I have been convinced for years that under the new definition, there were really only 2 qualifications to be a racist, or at least be branded one. 1. You must be white(otherwise any race that allowed things like Miss BLACK America or “La Raza”(“the race” and it ain’t the white race)would be called racist and 2. You must wake up in the morning or sometime during the day, in other words, you are alive to some degree.
If you have those 2 qualifications, you too may be a racist.
The Founding Fathers have been dead for some time, and they’re still considered racist, so requirement #2 is questionable.

In my lifetime I’ve learned two things about Americans: 1) They hate being lied to (those “shovel-ready jobs, remember), and 2) They hate being played for suckers (“invest” in “Green energy” for our salvation and Obama would be our first “post-racial” president, ugh). Obama has managed to do both while, at the same time, spending us into oblivion. And what’s worse, we didn’t even get a lot in return for all the money he spent. Unemployment is still very high, the economy is a mess, we owe literally trillions of dollars we don’t have, and the prospects for our future look very bad UNLESS we make a change in November. So if you hated being lied to and hated being played for a sucker, you know what to do in November. Throw Obama out of office and let’s at least have a chance at a better tomorrow.
If Patriotism is the last refuge of scandals, Racism is the panic room for frightened leftists that are unprepared to deal with home invasions by truth and logic. Better to race to the panic room, seal the mind, hand-over-ears style, and wait for the scary boogey men to go away.
To be called a racist in a 21st century Western Nation is the equivalent of being called a heretic or witch at the height of the Inquisition. In Europe and Canada, to be charged with racism will get you hauled before a judge or human rights commission and sentenced to jail or go bankrupt defending yourself. In America, you can lose your job. There is no defense against the charge of racism; it is essentially a thought crime that cannot be disproven. Even if Zimmerman is acquitted, the fact that the media has painted him as a WHITE Hispanic racist means that he will be prosecuted by the DOJ for a hate crime.
The word RACIST is facilitating the mass suicide of Western civilization. Guilty whites will throw themselves and others over the cliff to prove they are not racist, and tolerate the most brutish, thuggish 3rd world behaviors as just as legitimate as the best of Euroopean civilization. To do otherwise would be racist!
I am afraid your column is too optimistic. I bet Obama will win over 50% of the white vote who are too afraid to be called racist for “voting the black man out of the white house”.

I’ve been noticing for the past several months the comment sections of many left leaning sites are now filled with conservative readers no longer afraid to voice their opinions.
It used to be you couldn’t post an opposing comment on a Huffington Post story without getting flamed by hardcore libs calling you every name in the book. Now not so much. The apologists are running out of apologies.

The issue all along has been whether there is institutional racism, not racism. There will always be racism. That latter reality is out of the gov’t hands and they should realize that and stay out. By not staying out, they have either helped maintain what have now morphed into de facto racist institutions, such as the Congressional Black Caucus, and created new ones like affirmative action.
Get back to us when there is a Miss White America TV show with mainstream ads and hosted by Ryan Seacrest. At that point in time you’ll more to share than an anecdote. Black folks during the history of Jim Crow probably wished all they had to face were racist anecdotes in the form of t-shirts rather than the full power of the gov’t. This distinction is one the Dem Party simply refuses to understand – they simply don’t practice that difference, but portray phrases such as “food stamp President,” in essence a rather innocent t-shirt, and the mere existence of the mostly white GOP and NHL too I guess as the sign of a vast underground white institution of racism.

Nobody said racism doesn’t exist. What people here are saying is that the term ‘racism’ is improperly overused or abused to tarnish a large variety of people, opinions and incidents that are not racist in nature. While at first, and for decades, this instrument (the abuse of the term ‘racism’) was effective in driving the political agendas of the people employing it, over time it gradually leads to discrediting the term and to the decreasing effectiveness of using it, much like the boy who cried “wolf”. Indeed, one of the many problems caused by the abuse of this term is that it will become increasingly difficult to deal with *real* racism because people will not believe the cry of racism anymore even when the term is properly used, i.e. in real racist incidents.
So you say. But if you are like every other lefty, you created the accusation in your head, or actually you did what you accused others of doing. What’s next? The racism charge is an excuse for Obama’s incompetence, no more, no less.
The charge of racism and bigotry goes far beyond that on the Left. It is the antidote for all 2nd place finishes for anything or anyone but a white guy and also anyone who points out that marriage is in fact a de facto baby factory.
The broadening of any definition tends to pull in many innocents. You Americans saw this with NOW’s constant expansion of the definition of “Rape” until it reached the ludicrous stage in which a man could “look at a woman the wrong way” and be guilty of rape (the charge later being reduced to “mind rape”).
Now Racism has reached that same low level: If you don’t agree with Mr. Obama, you’re a racist. As the old saw goes:
A young black man was called into his manager’s office for a termination hearing. The young Black man stated: “You’re firing me because I am Black!”

