PalinTracker: Religion, Messin’ with Al Gore, a Dead Heat with Obama
Politico reports:
Rick Santorum: Sarah Palin has “explaining” to do:
“She’s done a lot to draw attention to herself that’s positive,” Santorum during an interview on ABC’s Top Line, adding that the former Republican vice presidential nominee has “done some things that, you know, certainly are going to cause her to have to do some explaining if she runs for president.”

Santorum does not elaborate.

At the Mall of America in Minnesota, a story is born: Man arrested for throwing tomatoes at Sarah Palin, police say. He missed and hit a policeman. Sarah went on to sign books for 1500 fans.
The tomato and approval ratings stories converge at the LA Times:
Sarah Palin just as popular as Barack Obama? Polls say you betcha:
Are Americans who want to throw rotten tomatoes at Sarah Palin slowly becoming the minority, while the number of people who want to throw them at President Obama is noticeably increasing?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At Facebook, Palin finds something to agree with the administration about:
I commend Interior Secretary Salazar’s decision today to conditionally approve drilling at three exploratory wells in the Chukchi Sea off the northwest coast of Alaska; it’s a decision that’s been a long time coming. The area north of the Arctic Circle contains some of the world’s richest oil and gas reserves. U.S. Geological Survey researchers estimate that it contains 1.6 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 83 billion barrels of undiscovered oil.
The international community recognizes the potential of Arctic off-shore drilling; it’s about time our government allowed us to compete with them by developing these rich reserves in an environmentally responsible way.
From HotAir:
Video: Chris Matthews aghast that Palin doesn’t write her own material:
Her use of ghostwriters is a minor preoccupation of Matthews’, dating back to when she first got her book deal and he seemed to express surprise that she can read. Why this bugs him so much when virtually every other major politician uses ghostwriters on their books and speeches (Democratic royalty included) is beyond me unless he really does believe that Palin, a former governor, is semi-literate and committing some type of “extra” deception.
December 8
Politico reports: Palin says Mike Huckabee made “horrible decision” on granting clemency in 200 to Maurice Clemmons, who killed four police officers at a coffee shop in Seattle.
“It was a bad decision obviously, but my heart goes out to Huckabee,” the former Alaska governor said of her potential 2012 GOP presidential rival during an interview Monday with conservative radio host Lars Larson. “I love him, and I feel bad for him to be in this position. But I feel even worse for the victims’ families in this situation.”
The Washington Post publishes an op-ed by Palin:
Copenhagen’s political science:
With the publication of damaging e-mails from a climate research center in Britain, the radical environmental movement appears to face a tipping point. The revelation of appalling actions by so-called climate change experts allows the American public to finally understand the concerns so many of us have articulated on this issue …
The agenda-driven policies being pushed in Copenhagen won’t change the weather, but they would change our economy for the worse. …
The e-mails reveal that leading climate “experts” deliberately destroyed records, manipulated data to “hide the decline” in global temperatures, and tried to silence their critics by preventing them from publishing in peer-reviewed journals. What’s more, the documents show that there was no real consensus even within the CRU crowd.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Wayward Tomato becomes The Tomato Heard Round the World as Australia’s Sydney Morning Herald reports: Tomato thrown at Sarah Palin.
At MSNBC, Al Gore rebuts Palin’s climate change claims. Responding to Palin’s Washington Post op-ed, Gore hits back during an interview with Andrea Mitchell, saying “global warming is not a political issue but a moral one” — unintentionally underscoring Palin’s claim that manmade climate change is actually “doomsday scare tactics pushed by an environmental priesthood.”
Palin says she’s seen “the impact of changing weather patterns,” but “while we recognize the occurrence of these natural, cyclical environmental trends, we can’t say with assurance that man’s activities cause weather changes.”
Gore says the scientific community has worked on this for 20 years (I guess the 20 years since the press plied the Kool-Aid of The Coming Ice Age). “It’s a principle in physics,” he told Mitchell. “It’s like gravity, it exists.”
Palin takes to her Facebook page late that night to respond to Gore:
Perhaps he’s right. Climate change is like gravity — a naturally occurring phenomenon that existed long before, and will exist long after, any governmental attempts to affect it. However, he’s wrong in calling me a “denier.” As I noted in my op-ed above and in my original Facebook post on Climategate, I have never denied the existence of climate change. I just don’t think we can primarily blame man’s activities for the earth’s cyclical weather changes.
Most interesting in this is the role Palin is playing — as she did with the health care death panels — exposing a mainstream media vacuum and forcing a response from the left. A stupid and irrelevant nobody from nowhere. How cool is that?
