Warner were running for re-election, which was the intent of course.
Leapfrogging off Mark Warner’s popularity, Lt. Governor Kaine won handily.
Now, after serving four undistinguished years as Virginia governor from 2006 -2009, Tim Kaine is perched atop the Democratic National Committee as chairman. Another reason why Mark Warner will get the VP call: because it helps when the national party chairman owes you a huge favor.
National face time and the U.S. Senate
After Warner’s gubernatorial term ended in January of 2006, there was much buzz about him running for president in 2008. Buzz so loud that in October of 2006 Mark Warner made national political news when he announced he was not running for president. Warner instinctively knew he needed some national face time if he was ever going to make a serious run at the White House.
If luck is when preparation meets opportunity, then Mark Warner had all three when in August of 2007 Senator John Warner (no relation) announced his retirement after 30 years in the Senate. This meant an open seat for the 2008 election, which to Mark Warner was the political equivalent of sweet low-hanging fruit.
It was only fitting that Mark Warner run for John Warner’s open Senate seat — for the younger Warner knew it was easier to replace John Warner than run against him, because he had already done that.
Back in 1996, in his first attempt at elective office, then virtually unknown, self-made multi-millionaire businessman Mark Warner challenged popular incumbent Senator John Warner in what became a hotly contested race known as Mark vs. John.

In November 1996, Mark Warner lost respectably to Senator John Warner, 47.4% to 52.5%, but Mark was perceived as a winner for the tough fight he waged against the iconic three-term senator running for his fourth term. All agreed this young Warner had a bright political future.
So now we are back in mid-2008 and Senate candidate Mark Warner is ahead by about 30 points, sailing to an easy victory against former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore. During this time Warner appears on Obama’s long list for VP running mate, but Warner took himself off that list to pursue his Senate seat, as reported by USA Today in June of 2008.

(Political junkies will remember that back in 2004 it was presidential nominee John Kerry who asked an unknown Illinois Senate candidate named Barack Obama to be the convention keynote speaker. Could this keynote speaker thing be a secret code for Democrats?)
As predicted, on November 4, 2008, Mark Warner won his Senate race with 65% of the vote.
But what was not predicted was how Obama would turn Virginia “blue” for the first time since President Lyndon Johnson won the state in 1964. This phenomenon is a segue to one of the most important reasons why Obama needs Mark Warner on his 2012 ticket.
Virginia as a new swing state
Mark Warner’s popularity and influence in his adopted home state could be a deciding factor in determining which presidential ticket wins Virginia’s 13 electoral votes in 2012.
The shade of “blue” that Obama turned Virginia in November 2008 was a very light baby blue, because exactly a year later Virginia was back in the red state column when Republican Attorney General Bob McDonnell staged a spectacular eighteen-point gubernatorial blow-out victory over state Senator Creigh Deeds.
Then the nation watched as another potential “national star” Virginia governor was born.
The key to Bob McDonnell’s decisive victory was winning back all those independent voters who had put Obama over the top a year earlier.
The president was coaxed to Virginia only once to campaign for Deeds, because Obama’s “hope and change” magic dust that he had sprinkled over Virginia in November of 2008 had long evaporated by November of 2009.
From a historical perspective, Virginia claims eight presidents, but it has not seen one since Woodrow Wilson. With this in mind, do not downplay what I call the “Virginia presidential pride factor,” for Mark Warner could be the state’s best shot for long awaited number nine. He could garner votes from older voters who actually care about this.
Keeping Virginia “Obama blue” will be a major objective for Mark Warner as Obama’s VP running mate, for his boss will really be counting on him to deliver the state in 2012.
Obama’s ambassador to business land
Senator Warner could be extremely effective building new bridges to the business community, since the Obama administration has been accused by business leaders of fostering an anti-business climate, which has resulted in a slow recovery with high unemployment.
As Obama’s running mate, Warner, the former venture capitalist, could serve as Obama’s roving ambassador, able to be deployed on dangerous diplomatic missions to hostile territories such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
The trip to the top is faster without baggage
Mark Warner is known as a squeaky clean family man. He is not a rock star in the Hillary/Obama mold, but has a reputation as a brilliant political strategist who actually enjoys getting out and pressing the flesh on the campaign trail. Since no one outside of the D.C. area has ever heard of Mark Warner, after he is selected as Obama’s running mate, his image could be carefully crafted to play in Peoria.
While in the Senate, Warner has been a quiet freshman and has virtually disappeared from the national scene. But when the VP buzz starts, he will make a strong reentry and be very useful to Obama for fundraising, thanks to his own deep pockets and his many friends with their own deep pockets.
The Obamas already know that Mark Warner and his very low-profile wife, Lisa Collis (note: she does not use the name Warner), would not pull a Sarah Palin and overshadow either Barack or Michelle on the campaign trail. That is likely an important consideration for both the president and first lady in selecting a new VP running mate.
Best of all, there are no obvious skeletons in Mark Warner’s closet. Unless one considers excessive ambition a form of baggage. For according to Mark Warner’s Wiki profile:
When his parents visited him at college at George Washington University in DC, he obtained two tickets for them to tour the White House. When his father asked him why he didn’t get a ticket for himself, he replied, “I’ll see the White House when I’m president.”
The second spot in 2012 means the first shot in 2016
Warner is eminently qualified to step in as president if the unspeakable happens.
More likely, however, Warner would be in a premium position as the 2016 Democratic frontrunner from two perspectives. First, as the sitting vice president running for “Obama’s third term,” and second, if Obama is defeated in 2012 (assuming the press does not hold Warner responsible for Obama’s loss), then Warner would be the natural frontrunner in 2016 to unseat the White House occupants who were victorious over Obama/Warner in 2012.
Unexpected plot twists
If 2012 turns into a Hillary vs. Obama rematch, with Hillary launching a successful primary challenge and defeating Obama, my prediction still stands. For I am confident Hillary would also select Mark Warner as her running mate for all the aforementioned reasons.
(History buffs will know that the only incumbent president who has ever been denied the nomination by his own party was President Franklin Pierce in 1856.)
Bonus reason for predicting Obama/Warner 2012
An Obama/Warner ticket would be historic, for it would be the first time two Harvard Law School graduates ran on the same ticket. That alone should keep Glenn Beck hopping with some great new material!

