Why do we let the press, the media personalities get away with such? Let’s call him out on them and let’s start concentrating on what the real issue is. The real issue is we have 40-something million Americans on food stamps. You know why? All the wishful thinkers, whether wishing she will run and win or run and be humiliated, insist on disregarding what Sarah says: she wants to work outside of party identification and influence voters, but NOT to seek office. There is nothing coy about Sarah. She is not hiding anything. She will work her butt off for contenders she has faith in, but has had all the experience of office and involvement in the dirty world of professional politics she wants. The idea of having to live in D.C. and put up with the pressure and dealing every day with creeps crooks andand snake oil salesmen is totally repellent to her.
She did not get into politics because of a desire for political or financial advancement or through dynastic entitlement. Sarah Palin HATES the idea of being President, or Vice-President. She wants to continue living with her family in her beloved modest home in Alaska . She is also deeply concerned about the inroads of organized Socialism, and willing to do whatever she can to see that it is defeated. She is a fighter – a barackuda – and eager to be in the fray. She has learned, from the examples of Al Gore and Bill Clinton, that you can earn a very handsome income from lecturing and advising and being on Boards – without taking all the crap that comes with government office.
She’s looking for the candidate she prefers, will campaign fiercely for whoever is nominated on the conservative side, but will not enter as a candidate unless she becomes absolutely convinced that no other runner has a chance.

I am not 100% in the Palin camp, still a little too social con for me, but I did vote for her last time and certainly would vote for her before a NE RINO like Romney or Giuliani.

It’s interesting to ask a lib what they hate about Sarah Palin. The standard answer is “Everything”. The progs dismiss her as a non-entity as quick as they can, lest they be in the uncomfortable position of actually making a logically thought out policy critique. Almost all of Sarah’s negatives are the creation of the leftist media. And some are outfight laughable. Compared to the current idiot community organizer, who couldn’t lead a one man parade, Sarah is one smart and accompished cookie. And the media are very invested in downplaying king obama’s growing mountain of failures. And for any lib reading this, I would be happy to go through chapter and verse as to why precicely I loathe the current POTUS, (and skin color has nothing to do with it). Run Sarah Run, the libs are terrified of the truth, and Sarah is gutsier than any of the girly man Rinos out there. Liberals can’t handle the truth, and they will do whatever they have to to keep the truth away from the little people they pretend to care about. Slime is all they’ve got. I am a proud lib and I will tell you the #1 reason why I do not like her (and it may surprise you). It is her anti-science stance, which she revealed quite clearly by making a snide remark about the value (or in her case – the lack thereof) of government supported research on Drosophila melanogaster. Although I am fairly certain she did not use the Latin name; she used the common name – fruit flies. Any fruit fly researcher, any cancer researcher, anyone studying the cause of numerous developmental disorders in humans, any cardiac specialist, anyone studying the cause of epilepsy or neurodegenerative diseases – the list goes on and on – can easily explain the VAST WEALTH OF INFORMATION that has been obtained from government supported research of genetic mutations in fruit flies. But her attitude is that if she doesn’t know it, then if can’t possibly be true. It is her IGNORANCE coupled with ARROGANCE that I find most appalling.
Funding scientific research has no Constitutional basis. And government funded research at universities is far, far, less effective and more wasteful than commercial, private sector research. I’ve been involved in both and know this first hand.
Science involves the ability to look at a situation in an unbiased fashion. Don’t be blinded by the money.

Why don’t you respond to my initial comment about the enormous knowledge obtained from government supported research on Drosophila instead of linking to some video about shrimp on treadmills? Is it because you are also completely oblivious to the fact that many mutations in genes that were first isolated and characterized in Drosophila (in NIH extramural grant funded academic labs) were subsequently used as molecular targets to develop drugs to treat human disease (in the private sector – i.e. Biotech and/or Pharma)? I, too, have worked in both arenas and know that the goals are entirely different. Academic research is focused on discovery. It is those ACADEMIC discoveries that are then translated by pharmaceutical companies into new therapies. Once a target has been identified it can cost $1 Billion (or more) to develop a drug and get it through Phase III clinical trials and FDA approval. Whether or not you realize it, many Big Pharma ‘sponsored’ clinical trials are also supported by the government through programs such as Medicare. If you want to WHINE about something with REAL consequences, then I suggest you start whining about the fact that Big Pharma is NEVER required to reimburse the government for 1) the relatively insignificant cost of sponsoring the academic research that led to the initial discovery and 2) the enormous cost of clinical trials that led to FDA approval. Instead, once the drug is approved then Pharma is allowed to jack of the price of ‘their’ drug and stick it to everyone in need of the drug. You are paying for it one way or another – either through higher drugs cost, higher health insurance premiums, higher Medicare costs and/or higher taxes, while Big Pharma is reaping Big Profits.

I wonder if there is no middle ground with Palin — there’s either those who hate her or those who think she’s a goddess, actually capable of winning the presidency. She might win the nod for republican candidate, but she won’t win the office, much the same way Trump couldn’t have won– and Trump is much more well spoken than Palin. Palin is interesting, but not in a way that actually qualified her to be president. I don’t think you have to be extremely smart to be president, but I do think you have to be able to have a very critical understanding of political and philosophical issues, that she doesn’t. It’s the very issue that bothers me most whenever I see her answering questions — not campaigning, which she is very good at, but actually answering questions you have to think about beyond somewhat profoundly. I don’t think she does this well at all, and it shows loudly whenever she is pressed. Yes, the liberal press makes a big deal out of how hickish she is, but forget about that and observe her, your own thoughts untainted by an overreaction to media bias. She is hickish. Herman Cain is way above her in his level of thought. He’s also a real black man — not half and half. If the media really wants a black man to show how far we’ve come, why not Cain? He’s twice as black as obama, and considerably more in line with the actual core values of this country. He is a breath of fresh air!
