Obama’s Cardinal Errors
First, while the country is in the grip of rising unemployment and anemic growth, the president has taken a note of passivity and has failed to introduce a single initiative to combat the voters’ primary concern: the lack of private-sector jobs. In his Sunday talk show extravaganza he observed, “Probably the jobs picture is not going to improve considerably — and it could even get a little bit worse — over the next couple of months. … And we’re probably not going to start seeing enough job creation to deal with a rising population until sometime next year.” You would think he would have something to offer to stem the job loss. Imagine how a Republican would be labeled (“callous!” or “indifferent!” or “out to lunch!”) if he showed this little attention to the prospect of double-digit unemployment for the foreseeable future.
Second, his “superior temperament” has turned to peevishness. He sounds like a media critic or an MSNBC talk show host bemoaning the conservative opposition. He has forgotten that the president enjoys the special ability to rise above the fray — unless he fritters away the high ground to get into the mud.
Third, presented with a choice between governing as a centrist and governing as a leftist, he chose the latter, feeding the netroot machine with Bush invectives, championing huge government power grabs, nationalizing two car companies, apologizing incessantly for America’s real and imagined sins, undertaking a spending spree like no other president, and lecturing us about racism (proving that any hopes for a post-racial era were misplaced).
Had Obama run a campaign promising to excoriate his predecessor at every turn, pass a mammoth energy tax and regulatory scheme, chase private health insurance from the market, outspend George W. Bush, deride America to overseas foes, toss valued allies including Israel, Honduras, Poland, and the Czech Republic under the bus, renege on missile defense in Europe and cut our own systems by $2 billion, and hire a “truther” for green jobs czar and an attorney general who wants to talk more and more about race (but not prosecute the New Black Panthers), it is fair to say he would never have gotten elected. So it should be no mystery why so many voters are having buyers’ remorse.
And finally, Obama hasn’t actually gotten much done, at least not much that voters see as positive. His stimulus is regarded as a bust. Americans hate the car company takeovers. And what else has he done? Card check and cap-and-trade legislation are on the back burner. None of his unilateral concessions in foreign policy have borne fruit. (No Russian agreement on Iranian sanctions, no Iranian agreement to move on their nuclear program, no Syrian agreement to stem the flood of terrorists into Iraq, and no sign of reciprocity from Cuba.) And health care reform is where it has been for the last eight months: in legislative gridlock. As Walter Russell Mead put it:
It all looked so easy last winter when a cocky administration and a hyperbolic press talked about a new Lincoln and a new FDR in the White House. Nine months later, the president has more irons in the fire than trophies on the wall.
The Democrats are disunited worried about 2010. Abroad, the foreigners don’t seem to be listening: not Netanyahu, not Libya, not Iran — even tiny Honduras blew off Obama’s demand that it reinstate an ousted president. Less than a year into his presidency, his enemies at home and abroad think he’s weak and on the way down.
The president could turn this around by focusing on job creation, ceasing to snarl at critics, adopting a more centrist approach on domestic and foreign policy, and finding some areas of common agreement to pass through Congress (e.g., real education reform). But so long as Obama and his spinners remain convinced the real issue is not enough him or the mean conservatives or racism, there is little chance of that.

Maybe President Obama needs a little help from a previous president:
“No morn ever dawned more favorable than ours did; and no day was every more clouded than the present! Wisdom, and good examples are necessary at this time to rescue the political machine from the impending storm.”
George Washington in a letter to James Madison 11/5/1786
But of course, he never really was a centrist in the first place.
Obama needs to go. He is a menace.
This man has spent too much time campaigning and to little time governing (which might be good). He doesn’t seem to know that constant exposure eventually get to the point where no one will listen any longer. He might like to see himself on television and hear his thoughts constantly but slowly more and more people are tuning him out.
The decisions he has made seem to be bad ones and as stated in the article Iran is a real threat and must be dealt with more than more sanctions and a military option might be all that is left, you simply can not allow a regime like Iran to actually develop one or more nuclear weapons regardless of its power, and also all the work on missile systems is quite troubling.
In Afghanistan the current strategy seems to be one of making police out of our soldiers and trying to win the hearts of the Afghans. We need to actually go in and root out all opposing factions destroy all the poppy fields. To think the only military experience this man has is what he has gotten since he took office is almost frightening.
I hope his domestic policies all fail as they are too expensive and will ruin our economy (as if it weren’t bad enough already). I also hope that sanity will come to the administration and they will listen to the military and not the polls and develop a strategy to WIN in Afghanistan and then get out to prepare for the likelihood that we need to stop Iran and North Korea from their nuclear programs by force if necessary since sanctions have as yet not born too much good if any at all.
All Americans should write letters of apology to President Obama.
I plan to apologize for not looking hard enough to find a job, investing in AIG stock and causing Duke Energy to burn too much coal for the electricity I consume.
Please forgive me for living beyond the age of 62 and even considering pension or retirement.
I’m so sorry!!!

