Obama Lets Media Get Under His Thin Skin

The coverage of him is overwhelmingly positive — and still he complains?

To make it up to the media, President Obama came down to visit the White House press corps and didn’t get a warm reception on either side. So what’s a guy to do? If President Obama doesn’t like the way the media is treating him, maybe he should talk to former President Bush. The coverage of Obama is overwhelmingly positive and even in that context he complains. On top of that Robert Gibbs is so inept, he makes Scott McClellan look like Mike McCurry of the Clinton era — and that takes some doing.

Finally, Obama’s feeble attempt to attack talk radio and his calling out Rush Limbaugh by name really shows it’s getting to him. Presidents are above that kind of fray and it comes with the job. He’s had two years of adulation; he’s got to get ready for the fall. Clearly he wants to be liked. He’s like Clinton in that way: a guy growing up without a father looks to the adulation to fill the gap. But once you get into the Oval Office, all that stuff has to go by the wayside and you have to work for the people. It’s not talk any more; it’s action.

So what’s my advice to President Obama? I would tell him, “Mr. President, you are going to make people angry no matter what you do so do the right thing. You won by not much more of a margin than President Bush did in 2004 and it won’t be enough to be reelected in 2012. Forget about making the special interests on the left happy; they are never happy. You won and they are still not happy. Abandon the stimulus package, extend the Bush tax cuts, cut capital gains taxes, and make government accountable and you’ll win the first round. Oh, and don’t watch television or listen to the radio, unless it’s me or Rush Limbaugh.”

If Mr. Obama is fed up with his coverage now and thinks folks aren’t being fair, he’s on the way to a Nixon-like enemies list and that will just lead to sitting alone in the Oval Office swearing at people and that’s not his style, or is it? The point seems to be lost on him that not everyone is going to like him, so he needs to be confident in his own vision to get it done even if it makes Nancy Pelosi frown. And that’s saying something.

We in the media in the loyal opposition wing of opinion policy and analysis are going to hold Obama accountable even if soon-to-be Senate candidate and NBC anchor Chris “I’ve Got a Thrill Up My Leg” Matthews won’t do it. Mr. Obama, they are doing you the greatest disservice, telling the folks and you that everything you do is golden. No one is that good and at the pinnacle of the pyramid of power in the world, it’s easy to fall off if you don’t have your bearings.

    Well, boo freakin’ HOO.

My husband and I are trying to keep afloat 5 homes we own besides our own and paying UP the mortgage rates on some of them upwards of 500 dollars. Nobody has “Swooped in” to save us. We are on our own and perhaps our renters don’t even have a CLUE as to how much we are sacrificing right now but boyyyyy oh boy are we.

Barack’s ego mania is showing. He’s losing his “Hope N change” and “Throw childish things aside” temper. He’s becoming exactly what we all feared, “Inept and incompetent” for the office.

The Barry-bots worshipped empty rhetoric sung in lullaby trans-like tones.

Barry’s interruptive and sometimes halting and herky-jerky tone and intonation reminds me of people who use rote and rhythm to overcome speech impediments. Think “John Wayne” and you’ll get my meaning.

The “uh er uh uh uh” are typical of people with stutter impediments in their linguistical speech.

Obama is a kid still thinking he can be “KING”…just as he wrote “KING OBAMA” as a teen. He’s delusional and he’s good at charismatically sucking people into his own bull of grandeur.

Will anyone wake up enough to see that King Obama is buck nekked, glistening man boobs and all?

Nevermind the Muslim behind the Christian curtain.

Ms. Zoller’s benevolence is commendable, but not in political journalism, and certainly not in psychologizing about motives like our President’s upbringing; that is non-objective.

Based on President Obama’s statements and actions thus far, I think his motive is strategic, not psychological.

Note that he’s calling for waves of the FDR/Bush type nationalizations – banks, pay freezes, tariffs, pork, bailouts, “green” industry favoritism, mandatory “community” service. These are national socialist – i.e., fascist – proposals.

These are not the proposals of a man who respects others’ rights to voluntarily choose what’s best for them. These are the proposals of a bully who craves power over others’ lives because he’s incapable of dealing with others as equals and appealing to their un-coerced judgment – like producers and traders do in free markets.

Note also that socialism is armed robbery of innocent victims, who eventually have nothing left to be looted – including even the freedom produce more. And in the irrational, post-Enlightenment era, as societies again approach that level of impoverishment, they begin flirting with demagogues – like Mr. Obama, and marching in the streets – like in Europe right now. And then the mild demagogues quickly lose those who are most consistently dictatorial – like Lenin, Franco, Mussolini, Hitler, Castro.

