Outrage or Farce: NBC News Names Ground Zero Mosque Developer ‘Person of the Year’
This morning I spent a few minutes on the Pat Campbell Show in Tulsa, discussing the outrageous decision by the Park51 group — the group that’s developing the Ground Zero Mosque — to apply for $5 million in taxpayer funds to continue development of that monument. That has certainly reignited the debate over the mosque project itself, which is a $100 million effort that so far has a whopping $20,000 banked.
Well, guess what? Park51 is about to get a nationally televised infomercial during the holiday. If you watch NBC’s Today Show on Thanksgiving morning, you’re likely to see host Matt Lauer interview Sharif El-Gamal. Gamal is Park51′s lead developer and front man.
He’s been named one of NBC’s “People of the Year.”
Seriously. This not an Onion headline. And yes, the interview is real. NBC has posted an excerpt prior to broadcast:
In an interview set to air on Thanksgiving Day, Matt Lauer sat down with El-Gamal and discussed the “Park 51 Project.” El-Gamal, who was apparently pleased to be named one of NBC’s people of the year, seemed very comfortable answering questions. The excerpt released so far shows that Mr. Lauer gave El-Gamal a decidedly softball interview. Here is a partial transcript of El-Gamal’s opening statements:
“There’s going to be a facility here that’s going to provide aquatics, uh, uh, uh, a gym, just like a Jewish community center or, or a YMCA. It’s going to provide, uh, much needed facilities to the residents of Lower Manhattan.”
Lauer responds that there is “one major exception” to El-Gamal’s statement, describing the 9/11 terrorist attacks. However, El-Gamal’s quickly responded:
“Not once have I held my faith accountable for the horrific events of 9/11. I am an American. I am an American who has a specific belief system, and my belief system, in order to be a Muslim you have to be a good Jew and a good Christian.”
It’s going to be such a beautiful Mosque and monument to the struggle.

I would have to agree that times have changed. I’m not sure how building this mosque needs to be honored like that. I know that not all forms of Islam are accountable for what happened on 9/11. I just don’t understand why there needs to be one built in that percise location. It’s like throwing salt on a wound. We have firefighters, cops, citizens etc that were lost then and troops fighting overseas, in return a mosque is built?
I had never heard of NBC’s ‘Person of the Year’, until now. Is it a new kind of TV commercial, something that can be purchased? It is hard to believe that there wasn’t some money passed around for this kookiness.
“Person of the Year” is the journalistic equivalent of the “fill in the blank” entertainment awards shows. Its purpose is to attract attention to the organization which awards it. In this case, NBC is trying to steal some thunder from Time Magazine by presenting their “Person of the Year” award two weeks before Time does. Either one is fark.

But if the truth is to be known they are all part of the Progressive Regressive Leftist agenda to take over America to be controlled by a coming New World Order by a bunch of Billionaire Elitist Tyrant want to Be’s! It’s amazing. Why do members of the mainstream media continue to light their pants on fire to draw attention to themselves in an outrageous way? This has got to be the best pantsfire yet. Are they trying to finish off any shred of credibility they have left? This is certainly a good way. It is not any more outrageous, however, then the mosque group’s request for $5 million to finish off this edifice in the heart of NYC.

If this is being done to get the muslim demographic on NBC’s side perhaps we’ll see the “President” of Venezuela given an award by Keith Olbermann soon or how about the President of Mexico? I love the way everyone is celebrated in America nowadays but the people who actually deserve to be celebrated. Boycott? What is there to boycott? I would love to say I’ll stop watching NBC because of this, but I honestly can’t remember the last time I watched an NBC show. Frasier jumped the shark ten years ago. Maybe that is it; I can’t think of any NBC show I have watched since then.

El-Gamal and other supremacist Muslims want a mosque honoring Islam at sacred Ground Zero where our cherished 3,000 were slaughtered without mercy by the followers of Islam. Muslim supremacists demand the right to rub salt in the wound of our pain, grief and tears with a 9/11 victory mosque. But for despicable NBC, this makes El-Gamal, person of the year, a hero.

According to polls, two-thirds of Americans responded that they did not want that mosque built in the location that El-Gamal has planned for it. So, like good liberals, NBC is going to poke a stick in the American people’s eye for making the “wrong” choices.

I happened to be downtown last week and walked by, and there was the lonely cop, talking to a construction worker from one of the many nearby construction sites.
Because the building across the street is undergoing facade restoration, it is really easy to walk by and not even notice the graceful mid-19th century merchant warehouse.
Did El-Gamal ever pay off his back taxes and back rent and all those housing violations on his rental properties?
Naming the ground zero developer person of the year is like naming an SS prison guard at Auschwitz population management minister of the decade.

Christian Churches don’t apply for taxpayer funding when they build a new building. Why should this Muslim group be considered? I do not want one penny of my money going to funding the construction of a mosque.

President Barack Obama promised during his campaign and inaugural speeches that we would witness a fundamental transformation of America. To be sure, his idea of a transformation is more akin to Karl Marx or Hugo Chavez than to Jesus Christ and the Holy Trinity.
Perhaps we should be grateful that, so far, President Obama and his progressive cabal are fixated on health care, cap & trade, climate change and other big government projects. With so much on his plate, Obama hasn’t had time to fundamentally charge the very basis of our legal system — the 10 Commandments, as given to the prophet Moses by Yahweh on Mount Sinai.
But rest assured, there will be many — gay activists, atheists, hard-core leftists, etc. — who will eventually get around to fundamentally transforming God’s 10 Commandments.

V. Honor thy mother and thy father if they love Obama; otherwise, call child protection services and claim they’ve abused you.
VI. Thou shall not kill or abuse terrorists or criminals, but unborn babies may be killed right up to the moment of their birth.
VII. Thou shall marry anyone or any creature you wish with the full protection of Obama.
VIII. Thou shall steal from those who work and save and give such bounty to those who are slothful, irresponsible and non-productive.
IX. Thou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor, unless they refuse to accept Obama as their god and their leader.
X. You shall covet your neighbor’s house. When Obama is done transforming America you will have it.
I think it’s time for the silent American Majority to speak with the almight dollar. NBC thinks they represent us. When we finally get off our butts and stop adding to thier bottom line and not support that network then they will truely know how America feels.
We have allowed politically correctness to remove the rights of the majority of Americans. No one cares how this looks or hurts all the Americans who were attacked on 9/11. Build your mosque somewhere else. And NBC you can stick it — my time and money will not support your network!!
