I have yet to see any policy proposal in the real of economics that convinces me that Obama and his advisers truly understand how you grow an economy. What they have demonstrated is a stubborn reversion to pre-Reagan days when the tax rates on capital were much higher and top earners were paying over 70% of their income in taxes to federal and state government. Not even Russia does this. Certainly no Eastern European country wishes to repeat the errors of socialist economics. Even Western Europe is slowly realizing that flat lining or contracting your economy because of onerous taxation, high costs of capital, and strangling regulation is not the way to go. But, because the Social Democratic Western European state has such a dependent clientelle for the government teat it might be impossible to get enough of a polity to change things.

Obama has never run a company. He’s never made investment decisions that affect jobs, products, and a company model. Even Bill Clinton understood what it took to keep the economy growing. Obama shows none of Clinton’s pragmatism.

I prefer not to approach this election from any other position but as an underdog. Because we Republicans right now ARE underdogs in this fight. This thing is far from over. I know my take on it is probably colored by the fact that I live in a Blue State, because others I discuss this with who are from Red States are much more confident of the outcome. But as much as I am more in accord with the folks in “Flyover Country” I know where the population tends to be concentrated. We have an uphill fight ahead of us.