If Mr. Obama doesn’t already know this aspect of history, he’s sure acting like he does. Already, he’s pre-selecting planted reporters’ questions and ridiculing critical talk show hosts!

Ms. Zoller would do well to remember that the first thing dictatorships always do is silence dissent in the name of saving us from crisis. As Mr. Obama’s chief of staff opportunistically put it recently, “A crisis is a terrible thing to waste.”

So if Mr. Obama’s looting *actions* are not challenged and ridiculed by the standard of protecting individual rights, then more extensive media censorship (beyond McCain Feingold) comes next. Then we get banned books, censored web, and scapegoats like the rich or the Jews. Then the gulag for anyone who doesn’t shut up and submit. That’s just the formula – time after time, country after country.

Now is not the time for journalists to be benevolent. Now we need vigilance, reason and courage.

  3. 3. Marc Malone

Well, I don’t blame him for his reaction at all. I mean, when one’s own propoganda wing gives you a bit of a hard time, whom can you trust?

  4. 4. progressoverpeace

so he needs to be confident in his own vision

That’s a tall order. His vision is so … to put it in the new Precedential vernacular, “screwed up“, that no one could be asked to have confidence in it. He is irretrievably stuck with a lack of confidence, because his ideas are just that ridiculous. I just hope he doesn’t wreck the ship of state while he’s being allowed to play captain – with a crew in Congress that comes right of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. Very dangerous waters ahead.

And that was not a typo, in case anyone was wondering.

  5. 5. Kirk Cordell

Martha Clinton Zoller should know all about being thin skinned. Every time one of her lies or plagiarisms is exposed she immediately attacks the accuser. She doesn’t have any right to comment on anyones “speech impediments. She’s worse than Obama with her “ers, uhs, and ums.” Like the Clintons, Martha tends to accuse people of the very things she does herself. She made fun of John Kerry’s ” I went to Viet Nam” but, she herself has said “I’ve been to Iraq” no less than 1200 hundred times in the last 3 years. If Pajamas Media wants to maintain any credibility they will get rid of this plagiarist.

  6. 6. Professor Guvinoff

Sad spectacle. We are seeing how the mindless behavior of a manipulative press can conspire to push a democracy into self-injury.

When everything is about image, message, and oratory stunts, fairy tales carry more weight than logic, and wishful thinking trumps rational decisions, including ballot casting decisions. The war of our time refuses to follow the rhythm of drive-in food, and our economic woes are almost as inviting of denial as the cruelty and the determination of the jihadists.

So what happens? We elect a candidate who appeals to our collective fantasies instead of one capable of lead in us through challenging times. Try friendliness towards the despots even if you have to sacrifice your security for it, bannish partisanship at the cost of eliminating debate, rush into utopian impulses capable of further burdening the national economy under the pretense of “fixing” it, as if governments possessed this kind of magical powers?

Obama’s existential crisis is more than the bad experience of just one man, it is perilous to the rest of us as well. Let’s not elect a charming Harvard-sounding teenager the next time!

  7. 7. David Thomson

Barack Obama is not to close to being ready for prime time. He is our affirmative action president. Obama has realized since his early years that he can take full advantage of white guilt. This nonsense helped him to get elected—but it is starting to wear thin. It is hard to believe that it has only been a little more then two week since the inauguration. It’s safe to say that the Obama era is rapidly turning into a perceived mess. The situation is also unlikely to improve. Our newly elected national leader is a shallow and poorly read man who simply will not have enough time to get his act together. May God help us. We are in deep trouble.

  8. 8. David Thomson

    “Let’s not elect a charming Harvard-sounding teenager…”

Barack Obama’s Harvard University connections also had much to do with getting him elected. Far too many people exaggerate the importance of earning a law degree from this famous educational institution. They wrongly conclude that the recipient automatically becomes another John Adams. Nothing could be further from the truth. Obama’s law degree simply means that he is probably able to easily pass a state law examination—and that’s it. There is no guarantee whatsoever that the individual is knowledgeable about foreign policy, economics, or the other major issues of the day.

    Obama reminds me of no one so much as James taggart, the younger brother of Dagny Taggart in Ayn Rand’s novel “Atlas Shrugged”. An arrogant, egotistical “man-child” with very little sense of self, he was constantly demanding “stroking” from those around him, even while seeking power and prestige at others’ expense to make him feel good about himself. His entire world view was summed up in this, spoken to his sister;

“I want to be president of a railroad. I want it. Why can’t I have it? Why should you always have what you want, and not me? It’s your responsibility to give me what I want!”