Obama’s cardinal errors are not errors at all, but rather the character flaws of a pathetic, inept, conflicted and dangerous man.
Obama is a pathological liar and a megalomaniac narcissist sworn to political perfidy. He is a see-through phony who has lost our trust (never had mine).
Like a man who wakes up from an all night drinking session to discover he is stuck with an ugly, unwanted tattoo, the electorate has awoken with a Hope-n-Change hangover to realize they are stuck with Obama……and MissHell….and Biden….and Hillary….and Van Jones….and 50,000 Islamists on the White House Mall….and……
~ The Infidel Alliance
Obama has failed to use the obvious common sense solution to every problem he’s faced. And the fawning, sycophantic press frames each of these issues as either a win or a loss for him, instead of for the American people.
All of our current problems are a direct result of Obama’s inexperience, his infatuation with the dream of government control for everything and everyone, and his failure to understand the soul of America.
Your four points are good ones, Miss Rubin, but there’s a larger, enveloping consideration that enfolds them all: Barack Hussein Obama has made it plain what his real priorities are, and they are antithetical to American interests and the well-being of Americans.
Not only has Obama acted in contradiction to his centrist campaign rhetoric; he’s attempted to fan-dance his social-fascist programs as somehow good for us as individuals. Not only has he behaved peevishly in his public statements; he’s also given his allegiants sub rosa license to undertake campaigns of calumny against those who’ve questioned or criticized his agenda. Not only has he hobbled his initiatives by moving too quickly on too many of them; he’s made it plain that he knows Americans will swiftly wake up to his intentions, and that the only hope for achieving his aims is to ram his agenda home before enough of us have awakened and mobilized.
In other words, Obama has exposed himself as a liar and a villain.
Unfortunately, our major conservative voices, with very few exceptions, seem determined to continue to approach Obamunism as mistaken or misguided, rather than call it out for the deliberate and evil thing it is. We groundlings must take the torch into our own hands…and the 9/12 demonstration suggests that we’re doing so.
Pray that it’s not too late.
Jenifer makes two central points in my mind.
When confronted with harsh economic realities the President’s considered responses are all left oriented “solutions” with a proven track recrd of failure. He attacks an economic problem with a political response. The 787 billion dollar “Stimulus” is the most prime of several examples as it’s purpose was not an effective economic response, but pay back to political friends and friendly programs. The stimulus was not targeted, tempoarary or timely. It did little to help the private sector where jobs are created, it funded pet programs and friends, and it doesn’t spend most of its funding until year two and three. Another example of political cronyism trumping sound economics would be the “bailout” of the auto companies, where the UAW was given enhanced economic power in return for prior political support.
The other point she makes is that the Presidents administration is feckless. He has achieved very little in 8 months. The economy has deteriorted markedly since January with continued negative economic growth and soaring unemployment post stimulus. He said if Congress passed the stimulus unemployment wouldn’t go above 8%. How’d that prognostication work out? He has no foriegn policy achievments to point to with the exception of a couple of dead Somali pirates. His Afghan policy is now under review after his chosen field commander has correctly requested 40 k additional counter insurgency troops. Iran has accelerated nuclear development and slaughtered it’s own citizens. Healthcare “reform” proposals backed by the administration are disfavored by clear a clear majority of US voters across different demographic groups. Van Jones turned out to be ineffective and a political disaster, as will a number of his other, so called, advisors. The public increasingly views Obama as inneffective and incredible, because he hasn’t accomplished much and what he says is often demonstrably false.
The President chose to lead as he has, and will pay for it in the coming months as will the rest of us.
The most accurate cardinal error list about Obama is one word that cannot be printed here.
Meantime, dress him up however you like, bring him in from the center of the stage, the left, the right or down in the orchestra pit; the facts are that the man is an incompetent, phony liar and sneak that collectively has already made the most dangerous mess that our nation has ever faced.
He has the answer as to why everyone else is wrong, how and what they should do if they were smart enough to listen to him. He never shuts up and coming up on a year in office the man has yet to turn in an honest day of work or come up with a single thing that actually works.
I have zero pity of or sympathy for anyone having “buyers remorse” when it comes to Obama. It has been; and continues to be their own brews and brands of arrogance, cockiness, greed, ignorance, lust, smart mouthed attitudes and even hatred of America itself that caused them to support and vote for Obama in the first place. It is they that should suffer the most from Mr. Obama.
Sorry for the double comment,
Obama and Jimmy are always telling us too much about the things no one wants to hear.
Jennifer, you’re being far too kind, he’s likely made more than four cardinal errors. Oh,how I long for the Clinton years! I’ll take the hyper-partisanship and all of Bill’s lustful ways for a decent economy, a President who could communicate, who would listen to others, and learned from his mistakes.
Now we have the “can you hear me now” wannabe TV star who talks and talks and says nothing. Jobs is something he’ll care about someday, probably after he has to find a new one. It makes sense that Jimmy Carter has come to his defense. While he may compare himself to Lincoln and FDR, it is JC–Jimmy Carter–that he is most like.
“First, while the country is in the grip of rising unemployment and anemic growth, the president has taken a note of passivity and has failed to introduce a single initiative to combat the voters’ primary concern: the lack of private-sector jobs.”
Is being honest a cardinal error?
Who is the Private Sector? Failed banks, mortgage crooks, job outsourcers, Wall Street gamblers, inept State administrators, delusional car manufacturers, etc?
I believe the government burden falls on the shoulders of legislators, but these geniuses get billions of dollars from the private sector to screw the consumer (health care, one of them).
“2nd. He sounds like a media critic or an MSNBC talk show host bemoaning the conservative opposition.”
You said it, ‘the opposition’. They spread misinformation and lies every day. They make the public live in a cloud of haze. Somebody has to set them straight, wouldn’t you?
“Third, presented with a choice between governing as a centrist and governing as a leftist,”
Those are meaningless labels applied to executive decisions. One would think that Russia and the Eastern Block would open their borders to their communist American new brothers. Conservative mouthpieces are laughable, except for the wackos who live in the haze.
“And finally, Obama hasn’t actually gotten much done, . . . And health care reform is where it has been for the last eight months: in legislative gridlock.”
That’s right, legislative gridlock. That’s where it’s at. I’ve been saying this for months!
And this did not mention amnesty for illegals so they will qualify for nationalized health care. And don’t forget about his half-brother in Kenya living in that cardboard box or whatever. Obama really, really cares an enormous amount about himself.
So what’s next? A show like the boring Leno show? No wait! He already has that covered.
You racist wing-nuts will never learn. Obama is our ruler now, he has a mandate and you will all submit to his enlightened policies. In the process you backward hillbilly rednecks will come to realize true social equality and harmony. Obama is without sin and error and can do no wrong, he is a savior who has created millions of jobs, reduced our debt and saved the economy by leaving Iraq, and all within his first year!! He will heal the earth too soon with economic tariffs and save millions of people in Africa with mosquito nets and free abortions. Yes you will all be paying for all these programs. You will all finally suffer equally with the rest of us (yippee) and you will also be paying for my utilities, my mortgage and healthcare. You will be paying my neighbor’s too. Nothing you can say or write can challenge the hope and change Obama embodies. Obama is who we’ve been waiting for and now here’s here to stay. He and his czars will rule America for decades like Castro who is now our dear friend like Chavez and Ahmedinejad, so you uneducated Zionist fascists are never ever ever in power again! This is payback for greedy capitalism, slavery, shoving the bible down our throats, for women’s oppression, your warmongering and for Fox News! You will be silenced once and for all by Obama’s brilliance and we liberals will do everything we can to make our eternal president’s dreams come true. Everything! WE will appropriate every liberty and private possession, nothing and no one can stop us now. This nation is changed forever. Welcome to the Internationale!
Viva Che, Viva NYT, Viva the Dems!!
Truth to Power, Legalize POT!
We need to be prepared for Barack Obama’s eventual mental breakdown. He is not wrapped tightly. The odds are likely that Joe Biden will have to take over the presidency within six months. How can this be achieved without pushing the country into a constitutional crisis?
