Obama’s New Deal II Lark
First, at this rate there might not be much of an economy remaining to pay for his grandiose plans. While the president views the Dow as nothing more than a “poll,” it is a gauge of real wealth in the real lives of millions and millions of businesses, investors, retirees, and ordinary voters. Ryan Ellis of Americans for Tax Reform explains that in a “very rough rule of thumb, every 100 points of swing in the Dow is worth $200 billion in shareholder wealth.” So that 280 point drop yesterday means Americans are about $560 billion poorer. (And recall that on Election Day the Dow was 3000 points higher.) And now both the Fed chairman and private economists are predicting a long recession and climbing unemployment into 2010. As a practical matter, then, a morbid economy is not going to generate wealth, even as silly as the Obama accounting methods may be, to pay for a fraction of his elaborate plans.
Second, the president runs the risk of appearing out of touch. His back-of-the-hand dismissal of the stock market already raised eyebrows. But voters and pundits alike might begin to wonder why he isn’t spending his time and energy putting together a comprehensive and credible bank rescue plan or a private sector job-generation plan. If he is supposedly concerned with job creation, why is his vice president talking to Big Labor behind closed doors about card check legislation, which is a job killer ? While his stimulus contained plenty of junk spending by dozens of government agencies, there is not much in there for immediate private sector job development. And the president has taken off the table any tax rate cuts that might encourage productive, economic activity.
In sum, the Obama administration’s temptation to “get it all done” is running headlong into the reality that business bashing, tax increases, uber-regulation, and nationalization of major industries make for a poor formula for economic success. And if Obama learned anything from his campaign, it is that regardless of the circumstances, voters eventually hold the party in power responsible for the economy.
Unless and until the president gets off his New Deal II lark, it is unlikely that he’ll contribute much to the recovery that is necessary for the Democrats to retain power. And if the first month of his administration is any guide, his current agenda is likely to make things a whole lot worse.

Barack Obama and his supporters have concluded that the American economic system, market captitalism, is a criminal enterprise that cannot be saved or modified but must be destroyed and replaced with a government command economy. Indeed, Barack Obama stated publicly and clearly several times, including at his inauguration, that he intended to remake America. The destruction part we are now to our real sorrow belatedly discovering. And Obama is going full speed ahead to accomplish that before the American people and the media wake up to the fact that his wealth redistribution plan will simply impoverish everybody, that his national health plan will reduce health services to all of us, thus making us all, in a sense, “equal.”
It seems to me His Telepropmpterness wants two things, adulation and power. He will say anything to get them. Remember his, “I could never disown him…” absolute? Or, “No earmarks”, except, a Falstaffian number, “drink not, above seven days a week”? Or go through the budget line by line? (Maybe he’s been doing this for 3000 points.) Or the sea levels will recede…? (By 3000 points?) And so on, ad infinitum. Do any of his voters still believe the ‘Iraq, 16 months and out’ promise? He can,will and does promise anything and sound believable, as long as she can read it. (Is he, in this way, Reagen-esque? An empty suit delivering lines?) Mark my words. He both doesn’t care and does know exactly what he is doing. He doesn’t care that people around him, Rahm Iago, Nancy Iago, Harry ‘The Bland’ Iago, and all the other swill and vile Iago’s around him do whatever they want with policy as long as he can read off the lists. He will continue to tell himself nonsense about fairness, and deliver on the political deals he made to occupy the high office where he ought not to be sitting. He’s got his; his voters believe he is sticking it to someone. When smolder inflation bursts into open flame those latter will begin to know something is not right. I expect Obama will direct their anger towards “Anybody but Bush, uh, er, Obama”, and anybody but Congress. The very marginal and poor will suffer terribly. Americans a few steps above this will struggle to make ends meet. The sophisticates and the elites, the glitterati and the Pols will insulate themselves upwind in their echo chambers. If their is violence, various Federales will be unleashed. I would take the “Six years of failed policies” and the “Eight years of failed policies” of President Bush anytime rather than the failed policies of the last several weeks. These economic bankruptcies reflect political bankruptcies, which reflect moral bankruptcies. “WARNING!! THE ‘A’ WORD APPROACHETH!! When Obambi makes light of the stock market, it’s as revealing as his talk about the “profit-to-earnings ratio”. The market indicates what the economy will look like 6 to 12 months from now. He doesn’t get it, his advisors don’t get it, and the Dems in Congress don’t get it.
To paraphrase Burl Ives in “The Big Country”, after 2010, Pelosi, Dingy Harry & company are gonna be the most surprised out-of-office people you ever saw.
Frankly, the only relevant fact for me is that, 6 weeks into a 4 year administration we are rushing headlong into economic disaster. motivations, perspectives and levels of adminstration/congressional understanding are irrelevant. The focus quickly has to be how we get the Republican house in order, alternative plans developed and effectively communicated and excellent candidates chosen and financed in order to take back control of at least one house in 2010. if this is not accomplished we will get to a stage where effective remedial action becomes virtually impossible – which is an obvious objective of the President and Democrat leadership in Congress.
While Rep Boehner’s comments are spot on target – they also serve to highlight the communication gap we have to bridge. If someone takes the trouble to read/listen, understand and put them in the appropriate context, the words are fine. Most folks however are not that involved and interested and so will not take the time to internalize the message. Republicans need to hire some first class Madison Avenue talent in order to learn how to get the message accross. We come accross as old fuddy duddies to the people who actually have a life.

