Olbermann Defends Convicted Rapist’s Right to Occupy 14-Year-Old Girl
In October, reports surfaced of a sexual assault in a tent at the Occupy Dallas camp. The victim was a 14-year-old runaway and the alleged assailant, a 23-year-old man.
This case is one of 17 on a list of Occupy-related sexual crimes compiled by Lee Stranahan at Andrew Breitbart’s Big Journalism — a list that Current TV’s Keith Olbermann gleefully “debunked” last week in his ongoing crusade to promote a fictitious “No Occupy Rapes, No Cover-Up” narrative.
Stranahan swiftly countered with a point-by-point refutation of Olbermann’s attempt to deny, mock, and minimize the well-documented occurrence of sexual assaults at Occupy protests. But Olbermann’s denial of the Occupy Dallas assault is so vile and morally bankrupt it merits an even closer look (video here).
Despite the Breitbart headline: “Police Investigating Possible Sexual Assault Of Teen At Occupy Dallas,” the alleged assault victim told police the sex in question was consensual. She would not press charges nor cooperate with authorities. The claim that there was an assault originates with one local tv station’s anonymous source in the Dallas police department.
Olbermann reiterates this rape denial later in his Daily Kos post:
One story turns out to have been about consensual sex.
Good thing he told us twice, ’cause now I get it. This was just another gentle Occupier with a heart of gold enjoying some hot, consensual man-on-teen action. He totally tapped that 14-year-old ass. High fives all around! Age is just a number, amirite Keith?
Not quite. As Stranahan pointed out, the legal age of consent in Texas is 17, a pesky law the Occupy-hating meanies in the Dallas Police Department saw fit to enforce when they arrested Richard Armstrong. And contrary to Olbermann’s debunking, the 14-year-old child — yes, child, Keith — cooperated with authorities:
The Child Exploitation Squad initiated an investigation based on the child victim’s statements. After a thorough investigation, a suspect was identified. The suspect was located and questioned. It was determined the suspect is a non-compliant registered sex offender and engaged in sexual conduct with the runaway who is a minor. The suspect was arrested on October 27, 2011, for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender (Felony 2) and Sexual Assault of a Child (Felony 2).
Authorities required Armstrong to register as a sex offender after a 2009 conviction for … wait for it … sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl. According to the arrest warrant (PDF):
The victim stated that she told him to stop and said “NO” several times, but he continued to have intercourse with her. The victim stated that she told Richard she was 14 prior to them having sexual intercourse.
…
Armstrong waived his rights and admitted to having sexual intercourse with the victim. He further stated that the victim told him she was 14 YOA, and that she told him to stop but he could not stop himself because he “had no power over my body.” Armstrong admitted to not wearing a condom.
Just two weeks before his October 27th arrest for the Occupy Dallas assault, Armstrong signed a plea agreement (PDF) admitting to multiple probation violations, including contact with children 17 years of age or younger, failing a clinical polygraph exam, and unsuccessful discharge from sex offender treatment.
He remains jailed at the Lew Sterrett Justice Center with a bond set at $200,000.
This is the man Keith Olbermann refuses to condemn.

Ya know, I’m going with Kieffe on this one. When Olberman was on that other channel, one had to click through him once in a while. But now that he is, God knows where, one has to intentionally look for him. That’s wrong! Just ignore him and he go away/self-destruct.
Anyone who proves Olberman is a liar has too much spare time and is just shooting fish in a barrel. He is not worth watching/listening to and, certainly, nothing he says is worth disproving. He’s like the Kenyan; all one needs know is that his lips are moving.
Lay off “like the Kenyan.” While I happen to believe Olbermann is a hateful blight in the media, he is no more of a blight than the tacit sneers about Kenya in comments like yours. Yeah, I get it, it is really about Obama. But it is also about Kenya as some dark backward place that is not worthy of the USA. It’s despicable tacit derision.
Well, no; the comment reflected an issue about The One’s origins (yeah, we know: he’s born a US citizen). But, while you’re on the subject: Kenya IS a relatively backward place.
But enough about third world backwaters: let’s talk about Olby! The worst type of small fish: Awful taste, but not something you want to throw back into the pond. He’s his own best critic, just by opening his mouth. Give him another year, and he’ll have his VERY OWN talk show: on a small radio station in Nebraska. On Saturday nights. At best.
No, it’s not about Kenya. It’s about someplace-OTHER-than-the-United-States.
It would be the same if it were England, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, or any other western nation.
Now, if it had been France, you might have a point.
As one of those nasty white colonialists who lived in Kenya before, during and after independence I can confirm that Kenya is indeed some dark backward place, more so now that at any other time. One of the poorest countries in the world where the the parliamentarians are the highest paid in the world. It is the ultimate in Chicago politics.