What James Taggart in fiction, and President Obama in real life, does not grasp is that wanting power is not enough; it must be earned. One must also have the knowledge, experience, and self-control- in other words, the wisdom- to wield it responsibly, and with restraint. “Because I want to” is never a good enough reason for a President to do anything. “Just because” doesn’t cut it at that level.

In the novel, Taggart ended up as little more than the errand boy for a group of consciousless, utterly amoral would-be dictators who, in the end, proved no wiser than he. Considering the people Obama has surrounded himself with, and the overtures he has made to foreign powers of at best questionable reliability and friendliness, I see him ending up exactly the same way.

I agree with the author, Obama is thin skinned and seems to believe everything is all about him. He never knows when to get off stage. This is going to be a bumpy ride for him and for the country. His first real job isn’t going so well.

Not only are we seeing his thin skin, we are witnessing a very ugly person behind it. With all the threats he’s making, he might as well be standing in the bank lobby wearing a mask and waving a baseball bat.

I fully expect to see him walk out with a parrot on his shoulder any moment.

That’s what happens when a generation of celebrity obsessed, spoiled, character-lightweights elect a president because he’s “cool”. He can’t take the heat. He’s never had to.

I find the mention of Nixon’s enemies list interesting. I’ve been reading speculation here and there about whether Obama will commit a crime to cover up some monumental act of stupidity, incompetence, negligence, or perhaps another crime. I think it’s legitimate to ask whether he’ll be around for four years.

This peacock has never experienced the a–chewing a new boss gives, when you screw up. What do we expect from someone who has never held a real job. He has gone from the mosque to Harvard to working in ‘public service’, to being anointed by Oprah.
45 years ago, I was given the best advice of my life. Undersell yourself, and over perform.

  21. 21. Cog99

I’m heartened by the press corps actually asking questions. Keep firing away at him. Obambi and his staff need to learn they were elected NOT crowned. A good start back to reality would be to have Nancy Pelosi replaced. Double bonus points if Harry Reid goes away as well.

  22. And “His Emptiness” is getting tired of the bickering in Congress! Is that funny or what? Had he spent any time in Congress, he’d know that’s what goes on there every day.
Wouldn’t it be nice if he got angry enough to quit?

Cable chatter is now the new dig on free speech. You see I don’t think that the MSM is free speech, it has been bought and paid for by the one.

Look at the last 10 years in VZLA. Obama is a fledgling Chavez. Just look at the structural similarites in programs and methods. Instead of petro dollars Obama has tax dollars.

The cable chatter will be silenced. When the FCC does not renew your charter. ( Globovision )

It is smart of him to push back. Bush should have done the same.

Delia: five homes! That makes you . . . what’s the word . . . elite! Are you sure it’s five? We’ve seen how hard it can be to remember such things. Tell you what, have your staff check on that and get back to us. In the meantime, I’d ask for a bailout. And congratulations for getting the word “boy” in so early in the string . . . twice in the first paragraph! Talk about the sugar calling the cracker white. Wow!

Barry got my attention in his first debate on TV with McCain. BHO could barely hold himself back from jumping in and interrupting McCain when something negative was being said about him. Watch that debate. He is obviously chafing to get his next counterpoint in, so much so that you will see him make gestures to the mediator like he wants to cut in. I told myself right then that I doubted his temperament. He does not yet have what it takes to endure the spotlight of criticism and negativity and probing questions about his decisions. He has been coddled by the media and given a pass. When that pass is revoked by part of the media, it will not be pretty. There is a lot of talk about conservatives trying to set an example to the dems by not being as scathing and mean as many of them have been towards GWB and his administration. Well, you have people now at the throttle who I genuinely believe don’t care what you think. They are going to go after what they want and they would very much like you to shut up if you disagree. Look at the campaign shenanigans run by BHO’s staff to shut people off from their First Amendment rights. It didn’t stop when the campaign ended because the Fairness Doctrine is rearing its head and BHO has already attacked Rush Limbaugh rhetorically. Does anyone remember Bush stooping to slam any dissenting voices personally?(Internet fantasies and misinformation don’t count). WAKE UP AMERICA! I feel like we all need a shower to wash off the propaganda.

Obama’s character deficiency where pretty obvious to anyone who wasn’t drunk on ‘hopey-changey’ during the campaign.

    Definition
Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance and a deep need for admiration. They believe that they’re superior to others and have little regard for other people’s feelings. But behind this mask of ultra-confidence lies a fragile self-esteem, vulnerable to the slightest criticism.