Obama’s effort of killing the engines that produce wealth; private business, banking, investments, savings, energy production is akin to the classic third world policy of taking the productive farms and redistributing supposedly to the non land owners in order to breakup the wealth and food producing large farms in Africa. The difference is that America wealth production is in manufacturing, technology, pharmaceuticals, banking and services.
By killing the goose that produces the golden eggs, he is killing what made America so powerful, the vast capitalistic practices that allowed innovation and wealth creation.
It’s time for a recall. This President with Socialcrats as accomplices are setting to do everything to destroy this nation for good. Some are saying to remake into one big welfare state but I say they are in denial. Just like it’s taking all this time for people to start coughing up the word “MARXIST” even though the evidence was already there before the election something more evil is aloof. Fifty eight million voted against him and I believe the numbers are vastly increasing that would have him out now. Declare there is no war on terror as though 9/11 never happened? Close Gitmo? Send 900 million to Hamas? Get friendly with Iran? You know he is set to cripple our national security like Clinton did. Just look at who he nominated to head CIA. It’s like opening the doors at all points to let in terrorists to cause a great upheavel and then you would think comes marshall law. Meanwhile he is destroying our economy on purpose which like dominos effects everything else including tanking our military strength. This is THE 9/11 of our country’s history in progress right now. Don’t say wait till 2010 say RECALL NOW. Don’t forget those who sided with him in this destruction of our country. But it sure seems consistent with the leftist mentality about….well, pretty much everything. The entrenched media, deadwood division…puts out killed tree tripe day after day after day. They lose readership and circulation at a rate only the current Dow could emulate. Yet, they continue to throw gasoline on their own funeral pyre.
CBS, ABC, NBC newsrooms continue to lose viewers at a precipitous rate, while Fox soars. And the former three stooges continue to poke themselves in the eye and run a saw across their own heads to see if it will bend against the thick skulls.
I really haven’t witnessed much “bobbing up and down” of the stock market…although the phrase does bring Chris Matthews to mind during the election. The entrenched media has strapped on the kneepads from the beginning, willingly servicing national Democrats.

So the question begs itself. Why? What is really, truly, honestly going on here?
I see only two viable answers.
A)For someone raised under the Baby Boomer flag of Hippity Dippity Politics, where nothing is ever fair, the playing field is always uneven, where criminals are victims, victims are heroes and “march” is not a month, it’s a half century…the one way to “cure” it all is to wipe it out completely and start over.
The reason that the stock market (and yo’ 401(k) and yo’ granddaddy’s 401(k)…via Michael Pfleger) are not of concern, is because yo’…came by them unfairly.
So, we are going to clear the board and start over.
“We won” is not a slap in the face, it’s a slit in the throat.
2)Never let the opportunity of a crisis pass without cashing in on it.
While the entrenched media are still in full “Neal and Bob” mode, take a manageable crisis (created in large part BY the 2006 Congress and beyond) and turn it into full blown chaos. Chaos works as great camouflage. Implement the nationalization of everything you can get crammed down. Cram down more power for the White House over the Census. Cram down more power for federal judges (that you will soon install), cram down the takeover of every major industry. Don’t let ANYONE read the fine print…in fact, call it unpatriotic to read it at all.
Hurry, hurry,…. HURRY! The only rush that isn’t welcome…is Limbaugh.

Our Teleprompter President will say or do anything to get his crazy policies passed. He said that every 30 seconds someone goes bankrupt because of health care costs. The study he relied on for this classifies the gambling debts as health care costs. If your husband dies and you go bankrupt it considers that bankruptcy as due to health care costs, even if he never went to the hospital. Just plain dishonest.

Right now comrade Obama is riding the tiger. A true leftist politician must constantly change the subject, introduce new policies and keep the country always in the state of crisis – real or imaginary.
It’s a classical behaviour of a person who is diverting your attention – any thief worthy of his salt does same thing. If Obama stops for a few months and let the people assess what he is doing and how much he is harming the economy – his political power will dissipate.

It seems that Obama is doing the combination of three moves – he is now pushing for a debate on the health care (as if this is going to solve the crisis that is gripping the countries with and without the government run medical care), his friends are moving in Fairness Doctrine (See here: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/seton-motley/2009/02/27/essay-durbin-amendment-new-fairness-doctrine-kicker) and they are reviving the idea about union card check. I believe US will either provoke or enter voluntarily a big war within Obama’s first term. It will either be Iran, North Korea, China or (less likely) some country in Africa and Latin America. Won’t be surprised to see an escalation in Afghanistan and/or Iraq – since both could allow Obama invoke the name “Bush” when explaining what is happening there.
None of this tripe the government is trying will make this current recession any less manageable or one day shorter in length. I am convinced that we can not spend our way out of this hole we find ourselves in. This entire boondoggle will have to eventually run the gambit and come to an end. How long? – I can only speculate years with this method of attempting to throw darts and hit a bullseye. If something good does transpire I am sure the politicians will take credit for it all, while in all honesty it most likely will be the hard nosed common everyday people of this nation sucking up the slop and moving forward as best they can. Let AIG, GM and BoA suffer the consequences of their own bad decisions, let the reckoning with their own greed and business culture begin. The sooner these parasites fall the sooner we can get on with assisting (not bailing out) those who stayed true to fair and equitable business practices and who were not swayed by the prospect of wealth at any cost. This nation has far to many fertile minds, far to many decent citizens willing to work for their keep and far to much “Grit” for failure. Yes, times may become even more difficult than the present but I feel that we can persevere an learn a few lessons along the way (Like – Live Within Your Means).
Well, guys – nationalizing healthcare is really a bailout for the pension funds. When the healthcare in US becomes as inefficient as it is in Europe, more of you guys will die before you retire (or shortly after). I live in a country with national healthcare and I can tell you this: Obama is trying to get you all killed.