You gave every reason Obama won’t pick Warner. He is moderate and actually has real world experience. Obama hasn’t picked a single person with those qualifications for anything. I doubt he will start now. Plus no one with a political future will want anything to do with this administration after November.
Obama might start falling back on good advice. He’s tried everything else.

These ruling classers aren’t stoopid people. All of them clearly understand the concept of perpetuating and increasing power over the lives of the little helpless folks.
Mark Warner is likable, although I’ve never found likability a sufficient reason to vote for him here in Virginia.
He is moderate only by comparison with Obama, and he and his successor Gov. Kaine did not do well by my state. They are both tax-and-spend liberals.
Obama will likely not be denied re-nomination by the Democrats; they’re too afraid of a certain racial group that has taken the place of the “Yellow Dog” Democrats that used to inhabit Dixie.
That is, blacks will vote for a black, no matter what he stands for. The Dem leadership knows and fears this fact. The only way for us to be done with Obama is to vote against him in 2012.

But are we sure Mark Warner believes it a good idea? Warner doesn’t sound like somebody interested in sitting in 2nd place. In addition, if Obama is detested in 2011 is he is right now, that’s a big albatross around Warner’s neck. He would forever be tied to the inept and smug Obama. Voting for abominations like ObamaCare is one thing; being Obama’s running mate quite another.
I think smart money says any electable Democrat wants to put as much distance as possible between their political aspirations and Obama. Obama has turned out to be the best Christmas present the Republican party has received since Jimmah Carter. Let’s hope Republicans make better use of their big gift this time.
First of all, I dont think Joe Biden goes anywhere. Deep down inside he is disgusted, knowing damn well he’d be a way better president himself, and might jump ship to bolster a primary challenger’s campaign. Personally, I think the other Virginia senator Jim Webb might be offered first. S*&^, why not Warner-Webb? It is also an element of divine design that the Virginia governor’s post is elected at the odd-year following the president elections; for example a Virginia governor who made his private money off of real-estate might be a big-time statist only for the fact that federal largesse directly and indirectly draws interest to his properties. A governor cannot run on 3-years experience (dont let that deter you, Chris C.!!).
I just hope the young turks of 2010 on the Republican side dont sit back and let the Party nominate another fuddy-duddy. Looking back, it was advantageous for the Class of ’94 to let Clinton off easy for 1996 so that they would have some years of experience and bigger campaign chests for 2000.

That is a likely scenario but she will have to be real crafty to pull it off. As for winning, well, there is only one President Clinton in Bill’s household and he is it.

