There was no miracle in moving out of the “Gorbachev’s empire” in 90-th. The door was open wide and any soviet Jew can do that. Hundred thousands moved out then. I do not understand why you call it “sneaking out”. You may confuse it with some 70-th, Brezhnev time? Memory or knowledge problem?
Mahmud Abbas indeed got some education in Moscow, but that was not Moscow who promoted him to the current position. He is the USA favored Palestinian leader. If you like HAMAS better, you may apply to Washington and ask them not support Abbas.

As an Ex-Russian Jew, who’s family miraculously got to sneak out of crumbling Gorbachev’s empire in the 1990s, I know and understand all too well what you are so passionate about.

Here in Israel the miasms of rottening Neo-Soviet corpse are felt and very real: Hizballa “Katushas” on Northen Israel – and now out of Gaza too; Moscow-educated Holocaust-denier Mahmud Abbas negotiating the Final Solution in Jerusalem; russian-oil-money-backed satraps in Syria and Teheran aiming to wipe us from the map – with Soviet/Russian weaponry of choice, of course.

My only wish is to see Russians out-vodka themself to hell as quick as possible – though they are heading pretty well in the right direction.

I don’t care who pays you for doing this so important job, and frankly, I do believe that this project is just your private commitment out of deep understanding of democracy values – and seing Russia exactly like it is: butchered “geno-fond” left only with DNA of slaves, thugs and cowards.

One example of Ms.Zigfield’s spin is her classifying of Andrei Kozlov as Putin’s opponent, without presenting any evidence.

How are we supposed to confront it, exactly? Send Dick Cheney to Vilnus to say some angry words? Isolate Russia economically? There wasn’t a single time when these “confrontations” didn’t backfire. The biggest threat from Russia is not a war; it’s anarchy, and the threat of nukes acquired by people far more dangerous than Putin’s gang. The current regime in Kremlin is indeed criminal, but getting all self-righteous about it and focusing our anger on Russia – instead of, say, our friends the Saudis – is a really stupid thing to do. It only makes things worse for us, and for the ordinary Russians.

In the long run, Russia is screwed. Demographics will take care of that. 70 years of atheism tried to extinguish Russians’ conception of the purpose of life, and so they don’t conceive much anymore. Putin knows this, which is why he pays ritual homage to reviving Russian Orthodoxy. But he and the Russian people will fail so long as it is mere blood-and-soil tribal religion and not the Subject of the apostolic faith that is pursued.

The one thing that can be said about Marco Borg’s post is that Russians have been coached for centuries to hate Jews, and that training will serve them well under their future Moslem overlords.
