[...] Obama The Trophy Wife, written by Elizabeth Scalia and published at Pajamas Media, is an insightful and somewhat startling look at the Democrat candidate for president candidate and our moth-to-the-flame-fascination with the inexperienced senator from Illinois. A trophy wife, of course, is the younger, less shopworn, unlined, doe-eyed, and sometimes opportunistic woman some middle-aged men marry upon achieving the measure of worldly success that puts them in more “elite” company. Mixing with a “higher caliber” of people, such men know what they wish to present to the world: energy, a tuned-in trendiness, a certain sleekness of manner, and above all, youth! If they can’t quite project all of that with their comb-overs, their sagging jowls, and their reading glasses, why, a pretty young wife and pretty young children are just the accessories to help the illusion along.
It might be worthwhile to remember, according to realclearpolitics.com, that in the final popular vote in the primaries, Obama only got .1 percent more votes than Hillary. One-tenth of a percent. So it seems a bit disingenuous to proclaim Obama's great victory, and it seems just ridiculous to believe that the people who supported Hillary are all disgruntled women. I won't vote for McCain, but I just cannot vote for Obama. I have actually resigned from the Dean National Party. I am hoping a third party candidate who I can support shows up.

This is your rationality speaking. The beautiful words filling this page just do not quite cover the hypocrisy that lurks beneath. If I recall correctly, as many who posted before have, McCain owns a trophy wife. If I were to read the middle of this "hypothesis" I would honestly think that I was reading a story about Cindy. Oh well.

to s sommers:
You are totally wrong when you say a "real woman" would dump a husband who cheats. I said the same thing when I was young, but I've lived long enough to know that it takes much more strength to hang in and work things out. It strengthens your character, and that spills out into everything you do. Maybe some day you'll realize that forgiveness builds character. I hope you don't have to learn it the hard way.

When the first paragraph of a story is so far from reality or the truth of a situation I do not continue to read. That is the case with this article. Perhaps there are some who are reacting as the writer has suggested, but for most of the women I talk to that is simply not the case--nor is it for the men who supported Sen. Clinton. We are angry, yes, because we feel the better candidate was pushed out of the race by some very devious methods. We are not voting for Obama because he is inadequate, unprepared, and a master politician whose flip-flops are legendary! We do not feel he is equipped to lead our nation at this time. The problems are too deep and too serious.
Sad to say, had he worked in the government till he had some deeper/broader understanding of the issues--in other words, "done his homework"-- I might have supported him. I supported T. Kennedy, Jesse Jackson, etc. But OBAMA IS NOT READY.

That's a load of crap, and has been debunked numerous times.

Thanks for the article. It communicates a very significant point, but I would say, a bit unwittingly. I was for JFK as a youngster. He was very far right of what the Democrats are today. But I learned even as a kid that if you elect a person perceived to be young and inexperienced in a very dangerous geopolitical situation, he will be purposely tested by the opposition, the existence of which cannot be safely denied. Kennedy was FAR more experienced and knowledgeable than Obama. Whether JFK was too "inexperienced" for the presidency of that time was a moot point. But I never, ever thought JFK was WEAK. Friends..we have an extremely serious problem here, because not only is the college kids' favorite Obama inexperienced, his behavior shows him to be WEAK. This prompted Krauthammer to write the article about whether we should expect a dual presidency(like the Clintons) with the Obamas, which I fear would be the case.. As far as I am concerned Obama is a WEAK metrosexual, and our enemies already know that. Such weakness causes overreaction which is further proof of weakness. Aside from the women who are unhappy, my hope is the men will smell this problem and vote McCain. It is a much bigger problem than any single important policy issue.