President Obama is always truthful in what comes out of his mouth, even if woefully incomplete and frequently incorrect. He said that there will not be an improvement in the jobs situation until next year some time. He is correct. The jobs will appear just in time for the 2010 elections. More will appear just before his re-election.
He could produce the jobs now, but it will not serve his purposes. He needs people to see how competent he is, but what he is really showing them is how little regard he has for their current pain. Being completely honest, he might just as well have said, “You’ll get jobs when it best suits my purposes.”
Lord save us!
Four Errors
Marxist. Muslim. Narcissist. Ignorant.
But he is indeed elegant and charming, so though the mask is slipping, it’s not coming off fast enough.
2012 The End of an Error.
C’mon vivo- what about all the “shovel ready” jobs the great one had on tap; remember, all that was needed was the great stimulus plan to pass, and then, Presto! jobs for everyone! That gridlock is caused by his own Party. Remember-your guy/party won! Even his own people can recognize he is a loser/screwup. When will you figure it out, or finally admit it?
…
….”if only e moved to the centre” WHEN PIGS FLY ! ….get real this guy is a narcissist.
below is a link to a very interesting articale
http://www.faithfreedom.org/obama.html
An all-pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration or adulation and lack of empathy, usually beginning by early adulthood and present in various contexts. Five (or more) of the following criteria must be met:
•Feels grandiose and self-important (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents to the point of lying, demands to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
•Is obsessed with fantasies of unlimited success, fame, power or omnipotence, unequalled brilliance (the cerebral narcissist), bodily beauty or sexual performance (the somatic narcissist), or ideal, everlasting, all-conquering love or passion
•Is firmly convinced that he is unique and, being special, can only be understood by, should only be treated by, or associate with, other special, unique, or high-status people (or institutions)
•Requires excessive admiration, adulation, attention and affirmation, or failing that, wishes to be feared and notorious (narcissistic supply)
•Feels entitled. Expects unreasonable or special and favorable priority treatment. Demands automatic and full compliance with his expectations
•Is “interpersonally exploitative” i.e., uses others to achieve his or her own ends
•Is devoid of empathy. Is unable or unwilling to identify with or acknowledge the feelings and needs of others
•Is constantly envious of others or believes that they feel the same about him or her
•Is arrogant, has haughty behaviors or attitudes coupled with rage when frustrated, contradicted, or confronted
I don’t know… I think this is much more malevolent. The stimulus bill, written by whom? And it must be passed immediately with no congressperson having time to read it. Health care bill, 1000+ pages, $1 trillion+, got to be voted on before the August recess, again, written by whom? These bills are starting to look an awful lot like Acorn, where the system is just massively overwhelmed by fraud and nobody knows where all this money went. Weather underground meets Chicago pay-to-play politics. Under all other presidents, most Americans’ lives changed little, they maybe paid a bit more or less in taxes, but life went on as usual. Now, everyone I go in my little corner of America, I see small businesses closing left and right, I see people with vacation homes who are now renting them out for the first time. Shops on Saturday afternoons are empty.
President Obama is shredding the very Constitution he is meant to enforce with every attempted power grab for the Executive Branch such as his precious Health-Care fiat, Card Check, Cap & Trade, Amnesty, etc al; therefore, he must destroy the United States of America to change it into a 3rd World Banana Republic as President Obama becomes Dictator Obama. Obama’s true goal is to be a dictator. However, I believe the other Congressional Democrats will back off from the radical Marxist as fast as Superman’s exposure to kryptonite; President Obama is already radioactive & making himself even moreso with every vacuous speech. President Obama will continue to make serious errors because he is no leader, but a spoiled overgrown Affirmative Action brat with a large chip on shoulder for the USA & we Americans. President Obama’s arrogance, ignorance, & lust for power coupled with his malignant narcissism will destroy him. He will make certain the Tea Parties grow exponentially.
Thanks to the Statist Obama, the Democrats will be tarnished that no one will elect a Democrat as POTUS for another 20 years.
It all comes down to trust, or rather misplaced trust.
America’s good presidents have trusted America’s people, and not trusted America’s enemies. This president has it all backwards. He trusts America’s enemies, leaving anyone with common sense completely agape at his actions and apologies. Then he distrusts America’s people. He cannot speak the plain unvarnished truth about what he wants, because he knows we won’t go along with it. He — along with all the power of the state — must be in control because we can’t be trusted enough to make our own decisions. Is it any wonder that so many are finally waking up to this, and deciding that they cannot really trust HIM?
Wow! More smart stuff from the supporters of: “Axis of Evil”, “The Fundamentals of the Economy are Strong”, “They’re in the Last Throws”, “Bring it On”, “Saddam and Bin Laden as one”, “Heck of a Job Brownie”, Scooter, “I’m sorry I got in the way and had to let you shoot me in the face Mr Chaney sir!”, Vitter, Macacca, surplus to start…deficit to end, losing two wars at once, losing the House and Senate, Alan Keys (seriously, you think Buckley would agree?), that wierd Orli birther lady, I could go on all day.
I think that the ‘form’ of the Obama presidency has two bodies.
There’s the immediate presence of Obama, obviously picked by the Democratic Party to be a Salesman. But that’s all; just The Voice of the Party.
Then, there’s the Mind, hidden behind The Voice. This Mind, which has taken over the old Democratic Party is a hard left radical socialism. Its agenda is to destroy the private capitalist economic and social structure and insert a socialist infrastructure to the US. And, in foreign affairs, align with the socialists, communists and reject capitalism and democracy.
Obama The Voice? He’s a pathological narcissist. In his case, he probably moved into this state in his early teens. He lives in a ‘cocoon’, a make-believe world where he must control all interactions with him. And these interactions must be adulatory and submissive. If not, he can become enraged, and if it continues, he’ll throw you off a cliff, you don’t exist for Obama.
He has perfected a triad of tactics to charm you to His Will. Misinformation…Obama has long ago moved out of awareness of fact versus fiction, truth versus lie. Emotional manipulation of hope and fear. Obama’s rhetoric is filled with ‘change’, with a utopian future state. And fear; we are always on the brink of a catastrophic crisis unless we do As He Says.
And finally, if you continue to resist him, he’ll accuse you of bias. It’s always your fault if you dont do as he says..it’s never that his Will is a bad idea…it’s you who is the problem.
He remains a 13 year old. Think of him as that age. He’s intellectually ignorant and shallow, uninterested in learning, unaware of history, economic theory, political structures..What does he like to do? Basketball, golf..and above all, ‘partytalk’, by which I mean he likes to be the Man of the Party, where he can talk and talk and charm and manipulate everyone around. So, he’s not one to come up with an economic policy, a foreign policy, he won’t read the Bills, he won’t analyze them..but..he’ll go in front of the public and smile and wink and manipulate.
The Democratic Party leadership, radical socialists who have taken over the Party, who chose Obama, have a problem. Can their Salesman, who has no real understanding of their policies and their effects…actually Sell the Goods?
Obama can’t answer questions – he’ll insist something isn’t a TAX when it is. He’ll tell you that His Stimulus will save hundreds of thousands of jobs – all untrue…He’ll tell you that ‘the jobs have rebounded and thousands of new jobs have developed’..untrue. In the next speech, he’ll tell you that the jobs won’t emerge for a few years. Since Obama sees no distinction between Fact and Fiction, he has no problem with these contradictory claims.
And, Obama requires lots of high maintenance attention. He’s not someone to sit in an office and read and think. No, he has to be on the Late Night shows, on stage at carefully scripted screened Town Halls where the Chosen Audience will cheer Him as The Chosen One. And he needs this adulation more and more.
Dissent from Obama? He can’t handle it. So, to keep him stable..his Handlers have to tell him, and Americans, that the reason people don’t like Him, is because they are ‘racist’. Or, as Obama has also informed us, Americans who dissent are the problem; they don’t accept ‘change’. Or they dislike government; or they are ignorant. Obama cannot accept that the policies are to blame.
Can this Radical Socialist Gang, who are now running the party, get their socialist structure through – without Americans realizing what they are doing? That is obviously their agenda..get it through without readng the bills, without debate. And use Obama as the untouchable Charmer..who can charm, wheedle, wink and joke Americans into submission. Dissent? heck – that’s easy…shut everyone up by accusing them of racism.
But..it’s not working. Obama’s charm tactics don’t work over time and reflection. And Obama’s ignorance has to be hidden; his need for adulation has to be fed. And people are ‘wising up’ and rejecting the BackRoom Gang’s socialism.
What will their next strategy be?
Vivo: How did you make the giant leap from Obama being “passive” as meaning he’s “honest”?
Re: “14. vivo:

Oh, you forgot to mention some things Obama has done and is doing so I will help you out…
Fixing Iraq
Fixing Afghanistan
Trying to fix the Bush economic meltdown
Taking on Big insurance/Big Oil for Americans
Stopped Torture.
Invest in Jobs growth.
Fixing Health Care.
Creating green growth.
And your article, is centered around your complusive sex “fantasy” that he is part of the Black Panthers?
Is this an entertainment site?
Get real. Get educated.
write another one “after you pass gov 101″
From #17 “The odds are likely that Joe Biden will have to take over the presidency within six months. How can this be achieved without pushing the country into a constitutional crisis?”
=========================
You say that as if it’s a bad thing!
Gee, what did anyone expect when we elected a guy with a resume which could fit on a postage stamp? A guy who has never held down a real job? A guy whose hard-left beliefs and associations, and his happy participation in corrupt Chicago machine politics, were plain for all to see, notwithstanding the bootlicking press’ attempts to whitewash them?
Basic problem: Obama got himself elected by pulling a bait-and-switch, and the people are beginning to realize they’ve been had.
@ Rick #21;
“C’mon vivo- what about all the “shovel ready” jobs the great one had on tap; remember, all that was needed was the great stimulus plan to pass, and then, Presto! jobs for everyone!”
I don’t ever recall a time when Americans needed a $787 billion stimulation to go get a ditch digging gig.
I’ve been for long a proponent of Jennifer’s point #1 (Obama’s casual treatment of the employment situation in the country, which is the chief anxiety cause around), as an essential cause for The One’s decline.
A mechanical liberal roboton with no understanding of the working of the world, Obama thought that the porkulus will suffice to grease a badly sputtering engine, things would return to normal and he, upon many, many triumphal marches, would return to his favorite enterprise, that is giving interviews forever thereafter – it ain’t happened so, the situation is much more complex and treacherous, it needs constant and ingenius tending, yet Obama’s is simply un-prepared for such task. (And certainly MNSBC is not the one to remind him that he wasn’t elected as an interviewee-in-chief, but as…)
Secondly, the anxiety over the cataleptic landscape of the jobs market and Obama’s cavalier treatment of this issue is compounded by the increasing doubts about Obama’s basic managerial abilitie.
In any type of job higher than dozing on a bench on a pier, one faces many “priorities” that have to be hierachyzed, addressed in the sequence of their importance – and here Obama showed that besides having no concern for the American middle & working class, he hasn’t the sense of prioritizing either, by foolishly picking up the Health Care reform (a rather philosophical issue which prior to this bruhaha was languishing somewhere on the liberals’ shelf), and succeeding to make from it a Maelstrom that is absorbing the energies and focus of politicians, media etc., the citizenry watching in dismay how true & immediate problems are ignored –
So, “full Ginsburg” and incoming wall-to-wall UN speeches coverage notwithstanding, Obama has confirmed the worst expectations regarding him in fall 2008 – an arrogant, disconnected and incompetent guy, sloshed in power by the anxieties of a major economic crisis and by a cultural implosion the left had been nurturing for long.
How long his “simpatico” presence will manage to deflect concerns about his fitness for the job, and how long the citizenry will remain immersed in indifference regarding him, I don’t know – but it’s a certitude for me that had McCain been elected as president, we would have been better, both home and in foreign affairs.
Is being honest a cardinal error?
No, but it would be completely out of character for Obama.
“Poor Citizen”: Please enlighten us. How is Obama “fixing Iraq and Afghanistan”? LOL! I could reel off the rest of your inane list but let’s just start with those two.
I await your talking points, er, I mean information.
When you elect someone without enough executive experience to organize a kegger in a brewery…
RE #14/vivo:
1) “[...] Who is the Private Sector? Failed banks, mortgage crooks, job outsourcers, Wall Street gamblers, inept State administrators, delusional car manufacturers, etc? [...]”
No, vivo, Private sector is transmission shops, farmers, manufactures small or large of anything from shoes to excavators, film companies, marketing outfits, printers, etc. etc. – and they DO NOT HIRE BECAUSE THE CAN”T.
2) “You said it, ‘the opposition’. They [media] spread misinformation and lies every day. They make the public live in a cloud of haze. Somebody has to set them straight, wouldn’t you?”
Vivo, poor soul – the NEA, MSNBC and ACCORN are examples of integrity you plan to provide as evidence here?
3) “Third, presented with a choice between governing as a centrist and governing as a leftist,” -
“Those are meaningless labels applied to executive decisions.”
Vivo, should we stop defining left/right, North/South and up/down?
3)“And finally, Obama hasn’t actually gotten much done [...] That’s right, legislative gridlock. [...]
… gotten much done.
And we ain’t seen nothing yet, as failures go – topping Obama’s proven incompetence in the matters described by Rubin’s article, we have the missiles shield debacle, then the Afghanistan situation, which, as today’s developments show, is worse and worse managed by the Grand Calif Shovelface the 1st. of North America -
Get an energy booster, vivo, you’ll badly need it soon -
I think Obama is being very successful at what he “really” wanted to do. The majority of Americans are to blame. Such a shame, this was once a truley great country.
Notice how Obama is, yet again, using his ‘Do as I say or catastrophe will result’ tactic.
This is his Second Tactic, with the First Tactic being ‘misinformation’. And remember the Third Tactic of accusing you of bias if yu don’t accept His Word.
Obama has already used these tactics with the Stimulus..remember his ‘we are in an economic crisis’..and he got his unread, undebated pork bill passed which did zilch for the economy but DID triple the deficit. His health bill? Also presented as ‘we are in a crisis’…[unknown to most people, strangely enough.]
Now, he’s in his telepromopter rant at the UN, telling them ‘the world is exploding’..unless, heh, we insert a global Rule and destroy capitalism. Tell that to the Chinese and their new weekly coal-fired plants. But, in the meantime, Obama will destroy the US economy.
Remember, Obama is The Voice, a robot, he doesnt THINK about these policies and programs. He sells them as he sells himself. Reject the first, and to Obama, that means that you reject the second. He doesn’t like that..
The Real Four Mistakes:
1) Not preparing better for the inevitable childish, petulant, and willfully ignorant obstruction by the Party of No (No Ideas, No Ethics, No Help….)
2) Expecting the mainstream corporate media to not conflate absolutely idiotic and malicious rubbish from the right with legitimate debate and criticism.
3) Not stretching out his proposals and plans in more separated stages. Not everything has to be done in the first 9 months, especially after having been handed the worst economic crisis in decades.
4) Not using better marketing for the benefit of the rather large portion of the population easily distracted by shiny objects and 2 or 3 word catch phrases.
There are those for whom President Obama can do no wrong. (see mindless drivel in comments above)
To be fair, there are indeed those for whom President Obama could do no right, including a few comments above.
To the extent that our current President is fully invested in being the champion of the far reaches of one end of the political spectrum, then one should not be surprised to see nationalized health care, unilateral nuclear disarmament, reduction of “global warming”, etc., etc., etc., on the White House buffet menu.
Because politics, at its core…is hypocrisy as high art, one should also not be surprised to see the coverup of crimes committed by those who “swing” heavy clubs in moving votes toward the incumbents. Backwoods justice…(via payback), for the Black Panthers, ACORN,….a little snap judgment meddling on behalf of Gates and a mouthful of snappish comments about those “clingers”…who really are pitiful creatures, when they aren’t being “racist” and “bitter”.
The National Endearment of the Artsy …a movement to utilize brazenly, what we all knew to be true anyway…”here is money for OUR kind of entertainment, now get me and mine elected and get my issues some good propaganda”…a state run festival paid for by the masses, so the elites can have a private party.
Not to say that it hasn’t been fun watching the peevish and snappish behavior applied to the lapdog media from time to time. Being swatted on the snout by one’s own rolled up newspaper…well, at least someone is using it for something. In a short while, all the newspapers will be rolled up…into a state run propaganda machine, paid for by the masses…to feed them the same one note, echo chamber, detritus and fraudulent “news”…pre-approved and pre-masticated for the mindless lemmings who lap it up now anyway.
It won’t be a “tax”, however…because the dictionary does not yet have a word for paying for phony news, which nobody bothers with, because nobody believes it anyway.
Legislation by the uber-controlled House and Senate has been given a new twist. The Microwaved Freeze-Dried Banquet. First you microwave the 12 course meal, then you immediately freeze dry it. Don’t read the instructions and don’t let anyone else read them either. Reheat in four years…
Stifle debate. Call any and every critique “racist”. This way, you never have to defend any issue on the merits of it. Have specious arguments put forth by one milky white, dowdy, woman with no personal conscience from the propaganda ministry and by one milky white, drooling, cretin ex-President…they carry your water …well, about as well as they carry their water…but, they make sense to the mindless lemmings, anyway.
And, as a final act…all our old friends are replaced by our new fellow travelers…inexorably marching toward “reset”.
Four Cardinal Errors?
1)ACORN Getting caught on tape
2)National Endearment for the Artsy getting caught in that phone call
3)Getting caught making the “bitter clinger” comment in SF
4)Not passing the legislation to snuff out the Internet and talk radio in the “Fairness Doctrine et al” soon enough
I spent weeks at the gym working out,