VPs have a tough row to hoe to become President. It is historically a stepping stone to doing speeches at ladies luncheons and glee clubs.
Now, the real prediction. Obama will lose his party’s nomination if Hillary can find a way out of SOS and make Oba Mao look bad doing it. She will be the nominee if she can pull that stunt off. Watch the soon to fail peace talks in the middle east. It is her opportunity after the elections.
Agreed, she’s yearning for the failure, which has already happened. Hamas and PLO already in reconciliation talks, Hamas testing the Gaza border and trying to stage mass attacks in Judea/Samaria. When it officially happens, she’ll blame (mostly) Israel, and start her campaign. Thus does Obama prove the religious prophecies true – by being such a shmock, he sets in motion her motivation, which ends this travesty and lets Israel get on with the business of survival. It all adds up.
The poll numbers are telling Obama and the Democrats it’s time to get out of Dodge. The deficit, pushing 14 trillion, is politely nudging the brown eyed handsome man; make like a hockey player, it’s saying, and get the puck out. If honest, hard working, patriotic, tea partying Americans are the threat, Barack’s boys are screaming, “condition red.”
Hovering around Obama are progressives, socialists, marxists, whatever you want to call greedy, creepy people whose greasy outstretched palms are yelling, “fill me up” while nice, politically correct Alinsky inspired wealth redistribution schemes dance around in their heads. Designed, of course, to suck in voters who I’ve come to believe, and I could be wrong about this, just don’t know any better.
Of course, Obama got voted in by white, politically correct gullibles who swallowed his platitudinal speeches like a big fat striped bass swimming off Montauk Point swallows the bait hook line and sinker. The anointed one’s last three speeches were so full of the same spammy tripe, long on trite, meaningless, biased, prosaic statements; Rachel calls em’ verbal loogies. But short on specifics. Very short. No meat just spam. If Obama’s speeches were measured by the number of real, actionable, beneficial specifics in them, in people terms they’d be dwarfs.