Like it or not Obama was a Kenyan citizen. He lost his citizenship at age twenty one according to Obama’s own website.
K O is an A hole – to the core
I would expect nothing less form this loon – defending sex with a minor because she said ok. I only hope one day K Hole ends up in a prison and meets the same fate as the 14 year old girl
Than again; I hear he’s into that……..
Mark Levin used to have some of the sexploits of Kinky Keith at his website.
Shudder.
Why do I find it easy to imagine Olbermann paying underage girls to weewee on him?
Doesn’t NBC have a show about guys who try to have sex with minors….? What would Chris Hansen say about this?
Olbermann is displaying classic psychological projection. He numbers and admits his own faults in someone else.
Keith Olbermann is a scumsucker. He is likely being financially enabled by the corrupt and ideologically driven Media Matters crowd, at least in part.
After being fired from MSNBC about a year ago, Keith was picked up by Al Gore’s channel, Current tee vee, which is currently (and rightly) struggling for survival.
We’ve gone from “why won’t anyone think of the children,” to “why won’t you forget about child-rape and tax the rich?!”
KO *does* think of the children! I’m sure he’s 100% behind ensuring that these underage girls get free STD testing and treatment, and free abortions, at the nearest Planned Parenthood. That way they’re ready when the next Roman Polanski wannabe comes along.
– will come to a bad end. What he has done will have its way with him.
This is unbelievable, even for Keith Olbermann, who appears to be a couple bubbles off plumb.
Good article. Thanks for writing it.
Now excuse me while I go take a hot shower. I’m having disgust issues.
The Occupy movement was all about lawlessness, public filth, and mob violence from the beginning.
The perpetrator is obviously to blame, but then, I also have to put some of the blame on the mayors and chiefs of police who allowed the Occupests to set up these encampments in the first place, and in other ways to violate local laws with impunity. I also fault the parents of minor children who let their offspring attend Occupy events (or, heaven forbid, brought their children there).
And self-anointed media hipsters like Olbermann are part of it too. Because the media made avant-garde heroes out of the Occupoopers for months on end, anybody who objected was made to seem “uncool.” The mayors and chiefs of police were under no media pressure to start doing their jobs, which is to clean up the mess, enforce the laws, and restore public order.
Back about 300 years ago, slightly after the invention of fire, Olbermann did the news out here in California for a while. Sports news, he was a sportscaster then. The weird thing is he was good, and I was something of a fan. He was witty, erudite, clever, and very opinionated (should the Dodgers trade that right fielder? You’d be in no doubt what Olby thought…) and frankly he was fun to watch. I don’t know whether other stations do this, but the local CBS affiliate here in SoCal does an end-of-the-week sports summary show (currently called “Something or other with Jim Hill”) and for most of the period that Olbermann was in Southern California, perrenial CBS-Los Angeles sports guy Jim Hill was someplace else, so Olbermann did the show. It was funny and entertaining.
Then something weird happened. I’m not going to be able to remember the exact circumstances, but one night his show touched on an incident that had happened a few years earlier. Remember, this is pre-internet, so if a recording of something is legendary, copies of it in one format or other would get spread around. Apparently there was a sports journalist either interviewing someone, or being interviewed, and there were only tape recorders present, and somehow this journalist went on a profanity-laden rant about someone or something, management of the team or the league, government, whatever. Anyway, apparently Olbermann got ahold of a copy, and wanted to air it on TV, and was told he couldn’t, because FCC regs would get the network in trouble. So he went off on a rant about restrictions on free speech and so forth, and it was sort of weird to watch.
Reason it was weird is that I more or less agreed with him, but his devotion to his cause, and the lengths he went to argue this, seemed way over the top. The whole thing was just sort of creepy. I lost track of him when he wandered over to a nation-wide sports station; I watch my Dodgers, and maybe a bit of the Lakers; I don’t care what some hockey team in Hartford or a football team in Detroit are doing. They have fans, no doubt, but I’m not even close to being one. I don’t even really care about American League baseball teams much, or Eastern Conference basketball teams. So he went and I didn’t pay any attention. Next I saw him, he’s now a political commentator, and he’s ranting about how Ken Starr looks like Heinrich Himmler. He got in trouble a bit, but of course the left loved that, so he kept his job with only a speed bump.
Thing is, when I saw the Himmler thing, I suddenly realised what had unnerved me about the business with the journalist’s profane rant, all those years before, when he wanted to play it and the network wouldn’t let him. The man has a point of view, and he thinks everyone who disagrees with him is part of an evil conspiracy to destroy the country. He’s a fanatic. I wondered, at the time, why no one else had noticed yet. Apparently he’s also a prima donna (what a surprise) and that, rather than his fanatacism, has finally led to his downfall.