When the left responds by the Alinsky tactic of marginalizing her — as Gore tries to do with misrepresenting her position and calling her a “denier” (odd religious tones to that), she makes her case directly to the American people to remind them of her actual words.
And just as once upon a time she processed fish in Alaska, she guts Gore’s red herring and focuses back on the real problem: the dangerous collusion of politics and science — and financial gain — which caused scientists to dump research, covering up in order to keep the Church of Climate Change in business.
Palin even uses an Alinsky tactic — though I think it’s just instinctive — at the close of her Facebook, turning his own words back on him:
Vice President Gore, the Climategate scandal exists. You might even say that it’s sort of like gravity: you simply can’t deny it.

Politico reports: Glenn Beck tells Barbara Walters he hasn’t yet made up his mind about Sarah Palin.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Within hours of his Copenhagen speech, USA Today reports: Surprise! Palin likes Obama’s Nobel speech.
Maybe because for once it wasn’t ripping America? And because with the irony of receiving a Peace Prize while deploying 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan, he had to carefully define the role of war in establishing and keeping peace?
“I liked what he said,” Palin told us in a phone interview. “I talked too in my book about the fallen nature of man and why war is necessary at times. … Of course, war is the last thing I believe any American wants to engage in, but it’s necessary. We have to stop these terrorists. …
Conservatives shouldn’t worry. Palin isn’t going soft on Obama. The former Alaska governor went on to say that former president George W. Bush “did a great job of reminding Americans every single day that he was in office” of the lessons of the 9/11 attacks. “By the way, I’d like to see President Obama follow more closely in the footsteps of George Bush and his passion for keeping the homeland safe,” Palin added.
Yesterday I checked out a book store in Canada. Going Rogue and Going Rouge are both available. Guess which one was
easier to find, because it was placed more prominently.
December 11, In a “surprise” appearance on the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien…Sarah at her poised and humorous best
That video cracked me up.
And she and Shatner walk off stage, arms around each other.
Priceless.
Sarah Palin can win the presidency in 2012. I am no longer pessimistic. The odds are in her favor. Palin simply needs to study hard. She must not ignore her reading while touring the United States! Continuing her education is not negotiable. Everything else will then fall into place.
I agree with David on this . There is no one of stature out there who is taking issue daily with our leftist press and the foamy mouthed Democrats, other than talk radio.
Sarah is a breath of fresh air and calling her stupid while offering no substance is a typical smear effort.
I love this series. You get better at presenting it, too. I like the links. I get wry smiles all throughout the reading of it. Best line this time? “No gotcha? You betcha!” Love it.
The Climate Change spat made me notice that they disingenuously call it Climate Change, instead of Manmade Climate Change. Those of us who oppose this nonsense should insist on calling it Manmade to focus the issue. It’s about whether or not it is manmade. None of the rest matters; only whether or not it is manmade.
The book tour was 6 weeks of perfection. No runs; no hits; no errors. Advertising the signing by simply putting up a placard in the window, and being tremendously successful? Who does that? People at Harper Collins have to be smiling all the way to the bank whilst patting each other on the back. At a time when overall sales for everyone are down, this is a shining moment of glory for them. My summation of the book tour and sales? – STIMULUS!
As for playing to just one side of the stadium? That side is becoming ever more populous. She will be Kingmaker in 2010. Her power will become very evident during the campaigns. After all, it’s all about the Benjamins! The only question is, how many Benjamins does she actually have access to? Just how big is her base, and how much money can they spare in these times? My suspicion is that it is more than the opposition can spare.
It’s also about the ground game. Campaign supporters are VERY important. This will be her real strength. She brings an army to a candidate’s support. How do you say no to this rich supply of campaign troops? Come 2010, there will be a lot of newly elected pols who will owe her BIG! This will be huge come 2012. She lends her supporters, now, and they will have to lend their supporters later. She will thus have a built-in campaign infrastructure. She can win it all in 2012, AND have very long coattails, to boot. There’s a huge wave building, and she is perfectly poised to capitalize on it. Moreover, she is doing everything right.
And the women WILL vote for her… even Dems.
Finally, I dare say she has a new fan in William Shatner. Winning friends and influencing people. Loved the roar from the fans when she appeared!
Sarah Palin and _Denny_Crane_
Can reality stand the strain ?
Thank you for the updates.
Excellent job !!!
I enjoy reading the idiocies said and written by the nihilists/ subversives/ elitists against Sarah: the more they speak the more they show their own intellectual and moral emptiness: go commies, speak more, show us your colors !
Godspeed Sarah !
And thank you Barbara Curtis !
How was that song…?
Times are a’changing ….
