I do not even know how I finished up right here, however I thought this put up used to be good. I don't realize who you are but certainly you are going to a well-known blogger if you happen to are not already. Cheers!

I was terrified of Pit Bulls. Every horror story about the breed escalated my phobia. You couldn't catch me in the same room with a Pitt Bull under any circumstances.

After marrying a man who is an animal lover, he convinced me to adopt a male Jack Russell, and then 10 months later a female Pit Bull. My son was shocked that I had even agreed to do it. One day he came home and saw me outside petting, hugging, and playing with the Pit Bull. He couldn't believe his eyes. Actually, my Jack Russell is the feisty one, and dominates the Pit Bull. What a sight! My PB cured me of my fear. Granted I still have a healthy respect for any animal breed, but I am definitely convinced that dog aggression has everything to do with their treatment and training. Our PB is a gentle sweetheart, and always tries to please us. JR is the one that presents more of a challenge, but we know how to keep him in check.

For all of you sounding-off authoritatively about how dangerous pit bulls are, please cite your credentials for doing so. For example, you wrote your masters thesis on dog attacks or you know 10 friends who've been attacked. I am a professional dog trainer. I work with approx. 25 dogs per week, 10 of which are usually pits. I've found them to have more stable and intelligent temperments than other breeds. They're also much more likely to play well with other dogs, as opposed to small breeds or cattle dogs which act agressively toward other canines. I bought into the pit bull hype before I actually interacted with them. The only people I've ever known to disliked pits were the ones who had had little or no contact with them, but loved reading the "always-fair-balanced-and-accurate" news.

I have a pitbull, I hate the bad rep that pits get!! you always hear about the bad and not the good. pits are a very loyal dog, you need to know how to control your pit, my pit dosent show any aggression towards any body or any dog, it is just on how your train them. When you hear about all the attacks that are caused from pits you have to read in between the lines, the owner of pit probally did not take proper care of the dog or it did not have enough socialization with other humans or animals, its never the dogs fault. If you stick a pit or any kind of dog with an igorant person its just like saying "it's not the gun that killed the person it's the idiot that pulled the trigger". I dont agree with people that fight pits either, its animal abuse and its not right for any dog to go through the hurt and the pain that humans put them in but even through all of that a pit is a so loyal it will love you and stay right by your side, a dog cant pick its owners so why is it always the dogs fault? but remember, its irresponible humans, not pitbulls', who deserve out derision. you dont blame the car when a drunk driver kills someone, and no one should blame a good dog riuned by the hands of igroant people.

I am very disheartened in reading the ignorance of others on believing Pitbulls are inherently vicious than any other breed. This is simply not the case. I have over 25 years experience in handling dogs for obedience and sport. I have been involved in rescue for 15. I have had first hand experience with Pitbulls especially and became an advocate for the breed after witnessing countless times just what people do to their dogs which make them dangerous and why.
When I was 14 years old I became aware of the horrors of canine treatment and popularity of Pitbulls in the inner city Chicago neighborhood I grew up in. Even by my own insecure brother seeking to make people feel he was somebody of power owned Pitbulls. My brother is no longer alive, but it made me want to protect this breed from people like him and others. I saw him take them and cruelly change them. I witnessed his beating up the ones which refused to respond in aggression for him. He didn't care if they were fought. He wanted money for them and powerful fame for having them.
And so I set out on a 25 year journey educating, reading; the good, the bad, the miscellaneous, the police reports, the history and lineage and statistical reports and my eyes were opened to the "hype" given to the media, how when a dog attacks if it's not a Pitbull they don't mention what breed it is immediately...interesting...I studied temperament tests, followed case studies, spent time in shelters and watch owners with their dogs from all social classes and neighborhoods, spent time talking to owners, essentially engulfing myself in the world of canines to get the large picture and be unbiased for ALL. I took a real interest and do you know what I found? What anyone that receives an education finds...The truth - - - The media is full of hype because it sells ratings and gets attention, no matter how ugly or what damage it does. That politicians want to look like the problem solvers to get re-elected and seek a "name" for themselves and they'll often take the easy way and will choose a scape goat rather than taking on the almost impossible, time consuming and very costly way of doing it right (aka BSL) and educating themselves first.
That people don't care to educate themselves, especially when not really interested, so they just believe the hype and assume what they hear or witness here and there is must be the overall truth and just the way it is. They will speak out from this ignorance, never having confirmed what they hear or witness and educate themselves into why and those numbers of ignorant people grow.
It's simpler for humans to go with the flow because fighting for the truth takes sweat, money, sacrifice and often many, many tears when you are made aware of the truth and care to fight for it.
I used to think when I joined the large world of canine competition there would be people who were educated on dogs over all and we'd share a bond. But no, there was ignorance and breed prejudice there too with owners who didn't even understand or know how to read their own dogs body language. And they believed the hype too. Sure this is where I met many, many educated canine people as well and we have joined forces to educate who we can and often with Pit bulls and other labeled breeds we have to show them in class first hand over and over again and we see eyes widen and jaws drop, because it went against what they heard and therefore believed - they are then educated for the first time.

any dog can bite, any dog can hurt someone, its up to us as owners to make sure that does not happen. I own 2 pits, and i am not a gang banger, i have a good job, drive a nice car and take responsiblity for my dogs. they are well trained and very loving. i would never own anyother breed. there is something so special about a pitbull. the way my 70 pound male thinks he's 5 pounds and lays on everyones laps.the way my female gives kisses to everyone, including other dogs she meets. yes, they are stronger and can be dog aggressive, but take care of them and they will love you forever. any dog can bite.. but i hope anyone who doesnt like pitbulls gets the chance to meet one like mine. then mabye they will change their minds.

I had got my Pit Bullfroma women who raised show dogs ( Pit Bulls only). I brought her home and she met my family, including my children. I can say this is one breed that got right to my heart. She was with me everywhere I went, loved people, wanted friends, and I can't say she ever barked unless I was running around playing hide and seek and she found me. My kids love her to death. I did not get her as a puppy so she had already had experience with life. The life she had did not make her mean toward people. I trully hate to hear people go on about how they hate them, and how mean these dogs are and then I ask did you have one ?? I always get the "NO" answers its all about what they heard or read somewhere. There are like 26 breeds that get mistaken for APBT and when the media gets there camera's rolling thats the only name they feel will get them good attention. Im sorry but I have had a APBT in my life for 10 years before she passed away from cancer and she was the greatest thing that had ever been in my life , along with my family.
