It’s Oscar season and that means that across Los Angeles (but mostly Westside neighborhoods like Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Malibu) guild member mailboxes are chock full o’ DVDs of movies the major studios would like Academy members to watch and nominate. Lionel and I bring in our loot and let us peek behind the red velvet curtain. Do Academy members really see all the movies that are submitted? Who’s in the Academy anyway? Why are so many Academy members old white guys? Is this a problem? Tune in, either at PJTV or YouTube, to find out.

Roger L. Simon is an Academy Award-nominated screenwriter, novelist and blogger, and the co-founder of PJ Media. His book, Turning Right at Hollywood and Vine: The Perils of Coming Out Conservative in Tinseltown, was re-released in an updated edition in 2011.