Narcissistic personality disorder is one of several types of personality disorders. Personality disorders are conditions in which people have traits that cause them to feel and behave in socially distressing ways, limiting their ability to function in relationships and in other areas of their life, such as work or school. In particular, narcissistic personality disorder is characterized by dramatic, emotional behavior, in the same category as histrionic, antisocial and borderline personality disorders. Narcissistic personality disorder treatment is centered around psychotherapy.

He tried to avoid being seen as an “angry black man” all throughout his campaign, but, I think last night’s “campaign” speech was pretty angry, and ugly.

I don’t like this man. I’m black, and I voted for him because, like most blacks, I’ve voted Democrat all my life. But, the more I see of him, the more I feel like the man I saw a year ago who beat Clinton on Super Tuesday doesn’t really exist. Did he really expect that Republicans were just going to roll over and vote for everything he wants, just because he won, and then invited them over to the WH for a fancy reception? I guess so. This makes me wonder how he’s going to treat the Arab countries, once it becomes clear that he can’t sweet talk them into doing whatever it is that he wants.

  41. 41. tanarg

If people would continue to ask him real questions, we might get somewhere. A few examples are: (1) What is your legal name? (2) Why did Nancy Pelosi certify to the 50 states individually that you were constitutionally eligible to hold the office of president when that fact has not been verified by anyone else? That is, if *she* saw your original birth certificate, why won’t you show it to the rest of the world? (3) Do you really think an electronic picture of a summary of your birth certificate (what you posted on the Web) can be authenticated by anyone?

This author makes so many unsubstantiated assumptions that it’s hard to take any of her arguments seriously.

You wingnuts need to make up your minds regarding whether you believe Obama is a steamrolling Chicago thug or a priveleged, thin-skinned “boy”. You need some consistency in your message.

For example, I consistently called Bush a lying, illiterate, silver spoon holding, economy detroying, military service dodging, war-mongering, Justice-tampering, torture-loving cretin who was not fit to lick the boots of the lowest ranking officer in our Armed Forces.

Because my mesage is consistent, this not only makes it easier to defend, but it makes it so that people are more likely to believe me.

  45. 45. Laura

Whether you liked President Bush or not, one thing stood out and that was he certainly had a thick skin AND a sense of humour. He did not care what his approval rating was. He did what he thought was right for the American people and stood by those principles. Isn’t that a huge part of being an adult?

I agree completely. They need to raise the voting age to 21. I don’t care who you are, an 18 year old is nothing more than an experienced child. All they know is high school world and living under the care of someone else. I believe they need to be out of the high school world for at least a few years and experience real life before they should be able to vote. Don’t even try to attack me for the ones that are out on their asses because their parents threw them out or the ones that knocked up someone/became knocked up at a young age…that doesn’t count…that only puts an exclamation point behind immature and naive.

Housing sales are turning around as of December. Banks are starting to lend money again. A majority of Americans are starting to question why we need a stimulus bill now, especially one that doesn’t exactly stimulate anything, and if Obama can’t get this passed soon, it’s not going to pass at all and all the Dem dreams of the last 40 years will crash and burn.

Steve P, the Chicago school of politics has more to do with pandering and crooked dealing than thuggery. Blagojevich, for example, is no tough guy. Neither is Daley. There is nothing inconsistent about accusing someone of being a narcissist and a crooked machine politician. Bush had his flaws too, personally and on policy. Most troublingly he was not a fiscal conservative. His foolish bank bail outs are a chief example. McCain would have been no better. Your guy will go even further down the wrong path. I don’t care at all about him personally. It is his politics that are misguided and destructive.

Ask those who were there.) Bush also graduated from Harvard. So you are simply factually challenged!

    Ursa Major & Patterson,

Perhaps we should go a step further and require voters to not only be 21 years of age, but be federal taxpayers. That requirement alone would probably disqualify the majority of Obama voters, given that IRS data reveals approximately 40% of adult Americans pay no income taxes.

  64. 64. tanstaafl

    A dead giveaway, seeing that.

If someone lies about your record or misrepresent your statements, you would be an idiot not to try and jump in and correct that lie immediately. And that’s what McCain did. He lied. Throughout the whole debate. When he wasn’t lying, he was grumbling and making sour faces like a grumpy old man in dire need of a nap.

And Obama tucked him in and put him to sleep! Boo-Yah!!

GHB was an officer in our Armed Forces. Are you demeaning those Guardsmen and Reservists who don’t get deployed during a conflict? Is a soldier a soldier? One cannot be a soldier and a draft-dodger in the same military, can one? We do need to keep some of the men and women stateside, you know. Yet I know it’s a losing argument, as Bush Sr., Bob Dole, and John McCain are heroes with quite a few decorations and they were discounted by many in the lib establishment.

