Chicago kids and young adults are being murdered at alarming rates. So why the silence from the White House and the left? President Obama is from Chicago and his former Chief-of-Staff Rahm Emanuel is now mayor. President Obama and Mayor Emanuel are eerily silent on the gun deaths in their hometown. The question is why? Find out as John Phillips, Tammy Bruce and Stephen Kruiser discuss one of the most missed stories of 2012.

The obvious answer is the same old one which was reinforced during the Trayvon Martin fraud: if you’re not the correct color as victim and killer, if it doesn’t fit into a leftist agenda and world view, it is of little interest.
It’s the same old double standard. For example, for some reason, white folks are always on the wrong side of the slavery issue, almost a century and a half after the fact, even though only a small percentage of Americans and in only half the country were involved. Race conveys guilt.
Using the same logic, one would think blacks would then always be on the wrong side of the crime issue, but they’re not. In fact, to invoke the same thinking in that instance is racism, even though crime stats back it up. Race diminishes and exaggerates reality. Race then does NOT convey guilt – you just have to have be an anti-racist, racist liberal to think about this the correct way. Race does carry guilt, even over decades, for whites, but doesn’t work the same way over 5 min. for blacks.
Excellent – well written and spot on!
Politico has a piece quoting ‘retired’ General McChrystal:
‘Retired’ Gen. Stanley McChrystal backed banning assault weapons on Tuesday, saying guns like the M4 and M16 belong in the hands of soldiers, not on the streets.

The good General ought to tell that to the families of the disarmed soldiers shot by one of their own officers at Fort Hood. Also ‘banning’ rifles is an infringement of the rights of Americans as expressed in the Constitution. He took an oath to protect and defend that Constitution, the hypocrite.
Oh, I should say that the quote marks around the word retired are mine alone.
Fail has it about right, except in the case of Chicago the problem is that young black men murdering each other is “routine.” It’s not a huge deal like a white guy killing a black guy or bunch of little white kids getting massacred. It’s more of a statistical baseline. It’s the American status quo that reinforces the liberals’ default opinions about their country: that there are too many guns on the street and too few entitlements for young black men.
George Will touched the truth last Sunday: there were 25 Newtown massacres in Chicago last year and no one in our elite, cared. There will be 25 Newtown massacres this year, and next. All of the murderers violate an existing law. Why would any thinking person consider that another new law, which only the law abiding will obey, will make any difference? Particularly when the government which would enforce it, intentionally gave 2000 weapons to drug killers who have killed 60,000 human beings? Particularly after the liberal media did not even cover the banned gun trans shipments? Their credibility lies in shambles.
If the Presidential study group only focuses on things, but ignores the human brokenness in our society, they will only do harm.
I honor Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s service, but his views, or any general’s views, on the 2 nd Amendment rights of civilians carries little weight. He served a civilian who serves all US civilians. It is vital to our freedom that this relationship be clear and respected.
As for Barack interrupting programming to declaim/hog the spotlight on Sandy Hook while being barely there on the daily violence in his city in a state with the most stringent “gun control” laws in the country…attention to one (Sandy Hook) promotes the agenda while attention to the other (Chicago) is simply mind bogglingly embarrassing.
Besides the Left engendered societal fragmentation and meltdown of “the family”, here is another societal aspect of many of these mass killings that is far less interesting to gun control freaks, to individuals like DiFi and Barack…
The giant, gaping hole in Sandy Hook reporting
Trouble is, we’ll never win an argument with sophisticated gun grabbers using logic, facts, and common sense. The reality is, in the eyes of a sensitive, big-hearted urban liberal, semi-autos and high capacity magazines are scary and therefore must be outlawed. Inconvenient facts surround them (Chicago included) but they simply don’t care any more than they do about the constitution. Every time there is a new tragedy they salivate and can’t start blowing their political horn of “bans” fast enough. The main stream media are complicit in that they NEVER report on instances of citizens with guns stopping a maniac.
As an example: Two days after the Sandy Hook massacre a potential mass shooting at a theater in San Antonio was stopped cold by an off duty female deputy sheriff when she shot the perpetrator four times. Incidents that end in this manner are never reported by the main stream national media, because like the horrible statistics in Chicago, it will embarrass them and their political allies.
They only believe that the senseless slaughter of the defenseless innocents merits their time and, more importantly their political agenda. That is shameless.
Chicago’s gun control laws are so tight they are probably unconstitutional. And yet, the murder rate is horrifying. The reason the murder rate is so bad is because people are desperate, family life is not valued, the education system is falling apart… –it’s because they have ignored everything else that makes a city worth living in.
I invite people from the City of Chicago to (re)read the Moynihan report: “The Negro Family: The Case for National Action” It has been widely condemned by the NAACP, Jackson, Sharpton and others, but it contains some very perceptive and caring points. Without families, there is no civility. Without civility there is no law. Without law, there is no culture, no city, nothing.
If anyone is so stupid as to think that we can fix this problem by banning weapons, I have this bridge in New York City I’d like to sell at a bargain price…
Gork wrote, “I invite people from the City of Chicago to (re)read the Moynihan report: ‘The Negro Family: The Case for National Action’ It has been widely condemned by the NAACP, Jackson, Sharpton and others…”
They condemned it because it was true and they had a vested interest in lies.
Tammy said that someone has to address “Culture, family, and faith” to help explain what is going on in Chicago. She is right. You don’t hear anybody at the White House or in Congress taking a look at our society or the people using the guns, like the mentally ill or a generation of young people raised on homicidal movies, cable TV, and video games. This alone may not cause a person to murder people, but it certainly does NOT help and it certainly is a major reason why our nation is as violent, as coarse, and as vulgar as it is today. If that’s all kids see today, then they will think it’s OK to behave that way in their own lives. But you’ll never get a liberal to admit that.

I have wanted to say, for a long time, how disappointing it is to see so many social commentators today sticking people with handles like “liberal” or “conservative” and pontificating vehemently on the sins they think they see in their neatly pigeon-holed mass of hypothetical people. It’s ignorant. People are just that, people. “Liberals” are perfectly capable of some degree of conservatism; “conservatives” can hold surprisingly liberal attitudes on all kinds of subjects, and in the real world most people have thoughts and feelings that encompass bits and pieces from all over the artificially sculpted “political spectrum”. None of them deseve to be demonized. Doing so does not equate with intelligence or wisdom in discourse. All it is, is sad.
We need to grow up. But I’m afraid we never will.
I don’t like the rabid overuse of the terms liberal and conservative, either.
For purposes of juxtaposing today’s Left and and individuals who favor individual initiative, personal responsibility, Constitutional constraints, a solid family environment and capitalism, I prefer the descriptive words…