A couple of days ago, when Obama panicked because the GOP “Pledge to America” was full of actionable specifics, like repealing ObamaCare, Obama gave a speech full of meaningless specifics. Hey, he’s a lawyer. Playing with language is what he chose to spend three years learning how to do.
Was it yesterday or the day before when Obama slammed the GOP “Pledge to America?” It reminded me of the way he sounds when Obama slams average hard working Americans who only ask for the benefits of being legal citizens. Americans who respectfully ask that their borders be secured so that drug cartels don’t cross into the United States and kill their families; Americans who want the national treasury respected, not looted, destroying the American dream for their children; Americans who want the best medical system in the world preserved, not destroyed with a lunatic idea called ObamaCare.
Golly, Obama doesn’t like that “Pledge to America at all.” Maybe because it reminds him of his pre-election promises that post-election he forgot to keep.
From no earmarks to having the most transparent administration in history to being the first-post partisan, post-racial President. Here’s where Obama really started accumulating those Frequent Liar Miles. In all of United States history, Obama has proved to be the most divisive, most racially biased man ever to occupy the oval office.
You don’t want me to recite chapter and verse the specifics to back this up. Do you? Does the name Sgt. James Crowley ring a bell?
Why, the first thing Barack and Holder cooked up after getting elected was an asinine statement calling white males cowards when it comes to race. Not just white males in Mississippi mind you. Or Arkansas. Or Kansas. But all of them; the whole kit and caboodle. Including of course the tens of thousands fighting two wars for the brown eyed handsome man. If that sounds like post-racial, I’m a natural blonde.
Giving the voter intimidating Black Panthers a get out of jail free card was I think the racial straw that broke the camel’s back. Democrats calling somebody a racist, after that, is like the boy who cried wolf.
Sorry, Dems, but with that single racist act, Obama and Holder shot the whole Democratic Party in the foot. I realize the Hannities and the Becks of the world don’t realize it yet. For one thing, their heads are on the firing line. But listen to Rachel. A Democrat throwing the race card now has the potency of a 60 year old man on blood pressure medicine who’s run out of Viagra. Obama dealt from the bottom of the deck once too often. And lost.
But so has our nation. In every way imaginable, Obama’s screwed up this country. Yes, totally and completely on purpose. With huge malice of forethought. Premeditation. He hates this nation like a woman hates a man who did her wrong. Obama hates everything this nation stands for. The “Pledge to America” isn’t exactly anti-American, and Obama instantly hated it with a passion usually reserved for child molesters. When he sent that bust of Churchill back to England, any doubt anybody ever had about where Obama’s allegiances lie should have disappeared.
If Obama were a puzzle, that single act should have put a lot of pieces together for you. He hates Britain as much as he hates America.
Does this not explain for all concerned why Obama goes against the 70% majority of this nation every chance he gets? What President in his right mind would sue Arizona for wanting federal law enforced. Only Obama. And not just because he wants his comprehensive amnesty plan to deliver 15 million new Democratic votes. To Obama, it’s one more step down the path to destroy America. Obama is Americaphobic.
If Obama’s driven this nation into an economic, social, political and international ditch, it’s because he steered it precisely in that moronic marxist, anti-American-values, bankrupt direction. By now, we all know what Obama wants. He wants the power to suck tax money and fees; (money in whatever form he can think up) from the hard working citizens he detests. You know who they are. They’re the ones who Obama says “cling to their guns and bibles.” As well as every other American who feels pride when they see old glory flying in the breeze.
What utter contempt our President has demonstrated for the people he’s supposed to represent. If there’s an ounce of decency in the man, I haven’t seen it. He’s out to destroy us, folks, because he possesses all the antipathy felt by the savages who flew the planes into the Twin Towers on 9/11. And more and more you can see the hate bubbling to the surface.
Why did Obama buzz New York after he was elected? Why do you think? Why is he so pro mosque when decency says it’s the wrong thing to do? In ObamaWorld, up is down. Right is wrong. Black is white. In ObamaWorld, a world of hate is felt and hopefully expressed for the America you and I know and love.
I truly believe that Obama is so disconnected to mainstream America that it’s like somebody who speaks only German trying verbally to communicate with somebody who speaks only Japanese. Do Obama’s actions confound you? Of course they do. He’s President of the wrong country.
Now where does all this leave us?
Today, September 27th, it leaves us with a dangerous perp. He’s free to roam the countryside, yet knows the jig is up. People are onto him. If he were a spy, you’d say his cover’s been blown.
At this point in time, looking at it from just a practical point of view, Obama wants votes, especially independent votes so badly he can taste it. They’d give him the leftist congress he needs to rubber stamp the further Stalinization of America. Unfortunately, for America, congress has become the enabler that allows the President to literally loot the national treasury while damaging the country in innumerable other ways. Obama’s last three speeches have demonstrated his desire to restate the same stale narrative he’s been regurgitating every chance he gets. He’ll say anything he thinks will get him votes. Like the Koran teaches it’s okay to lie, Obama’s been lying through his teeth to the American public since the day he took the oath of office.
But 70% or more of America is onto him. Run again in 2012? When pigs fly. Never happened.
ObamaWords aren’t worth a plugged nickle. Only the country’s progressive marxists believe them. Because ObamaWords are empty. Meaningless to any American who wants this nation to survive. And thrive once more. Which it will. Because the American will bends, but doesn’t break.
Barack, you truly are the carnival barker, the snake oil salesmen. You’re the wife beater who, when the police arrive, tells them it was just a bloody misunderstanding. How much hope you have for your marriage.
Obama, you’re unlike Lenin and Stalin. You have a bigger hurdle to climb than hu Jinto, the President of China, because the guys I mentioned actually believed and believe most of what they said. You, President Obama, believe what Saul Alinsky wrote in Rules for Radicals, your Koran, and consequently are in the unenviable position of believing almost nothing of what you say. Which is one reason you tend to lower your volume these days as you spout voluminous lies.
Like the eye is drawn to movement, the voice, taking cues from the brain, is aware of untruths and tends to make the voice fumble over them. The prime example is how the words, “preserve protect and defend” during Obama’s oath of office, barely had a chance to escape from his mouth unscathed. To speak loudly, with passion, without believing a word of what you say, one must almost be a fine actor, or a con artist. Obama, unfortunately, I have to place in the second category. He is the consummate con artist. That’s the pity of it. The harsh reality of it; He is also the President of the United States.
Whose actions speak louder than words. He squandered almost a trillion dollar Stimulus; included virtually nothing in the area of shovel ready projects designed to renew our infrastructure. Yet, it doesn’t dissuade him from doing the same with billions more. Has he no decency? Is the sun hot? Obama’s not just looting our tax money, he’s stealing the American Dream from our children. He’s set time bombs to wreck their tomorrows. Booby trapped futures for generations.
Where’s the money gone?
Millions upon millions of dollars have slid secretly and unseen into pockets of supporters. ObamaHenchmen say it was just too much money to keep track of. Nobody had experience in keeping track of such large sums, some of which was sent to districts in America that don’t even exist. Inexplicably the huge money transfers were made anyway. Obama created so many millionaires in that first 13 months of his administration that even Wall Street was impressed.
The ObamaShow isn’t the greatest one on earth. It’s something else. It’s the biggest demonstration of Presidential corruption on earth. No President in the history of this nation more deserves to be led out of the White House in handcuffs.
Barack Hussein Obama has desecrated the alter of freedom for which hundreds of thousands of Americans have given their lives. After that, there is no coming back. Only a comeuppance to look forward to. If not in this world, then the next.