You mean like the guy who says he’d take public funding during the campaign and then changes his mind once he figured out he’d make more money by reversing his position. Or the guy who … [hundreds of examples follow]

    … illiterate …

Well, Obama DID write two books. About himself. I guess having someone else ghost-write your books is equivalent to being literate. Then again, Obama did graduate from Harvard. Oh wait, so did Bush, with better grades than Kerry or Gore. And maybe Obama (he won’t release his grades).

    … silver spoon holding …

Like John Kerry, who had a net worth approaching $800 billion in 2004? You voted for him, didn’t you?

    … economy detroying …

Nothing a trillion dollars spent on boondoggles can’t fix. Also, it was the Democrats who demanded that people who couldn’t pay their mortgage receive mortgages (social justice and all that). I’d say that plays a rather large role in our ‘destroyed’ economy (whatever that is).

    … military service dodging …

When did we start talking about Bill Clinton? Also, can you please document Obama’s military experience? Thanks?

    … war-mongering …

The policy of regime change re:Iraq was formally established during the Clinton Administration.

    … Justice-tampering …

You mean like Clinton firing ALL attorneys general for political purposes? Also, give Obama some time. He hasn’t been in office for even three weeks. Using the Justice Department to shut down political opposition and criticism is in the works. That is why Eric Holder was selected. (It sure ain’t because of his ethics …)

    … torture-loving cretin …

Yeah right. Thus far the Obama administration plans on keeping extraordinary renditions. Oh well, what are facts in the face of such devastating slogans and assertions? I guess he will shut down Guantanamo, even though no torturing was ever done at Guantanamo.

… who was not fit to lick the boots of the lowest ranking officer in our Armed Forces.

Ah, but a community organizer Dear Leader who has never been in the military clearly does? The same guy who blew off visiting wounded soldiers in Germany to play a little basketball? The same guy who for the first time since WWII blows off an inaugural ball for Medal of Honor winners?

Yeah, what a hero to our military services.

And what a sloganeering fool you are for offering up such drivel.

The White House is not a training ground. Unfortunately, we have elected a man with no expereince, credentials, credibility or substance. We elected him because of his “empty rhetoric” and skin color rather than his wisdom, honor, ethics and leadership abilities.

Given his first two weeks, there won’t be much left of America at the end of his term. He is a “messiah” a star like Paris Hilton….all show, no go. He preens and preaches, he does not bring gravitas or respect to the office. He is a follower and all of his cabinet selections are tainted, combative and totally opposite of his campaign promises. We have an “Emperor with no clothes”. It is only going to get worse. Maybe we will get lucky and he will resign.

Bush so enjoyed flying fighter jets that he fulfilled the minimum total flight hours requirement of 300 hours (50 per year) in the first 3 years of his six year stint with TANG. He did not leave early but flew only 50 hours each of his last two years. He volunteered to serve in Vietnam.

Later in life Dubya, as he was affectionately known, liberated 60 million Muslims and protected his country while being viciously attacked by ignorant people who considered themselves progressive yet wanted to consign Iraqis to the tender mercies of al Qaeda – one of the most evil organizations in all of human history.

  82. 82. Mike K

I don’t think he volunteered to serve in Vietnam and that has led to criticism but the F 102, which he flew, was not used in Vietnam and he would have had to transition to another plane, not likely in a Guard unit. In addition, he was in the Guard at a time that Vietnam was winding down and pilots with more hours were returning and taking the slots that allowed more flying time. That is the reason why his attendance was not an issue. They didn’t need low hour pilots anymore. In World War II, they trained far too many pilots and began releasing them early by 1944. The same applied here. It was not Bush’s fault and, if he had been older, he might have gone.

  83. 83. Jim Baker

I am starting to think all my worst fears about President Obama were well founded. Because this man has been elected, I was hoping for change that would prove me wrong.

  85. 85. Gapeseed

Alex #73 – I hear you. Obama’s apparent character flaws, lack of executive experience, and overwhelming legislative majorities are a very bad combination. Failed handling of an economic crisis or terrorist attack and the resulting criticisms could provide the cover for him and Congress to shut up the critics for the sake of National unity and stability. People forget that Lincoln freely suspended civil liberties during a real crisis. And who does Obama look up to? And would he have the character of Lincoln not to abuse the expanded levers of governmental power? It is sad to say but true that Obama’s misfortune could be misfortune for us all.

..Terry, if the slimy, slag-throwing trolls come after your assertions about Bush’s service claiming that he only served five-and-change years of a six-year obligation, you can tell them that, in 1974, GWB asked for and received an early out by the USAF/TNG. This was due to the draw-down in Viet Nam and the returning of many with regular commissions from overseas.

