Hmmm… The timing of this and Spector’s fleeing to the demosocialistacrats is a bit on the suspicious side. But after reading a few other articles about Souter retiring, I think the commiecrats and the mullah obamaham may find it tough sledding to get a baby killing, American hating judge into the Supreme Court. Maybe obuma will nominate one of the gitmo creeps for the open seat on the Supreme Court?
Flashback: The satirist Ann Coulter used this photo (in Godless) of the Justice to illustrate the truth about phrenology. Priceless.
So is Souter a RINO too for retiring at this time? When this news came out far-right Republicans collectively must have done a spontaneous rendition of the Wicked Witch of the West: I’m melting, I’m melting!
Hey Middleman–
Us “far right wing Republicans” are actually chanting “ding Dong the Witch is dead” Are you a complete dumba**??Souter is no RINO–he’s a lefty through and through–our only “melting senario” would be if Scalia, Thomas, Roberts or Alito would quit with Bambi at the helm…You are truly a Wizard of Idiots…
I can’t wait to see the reaction when
Scalia, or Thomas steps down. This is too funny
The vast right wing collapse continues. Pretty soon we’re going to have to exhume you to ridicule you.
Should I start preparing myself for the re-education camps? Souter will replaced by another Anti-American liberal, so I see no change in the court structure. And I doubt the left will see the vast right wing consperity collapse in the near future. In fact I expect it to get stronger. The liberals have won an election, they haven’t won the WAR.
You guys must be delighted now that you gave Obama the 60 voltes he needs for cloture
I’d like to extend my condolences to those on the political right who must be feeling pretty awful right now. I know what that sinking feeling in the gut is like when the president of the other party is able to select whomever he wants as Supreme Court Justice, based on whatever criteria he likes and feels is appropriate and whose philosophy will reshape jurisprudence as he sees fit for decades to come, to fill an opening on the Supreme Court. It must be even more awful to know that you don’t even have the votes to slow it down. You’re gonna prattle on and bicker but in the end you and your ilk will be powerless to stop whomever Obama selects. Obama will, of course, select a very young candidate so that his/her influence will be lasting. What a glorious time for hard working American families! What a glorious time to be alive and see history in the making!
#10 savage24, actually you’re wrong. The liberals have actually won both the election and the war. If war is defined as having something to show for your efforts then what does the political right have to show for theirs? I can’t think of one thing. Certainly your side has managed to perhaps slow some things down but in the end your side still lost. Think about all the social issues like abortion, gay rights, etc., Your side will NEVER overturn abortion rights. Moreover, the Republican establishment doesn’t want them overturned because they know they can always use the issue to fan the false fires of overheated minds and get the ignorant to vote their way. Health care is coming up and once that is passed, and it will be, the Democratic Party will be seen even more as the party that stands on the side of hard working American families. The Republicans will be seen as the party that said no to their children. When working families have affordable healthcare you won’t be able to pry their vote out of their cold dead hand. Guaranteed!
Everyone here on the left celebrating is delusional. Woo-Hoo!! “The One” gets to appoint a SCJ. Great! Someone young…..long lasting influence…. It’s all B.S.
Souter leaving, does not change the make-up of the Supreme Court.
Seems the leftnuts are once again desperately trying to portray conservatives as in trouble. We are not. We know what we look for & expect. It is those who play in your sandbox we do not want & Souter & Specter fit that bill. We know we are better off w/o them since all they do is claim to be one of us while they act like, one of you.
How is that… lies, distortions, fabrications, & agitations, just like good Lil collectivist socialist organizers!
Perhaps everyone should calm down just a tad. Selecting a justice is one thing. How the justice rules over the long haul quite another: Souter provides an example. Lot’s of good legal talent available for Obama to choose from. Given his inside baseball view of this, you can bet he’s going to choose a very good candidate: one who’s not a mere political hack and one who can go toe to toe with Scalia and others. Anyone who thinks that Scalia, Thomas, Alito, Roberts or Kennedy would be in the least bit intimidated by, or for that matter unwelcoming of, argument from a greater mind than Souter has paid little if any attention to what any of these folks have written or said.
Anything to distract from the crashing and burning USA economy.
I bet you talk to your children like that too, don’t you Lisa?
Souter was still a Bush appointee. It may not be a big change, but it still has psychological merit.
Savage24,
Winning the War? Perhaps you should rethink who the real enemy is.
C’mon Sout! The looming Constitutional crisis over BHO’s (non) birth certificate/eligibility can’t be that scary. Or can it.
Man, I sure do get all moist when I hear the crapola that “sheesh” and Lamont Cranston spew about the moribund Republican party. I hope they keep believing that and keep preaching it to their fellow travelers.
Also, please be sure to have your hero, the Gasbag-in-Chief, keep up the sniping about teabags too. Like you out-of-touch lefties, old “Move-it-up-a-bit” TOTUS will wonder who was driving the truck that hit him in three-plus years.
I am horrified, I just saw Janet Napolitano’s face on the news as a possible replacement for Souter. Our rights are supposed to be protected by a woman who calls conservative protesters…”domestic terrorists”?
Heh. I was going to listen to this commentary from Glenn Reynolds, but I got a haircut last night and well, my barber is more capable of delivering intelligent commentary than Glenn Reynolds.
The idea of a nomination from Obama is so scary that you just want to cry or commit hari-kari. Check out this acerbic satire: Beltway Stunner: Obama Nominates Himself To Replace Souter On Supreme Court – http://bit.ly/Su7kp — it is not far from the truth.