Proud to be a racist now, and because the term is so abused and misused, it no longer has the sting, that the dem/libs/ think it has.
If you begin with the premise that all men and all social groups are created equal, a society that allows some social cohorts to succeed (Jews, Asians) while others fail (African-Americans, white trash, Indians) is inherently unfair. This is because of the falsity of the Jeffersonian premise. By equal, he meant equal before the law (so long as you were a propertied male British subject). This is the contradiction at the heart of America: We presuppose equality, and then puzzle at unequal outcomes. All men are not created equal any more than all beagles or cows are created equal. All social systems ultimately reward certain human attributes: thrifty, law-abiding, hard-working, initiative, studying, and, yes, intelligence. Attempts to create egailitarian utopias have always resulted in extreme inequality.
You are apparently confused by the difference between the “equal outcome” and “equality of opportunity” definitions imposed on the word “equal”. “Created Equal”, as used in the declaration means we all start out with the same opportunity. What we do with it is up to us.

The Race Industry has been with us for a long time, but when Obama was elected, I’m sure we all hoped that would be put behind us. In fact, Barack Obama campaigned on that and promised it. Instead, he ratcheted up the race rhetoric with his actions, and now race relations are the worst they’ve been in decades. We could still repair the damage, if only Obama supporters could open their eyes and see that he is not the Black Jesus, and he can fail at his job despite being black (I won’t even bother with his white half, since he has obviously abandoned that).
America has already proven we can elect a black man (and eventually an Asian, a Jew, a Hispanic, a woman) to the highest office in the land. We don’t have to prove anything any more.
Yes, the election of the first black president did set back race relations, but it had nothing to do with Obama, and everything to do with Republican racists who went completely psychotic in the aftermath of a black guy getting elected. Obama never promised that race would no longer be an issue after his election. But I do remember during the 2008 election getting an email every other week from some crazy aunt or uncle with a picture of Obama with a bone through his nose, or a picture of him on a dollar bill with fried chicken and watermelon. But sure, you’re right, that’s all Obama’s fault.
Name one mainstream law, organization or website formally organized around race that has mainstream ads, support and celebrities on the political Right – just one.

Last week I had a conversation with an elderly black woman over why I do not like Obama.(I’m white BTW) There was another middle aged black gentleman listening, and he was smiling at me as if he agreed with what i said. When I walked away for a moment the black woman whispered to the gentleman that I was racist. I called her on it and she backed off, saying she was only kidding. (yeah right, uh huh.) I said I did’nt care that he was black but I cared that he was RED. Besides being completely uniformed about what he was doing she had no arguement. I told her to go ahead and call me a racist if it made her feel better and that was the end of the discussion. She had nothing more to say

Interesting. I was instantly and personally banned by T-N Coates at the Atlantic this week for making a similar comment deemed by the cowardly libs there to be racist — i.e. that I had no problem at all with Obama’s blackness but lots of problems with him being red.
This was in response to Coate’s harangue about racist Appalachian Democrats voting against Teh Beloved One in the primaries.
I could talk about my mixed race family, interracial marriage, or working enthusiastically for minorities for most of my life but it wouldn’t make any difference. To people like that a “racist” is anyone to whom they are losing ground on the facts in a political dispute. It’s sad but the word has been so abused it has lost its power — great article PJ Media!
I was banned by Coates for one single comment asking him to voluntarily not write about race for one year, something I challenged him that white folks do in their private lives effortlessly. Coates is his ilk are their own worst enemies. He will counter that not thinking about it is my unawareness of my own white privilege and so I am a de facto racist. If Coates couldn’t write about race, he’d have nothing to write about, or a life.

The reason “only white countries” opened up for mass-immigration: What masses of white people would want to immigrate into Cameroon, or Rwanda, or Yemen, or Laos or El Salvador? For many years I’ve been called a racist knee jerk right wingnut.
When my detractors meet my colored wife of several decades, they back off to “deluded conservative” or whatever, which according to my wife, makes them the racist. I love it. And that’s why I see your point.
Loved the article. The style was engaging and the thought stirred my heart. It is encouraging to think that “we get it now” applies to more than just the listeners of Rush or readers of a couple of web sites. The left, sitting in their dark little echo chambers, overestimated their power and vastly overplayed their hand these last 3 years. a. Oppose repeal of the 9th and 10th Amendments? How about the biggest of them all — the 2nd (ultimate guardian of all the others)?

c. Defending oneself (in any way at all) against a black mugger/robber/rapist/murderer.
d. Noticing the fact that any place where blacks have taken over — from a neighborhood to a nation — is a decaying Third World slum.

What people are finally starting to realize is that the word “racist” is simply the merger of the first three letters in “race” (or “racial”) and the last three letters in “realist.”

Once you internalize a resentment, nothing will ever be able to compensate for it, everything will be used as fuel to nourish it, and you will never extinguish it.
Each and every situation that doesn’t essentially give power to blacks over whites will be deliberately, tortuously misinterpreted as “racist” or “institutional racism”, thus always shifting the definitional goalposts and allowing blacks to never relinquish their contrived, lovingly nurtured sense of resentment.
This psychological sickness is rampant everywhere in the black community, individual blacks, and black politics. There is logically no end to this vicious cycle, and it will continue to tear our society apart until there is nothing left except chaos in the ruins.