    RE: Obama’s Lack of ‘Experience’

Apparently Obama spent less time in the Senate than Kerry did during his run up to his try at the presidency in 2004. Furthermore, Obama NEVER introduced any significant legislation.

When he was a Senator, he didn’t have to worry much about what he said or did. For what he did, he had the rest of Congress to massage his work until it would be somewhat palletable. And as for what he said, nobody would pay too much attention to a VERY junior legislator.

But now that he is the President, EVERYTHING he says and does gets scrutinized. Not only by our own media but ALSO by the intelligence service and every politician of every other country on the face of the planet.

Use to be that he had his helpful teleprompter to help him remember what to say. But now that he is expected to speak extemporaneously, WATCH OUT!!!!

Or maybe they’ll put a ‘bug’ in his ear and he’ll just say whatever whomever it is ‘behind the curtain’ puts into his head.

  97. 97. Rachel Peepers

The Barack Obama relationship with the mainstream media may be losing its lustre. Not because of anything the adoring media is doing.

For they’re more varsity cheerleaders than senior media types.

    The problem is Barack.

He’s a true believer in the “What have you done for me lately” school of thought.

When American hating Jeramy Wright crossed him, Barack threw him under the bus faster than Michelle can frown when an honest journalist asks if she’s being paid by her sweetheart employer (the U of Chicago)even when she doesn’t show up for work for months.

Now, in a curiously delusional type mindset, Barack believes the mainstream media is thinking about jumping off his lap.

Maybe he secretly knows this fawningly sick relationship between media and master is bound to end.

Which gets him nervous. And makes him quicker than ever to play the race card, especially when he feels the slightest bit threatened.

In point of fact, the boy King can’t decide whether he’s more disappointed at phantom slights by the fawning media or blistering comments by Mark, Shawn, Laura and Rush.

Here’s a guy who always had the best of everything. Best schools. All the money he needed. So the part of “I was brought up constantly reminded I wasn’t white” (from Barack’s book) just doesn’t fly.

In fact, the American people who Barack says won’t like him because he doesn’t look like the faces on their money, actually are the ones that elected him.

They’re the ones who provide him with a limo and jet whenever he gets the yet to sample the good life from another location. A prime example being the $800 a night room at the beautiful Kingsmill resort and spa he visited a few days ago when he took off for the Williamsburg Virginia junket with his Dem pals.

People are out of work and dem Democrats spent a cool 3 million of the taxpayers money to eat well, play golf and listen to a bunch of longwinded, stimulating challenged speeches.

Coincidentally, my Dad was there and heard a couple of Barack’s staff joke, “This bad economy sure has its upside.”

But Barack can use that race card as his trump card for only so long. Even the lapdog media one day may realize that the idea if you attack Barack you’re a racist, in reality rings hollow.

These past two weeks, especially, Barack’s indolent self-centeredness seems to, like a bad drug with side effects, be causing the race card to lose its stopping power like a bullet made of plastic.

One pin prick of truth too many and the Obama balloon is destined to deflate like a rapist on the business end of a woman’s cocked colt 45 complete with steel jacketed rounds.

The fact that Barack is a verbal bully with the courage of a paper lion eventually will become clear as high definition TV. The unamericanness of defining himself as right and anyone who disagrees as wrong will ring as hallow as John Edwards dusty old moral imperatives to do what’s right. (Or did he say, “What feels good?”)

When all is said and done, two weeks into this historical, Obama-defined potential catastrophe, I’m starting to get the feeling our brown eyed handsome man is showing some strange almost paranoid inclinations. The anger at his adoring press. The trashing of conservative media people. The inane childlike cry of “Don’t listen to them if you know what’s good for you.”

I almost get the feeling if this were a touch football Barack is coming close to threatening to leave and take his ball home. A possible poster boy for petulance.

On top of all that, B. Hussein is screwing up his staff and cabinet appointments like there’s no tomorrow. Is there not a Democrat capable of working in his administration also capable of the timely filing of federal income tax forms?

Simple mistakes? I don’t think so. These guys position themselves as brainiacs. The inferred intention to avoid taxes, like Clinton’s intention to dodge the draft is ultimately unavoidable.

An ethical administration? Instead of saddling us with your pork laden stimulus plan, give me a brake.

I’m afraid what we have on our hands is much more than the first black President, even though there’s literally hardly an ounce of African American blood in Barack.

What we have is a man who you wouldn’t want Captaining a ship of state that’s rolling like a Coney Island Coaster in a typhoon. Or being our commander in chief in these perilous times.

