In a triumph for the Constitution, Chief Justice Roberts convinced BHO to repeat the oath.
Since President Biden’s vice presidental oath was delayed, and the term of President Bush was over at 12:00, President Condolezza Rice was actin president. After Biden completed his oath, he was acting president until President Obama repeated the oath correctly.
It’s the Speaker of the House who is third in line, not Secretary of State.
“The terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January,…and the terms of their successors shall then begin.”
“Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath”
So Obama became President on noon tuesday, regardless of whether he had taken the oath of office, but could legally only begin “executing” the office until after the oath.
Still, can’t we just agree that Nancy Pelosi should go down in history as our first female President?
Please. I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.