Who is this Keith Olbermann you keep referring to and why is he relevant enough to take up good space on an intelligent website to write about? And, why did I just waste the time to read about this meaningless, unimportant, and irrelevant individual who was the worst face to ever represent ESPN since its first broadcast?
I don’t know why, I guess it is an automatic reaction to seeing one of the most despicable people to ever appear on any network back in the news.
He’s still got a strong following among the left so it is important to refute the leis he spreads before they become widely circulated. Ignore him is like ignoring gangrene, it might make you feel better but eventually you’ll regret it.
eh, his family might still care what he says, but Olbermann is basically done. the 200 people with access to Current TV might watch him by mistake as they scroll past the channel looking for a good movie…that’s about it.
You left out this part from the Dallas Police link you used: “During the interview process, the female complainant stated she had sex with a 23 year old male in a tent at the Occupy Dallas encampment. She also reported to detectives that she had told the 23 year old male that she was 19 years of age.” http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10150353648498716
Not defending the guy, but that seems like a relevant detail, no?
So what? A child is in someway responsible for being sexually exploited by a registered sex offender who previously had violently raped another child around the same age?
Are you implying a man who has previously shown an affinity for preying on 14-year-olds simply didn’t know a 14-year-old when he saw one? Here’s a girl who looks young, has no ID, no means of support, nothing that indicates she is an adult on her person. You and I both know that he knew she was underage as did everyone who was around her.
I believe Lawrence Taylor tried that defense. How’d that work out?
Doesn’t matter how old she is or told him she was (the article specifies that she told him she was 14) when she told him “No” and “stop” and he didn’t, it became rape.
I predict Olbermann will off himself one day, or go on some tirade with the wrong party, and they’ll cut his head off. At best he’ll stroke out on live TV.
What is more troubling to me as with Olbermann’s track record of being fired everywhere he has worked (ESPN canned his sorry fat ass too), and I understand is momma boy offensive to everyone he “touches”, why a man that came with 537 votes of being President of the United States is the last man holding Olbermann up.
Keith Olbermann is a carnie at the freak show. Filthy, a scam artist and irrelevant. The fact Al Gore was almost President is what makes me shudder.
Well said Tex, well said.
Ugh. Keith Olbermann. Gross. Thanks a lot. I was hungry and looking forward to dinner. :-/ Gonna have to run extra miles to get that out of my head.
Flip Romney is the same with his pro-abortion stance. Well the romney/obama stance until the last year or so from flip.
No Means No
*unless it is OWS
Maybe he belongs the Yale chapter of ΔΚΕ?
Keith Olbermann…
The name sounds vaguely familiar.
Didn’t he have a cable variety show or something many years ago?
Keith is an anti-American joke. The worst kind of scum.
I don’t see what the big deal is. After all, he was just Occupying her vagina.
14 year olds can consent to have sex with a man in his twenties. They used to do it all the time in America before the 1960s. The salient point here is that this 14 year old unequivocally did not consent to have sex with this rapist.
** I also knew several girls who did stuff like this quite willingly in high school. Whether or not she can consent legally is beside the point. The fact is that this teen girl was the victim of what Whoopi Goldberg would call “rape rape.”
This guy Olbermann makes the sewer smell pretty good.
MSNBC dumped that evil pervert Olbermann for reasons we don’t yet know about.
But can easily guess.
Even Al Gore can’t get along with Keith Olbermann. What a friggin creep Keith is.
Mark my words… If ANY Conservative journalist had uttered the same words as Keith, the left wing media would have been burning him/her at the stake and calling for their head, their job and their soul from the top of their ivory towers… instead, all we hear is crickets chirping from the left!!!
Olbermann is merely projcting his wish to rape juveniles, by defending this rapist vermin.Like all liberals,Olbermann is a pervert; just wait and see, normalizng pedophilia will become the next big crusade for the left, after pornofying American culture, and institutionalizing gay marriage. When enough liberal judges throw out laws prohibiting child rape, Olbermann will be seen by liberals, as a heroic figure in liberalism’s continued sexual revolution. He’ll be called a “premature girl lover”.
olberman, and his parents, are not strangers to the embrace of barnyard animals. Hell, he even went to college with ‘em.
If Keith and his cat “Precious” are blogging for the Kids at the Kos you know he’s really mentally challenged. I’m not sure why he thinks so much wisdom comes from running back and forth to work in a limo.
In Assange’s case, the charges appear to be self-imposed and intended to keep him in hiding. He sure wouldn’t want to be cornered with my questions about Wikileaks.