trying to get my body from insurance sales into Schwarzenegger manhood so I could stimulate the economy building roads,

minimum wage.

“Fixing Iraq”
No. The surge under the Bush adm. did that.
“Fixing Afghanistan”
In what way? The general is asking for more troops, and ‘voting present’ BO is sitting on the fence.
“Trying to fix the Bush economic meltdown”
With a quadrupling of the deficit? That’s a laugh.
“Taking on Big insurance/Big Oil for Americans”
No. Taking on big insurance/big oil to undermine the private sector. No American in their right mind wants that.
“Stopped Torture”.
No. Undermined the CIA.
“Invest in Jobs growth”.
With unemployment rates rising as we speak? Surely you jest.
“Fixing Health Care”.
Depends on what the meaning of ‘fix’ is.
“Creating green growth”.
The only thing this man is growing is the size and scope of gov’t.
“And your article, is centered around your complusive sex “fantasy” that he is part of the Black Panthers?”
The Black Panthers are sexy? News to me. And she didn’t say that; she was referring to those black thugs who were intimidating white voters last November.
“Get real. Get educated.”
Speak for yourself.
Obama wouldn’t be in as much trouble as he is in now if he hadn’t linked himself so closely to Congress and advocated so fervently for these horrid bills.
But he’s stuck in eternal campaign mode and just makes himself a fool towing every liberal policy presented.
If he actually acted like an independent person he might get more respect. Instead he’s muddied by groupthink.
No mistakes and no errors in O’s admin until now, America is gloriously sailing toward the end of Freedom, and toward a soft dictatorship of commies, unions, internationalists, all under the control of Soros and his brothers.
O’s administration has already greatly helped the mullahs of Iran (by omission) the commies in central and south America (by action and omission), the palestinian terrorists (with money, actions, omissions), the osama terrorists (attacking the CIA etc).
Defense budget messed up, Afghanistan war messed up.
Nine months of successes for a subversive president.
Congrats.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
PS America has never seen a real subversive, it doesn’t have the natural defenses to fight it.
Yes, the people have moved. Will they keep moving ? Will the resistance to socialism grow ?
That is the question.

Four fundamental error, eh?
1. Attempting to commit radical changes to a $15T economy and 223 year old nation in an all at once manuever.
2. Outsourcing the bills of contention to that pack of pork thieves congress.
3. Using charisma and admonishment as the sale pitch rather than substance. Eventually, the volume of hope and charm will begin to equal the volume of reality and taxes and government control.
4. As the exposure meter begins to peg out, the meteoric rise of the unknown outsider to change politics as usual in Washington begins to expose what has really been behind his stealth agenda.
There is only so long that the Bush derangement syndrome can give him traction to his causes for change. Obama is not a liar, he is an implier, and his magic voice lets his audience fill in their projected dreams without conditions. The missle defense reversal examples that. The implication was that there would be a newer, better, faster system, sometime in the future.

Fixing Iraq? Obama? That assertion nearly precipitated a bladder issue, so I had to skip the rest of your resume. You see, that’s the trouble with contemporary American (sic) higher education. It’s just darn difficult maintaining a meaningful dialogue when one’s interlocutor has a sixth grade education and a third rate mind.
#29 Poor Citizen
By fixing Iraq, you mean following the plan left by the Bush Administraion.
Fixing Afghanistan- by trying the troop build up that Bush did in Iraq, and although all the democrats were against it, it worked there.
Trying to fix the Bush economic meltdown, that started with the housing market that was deregulated by the Clinton Administraion, and raised the level of sub-prime mortgages, which was what Obama did in Chicago and supported by Andrew Cuomo. Although, when Bush AND McCain said that Fredie Mac and Fannie Mae needed to be regulated, congress felt them to be solvent and did nothing.
Taking on Big Insurance/Big Oil-examples please!
Stopped torture-not exactly, just tied the hands of our interrogators when dealing with terrorists (Sorry I’m not nor will be politically correct)
Invest in Job Growth–really?? Unemployment is over 9% now and still growing.
Fixing Health Care-You mean trying to take over health care and make it government run- which hasn’t worked with the Post Office, Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare….
Creating Green Growth–Nothing has been created, Van resigned in disgrace, his cap and trade policy is a failure against the american people.
Jennifer, we keep coming back to a point of view I have described in earlier posts.
For all his perceived intelligence, the One is really not too smart. For all the perceived bonhomie, this man is really an aggressive leftist.
Or, as I like to say, Stupid & Aggressive.
No need to listen to his critics, even if they might hold a kernel of truth for him, permitting a “reset” of his presidency.
Frankly, I admire your writing, and your attempts to help this man see the errors of his ways. Too bad he has no interest in them…he has a story and he is sticking to it.
The problem with satirizing leftists is that their beliefs are so outrageous that it’s hard to tell the difference between satire and a real leftist shooting his mouth off.
I notice that many honorable posters here misinterpret the language of the trolls:
when the trolls say that Hussein “fixed” Iraq or Afghanistan
they mean that
Hussein is doing his best to assure that the islamists win.
In that, the trolls are right.
The same applies to other matters: he is “fixing” Honduras, making sure that the commie who tried a coup will be able to try again, he is “fixing” Iran, making sure that no American missile can stop the iranian warheads and making sure that the mullahs are not disturbed in their complex work of torturing and massacring the dissent.
He is “fixing” many other things (American Freedom, American free economy, etc.)

Jennifer Rubin Said: “Theories abound…”
Nobody, Jennifer, NOBODY is adressing the 8,000,000,000,000 pound Gorrilla in the room!
As in 2006, when the Electorate smacked-down the Rebublican Party for being too liberal with money and policies, they did it again this last election.
If we’re going to have a Fascist for President (or Statist), VOTE FOR THE LEAST DECEPTIVE ONE!
Yes, Obama’s a big fat liar, but McCain is bigger, fatter liar!
I heard a great analogy: the Obama Administration would drive us off a cliff at 300 mph… the McCain administration would have driven us off a cliff at 35mph…
Which is better?
That big ugly gorilla in the room is the American Electorate trying to tell everyone that they’ll take disaster over dishonesty. With Disaster, at least, there is clarity. With dishonesty, there isn’t.
Obama is dishonest too, you say? Sure! But he’s too stupid to lie with a straight face! That’s the point!
How can this be achieved without pushing the country into a constitutional crisis?
David T, no constitutional crisis. There would be a lot of violent rhetoric and social discord, but:
1 – The very act of succession to President Biden elides the constitutional crisis.
2 – The left is too gutless and disorganized to resort to violence if Obama is forced out and their agenda collapses.
3 – A Biden administration would not be a buoyant liberal administration. I think he’d step very carefully, name a celebrity veep (Hillary), and lay the groundwork for her 2012 run. That’s what to worry about.
So much talk about how Rep. Wilson “demeaned” the office of the President. How much lower could you go than to be on the Letterman show? The man was totally out of line in his comments about Sarah Palin and her daughters, and he never apologized. Why he’s still on the air, I’ll never know!
What’s that? He was following Obama’s example? Hmmm… now that you mention it, Obama never really apologized for his comments about the CT police and he’s on the air e-ve-ry day!
Barry Barack Hussein Soetoro Obama is a THIEF. That is his one sin that creates the present situation America is in with its Keystone Cops Congress and the Our Gang Presidency. He has stolen Truth from Americans with his incessant lies, devious tactics, and shadow government. He has stolen decency and honor from the office of The President with his behaviour at home and abroad. He has stolen the presidency with his illegal machinations and untraceable funding. He should be impeached, but Congress, the media, and much of America will eat its own vomit.
p.s. One military unit I know of has a caption on the Commander in Chief’s photo in their Ready Room:
RE-DEFEAT COMMUNISM 2012!
Sadly, many of those men will not live for that election, being hung out to die in Afghanistan by a CIC who will not supply them, reinforce them, or allow them to fight with wartime rules of engagement. President Obama is not a disaster. He is a crime. And a sin on the soul of America.
I don’t know what is wrong with all of you, personally the Obama show is my favorite. Did you see how well he did with his buddy Letterman? I laughed and laughed. I can’t wait until the show is syndicated. Nobody can be as funny as Obama. Leno eat your heart out, I’m sticking with the Obama show, the best comedy show on TV.

And of course by saying that I show myself as an evil person.

Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
Even in Britain we are noticing an increased tendency on the part of the Thought Police (can’t call them the left, we have a genuine left here) to pretend that all the problems society is suffering from are rooted in racism.
I suppose that is The Obama Effect.
His domestic and foreign policies are utopian nonsense, but I suspect Obama’s marketing problem is the closet racism in progressive government. The congressional Black Caucus still doesn’t allow whites, American Black Nationalists are still anti-semitic, and Jimmy Carter the goober farmer thinks a Palestinian (a former Roman name for a province in the Roman Empire) is a racial category. It’s curious how Obama extolls the theoretical efficiency of Swedish style state delivered health care just as Californian is forced to release thousands of convicts because of that progressive state’s failure to deliver federally approved standards of health care. The failure of every American state to deliver a speedy trial and execution within a generation’s coming of age certainly bodes ill for the promise of efficient state delivered injections of medicine. An Obama presidential role model, at least President Lincoln’s killers were capture, tried, and executed within 90 days in the era of saddles and candles, which speaks well of military tribunals. You know, if it were not for Jack Ruby, I bet Lee Harvey Oswald would still be alive today, extolling the virtues of brother Fidel and Uncle Ho.

4) Not using better marketing for the benefit of the rather large portion of the population easily distracted by shiny objects and 2 or 3 word catch phrases.
Dude, are you kidding? How many words are there in the catchphrase, “Yes we can”?
I thought obama was juat a marxist ..he does follow the marxist rule book and he has surrounded himself with marxists (do the trolls know he is marxist and by default they are supporting marxism)
..any way after seeing this blog I now see that the marxist part is small potatoes …he is a mental defect …a retard. well at least a narcissist. …and that is bad news for everyone.
http://www.faithfreedom.org/obama.html
…so from that stand point he is doing well for a retard.
here is a link for the people who think they can engage a troll with a positive result.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIFcnctnHsE&feature=related
basically that means the trolls are ideological retards.
If Obama had taken Pelosi to the woodshed during the stimulus debate and somehow aligned himself with the blue dogs he would be very popular and cruising to reelection. The tragedy of the Obama presidency is that the center is wide open for him, but he does not know how to get there.
Obama is the voice of Saruman –
“Those who listened unwarily to that voice could seldom report the words that they heard; and if they did, they wondered, for little power remained in them. Mostly they remembered that it was a delight to hear the voice speaking, all that it said seemed wise and reasonable, and desire awoke by swift agreement to seem wise and reasonable themselves. When others spoke they seemed harsh and uncouth by contrast; and if they gainsaid the voice, anger was kindled in the hearts of those under the spell…”
Obama was on television?
I must have had something better to do.
I always have something better to do.
BTW the Tolkien quote is from The Two Towers
Oh, I wish I could see a horror film of someone campaigning as in your article:
“Had Obama run a campaign promising”… to make this message really hit home.
“The president could turn this around by focusing on job creation, ceasing to snarl at critics, adopting a more centrist approach on domestic and foreign policy, and finding some areas of common agreement to pass through Congress (e.g., real education reform).”
Sorry, but it is way too late for that. The current occupant of the Oval Office has revealed himself as a far-left Liberal, if not a Marxist. He no longer has the credibility to portray himself as a centrist; he simply will not be believed.
“The president could turn this around by focusing on job creation, ceasing to snarl at critics, adopting a more centrist approach on domestic and foreign policy, and finding some areas of common agreement to pass through Congress (e.g., real education reform). But so long as Obama and his spinners remain convinced the real issue is not enough him or the mean conservatives or racism, there is little chance of that.”
The president couldn’t turn it around if he wanted to. When you are a completely false (as in made up) being as Barry Dunham is there is no way you’ll convince anybody of anything after they have learned who you are.
Joe Biden is now better qualified to lead than Barry is and Joe is less than desirable as leader to say the least.
No Barry will keep hating and get meaner than he already is. He is calling out his goons. Hopefully we can put them all in a supermax jail with their terrorist friends and they can continue to plot their delusional world takeover from there.
Of course Barry will keep trying to take credit for all that is good under the Sun and keep on blaming someone else for all the ill in the world and the truth will continue to lie in the street and be trampled over by the many in Washington.
McCain isn’t a conservative, and in a way I’m glad he lost.
If McCain had won, we’d still be fighting in Afganistan and the Liberals would be lound in their opposition (and by Liberals I include the MSM). We wouldn’t have passed that Spending Bill, but he may have tried something similar and the Liberals would be a vocal as Conservatives are. Unemployment would be high, and it would all be blamed on Bush and the continuation of his policies.
And in 2010, Democrats would gain more House and Senate seats. The campaigning for 2012 would be starting and in 2012, we’d lose more seats, have a liberal President, and have no power to stop anything. Regaining a majority in either branch of Congress would be an impossible task.
In 2012, we can elect a conservative President with conservative values. Change has begun.
Obama supposedly represented post-racial politics.
So now when his critics are called **racists**, they can declare:
Yes! I am for the HUMAN RACE! Why are you so stuck on the color of your own skin?

Hey, stop berating Bush!
The situation is worse than all that has been said above. Where is the leadership? Where is the evidence of Presidential dignity? The President is functioning as a cheer leader at a college football game. He is fronting for unnamed others. His conduct in the field of foreign affairs is fraught with danger for the people of the United States. As he has been complimented by Putin for his withdrawal of the missile shield in Poland and the Czech republic, so he will be complimented by Chavez, Ahmadinejad and others of the same stripe while they give the President hollow and empty, if not deceitful, promises. Does he love this country? Does he believe in it and the principles on which it was founded? He does not give evidence that he does!
More important, he wouldn’t know where to turn if he wanted to. He’s probably never heard of Milton Friedman after all that time at the U. of Chicago. The free market exists in a dimension invisible to him and all of his minions.
It’s just not possible, period. And because of that, the economy is going to continue to suck. That’s why I haven’t jumped on the gold thing YET. The economy is going to have to show some signs of life before gold is a good idea. And it hasn’t.
Doing a fine job proving himself a splendid blunder to the laicized masses. But when he loses, we lose, and I don’t like to lose, I’m American. Chavez is correct, though for the wrong reasons, he does need our “help,” because its our asses on the line. My advice is to put down the ‘Shock Doctrine’ & accept that global imperialism is how we roll. You cannot reinvent the USA, we don’t want to be rearranged, especially at the expense of everything we’ve ever known.
Why in the world does Obama’s quick fall from grace surprise anyone?? It was easy to see this coming a mile away. In addition to Ms. Rubin’s points, here are a couple more reasons Obama was doomed to fail:
It is clear that Obama is in over his head. He has never managed anything larger than a Senate staff, never held a job where he was accountable for anything of real consequence, and now he has suddenly been thrust into a position of real responsibility and has to actually make something work instead of give lectures. And he is finding out that, guess what, the Presidency is a tough job.
Almost since he appeared on the scene Obama has been the object of blind adoration in the liberal media. The MSM compared Obama to the nation’s greatest presidents, princes born in palaces and Jesus Christ before he even took office. The mainstream media hoisted Obama on its own petard, no human being could possibly meet such wildly over the top expectations. The fact that Obama was prejudged to be among the nation’s greatest presidents based on such appallingly poor qualifications is among the greatest frauds ever perpetuated on the American people.
Also, Obama was not about to govern from the center because he was never a centrist in the first place. His politics have always been associated with the extreme hard left, and there was bound to be a day of reckoning when this center-right country found out they have been had.
As much as I disdain this man and everything that he represents, his fatal flaw is his overt narcisism. Obama has never been able to make the transition between candidate and President. He has failed to become “Presidential” and become a leader to all Americans. Obama’s constant pandering and sloganeering has alienated more than half of this country.
While initial post-election polls indicated that the vast majority of Americans were willing to give the man a chance to govern and lead the nation, Obama ignored the mandate bestowed upon him as President. Instead, Obama has continued his tour of self-promotion and America defaming while ignoring the very real domestic and international threats. Americans are waking up to this buffoon and are expressing their discontent.
Here is the grossest incompetence of the Commander in Chief,
As Rich Lowry pointed out today General Petraeus, Admiral Mullen and General McCrystal all agree that the 40K troop surge is key for defeating the Taliban. There’s at least 85 years of command experience in that group.
The lefty advisors in the Whitehouse including Hillary and others are against a surge to defeat the insurgency and win in the Afghan theater. This is due soley to left base presure. Years of command experience 0!
Meanwhile, our soldiers, the best and most experienced on the planet, are left hanging because President “present” is dithering and saying we need to get the policy right. He set the policy in March when he hired McCrystal to dope out the strategy, for Pete’s sake! Now he is publicly doubting his general. Can you fathom that?!
Feckless, incompetent, politics comes first, weasal. Completely inexcusable immitation of LBJ, the bottom of the barrel President of the last 50 years. This President can live with his consciece because he may not have one when it comes to exposing our best citizens to death. Incompetence gets no grosser.I hope he can find his moral fiber and do the right thing, but I am not expecting it. What a fool! FDR would never make such a mistake.
Once the critical mass turn on Obama they will turn on those most responsible for propping him up during the election process. And the three entities most responsible for his rise to power are the lamestream media, academia, and Hollywood.
And once americans take a look at the newly proposed amnesty bill just released there will be blood in the streets.