I agree with those who say he won’t run. It is hard to believe – despite available evidence – that the Democrats have reached the levels of masochism that would let them tolerate Barry totally ruining their party, and for good. No, Barry will not be running in 2012, and may resign next year.
It will certainly be entertaining to watch. I’m sure they will try to come up with some lame excuse, but can you just imagine the cries of “racism” when the one is denied the ticket? I can see him “resigning” before 2012.
I think he’ll quit first, and certainly he’ll blame racism for perceptions of him and his policy. Then he’ll retire to Chicago, ‘write’ his book and go on endless speaking tours of the 57 states. Hopefully, The Israeli Interior Minister will bar him from going to the ‘West Bank’ or Gaza – hopefully.
I still think the Obama’s will move to France; they will not stay in America.

It may well be Warner as the Democratic VP nominee in ’12 but I do have one contention with your article. You call Warner a moderate. There are no moderate Democrats and there are certainly no conservative Democrats. Democrats come in four flavors. They are liberal, very liberal, extremely liberal and so corrupt that no philosophy can describe them. Warner is liberal or very liberal. If he is #37 in the Senate then are at least 22 Democrats less liberal than he. Anyone to the left of 22 Senate Democrats can’t be anywhere but in the middle of his party and that means solidly liberal at best.
I think that Hillary, if she runs (and I believe there is a very good possibility of that) might well pick Warner as a running mate, for the reasons given.
Obama? Not a chance. He’s not enough of a pragmatist for those reasons to matter; he’s pretty much a pure ideaologue.
The first thing we need to do is capture a higher percentage of the white vote. We have a government that has codified, institutional racist policies against the white working and middle class people. If we had the guts to fight this travesty we would pick up the percentage points necessary to win every national election without compromising lawless give aways to non whites.
By doing what is morally right by ending discrimination against white people we can galvanize our base without losing other demographics and will get the Northeast white union voter which we need. A subtantial amount of non white conservatives would support a race neutral government. That is all we need. No more pandering. All we need is about a pickup of 5% points of the white vote to return to Constitutional rule. If we get more of the white vote we can not only sustain our Western culture now but our future by changing Ted Kennedy’s Immigration act of 1965. This will benefit all Americans regardless of their race. We must get the government out of the race business.
White union voters are so brainwashed by what their union leaders tell them that they vote against God and country while discriminating against their own families for something that they never get that all we need to do is to tell them that we will stop this real and despicable discrimination and we will get their vote. We’ll never lose again nationally if we get their vote.
Biden is the next best thing to having no VP at all, which would be Obe’s preference. There can be only one.

For starts, I don;t think the Alleged Hawaiian will run for re-election, since a second term holds out nothing for him but further failure, so take this for what it’s worth.
I also don;t think Warner would be asked to run as VP, since doing so would mean giving up a DemocRatic seat in the Senate, (something the DemocRats will be even more loath to do), and with Guv’nah McDonnell safely in Richmond, you can bet your sweet bippie that Once and Future Senator George Allen will be a-waiting by the telephone for the call that appoints him.
The other thing to consider is that Warner, having more than two brain cells to rub together and knowing how to make an honest buck, would want nothing whatsoever to do with the Odministration…why do you THINK he’s been such a “stealth senator”?
He’s smart and he’s ambitious, and he knows good and well that the moonbats leading his party, who accept the Daily Kos as their “Kospel of Mainstream”, have been heading for a colossal shipwreck.
Now that all said, Warner would be an attractive candidate, and paying his dues in Old Dominion politics DOES (usually), imbue one with a certain genteel gravitas…unless one is congenitally prone to massive brain-farts,(like Guv’nah “Eyebrow” Kaine).
But seeing as how the Right Honorable Gentleman would STILL be running as a DemocRat, that would mean that the gravitational pull exerted upon him and his agenda would be always leftwards…and I think folks have had quite enough of THAT.
Had DemocRats run people like Warner in 1988, or 2004, or 2008…we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

I don’t know that Obama will make a presidential run in ’12…but I would not be suprised if he doesn’t have an eye for a SCOTUS nomination (him being a constitutional scholar and all). Now that would be a bit of political pay for play, wouldn’t it? He bows out for whatever reason, endorses whoever runs (Hillary/Warner? and it might work if the Republican fail to deliver a miracle after this November) and gets rewarded with a SCOTUS seat.