Olbermann is just engaging in a little Robespierre’ism. “On ne saurait faire une omelette sans casser des oeufs.”
Or in this case, you can’t stoke a revolution without feeding a few vagrant children to the wolves.
Whether Olbermann is relevant or not, he is, stupidly, articulating what many leftists feel.
Fortunately, Olbermann now dwells in the “timeout box” of the media…along with the dunces at MSNBC….Those two networks are a place to go to be ignored and shunned….and apparently, it works. Though a liberal invention, the “timeout box” is nothing particularly new, it replaced that old, conservative method of “standing in the corner”…
Anyway…all I can say to Keith, Rachel, Chris, Ed and the rest is…”TIMEOUT”!
In Olberman’s defense, just what was that little 14-year old vixen wearing at the time of the assault? Olberman probably thinks she asked for it.
Doesn’t matter what she was wearing or even if she was not wearing anything. It’s still rape if the woman (or man) says no/stop. Doesn’t matter either if she’s 14 and says lets do it, it’s still rape.
If I’m not mistaken Keith was caught years ago with a hooker in a hotel room. Figures he’d had to pay for it…
Sadly enuff, and I do not lessen the importance of this article especially regarding kids and older perverts, this kind of reporting (olberman’s) is far too prevalent. Lies, lies everywhere. Inparticular in the political arena. It gets to the point where the reader pays no attention, the reading is done to kill time or be entertained. We do not react because we do not know the truth.
i consider myself fortunate, i have never seen, watched or listened to keith olberman on radio or t.v., nor have i read any writing of his. i plan to continue to ignore him in the future as i have in the past.
So Keith (Roman P.) Olbermann thinks consensual sex with a 14 year old (or maybe a 7 year old) is just fine. It is quite clear what this person thinks about consensual child molestation.
Almost everyone is missing the point. Keith Olberman pointed out that the list of “17 rapes” published by Andrew Breitbart was deeply flawed. Two incidents were listed twice. Some incidents occured near an Occupy Camp but did not involve anyone from the Camp. Given that these camps are frequently in a downtown area park, that should not come as a surprise. Other incidents were assaults on an Occupy woman but the suspects were outsiders, mosly local homeless men.
Keith properly pointed out that Breitbart drunken rant at an Occupy Camp where he was screaming at them to “stop raping people” and that they were all, “filthy animals” was so over the top that Keith had an easy time as he mocked Breitbart.
This was never about is it OK to have sex with a 14 year old girl. It is not. But this was about Breitbart inventing a list and making wild charges about how horrible are those mostly young Americans who are protesting income inequality, crony capitalism, a lack of jobs, unequal opportunity, and the modern day Robber Barons who are keeping it all going.
I have to wonder if Keith were to have a 14 year old daughter of his own, how he would feel about her having had sex with this guy or any other guy for that matter. I won’t speculate on his on propensities.
After reading this post I watched both of Olbermann’s comments on this issue. Olbermann did not “defend a convicted rapist”. Olbermann is a goof and I have no time for him, but this post is dishonest and manipulative.
Let’s face it ; any story with the name olbermann in it isn’t even worthy of being a piece of fish-wrap from old line media. Let’s not expect any real lessons here, it’s like rubbernecking idiots slowing down to watch a gory traffic wreck ………… nothing to be learned just knuckledraggers getting in our way, again !
Why should Roman Polanski, as a member of the 1%, hog up all the underage girls? Olbermann believes that the 99% should get their share of Lolita tail.
Olbermann,isatreasonoussnake.
The non-existent rapes were not this one, they were the ones that form the basis for saying rape is prevalent or condoned at OWS.
Attention-seeking website claims Keith Olbermann supports rapist of 14-year old
The conservative blog Pajamas Media in a headline claimed left-wing talking head Keith Olbermann defended the rights of rapists. Looking for evidence of this, readers were treated to writing that included:
“This was just another gentle Occupier with a heart of gold enjoying some hot, consensual man-on-teen action. He totally tapped that 14-year-old ass. High fives all around!”
In the comments section of the blog, the author was called out on his fiery headline and the article was being based on the claim that Olbermann “refuses to condemn” this particular rapist. Neither of course have any of the GOP candidates, Andrew Breitbart, John Boehner, the Pope or anyone else…
The author hangs Olbermann’s character for using a CBS quote of a police officer which said the sex was consensual and the girl claimed she was 19. This author did not detail any attempt to get a comment from Olbermann, or find out if his team saw the Facebook update that police did get the girl’s cooperation. At worst, it was a missed detail, but trying to make that out as endorsing this one guy’s right to rape?
It shows the author’s ability to make a persuasive case relies completely on unsupported hype. An F on this assignment. Remember the author Jenn Taylor wasted your time.
