PJM Exclusive: More Video from Syria’s ‘Great Friday Uprising’ (Content Warning)
Zabaltani (outskirts of Damascus):
This video was shot on Saturday April 23, 2011, in the Zabaltani area. Crowds are moving forward knowing full well they’re likely to be killed. As they chant “Eed Wahde!” (One hand, or all together), a heavy burst of fire erupts. Many duck or fall to the ground but many remain standing waving their hands as if welcoming death. An unbelievable sight. Then we see people dragging those up front and one lands next to the cameraman with his head open. This may have been caused by a direct shot to the face that exited the back causing this damage. Not for the faint of heart.
We want the American people, with this video, to understand what the unarmed young people of Syria demanding freedom are up against. We will never stop until we get our freedom. By sharing with you these horrors, Syrians are not asking for boots on the grounds, or even military action of any kind. But we are asking for your support to mobilize policy makers in the U.S. to condemn Assad and to put him, and his killers, up for trial in a court of international law for crimes against humanity.

Saqba:
This video was taken in Saqba on Sunday, in the outskirts of Damascus. An injured young man with a bullet wound to his arm stands shirtless with his arms up in the middle of the road defying the snipers. The cameraman, as he takes the video, shouts, “There is no emergency law. What emergency?” — mocking the fact that Assad, three days ago, lifted the 48-year-old emergency law giving him the right to oppress, detain, torture, or kill. Then heavy fire erupts and everyone ducks or hides behind metal trash dumps.
http://pjmedia.com/files/2011/04/saqba_april_24_2011.flvMore as they come in.
——————————————————————————————
The cameraman, in the rear of a white pickup truck, says: “A martyr is down, a martyr is down, as you can observe” as a boy of perhaps 15 years of age with a head wound is loaded into the truck. Shouting, calls to lift the boy quickly. Many say “A martyr, a martyr”. The cameraman prays for the boy’s soul.
Shouting: “There is another one!” “Bring him, bring him!”
We see another young man with what looks like a deadly head wound. The cameraman: “Another martyr, as you can see.”
http://pjmedia.com/files/2011/04/izrah-april-23-2011.flvA pool of blood below the first injured boy’s head gets larger. Amongst the screams, we hear many cursing Assad.
The second man moves his hands, and is able to hold them up.
The cameraman says of the first victim: he may know the young man, he comes from the Jaber family. He turns the boy’s head to show a gruesome wound: “I think he has a head wound.” Shouting throughout the rest of the video as the truck presumably races towards a hospital.

Dara’a — April 25:
http://pjmedia.com/files/2011/04/Daraa.-April-25-2011.-Sniper-Aims-and-Shoots.flvA sniper takes aim for a while and fires across what looks like quite a distance. Notice how his rifle recoils, which is an indication of its power and velocity. PJM readers: know what type of rifle this is?

April 25 — Barzah:
http://pjmedia.com/files/2011/04/Barzah.-April-25-2011.-A-baby-girl-of-about-5-is-shot-in-the-eye.-Horrific.flvA girl, 5 or 6 years old, shot in the eye by a sniper bullet, probably while sitting at home through her window.
People angrily shout: “Cover her, cover her!” The cameraman gets closer and the man carrying her unwraps the cover, and we can see how she died. The sight is horrific.
Grown men can be heard weeping:

Pajamas Media is performing a very useful service by posting these videos.
However, I am having some trouble viewing them. For example, when I view the first one, after about 7 seconds of video a small box appears in the middle of the video with the number 12 in it. This number counts down, and when it reaches 0, the video stops, even though only 20 seconds or so have played. When I press ‘play’ again it starts from the beginning. This happens every time I watch the video, though not always at the same point. It makes it impossible to view the whole thing.
I had no problems viewing the videos on the previous thread. Is anyone else experiencing difficulties?
Jonathan,
I had not problem viewing either video. You may want to check for updates for your programs.
The videos are very disturbing. It is encouraging to see people that want basic simple freedom. Here in the US that freedom is taken for granted. The left continually blather on about how much this country sucks. They should look around and instead be grateful… but maybe that would be too much to ask since most are stuck on stupid.
I’ve noticed that most of the gunshot wounds are head wounds. The people doing the shooting are clearly aiming to kill and NOT to wound. Yes, the Syrians doing the shooting certainly are “brave,” gunning down unarmed protesters. I’m sure the Iranians are giving them some useful tips on crowd control. Animals.