Poor subversives, forty years of hard work to transform our schools and our universities in the Moscow Party School …
and People keep thinking… despite all those efforts…
Irrelevant he says. John McCain served his country with pride, dignity and courage. He suffered more then any man should have to suffer at the hands of his captors, the North Vietnamese Communists. I don’t bear any grudges against McCain. But he has to recognize that his time and place in the sun is over and done, that the mantle of leadership is going to be passed on, and that it’s Sarah Palin who is going to pick up that mantle. Not the remainder dinosaur republicans like Romney, Huckabee and all the rest. A new generation of conservatives who will take our country back to being the military and economic powerhouse that it’s been in the past. Thank you John McCain for your service. Now do us all a favor and go fishing.
I loved these updates. I also love Sarah Palin; she has my support for whatever she decides to do.
I certainly remember how all our pollsters were telling us in 1980 how Reagan was in adead heat with Carduh right up to the weekend before the election. I also recall that not long ago former Carduh pollster Pat Caddell said that 10 days before the election Carduhs pollsters were telling him he was going to lose and lose big. As of right now, I personally would not be surprised if either Palin, Romney ,or Huckabee could beat Obamao and rather easily. Personally, I favor the Arctic Fox because her track record indicates she is the most conservative. Romney was NOT a very conservative governor in Massachusetts. Huckabee is too left on too many issues, though I do like the Fair Tax he champions. Start with 2010, clean out the house especially, the Senate will likely lose disgusting Harry Greed(He has NO CLUE how much trouble hes in) and several other commierats. Watch and see if Obamao tries declaring martial law-nothing with this commie pig would surprise me.
Great Series I look forward to more, much more. Please, keep it coming.
Sarah Palin,
Build you foreign competence side. Get good advisers and pack of like minded professionals. You can do it, and together, we can knock down those liberal junkies into a dust bean of the history, from which they will never come back. Republic is still alive. It’s worth fighting for. There are millions of Republicans in this country. And I do not mean just registered republicans. Republicans with capital “R”. Pick up the torch. Light the way.
CostCo took the tomatoes off the shelf so no one would throw them at her. Now that’s funny.
Now and Then-
Yeah, 1500 come out to see her in the cold, and one nut with a tomato causes a market to overreact.
Sort of par for the course in how we pander to nutty liberals…
Now & Then- Why is it always the peace loving lefties who throw stuff. According to Law & Order, it is the crazy consevatives that are so agressive and mean. How many arrsets at the Tea Party gatherings? NONE. How many crazy lefties are getting arrested in Coppenhagan(while they freeze their butts off)? Great way to debate, when you can say anything intelligent, throw a tomato.
I cannot believe at all the attacks on Sarah Palin. She is the most popular woman Republican ever. She almost made it to the White House (OK, the VP house), but now all she is trying to do is put food on the table, you think her husband can keep up with the lifestyle to which she has become accustomed.
And so what if she took two different planes back to Alaska from Dallas, Texas when she was in labor with Trig, instead of going to a local hospital (who wants to born in Texas, yikes). I mean so what if Alaska Airlines spokesman said that they were not aware that she was in labor.
She is not a quitter, she is reloading, so watch out she will be your President, like it or not. I mean come on we had “W”, right?
To the Americans here, how many bookstores that would carry both books, would have a more prominent display for “Going Rouge”, instead of “Going Rogue”?
15. Dave II:
“Yeah, 1500 come out to see her in the cold . . . ”
Hasselhoff can top that just stumbling out of the Ivy. Talk to me when she can gather 100,000 people like somebody else I know. the woman is a complete and utter fraud.
Why is it always family values patriots who punch senior citizens in the face?
Attacking Palin is now like touching the live wire. David Letterman did it and where is he now? Now Schwangener has crossed swords with her on his voyage to Copenhagen to join that farce. He hinted that Palin’s views on climate are “stone age”. Watch this space. I suspect she will make mincemeat of muscleman and make him wish he was back in the gym just pushing up 500 kilos.
NBC has blocked the video on YouTube of Sarah and Denny Crane.
Governor Palin is the hope of all conservatives, although the left will portray her as a “populist.” Common sense and sharp instinct for doing the right thing at the right moment, being at the right place at the right time are her landmark qualities. She has a destiny far bigger than anyone can imagine. She can not only steer the US, but change the World with her universal appeal and message. The constrast between the phony messiah BHO and her can’t be more pronounced.
3. DT: Not knowing American or world history and geography, (Is “57 states” geography, or history?) did not prevent someone from elected president, nor barely uttering a coherent word when not reading from a teleprompter. As long as you’re a “liberal”, you can kill (Chippaquidick), or rape (pres: 42), or making C’s and D’s in college (kerry), or flunking divinity school (Gore), you could still be an icon, an intellectual, …
Reagan was as much a “dunce” as Palin. What Palin needs is to study how Reagan did it. Anyway, it is ridiculous to expect a president who is a politician to be expert in anything besides “politicianing”. One of the sticking points was McCain admitted he wasn’t an economist. See how an economic “genius” rescued the economy? … by driving us in much deeper debts, much worse unemployment … to enrich his cronies and supporters, wall street bankers, union crooks, …
A Chinese saying: Sages don’t die, grand larcenies won’t stop.
