Ohio State Student Group Hosts Hamas Fundraiser
More recently, in February 2006, the OSUMSA hosted a conference sponsored by the Muslim charity Kindhearts on the same day that federal agents raided the Kindhearts offices and the Treasury Department closed the group down and froze its assets for financing Hamas.
The president of the OSUMSA at the time it held its fundraiser for Galloway was Mohamed Sultan — the son of prominent terrorist-supporting sheikh Salah Sultan. Last January, I reported here at Pajamas Media about an appearance of Salah Sultan on Egyptian TV, where he threatened the U.S. with destruction and invoked a notorious Islamic hadith about the eventual extermination of the Jews at the hands of the Muslims. Sultan has also been photographed at events with several Hamas leaders.
Last Friday, the Investigative Project on Terrorism published an article and a 32-page report on George Galloway’s organization, Viva Palestina, that he uses to conduct his fundraising. Among IPT’s findings:
- Viva Palestina USA is not incorporated anywhere. It uses an existing charity, the Interreligious Foundation for Community Organizations/Pastors for Peace (IFCO) to collect donations.
- During fundraisers and rallies, Viva Palestina members often invoke Hamas. In addition, a Hamas website promoted a pending trip by “European political figures” that quoted a Viva Palestina organizer.
- Viva Palestina USA has struck alliances with a number of extremist groups, including La Voz de Aztlan, an organization that advocates the revolutionary overthrow of U.S. territory that it deems to have been stolen from Mexico; the al-Awda Palestine Right of Return Coalition; and Code Pink.
British investigators have already opened up an inquiry into Viva Palestina’s fundraising and financial support of Hamas. The money and supplies raised during Galloway’s U.S. tour this spring were delivered to Hamas officials in July. When he handed off the bag of cash to Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in March, Galloway shouted:
Revolution until victory! Revolution until victory! Revolution until victory! Viva, viva! There’s more money coming in from my friends. Viva viva, Palestine!
We will see if the Justice Department will take a serious look into George Galloway’s “friends” in the U.S., including the Muslim student groups at UC-Irvine and OSU, who are providing him with money, and the potential crimes they have committed by assisting Galloway in his material support for terrorists.

Any investigation should also include determining which of Obama’s minions allowed this dirtbag into the country. It is not like we did not know his history and his links to the terrorists…even slow moving, open door Canada got the message.
“One Jewish group has requested that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder also open an investigation after submitting a report and videos of the event to the Justice Department.”
I hope nobody is holding their breath.
As for it happening at Ohio State (known to us Buckeyes as “Berkeley East”), this comes as no great surprise. Name an ultra-leftist, radical cause, ranging from pro-Palestine/anti-Israel to No Nukes, gun control, deep ecology, you name it, and it finds a congenial home on the OSU campus, driven by a faculty composed almost entirely of the kind of “academicians” Saul Alinsky dreamed of.
Along with Kent State, Ohio University-Athens, Toledo U, and Antioch, OSU is part of Ohio’s “Iron Pentagon” of leftist activism on campus, irrespective of the wishes of either students, their parents, or alumni. Antioch is admittedly under new management now, having gone down to financial defeat under an administration more interested in producing social activism than graduates who could pass a basic proficiency course in English or math. (A common bumper-sticker around the college a year ago said, “Forget Visualizing World Peace, Visualize Using Your Turn Signals”.) But that still leaves the rest of Ohio’s major campuses firmly in the “Revolution Now!” camp.
The amazing thing is that most people not either on campus or with children there don’t realize it. To me, this speaks volumes of just how well the radicals have done at making their dogmas the mainstream in academia while simultaneously neglecting to let the wider world know what they’re up to. Of course, most people outside of the academic world rarely read peer-reviewed papers- or Mother Jones, for that matter.
Probably the best course is for people who contemplate sending their children to an Ohio college is to carefully look over what actually is taught in the classrooms thereof, regardless of what it says in the course catalog. (Although some course titles can certainly be giveaways; beware of any class with the words “Alternative”, “People’s”, or “Post-Modern” in their names.)
In fact, the best course is probably to pick a college outside of the state, even if you’re from Columbus or Cleveland. The further outside the state, the better- think Kansas or Missouri.
Just avoid Massachusetts, California, Washington, Wisconsin, or Oregon, is all.
If all else fails, try Michigan.