“As in 2006, when the Electorate smacked-down the Rebublican Party for being too liberal with money and policies, they did it again this last election.”
That is the most desperate analysis of Republican failure I’ve heard yet. Desperate and transparent. Republicans got slapped down because of their incompetence, arrogance, and corruption . . . NOT because they weren’t conservative enough. Proof? Easy. Y’all weren’t saying that before the elections. Everything was just peachy when you had the power. Invade a sovereign nation without provocation? Sure, why not. Strong arm the CIA to gin up supporting evidence? Oh, yeah. Spend a billion on war without paying for it? You betcha. Another few hundred billion on pharma? OK. Out your own CIA agents? Sounds good. Hire the vice president’s company to do the contract work in the war he started? It’s only right. Have that company kill our soldiers through negligence and incompetence? Gee, that’s a darn shame, but yeah! Tell us wiretapping requires a search warrant when they were doing it without search warrants? And reading your e-mail? And entering your house with a “letter”, searching it, and then leave and never tell you? Sounds grand.
Now you’re worried? Where were you before? I’ll tell you where. Home on your couch watching reruns of Walker Texas Ranger. Now that you don’t have power, you suddenly get a conscience. “Hey, by golly, there’s stuff going on I don’t like, and I shouldn’t have to put up with that. I think I’ll strap on this semi-automatic rifle and go to the Obama rally because, goddamn it, it’s my right.” But you weren’t there when two women were ARRESTED at a Bush town hall for wearing anti-war T-shirts . . . T-SHIRTS!
We threw you out, and we’re going to keep you out. Just because you’re old and ignorant and white doesn’t give you the right to be stupid. We’re done with stupid. So get used to this whining, it’s all you’re gonna have for a long, long, long time.
Hey Vivo, how can we use the Left/Right terms correctly when the Left is always changing their call signs. “Don’t call me a liberal, I am a “progressive”. What a load! Go put on your Che T-shirt, smoke a joint, and dream about your Obama utopia.
Calling the GOP the party of No, when from 2000 to 2008, that is ALL the Democrats said. They had no plans for handling terrorists, they had no ideas for rebuilding the economy after 9/11. Remember, when Bush took over, the dot.com crash had already started, ENRON was already set to implode, and then the financial industry was braught to its knees on that horrible day in September. Despite all this, tell me what happened to the economy by 2003. It was booming!! How quickly you forget.

Please permit me to take you back in time some forty seven years.
A televised Presidential press conference is in progress.
Answers to a lot of serious Presidential questions are for the most part honest and straightforward, but there’s a tone in the room very unlike Obama’s speechy press conferences. People seem to be enjoying themselves, even the President.
Next question: “Mr. Kennedy, what’s your favorite song?” (laughter throughout the room)
The President: “I’ve got to say I’m quite partial to, ‘Hail to the Chief’.”
Now I’d like to address Jennifer Rubin:
Jennifer, I think you’re on target when you point out Obama’s Cardinal Errors.
Permit me to add what probably is more in the area of a character flaw. Which does Obama no good.
Except for speech time when Obama is most magnificent, Barack Obama is not especially likable. He’s relatively charmless. Maybe most daunting; he possesses no sense of humor. None. Nada. Zilch.
Remember the last off the cuff joke he tried to make? The first day in office he mocked Nancy Reagen and then scurried off in a tizzy trying to figure out how to apologize for it?
The guy’s a social stiff. As gauche as Yentl, the movie, was boring.
And lately I’ve sensed Obama’s becoming slightly gun shy; scared that one of his slave reporters is going to slip and actually ask him a difficult question.
Like for instance.
“Mr. President, you say the CIA investigation will go on even though seven former CIA chiefs wrote you a letter recommending you stop it. You say the investigation will continue because no one’s above the law.
Then, Mr. President, how do you justify dropping the prosecution of the voter intimidating Black Panthers like a hot potato? Hiring tax cheats, like the head of the IRS? Refusing to discuss the Acorn corruption scandal? Responding with anger and mindless, factless stupidity when a Harvard buddy, “Open the door Henry Gates” is correctly and lawfully arrested?”
Mr. President, let me tell you why your numbers are falling like a blind roofer. It’s because you’re a hypocrite. You have one set of rules for yourself and your Rezkoian political buddies, and another set of rules for the rest of us.
We’re going into the painful ninth month of this abortion of a Presidency, and more and more, President Obama, you’re getting that deer in the headlights look. And if I, a lowly commenter, see it, the President of Russia can see it. Which I see as dangerous.
Personally, Barack, I think you’re about sixty days or one serious international crisis away from cracking like a soldier who’s seen too much combat.I fear you’re losing your grip on reality just enough so the sensitive enemy eye detects it.
I believe this will happen because I don’t believe you have a moral compass that’s in any way congruent with the vast majority of the American people. It’s like you’re always swimming against the tide. Running up a down staircase. Trying to blow out one of those trick birthday candles.
I believe you’d be much more comfortable, Mr. President, in a country that stifles free speech, that doesn’t have a constitution, that’s ruled by men, not laws.
In the United States, Mr. President, I believe you’re a square peg in a round hole. An elevator that doesn’t stop on every floor. One card short of a full deck.
Mister President, I seriously fear in the none too distant future, you’ll wake up in the middle of the night sweating profusely; you’ll turn on the light, call in your secret service detail, walk them to the Presidential refrigerator, (the little one in the Obama bedroom), open it and demand they tell you what they see.
They’ll follow orders. Look all around and answer, cheese, milk, Diet Coke, bread, sliced turkey, etc., etc.
Then, Mr. President, I can see you looking directly into the eye of the lead secret service agent.
Like almost make a mental lunge at the man, the one who just finished speaking.
Mr. President, I can hear you saying,”but where are my strawberries?”
To Samizdat: No — you and the other right wing numbnuts are badly confused yet again. Afghanistan is yet another golden rain legacy of Bush: his utterly BS Iraq nonsense ended up wasting enormous resources and burning out most people’s passion for going after the people actually responsible for 9/11, as well as their allies and protectors. After 6 1/2 years of Iraq, going after the only legitimate post-9/11 targets, the al-Qaeda bases in Afghanistan, their Taliban allies, and of course bin Laden, has become a political issue rather than a military one. What the military people are telling Obama in so many words is that Iraq was/is a massive failure in terms of Bush’s “War on Terror” and that all that destruction and all those American and Iraqi civilian death went for naught as the real terror threat reorganized and grew elsewhere. So Obama is now in the lose-lose position of having to do what should have been done properly 8 years ago: either really escalate a nasty war that will turn most of the people against him if victory is not achieved quickly, and which will be a tacit admission of how Iraq was a pointless failure; or else maintain the course and engage in a more protracted/mostly covert war of attrition that will also turn most of the public against him unless it results in something like the capturing or killing of bin Laden.
You guys are in serious denial about the scope and size of the problems Bush bequeathed Obama. That might be because, as I suspect, most of you fools voted for Bush not once but twice, which essentially means that you generally have no idea whatsoever about what’s going on the world and why things have happened the way they did. Infinitus est numerus stultorum.

