HBO’s Game of Thrones put President George W. Bush’s head on a spike. Was this a political statement or not? Plus, it was a tweet-filled Father’s Day for Ronan Farrow, the son of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen. Hear why. As usual, Matt Atchity of RottenTomatoes.com brings you a sneak peak of the latest Hollywood releases, including Brave, Seeking a Friend Before the End of the World, To Rome with Love and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

I was a fan of Game of Thrones until I read (and confirmed) this story. I called DirecTV and canceled HBO, telling them why in the process.
I am so sick and tired of Hollywood expecting me to subsidize their leftist politics. This sort of crap would stop if enough of us were willing to pop in a DVD or read a book rather than support their drek.
You are to be commended for your integrity. There are many conservatives who like HBO and will support their crap by maintaining their subscription. I canceled mine last year and find that I do not miss their lies and distortions at all.
The following is the comment I made on NRO when I first heard about this.
The choice of head was almost certainly some prop hand’s idea of a neat joke. The way it works is that the director screams “I need a bleeping head for the execution, where’s my bleeping head?” Then the stage manager screams at the property master “where’s the bleeping, bleep of a head for scene xxx?” Then the property master screams at her minions, “who’s responsible for the bleep of a bleeping bleep of a head?” Then one of the property hand’s scrambles around and find’s a box of presidential heads from something or other and says “Ooo, cool,” and finds the one he most recognizes, which since he’s probably in his 20s would be GWB and grabs it. None of the adults in charge either pay attention to the head he’s found or they’re chuckling at how appropriate it is to have the ex-leader executed for revolt against the current leader.
This is almost certainly a case of stupidity over malice, though I’m sure that some of the people who recognized what was going on took some malicious glee in it.
I switched off cable two ago and don’t miss it a bit. I watch what I want online or buy the dvds. No endless commercials, no $100+/month cable bill. I enjoy what I do watch much more now.
I do occasionally miss a golf tournament I’d like to see or something like that, so it’s not ideal (yet), but I still feel I’m better off. And I always have the satisfaction of knowing that I’m not chipping money into the leftist propaganda machine. How much of YOUR money is going into Bill Maher’s or David Letterman’s paycheck?