No problem here. Muslems hate Christians and Zionists(Joooo’s) Our left(Dems etc) hate Christians and Zionists. Seems like we have some real coming together.
Don’t any “regular” American kids go to our colleges anymore? WTF is going on here? Where are the protests? No matter what Barry says, I think we are beyond the point of giving scum bags like this the time of day, much less a podium for “their” hate speech and fundraising.
Pee Pee (Peacemaking President) is too busy contemplating how to vote Present on Afghanistan to pay attention to all the nuts we allow into the country. He wants to give seniors $250 of their own plus other people’s money. Seniors, while you are still above ground and not buying any green bananas, I recommend you send that dough right into the RNC. The screwball hard left has got to go.
OSU is fine if you stay away from the radical courses. 3 of mine survived OSU as did my husband and I as intact conservatives. We have to fight back. And one survived KSU and found a conservative spouse there to boot. Go Bucks.
Along with Kent State, Ohio University-Athens, Toledo U, and Antioch, OSU is part of Ohio’s “Iron Pentagon”
Let see if I understand: they were indoctrinating you on your taxes? And nobody has forced them to give back every single penny of what they have been paid? Also isn’t diverting money a criminal offence who is supposed to land you in jail?
OSU is fine if you stay away from the radical courses. 3 of mine survived OSU as did my husband and I as intact conservatives
No it isn’t: time spent on political indoctrination isn’t spent on teaching skills to students and translates into poorer jobs for them. Not to mention that the tax payer has been robbed in order to feed a bunch of neverdowells.
I have to admit I do not like George Galloway either. He is an apologist for the previous Iraqi dictatorship and he did it for money. However, his critisism of how the war was conducted during the first 5 years was factual and correct. Something the U.S. Government has only recently accepted and of course, adapted to, which is changing our fortunes for the better so far. I am also rather prone to free speech and debate. This guy is no real threat, just an irritation, trust me. Will he damage these young OSU minds? I do not think so.
Galloway was not “banned” from entering Canada. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) advised him he was afoul of Section 34(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, which makes it illegal to supply funding and material support to groups deemed under Canadian law to be terrorist organizations (in this case Hamas). In other words, they did him the courtesy of warning him about what would happen should he choose to attempt entry into the country, but it was not an outright banning.
Upon receiving this information, Galloway himself chose not to enter the country. Being the snake that he is, he wholeheartedly welcomed and promoted the leftwing outcry that started the whole “refused entry/denial of free speech” lie that has been repeated ever since, mostly by left leaning organizations for whom the cad is something of a darling. In other words, it was his tangible ties to Hamas that was the issue, not the content of his beliefs.
The BBC article I linked to in the article says “MP Galloway banned from Canada”. But according to Louise, that means he really wasn’t banned from Canada, but it was a friendly reminder and Galloway chose to stay away on his own.

I wonder how many liberal Jews know of this incident? Perhaps the self-loathing Axelrod and Emanuel are sponsoring Galloway? Anyhow, I hope that there is one honest person left in the DOJ who will do the right thing.
OSU keeping young skulls full of mush for an additional four years.
Keeping Mommy and Daddy or Mommy and Mommy or Daddy and 10 girlfriends or……………. happy to the tune of $17,000+ for residents and $30,000+ for non residents a year. And Michael Moore says capitalism is bad, he obviously hasn’t been to OSU, lately.
Patrick, the MSM is the same everywhere. Leave it to bloggers to dig down to the truth. Terry Glavin, a Vancouver based blogger who is a member of the sane left, is the one who got to the real story about Galloway. You can read his blog entries for the following dates to get the whole picture, starting here:
March 20, 2009
March 31, 2009
April 7, 2009

Louise, the George Galloway story is nothing new. Nothing Glavin writes is new either. What I was disputing is your claim that Galloway wasn’t banned from Canada when clearly he was. Even the MSM admits it and a Canadian judge upheld his ban. You’re more than free to change the subject, but when you make a claim that something in my article was factually wrong, and all evidence indicates that I was right, at least apologize for the error.
No apology required, Patrick. The man was more or less told by CBSA that he may be arrested at the border if he tried to enter. Under the relevant legislation, the federal minister, who happened to be Jason Kenney at the time and still is, has the prerogative of adhering to the CBSA’s recommendation or not adhering to it, as he sees fit. Kenney chose to stand by the recommendation, with the effect being that had Galloway attempted to enter Canada he would have been arrested and likely tried. What the judge upheld was the interpretation of the CBSA’s recommendation, namely that Galloway was in violation of Canadian law and that the Minister was within his rights to accept the recommendation put before him by the CBSA rather than overrule it. I know it’s a fine point that is hardly worth arguing and you perhaps consider it a distinction without a difference, but that is not the same thing as “banned”. Galloway can come in to Canada any time he wants. He just won’t enjoy his stay very much.
It would be like Roman Polanski setting foot in a third country with which the US has an extradition treaty. Polanski is not necessarily “banned” from that country, but he must know that if he sets foot on their soil in all likelihood he’s just as cooked as he is now, maybe more so. Do you see the difference? Being eligible for arrest is not the same thing as being “banned”.
It is because this meme about Galloway being “banned” is all too often rolled up with all the other leftoid speaking notes involving freedom of speech, fascist Israel, Bush-Hitler, blah, blah, blah, that I try to make the facts of the issue absolutely clear.

As an adjunct teacher at UC-Irvine, I was present May 21 when Galloway solicited and collected money from a crowd of about 800 people. During the Q&A, I pointed out to Galloway that in recent (Dec-Jan)anti-Israel demonstrations in places like Ft Lauderdale, LA, SF and Toronto, pro-Palestinian demonstrators had yelled things like’Long live Hitler”, “Death to Jews”, etc. Gallaway called me a liar as the room erupted in cheers. I pointed out to him that everything I had charged was documented on YouTube.
Galloway is just one of many vicious speakers that the MSU has brought to UCI. Year in and year out, we see speakers who are anti-Israel, anti-America and anti-Jewish as well.