“Hey Vivo, how can we use the Left/Right terms correctly when the Left is always changing their call signs. “Don’t call me a liberal, I am a “progressive”.”
I’m referring to people who call anyone they disagree with a liberal, leftist, communist, socialist, Nazi, fascist, etc. It never makes sense. Just like when I call you a conservative, right-wing, demagogue, etc. You get lumped into groups that may have some similarities with your thoughts, but your never 100% of something. So it becomes name-calling.
I have what you call ‘liberal’ ideas but my beliefs are a mixture of common sense and pragmatism. But when you hear people like Limbo, O’Reilly, Beck, Colter, Palin and the ones that parrot them, the insanity is very clear.
“Calling the GOP the party of No, when from 2000 to 2008, that is ALL the Democrats said. They had no plans for handling terrorists,”
The country was united after 9/11 and expected the administration to be in a leadership and command position. But instead of looking for terrorists, they invaded a rogue country with no terrorists. Can it get dumber than that?
“they had no ideas for rebuilding the economy after 9/11.”
The economy wasn’t crashing after 9/11 (???)
“Remember, when Bush took over, the dot.com crash had already started, ENRON was already set to implode, and then the financial industry was braught to its knees on that horrible day in September. Despite all this, tell me what happened to the economy by 2003. It was booming!! How quickly you forget.”
Because???
The Republican principles of free market were prostituted by lack of legislation to curb banks into non-bank business, like the AIG, Lehman failure, 0% down loans, jumbo payments, no income verification, creating the housing bubble that hasn’t gone away. Many made millions (probably mostly Republicans) and millions lost billions. Lots of foreign banks got stuck with toxic assets.
How quickly you forget . . .

I agree, as others have pointed out, that Obama not only has no executive experience – or ability – and also lacks the intellectual capacity to develop viable and pragmatic policies and programs.
He is intellectually ignorant and shallow – and uninterested in knowledge of economics, programs, policies. He is a pathological narcissist and his focus is limited to himself. He is the robotic Salesman for a radical cabal of Democrats who have taken over the Democratic Party with the agenda of destroying the capitalist and democratic infrastructure of the US, to replace it with a socialist authoritarianism.
He lies, constantly, because he has no ability to differentiate between fact and fiction. He tells you what he wants you to think..or what he thinks you want to hear. If you ask for the truth and he rejects that truth, i.e., his long alliance with ACORN, he’ll belittle both that truth – and you for wanting it.
I don’t think that Americans have ever been confronted with such a pathologically disturbed individual as leader, and many are still trying to give him the ‘benefit of the doubt’.
As for the Democratic Party, they are faced with the radicalcabal that have taken over the party, and the fact that their puppet Salesman is a deeply disturbed person.
With regard to Bush and Iraq, it was a correct action. It reognized that the cause of Islamic fascism was the lack of democracy in the Middle East – which have been trying to retain a tribal political mode. A tribal political mode is dysfunctional in an industrial economy and multimillion size population. The ME states were, using oil money, repressing their people and trying to retain the authoritarianism of tribalism. This is the root cause of Islamic fascism. Enabling democracy to develop in the ME is the basic and absolutely correct strategy to stop Islamic fascism. Bush was absolutely correct.
The liberals/Democrats that comment here, display excellent contrast to the Conservative posts; And reinforce and validate the Conservative view point.
Thanks; and keep up the good work, liberals!
“The Republican principles of free market were prostituted by lack of legislation to curb banks into non-bank business..” – vivo(94).
Oh you mean the CRA? Pushed heavily by Dems the last three decades and championed by the likes of Obama, Cuamo and the Clintons in the nineties and protracted by Dodd, Frank and Schumer in the naughts. The CRA may not encompass all the machinations involved in the recent crash but there’s no doubting it encouraged, enabled and in several cases forced normally prudent banks to form subsidiary institutions to loan to high risk applicants, loans which Clinton securitized under Mae & Mac with his CRA reforms of the 90′s.
If anyone has a serious case of amnesia it’s the Dems. ACORN? Who, what, I know nothing about their Federal funding.. (FFS!!)
Who prospered most from the crisis is contentious call, but I’ll bet my last dollar that Chuckie Schumer’s lackeys on Wall St (many who have received billion dollar federal bail outs and bonuses) who heavily donated to Obama’s massive campaign finances, and were flipping properties monthly in Florida, NY, Chicago and West Coast during the housing boom are better positioned than most today.
With respect to the written editorial, Obama’s cardinal sins are many, and his penchant for feigning and lying are there for all to see. City Hall must be mighty proud of their protege. Chicago style intimidation and Pay to play has gone national.
Yea; Obama’s mettle comforts the foolish.
What puzzles me is; Why are these people so hell bent on destroying the very establishment that enabled them to attain their current status? Are they expecting 70 virgins, or what?
Anyone else catch Obama’s trash America speech at the UN (Useless Nations) today? He received a rousing applause from the hate America crowd of UN despots. And then afterwards the terrorist tyrant Gaddafi gave a 90 minute rant, and asked that Obama be president for life. Fidel Castro made similar comments yesterday.
I am living in a Bizzaro world.
Gaddafi’s praise of Obama is not something to cheer about; in fact, it just shows the totalitarian nature of President Obama & his administration without his own recycled speech–bashing America as usual–at the United Nations. The facts remains President Obama, his mysterious czars (the Shadow Government), & his other administration officials are Communists at heart who have more in common with the world’s 3rd world dictators such as Gaddafi, Castro of Cuba, Kim Jong Il of North Korea, & the oppressive regime of China. Gaddafi’s words will come to haunt Obama given both men believe in the same thing, but is antithetical to America’s foundation.
The cardinal error was not Obama’s .It was his father’s selfishness in not wearing a condom before he did his granola-brained Ho,that created the problem.
Hey BC if capturing bin Laden was such an easy task why hasn’t Obama caught him in the last 9 months?
Too many people just don’t understand Afghanistan and the challenges of fighting a war there. Going against AQ and the Taliban there for the last 8 years would have been a disaster with body counts much higher than we’ve seen. In fact the idiots in Washington are now fighting the war there like Vietnam with politics taking precedent over the lives and safety of our soldiers.
Also people (Bush & Co included) don’t understand the people and psychology of the Middle East and Arabs. Constitutionalism & democracy don’t work in the Middle East and the Arabized regions. They either have a tribal autonomy or a central tyranny. Iraq will probably devolve into another tyranny, though I hope it doesn’t, or civil war. It would be a wonderful thing if “democracy” takes hold in Iraq.
#103 Scott,Don’t you know? Obama has appointed bin Laden, as his new Air lines czar,in charge of selecting pilots in accordance with affirmative action guidelines.(not enough pilots of middle eastern descent). You don’t arrest cabinet officials.
What does everyone expect? We elected a man with no birth certificate, not that I am a truther, but come on! Did anyone think perhaps the fact he wouldn’t allow us even to see his educational records might be concerning. He has almost no employment record to speak of, no experience other than community organizer, whatever that is, to recommend him to govern the greatest country in the world. We need to start finding out some facts where Obama is concerned and also find out facts about the people running all the programs in our government that are failing and needing to be bailed out. It is time for the grownups to have some courage and find out why and what to do about it other than throw our money at it.
Good advice but like a lot of good advice it’s not likely to be used. I predict that this time next year where he’s now will look pretty good. Then, after next year’s election he will not have a strong voice in much of anything. Lots of good image and lots of ego, but not much experience. It’s not working. If people had looked at him rationally last year he never would have cleared the first rounds of primaries.