    Who’s seen the Caine Mutiny?

For, in Barack, it’s becoming clearer and clearer Bogart’s great rendition of Captain Queeg is coming into focus in the form of the media’s boy wonder, Barack Obama.

    Strawberries anyone?

  103. LOL, the more incompetent the fledgling Obama administration proves to be, the more the ranving anti-Bush left turns to attacks on Bush as some sort of defense of Obama. It’s so rich, my sides ache from laughing at the middle-school mentality of it all.

Hey libs…. Bush is GONE! The fact that you still feel a deep emotional need to kick him around says far more about YOU than it ever said about Bush.

I have lived through 8 Presidential transitions. This Obama daily “screw-up” fest is by far, and I mean by FAR the most “screwed up” I have ever seen.

And you anti-Bushies whose only response is to say “yeah, but BUSH…” Let me remind you, the only significant obstacle Bush ran into in his first two weeks was Harry Reid’s despicable attack on Linda Chavez for providing shelter to an abused illegal alien. Other than that there was no other withdrawn nomination (Obama has four SO FAR!), no other “ethically challenged” candidate who benefited from the “Only one tax cheat in the cabinet” rule Obama has created, and no significant legislative failure.

Obama may survive this and may indeed live up to some tiny fraction of the hype he engendered, but as of this moment, his administration has been one long, entertaining but frightening, in his own words, “screw up.”

Of course the fact that his opponents, like me, PREDICTED this sort of incompetence based on his lack of ANY relevant experience is completely overlooked by his sycophantic lackeys in the press and on these blogs.

I think it’s going to get worse before it gets better folks. And it’s pretty bad already.

“Sorry, but there are a lot of under-21 people serving in our armed forces that have done things for country we can never fully appreciate. Taking away their vote is no place to start. We’ll have to suffer the others.”

I already knew someone was going to say that so I was prepared when I read your statement. I am sorry you feel this way because joining the military does not make you a man. Experiencing the military does, however. I have been in the Army for 6 years and I can tell you right now that the brand new enlisted are just as naive as any other 18 year old. Give them a few years (maybe a deployment in between) and then they can say they know a little on how the world works. I’m so sick of hearing people use that excuse…Joining the military makes you a man. Sorry, but it doesn’t.

  121. 121. Patterson

I should restate what i said in #120. Joining the military doesn’t make you instantly more capable of voting. Don’t relate voting to military experience/lack there of.

There is a big difference between voluntarily joining the military at 18, and having the awareness to be a competent voter. You can be a great fighter long before you are intellectually mature. It doesn’t work in reverse.
The two reasons we got the 18 year old vote are 1) people got drafted to serve in the military back then and 2) The Democrats held a large majority in Congress and they saw the opportunity to add about 3 million new voters, 70% of whom would vote for Democrats. It was a no brainer, I’m sure.

All to put the GOP back into power? So you are willing to sacrifice your own future – and your own childrens future – simply to sniff the backside of Limbaugh. What, do you think Limbaugh will send your kids to college? You think Limbaugh will strengthen your social security? You think Limbaugh cares about YOU at all? Your GOP leader is a drug addicted, sex depraved loser who, for some reason, has an audience of – well, frankly – people like YOU. Why is that? Does Limbaugh really speak for you? Why is that? #7 I 100% agree with you. I was thinking I was the only one who believed that Barack Obama is an affirmitive action President. I voted for him because I felt it was some kind of obligation as a black person to elect a black man to the office of President, I figured he couldn’t do any worse that any of the other Presidents. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I am a black Conservative or whatever name you want to give it. If the Republicans had run Sarah Palin for President instead of McCain, she would have gotten my vote. It is still too early to say if he will make any kind of decent President, but he is starting of on the wrong foot. I just pray to GOD each day that these next four years go by quickly and he doesnt do to much damage, and if any damage is done, we elect someone who has the ability to fix what he broke and correct his ineptitude.

  151. 151. Iago

All the comments about Obama’s thin skin, lack of experience, etc., are correct, but do not account for the rapidity of his public disintegration as a political force, much less as the President of the United States. Obama has, with astonishing swiftness, lost it. Why?

The reason lies in the strategy the Democrats used to gain power. The Democratic Party has gradually been taken over by an alien Leftist ideology whose only interest is their own dominance. Marxism is but a tool to obtain power. Racism, sexism, multiculturalism, all constituent groups are but tools to obtain power for the Nomenclatura, who could care less about their voters or the fine points of Marxist theory as long as it puts them in power.

In the pursuit of power the Nomenclatura has gladly maligned and demonized the Republican Party and has maligned and demonized the USA. Damage to the USA is an acceptable tactic as long as it gains ultimate power for the Nomenclatura.