Friends, if you’ll have a look at this comment thread, you’ll see that “Now & Then” goes frothing-at-the-mouth crazy-incoherent when you ignore him. Draw the moral!
I am a conservative, but feel no need to automatically get on board with Sarah Palin as a presidential candidate. She seems genuine enough. But I’ve yet to hear her answer a substantive question about domestic or foreign policy in a way that gives me confidence that she has a solid grasp of the issues. And while I appreciate her willingness to step up to the plate when few conservatives seem willing to, I don’t want a sense of desperation to set in whereby I feel like I need to back Palin all the way because there simply are no other options.
Her book is interesting, but interviews are dicey. She’s not good answering tough questions off the cuff. I’m always rooting for her, but it’s just not there.
Are people truly ok with her answering a question about expansion of Israeli settlementss with a comment that more and more Jews will be visiting Israel so there needs to be room for them? Or, when asked about how she would address the recession and unemployment, to have nothing but lower taxes and help small business – an obvious answer for a conservative, but in my view, way to basic and simple.
Anyone want to try to sell me on her, please make the case. (But please don’t compare her to Obama. It’s apples and oranges. Obama is a nightmare, that’s a given. He had no experience and a very questionable background and attitude toward America. Palin cannot be defined in comparison to him. She must be defined on her own terms.)
26. Francis W. Porretto:
“soft-centered bag of gut wind” . . . appears it worked. Thank me.
As for “frothing-at-the-mouth crazy-incoherent” I believe you’re referring to Mr. Lucky . . . #22.
Sarah Palin certainly has had an amazing month, and the article did not even mention her very funny take-down of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Maybe she has just been lucky. Or maybe she really is as talented as her supporters think she is. Or maybe she just looks good in contrast to the current occupant of the White House who has not had a very good past month. (Obama has had such a poor month that some of his supporters now defend him by claiming that the country has become ungovernable.)
I look forward to seeing what private-citizen Palin does next year.
Palin is a political troll. All she does is criticize without offering solutions. She learned from Paris Hilton: smile and pose.
People who like her are just like her. TMZ followers.
“Sarah Palin says the United States should rededicate itself to seeking God’s will, arguing that a humble spirit could help leaders get more answers on issues such as health care, energy and national security.”
A non-existing God will not give answers to anyone. Education, experience and intelligence will.
23. James F:
“She has a destiny far bigger than anyone can imagine. She can. . . change the World with her universal appeal and message.”
So I guess Palin is the REAL messiah.Thanks for clearing that up. I think everybody was getting a little tired of waiting for HIM to show up. Tell me, how many copies of Runner’s World did you buy?
What is that on that troll’s face? It’s fear, brothers, it’s fear.
They be drippin’ and poppin’ all over the place
From fear, brothers, from fear
She is woman, watch her roar
Palin 2012 – Change you’ll be begging for.
Look at her record of governance. That says it all. As Governor, she never forgot who’s money that the state was spending (the people’s). She left Alaska better than she found it – never the case with the lefty libs. As for lower taxes and help small businesses being too simple a solution, SOMETIMES THE BEST SOLUTIONS ARE SIMPLE!!!! Small businesses lead the way in every recovery.#17, exactly what kind of life style is she now “accustomed” to?? Unlike the over-educated simpleton and his cabal of radicals, Mrs. Palin knows what it means to live simply, knows what it means to struggle to get by, meet a payroll, and yes hunt for your food. She connects with average people at the gut level. She is plenty smart enough and her love for her country is not something that is “nuanced”like the libtard in the whitehouse, it’s right there for all to see -
It’s a good thing for the GOP that Palin is still in the news. At least she had the good sense to quit her job. Current GOP members of Congress would probably earn some respect by following suit. Drawing paychecks for sitting on their hands is pretty pathetic.
Of course, Palin is a great gift to the Democrats as well, because there is no way she can win a national election. She can rile up the hardcore base, and totally skew the primaries, as well as help some more GOP congress members lose their seats.
The worrying thing is that some people actually take her seriously as a contender for higher office, despite the eloquent demonstration of incompetence that she has provided. Of course, incompetence has long been a qualification for GOP candidates – nobody with a reasonable grasp of reality could buy in to the insanity of the party platform.
Looking forward to Obama’s landslide victory in 2012.
Peace.