Nothing to see here folks, move on now. Obama, the first president referred to as your president.
All the signs that JESUS is coming back as the loss of life under government direction continues only more useless deaths will occur until JESUS comes to reign, Oh GOD bring forth your SON and allow peace and freedom to come into YOUR world.
Ridiculous. Religious belief is not the solution, it is part of the problem.
The problem in the middle east is *lack* of understanding that governments must be Constitutionally limited only to retaliatory force against those who would violate citizens’ Individual Rights to life, liberty and property.
This means there must be a court system to swiftly arbitrate between individuals (including civil servants to the top level) who disagree over property rights or who initiate force against other citizens.
Jesus’ “judge not lest ye be judged” is an open invitation to the fraudulent and the violent to continue doing harm. Jesus’ tearing up a church because of money lenders, is an open invitation to view all financial investment as wicked, when it is a rational endeavor. Jesus’ view that we are our brother’s keepers, require that we debilitate our own lives in the service of . . . the neediest and the least deserving. Since the only way to really help the poor is to not act like and be one of them, that view is debilitating to everyone.
Since religion requires subordinating our own judgment to that of a God, it means accepting the dictates of power hungry leaders whether of the church or of politics, setting up most people’s lives to be a sacrificial wreck. Of course, where-ever someone is offering to sacrifice, someone else is willing to accept. Most of those are Popes & Priests, Dictators and Party Leaders.
Be smart like the Founders of the U.S.A., and recognize religion has no place in government.
I completely agree, Anon. Good post.
This is tough to watch. It is also a must see. Know what some of the powerful will do to keep their power. It makes no difference to Assad that the victims are Muslims. Something to keep firmly in mind. Now…water-boarding doesn’t seem so bad, does it, libruls?
As others have pointed out the wounds the crowd are receiving are head wounds, clearly the work of snipers. However I’d like to also point out that none of the men in the crowd seem to have a weapon. Are these the rebel fighters? Are they just Syrian civilians who are demanding their rights? Where are the fighters? This appears to be nothing more then a disorganized mob. There is no way that a mob without weapons, without leadership, without plans, supplies and support are going to be able to take on the army that Kadaffy has bought and paid for. So, look for U.S. ground troops in the near future.
Wrong country.
This is Syria, not Libya.
The dictator is Assad, not Gaddafi.
This is the country that the administration is ignoring, barring one tut-tutting statement.
Libya is the country NATO is bombing.
Syria is the country NATO is firmly ignoring.
Naddy, you are confusing Syria with Libya.
Yes you’re right, sorry I’ve been up all night. Still, my point is even in Syria how will a disorganized mob successfully fight the Assad military.
@ Rick the Romper – The holocaust didn’t get Jesus’ attention. What makes you think this will? This pales in comparison. Wake up! No one is coming down from the sky to save anybody. You might as well be waiting for Zeus to come and do something.
Well, a few thunderbolts did get hurled at the White House Saturday night….
This film and story are the reasons we the American people should never surrender our weapons and allow this Obama Administration and his democrat party to gun us down in the street like animals. The SOB wants to be our dictator and we have to stop him and the Democrats from ever getting back into the White House and majorities of either party until they are cleansed of the old bunch of pigs that are following Pelosi, Reid, Shumer and the likes
Just speculating but. seeing as how everything else in the video is standard Soviet equipment, I’d guess the soldier is firing the Dragunov SVD sniper rifle. This is a rifle made specifically for one shot, one kill shooting. It’s round packs the same punch as a .30-06 round, but the rifle is much more accurate
And if that soldier in that video was firing into a crowd, he probably killed someone
Looks like a Dragunov to me.
A Russian 7.62mm sniper rifle – roughly the same power and accuracy as an American equivalent (M21, M110). Designed to snipe at camouflaged soldiers in the field up to 1,000 meters away.
Shooting at standing protesters from a couple hundred yards is point-blank range – explaining the lethal head-shots – basically an execution.
Yeah, it looked like a Dragunov to me as well. Modern scope to increase the lethality at range.
30-06 (Thirty-aught-six). I own one and can attest to its power. My only experience is with 3/4″ steel. It goes right through it. This is brutal folks. Imagine Pelosi made a visit to this guy in 2007, all smiles. Gawd she should be asked her opinion on this in a very public way.