Consequently, LBJ’s War on Poverty was passed and allowed to drag on for thirty years, accumulating costs and doing terrible damage to poor families. WoP eventually cost $6 trillion and that cost went straight to the (your)national debt.

When the WoP became politically untenable during the Clinton years it was terminated, and a new stealth sub-prime mortgage program was instituted, nominally for the same poor constituency that was shafted in the WoP. The Mortgage Follies became evident about 2006, with increasing awareness by everyone except Democrats in congress, and culminated in an additional $1 trillion loss conveniently timed to complement Obama’s presidential campaign.

The $1 trillion cost of the mortgage problem was highly acceptable to the Nomenclatura. What they did not anticipate was the $30 trillion worldwide market meltdown in response to the propect of a Marxist in the White House. Marxists have a very long history of very bad economic performance, and investors all over the world bailed rather than leave their assets exposed to Marxist inefficiency and corruption.

Having gone so far, the Nomenclatura cannot now call a time-out to reassess the situation. So, shallow, callow, inexperienced, over-his-paygrade Obama is left holding the presidential bag and does not know what to do with it. Wouldn’t you panic if you found yourself in a similar situation?

Next you will see the MSMM, the academy, and the Obama supporters standing around trying to look innocent as Obama self-destructs. There will be a power play to replace Obama, possibly with Gore, maybe Kerry, not Biden. As always the taxpayers will end up paying for the Marxists’ silly games.

When you forget your Constitution and what it means, that is the price you pay.

In #9, eon says that (Zero) reminds him Dagny Taggart’s little brother, “an arrogant, egotistical man-child,” with very little sense of self and who demands constant “stroking,” even while pretending at others’ expense to power and prestige. Zero, says eon, is, in “real life,” what little Jimmy Taggart is in fiction.

For which, I contend, we have lots to be grateful.

Given that the four “Democratic” pretenders to the presidency who preceded him included four who were, variously, in real life, what Benedict Arnold, John Philip Walker Lind and Aldrich Hazen Aimes were and/or were what, give or take a murder or two, Ted Bundy was and/or what ‘Rainman’ was and/or what Al-Fredo Goreleone, in the movie, was. And included one who was what Louis Prima sang about in Irving Caesar’s 1929 adaptation of Leonello Casucci’s and Julius Brammer’s song!*

I, like many others, feel that he is/was very naive or had one of the biggest ego’s of any man. As he talks, I cringe now because HE SPEAKS LIKE AN ADULT TO CHILDREN which no president has done for years. WHY DOES HE THINK HE’S SMARTER THAN MANY OTHERS? He has very limited leadership roles..

However in the end, I have more faith in myself and other AMERICANS to OVERCOME these challenges better than before! Keep the faith in OUR DREAMS NOT THE POLITICAL FIGURES!

  165. 165. Rubicon

So “now” the media are asking hard questions. Gosh, all most of us can say is…. what took you so long?
Obama plans may or may not be the answers for us, but so long as he tries to use his bully pulpit & media connections to silence anyone who asks questions or ridicules his proposals, all he does is expose how weak those plans really are.
Imagine if Bush would have complained like this! Now maybe Bush asked for it, but lets be real here folks, anyone who wants us to spend even more on these suspect plans, has to realize there will be serious questions.
Attacking Rush Limbaugh, talk radio, & the like, only shows Obama has despotic tendencies. Remember, Hugo Chavez also promised his people he would do for them. He was going to champion the people. Now he has closed how many news outlets that spoke out even mildly against some of his plans?
Obama’s reaction is the exact same reaction of all socialists who want only compliance & obedience.
And using the media to call Republicans partisan, when in fact his tactic is pure partisanship, lacks all credibility. You cannot be in the tank for one, but claim the other is being partisan.
Obama’s plans need serious review. There is NO rush as we have been told. That is a tactic & it stinks since its based solely on getting what he wants despite actual evidence from organizations like the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, which has already studied the plans & showed they lack any real stimulative effect. Its simply wasteful partisan spending & its more spending in a few weeks in office than any president has ever spent even in an entire eight years in office.
At this rate, we will spend tens of trillions in just four years, yet we cannot afford to pay off even this spending package.
His thin skin shows his plans lack real substance. All he is counting on now is for his media allies who championed him into office with little review of his experience. But the public is now wise to the tactics of his compliant & even complicit media allies. They have been bought & sold, & their character is not only lacking, its lost forever in bias.

While Obama was doing his cushy time in the Illinois legislature, he recieved little coverage, and most of it was fawning.