I live in VA and Mark Warner could not get re-elected as senator today. He has been a huge disappointment (along with Jim Webb). He would be another John Edwards, looks good on a national ticket, but couldn’t be re-elected in his own state…kiss of death in my opinion. Warner and Webb have been awful for Virginia.
My feelings exactly! Warner was not nearly as popular a governor as some make him out to be. He’s learned to lay low and has virtually no public profile as a senator. He will be looking for a golden parachute out of the senate as his term expires – don’t think it will land him anywhere near Pennsylvania Avenue. If there’s any consolation in it for Warner – Webb has been a much bigger disappointment than he has been as senator. Geez – what a lame pair!
Maybe it should be warner/obama…either way,, they lose.
Hillary isn’t running- it would wreck her place in history and she would lose- you can’t run against the party machine and win the generals. Her place in history is pretty good right now and she is very aware of this. She is going to run at 68 years old in 2016. She will resign as SOS in 2012 after Obama is reelected- I don’t love him but who are the repugs going to put up to beat him? The mormon guy? The moose-hunting governor? The ex-speaker who left his wife on her deathbed? The crazy ex-senator from PA? I just don’t see it happening. So she leaves in 2012- probably before the 2nd term starts. Unless she is offered VP- which she would take. He is not putting Mark Warner in the VP slot-the way things are, a new Dem can’t win the VA seat.
Those liberal rankings were a joke- based on almost no votes taken because Barack was campaigning- he only came back for important legislation- otherwise he is next to Hil for the first 2 years of his term, when they served together.

You forgot Gov. Huckabee, who has the best approval numbers among potential GOP candidates. Huckabee will beat Obama if he runs, just you wait and see.
Kathleen Sebelius is one of the sleeziest Dems out there. Watch the woman, almost every word out of her mouth is a cynical lie. She hates the idea of market economy, or of choice. Also, as if that were not enough, I believe she is the past head of the US Tort Lawyers association, which speaks for itselt….

I could see that. It’s pretty moot though as no one is going to believe that Biden is responsible for Obama’s problems. Biden is a joke and he’s treated as such. Obama will be judged on his own and all the firings will make him more insulated and isolated. It can only hurt and make him look more indecisive.

Warner won’t even help Obummer in VA now, he may be “moderate” but he went against the vast majority of his constituents and voted for Obummer’s biggest priorities. And in VA, he will find it hard to go back. He is already worried about getting relected after having easily gained his seat.
I know, Hillary & Obama. obama as the vep. That way they can be the HO party. And it’s Hillary’s turn at screwing the county any way.
I wish this might happen because Warner, who has voted like an obedient puppy for everything his dear leaders Obama and Reid demanded (and you would think he would be smarter than that, more savvy, and have much more *spine* than that, given his background of success in various venues), is not up for re-election in the senate until 2014.
If he stepped aside to run as VP in 2012, that would give Virginia the chance to replace both Webb and Warner with republicans.
But given how spineless and squishy he now appears to this Virginian, I’m thinking that the warm bath that is the Senate is probably his comfort level and we might be stuck with him for many moons.
I certainly hope we aren’t stuck with him for many years. No doubt he has been a yes-man for this Administration, and if the Republicans can nominate a well-spoken opponent – Bob McDonnell? George Allen? – they may well re-take Warner’s seat. I voted for Warner as governor and Senator; he will never get my vote again b/c of what he has done since going to Washington.

Please, there is no way hillary would reject a veep offer. Team clinton will do everything in its power to dump biden in 2012 and replace him with hillary. The trick will be to get obama and biden, maybe offer him sec of state job in obama term 2 and than in hillary term 1 if she wins in 2016, to go for it. The concept of obama dumping biden and than not picking hillary doesn’t fly.
Hillary is just as polarizing as Obama. She will not win back the independents. It will be Obama and a half, or maybe more accurately Hillary and a half, in 2012. Of course, I didn’t think that America would elect another liberal as President. And I also voted for Perot in ’92, so what the heck do I know.
Obama, (if he runs again), would NEVER pick the UberFrauFuhrer for a VP.