Oh, but Hillary has said that “Assad is a reformer” and Mrs. Assad has appeared in Vogue! Nothing to see, folks – let’s move on! Doesn’t Obama have golf game today? Imagine if this had happened while Bush was still president – he would not live down these images.
More than likely the rifle is a Dragunov. The enhanced recoil comes from the fact that the shooter is using the rifle from a standing position, rather than having extra stability provided by a bipod or some other sort of stabilizing device to absorb the recoil.
I support the cops/military in this situation. There is no oil in Syria that I know of.
Donald Trump for president!
Sorry to say, I don’t find these videos hard to watch.I do find that they have no useful insight into that regions culture, that we don’t already know.
It is a shame, yes, to see unarmed civilians being gunned down in the streets by armed forces run by the dictator of the year. The unfortunate part of these videos is that we can see what is happening now in Syria and you better be thankful that we don’t see videos from previous years interrogations routinely carried out by Syrian police and I’ll be the farm that you would be grateful not to see the interrogations carried out by the police 2 year from now, should Assad be taken out of power.
You can also substitute the word “Syrian” for any other middle eastern Islamic country. It is what it is, as it always has been. The changes coming about in these uprisings will no doubt keep things exactly the same as it has been because the people don’t want change, not really.
This was hard to watch. I never thought I’d be sorry for an Arab. On the other hand, what keeps this country free is the right of gun ownership. Otherwise the government could/would be as tyrannical as it wants. Let’s vote out the Obama administration and see where we stand. Otherwise we too will lose our liberties.
I just read an article on Yahoo.com about how the Syrian Arabs are asking/begging for the Israelis to come in and help them against Assad. I am wondering if these were the same Arabs that took to the streets a few weeks ago and along with the end of Assad they chanted death to Israel. I don’t know which side to cheer for.
It’s the middle east. There’s always a rent-a-mob available for some reason.
Listening to the crowd, the only government they want is in the Koran. Which one is worse? Muslims murder more Muslims than anyone elce.
Now that DaOne has been supporting the Muslim brotherhood in North Africa, Egypt, and North America, these types of video will increase.
Violence like this is their daily life. Has been for centuries.
There are too many factions that operate with this method at this time. The ruling factions need to coalesce into groups that can be exterminated, before anything will be accomplished by throttling these small outbreaks.
Putting out campfires will never result in stemming the fire starters.
Patriots!
Keep your powder dry. remember who is in the White House (for now) and defend the Constitution.
Young Americans!
Think long and hard who you vote for in 2012.
Law makers!
Defend the Constitution… not the elitist socialist ideals.
Semper Fi.
When the time comes and this begins in America, I for one will not be walking down the middle of the street yelling and waving my arms so as to make a “target” out of myself.
I feel that when it happens, I will be the guy you cannot see but will know I’m there when I drop some well placed shots in them.
Time to renew that shooting range membership.
Looks like they could have used a 2nd Amendment instead.
war number 4. you just wait and see.
Unfortunately, most tribes/sects/religious/ethnic groups in the ME don’t know how to play nice with each other. Much like the brutal USSR’s heavy fist to keep its satellite states in order, so do the dictators of most ME countries keep their multi tribal/ethnic groups in check. Once any group seizes power, it uses the same templates of old to gain power or edify itself with revenge…and so it goes…
I’m afraid it doesn’t help anyone when we get involved in Muslim Arab conflict. This is their way of life, and it’s been that way for a thousand years. Their faith always leads to conflict, and there’s no way of selecting “good guys” from “bad guys”. It’s just their way of life.
I’m old enough to remember the shootings at Kent State in 1970 and how the iconic photo of a young woman screaming over one of the dead students circled the globe many times. Obama’s friend and mentor, Bill Ayres, was one who used such imagery to recruit others to his point of view. I’m sure not a few members of the Obama administration (Hillary Clinton, chiefly, but there must be others) demonstrated and expressed outrage at the deaths of four demonstrators. How sad it is that none of them step forward now to condemn the deliberate murders shown in these videos. How sad it is that the major news networks barely give thirty seconds a day to covering the outrage.
Hasn’t anybody noticed that these poor, down-trodden Syrians are running down the road shouting “Allah Akhbar”? Hello!!? These are the people who want to take off your heads next. What’s the outrage here? Some Syrian Islamists are getting shot? Do any of us really care?
