  3. Smitty,

    You say “sabotage.” I say “sab-a-taaage.” ;)

poor guy had to go to Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University

    i feel bad for him

having to go to an institution that is embarrassment to America, a debauchery of the education process, and a stain on what it means to be an educated and free human being must suck so much

  5. Daniel,

And yet, even though Roose still considers himself to be a man of the left, he managed to not only survive the experience, he even demonstrated remarkable tolerance for the friends he made there for the diversity of their ideas and faith. A lesser man might have resorted to hyperbole and ad hominem attacks even just thinking of such an experience.

I do not want to hear about how he went through this experience as if nobody else has. I am from the south. I lived through such stuff. I know EXACTLY what he went through. I am no stranger to what he had to experience. I have been through this stuff myself.

First I never ridiculed the student’s/faculty’s faith. I only meant to ridicule their views and actions.

One thing you should know, if you don’t know that already, that evangelicals, at least serious ones, are very, very, VERY far from what you would call tolerant. I will not stand here and be told that I have to respect what they believe. I will also not listen to people telling me how I am intolerant, because I ridicule them, and how they are the scared little lamb cowering before the big bad wolf that is me.

Anti-evolution class? That is a debauching of what it means to be an University, of science, and of education. After learning this crap they go out in society and use the courts to try to push their filth into the classroom instead of going through the scientific process. This stultifies children and only retards America’s quest to be a leader in science and discovery.

No hugging for more than 3 seconds? No dancing? What is up with this policy? It seems that LU is very much interested in separating the sexes and holds a very anti-physical policy. I find this a repressive and creepy view. This of course goes back to Christianity’s hate for the human body, the female body more specifically, and it’s hate for sexual intercourse. All of that is creepy and masochistic.

No smoking? No drinking? First of all if I am not mistaking Christ turned water into wine. Also forcing students to behave morally seems very antithetical to what being moral is. Treating the students as if they are children and slapping them on the wrist for common cultural things such as smoking or drinking. This is just a minor point and should not be given too much thought, but again it is a part of what is wrong with that institution.

I will write more later as right now I have to work.

I have to agree with Daniel on this one (for the most part). How do we expect these students to get married if we don’t allow them reasonable opportunities to interact with the opposite sex in public.
