Eric#24: Your tedious book-bound belief that society can run on Adam Smith alone is the kind of stuff I’d expect from a YAFer, bit it does not cut the mustard here. We’re tired of funding health care for people too good to buy insurance; do tell–what’s wrong with making people pay for some of the health care cost they impose on us by not having insurance?

It seems that the right has been paying attention, and is starting to employ the same tactics that the left has used for years.

As far as the gist of the article goes, the way I understand it, there are clauses in the bill that would invoke financial penalties against those who do not participate in an insurance plan, be it private or public. That being the case, people would be forced into carrying coverage of some sort, or have yet more of their income taken from them.

In 1964 or 5, we put seatbelts in cars. Their use was not required then but it is now and a good thing too. People that don’t wear them increase the cost of medical care for all of us so they can ride beltless. Anyone here want to advocate the “right” to ride beltless and tie up the ICU’s?

The healthcare Act will require people to get health insurance: it will stop riding “for free” on those of us that have it: meaning no more moochers at the hospital.

Face it folks: we can’t have more docs doing plastic surgery on breasts, tummies and eyelids while ICU’s are closing. Change is needed. Change is here!

Now go back to your pork rinds, beer and fatty sandwhiches (we’ll come after those next); let the new Administration fix the problems.

Between the coming of retirement age baby-boomers, the inefficient government handling of healthcare billing and provision of services, new government agencies intended to be put in place to deal with even more government control, and the likely reponse by physicians of early retirement the shortages will make England, France, Russia, and Canada’s healthcare delivery system look like the preferred choice of delivery systems. At the peak of the communist era behind the wall of Russia, people did not seek out healthcare unless they were ready to die. I know, because I treated some of those people when they were in the States.

The failure of this Administration to take into account even the most basic of economic principles and unwillingness to involve Doctors and othe Health Care Providers to have input on the proposed bills has doomed us all. The only hope is to defeat the current proposed bill.

The idea that it is the Democratic bill or nothing is a very dangerous philosophy and ignores the sound ideas that could save our system and I believe our country.

Of course employers are going to dump you into the public plan under Obamacare.

The current debate amongst democrats (thankfully taking leave today for the Jewish Holiday until next Tuesday, praise Allah, no new pronouncements for 4 days) seems to have been reduced to EITHER the public option will be forced down the throats of the American public OR we’ll go with the BS of co-ops, aka the smokescreen for the public option.

The Prezzydent’s this week solution to the dilemma ? Make illegals legal, i.e., 20 million more officially on the rolls.

If I were a doctor facing this boatload of legislative intrusive BS into the practice of medicine, I’d think about retiring, too.
