Obama Embraces ‘Gangnam Style’ Anti-Americanism
Being president can be a real drag. Too much work, too many people who want something from you, and having to be nice to people who hate you. I’m sure President Obama is tempted at times to just chuck it all for a few hours and go shoot some hoops, or hit the links. Oh, wait…
But what really sucks is having to shake hands with some truly slimy, despicable people. Nixon shook hands with mass murderer Mao Zedong. Carter was embraced by Brezhnev following the signing of the SALT II treaty. Clinton pumped the paw of baby killer Yasser Arafat. And George Bush did the grip and grin with neo-Communist Vladmir Putin.
So it wasn’t out of the ordinary for President Obama to ascend the stage at the annual “Christmas in Washington” charity event and shake hands with the Korean rapper known as PSY who apparently has two notable achievements: the most popular YouTube video of all time and making the most spiteful, the most glorious, and the most notorious anti-American statements since Jane Fonda sat in the saddle of an anti-aircraft gun in Hanoi and pretended to shoot at American planes while yukking it up with the torturers of our POWs.
PSY, who dresses like a game-show host and dances like a nerdy MC Hammer, rapped up a storm at an anti-war concert in Korea back in 2004, sing-songing that someone should “kill all those f**king Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives.” He also suggested they should be killed “slowly and painfully” and that their families should die for good measure.
Now, I haven’t listened to pop music since I wanted to grow a beard just like those really hip guys in ZZ Top, so I hope I’m forgiven when I confess I thought that “Gangnam Style” was just more mindless anti-police gangsta rap. Instead, it is mindless Korean knock-off American dance pop — a combination of kimchi and apple pie that’s as boringly repetitive as it is garishly inoffensive. The quick cuts and effects in the video made my eyes hurt after watching all 4 minutes and 13 seconds of the clip. And I swear that by the end of PSY’s performance, I thought he was looking more and more like Kim Jong-un, the North Korean strongman. Same frappy build. Same sunglasses. Except PSY dresses better and Kim doesn’t have super hot women in any of his videos.
PSY has had an interesting start to his 15 minutes. Once his rancid anti-American statements became known, his retinue went into damage control, issuing a “What? Anti-American? Who me?” statement that almost makes it seem that an imposter had made those damning comments about killing American soldiers:
While I’m grateful for the freedom to express one’s self, I’ve learned there are limits to what language is appropriate and I’m deeply sorry for how these lyrics could be interpreted. I will forever be sorry for any pain I have caused by those words.
“How these lyrics could be interpreted…”? One way to interpret them is that PSY is a flaming, anti-American kook. Another way to interpret them is that he is a North Korean spy and should be hanged. No doubt PSY prefers the former interpretation to the latter.
PSY’s problem is that he’s not an American liberal. Speaking truth to power like that in America would get him a book deal, a guest spot on The View, and an open invitation to all the best cocktail parties with the trendy folk from New York to Hollywood. He would be praised for his “candor” and “courage” while raking in cash and notoriety. They would make a movie of his life story, and Obama would probably award him the Congressional Gold Medal. Being anti-American in America is a lucrative pastime for many.
Speaking of Obama, the president did indeed shake hands with the Korean devil. But then, he’s used to shaking hands with anti-Americans. I imagine that the president and the fellow who’s “a guy who lives in the neighborhood,” Bill Ayers, exchanged a handshake or two over the years, if they chanced to meet while walking their dogs or something. And we’re pretty sure he shook hands with his black liberation theology preacher, the Reverend Mr. Wright, on occasion. Then there’s anti-gun nut and social justice champion Father Pfleger, the racist Reverend Meeks, PLO mouthpiece Rashid Khalidi — yes, our president is quite at home shaking hands with anti-Americans. That’s why it’s a mystery why so many are up in arms over what some are calling an “outrage” that the president shook the hand of the portly Korean rapper.
Recognizing and empowering anti-Americans at home and abroad is the president’s way of acknowledging that their grievances are legitimate. He may not totally agree with them, but he obviously believes it important that they have a voice and a spotlight.
Next year, President Obama will have the opportunity to embrace another anti-American. Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi will make a trip to Washington sometime in 2013, at which time Obama will get a twofer: an anti-American Islamist and genocidal anti-Semite. Morsi’s eliminationist rhetoric directed against the west and Israel makes PSY’s anti-American rants seem almost like love sonnets. As bad as he is, at least PSY doesn’t have a modern army backing up his nauseating statements.
So the kerfuffle over Obama shaking hands with PSY is, at bottom, just one more internet blow-up — a lot of sound and fury that is much ado about nothing. Perhaps it would have been more surprising if the president had avoided PSY altogether. But I’m wondering what kind of example the president has set for his two young children, who stood close by while Obama thanked PSY for his appearance. PSY has suffered nothing for his callous comments and, in fact, has been rewarded for them by earning a handshake from the leader of the free world. Is this the lesson the president wishes to impart to his offspring?

You just can’t go around hanging every foreign national who makes an angry comment about the US.
This quote could be used for many different situations :
“The president believes in debate that’s civil,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said today. “I haven’t seen those comments and I’m not sure that they mean what some would interpret them to mean. I just haven’t seen them.”
Remind me again why we don’t accept Psy’s apology as genuine. What exactly would convince you that the singer in question has changed his mind about America? What must he do to show proper contrition?
Or is he going to be called anti-American for the rest of his life? If someone expesses anti-American sentiment at one point in their career, does that blacklist them forever?
P.S.: This wouldn’t be news even if Psy WERE still anti-American. Obama has already demonstrated his distaste for the United States. Surely there’s something more pressing to write about than the president meeting a celebrity.
Harder to accept his apology when it comes AFTER he got caught. Seems more like damage control in an attempt to save the pocketbook instead of a genuine change of heart. Either way, his music sucks.
By “public apology” standards, it came across as reasonably handsome and sincere, or a decent counterfeit of same. It’s roughly the sort of thing the man would say in this situation if he WAS sincere, so it seems like common charity to provisionally take him at his word.
This is not even an apology. This is the standard PR line “I’m sorry if people were offended by THEIR interpretation of what I said.”
The quote says, “I’m deeply sorry for how these lyrics could be interpreted.” He is saying I’m sorry if people are too stupid to get my meaning.
Standard non-apologies blame the hearer. This form of non-apology is becoming far too common, particularly among entertainers and political types.
True contrition requires some degree of humility.
It sounded like a Nazi apologizing for his Jew hatred propaganda after WW2. Not sincere at all. “I was just expressing the sentiment at the time, going with the flow.”
He didn’t say he was sorry for SAYING the things. He said he was sorry anybody was offended. That’s a non-apology. A real apology would have been something like this:

When I studied in an American university, I picked up even more knee-jerk anti-American sentiment. I didn’t do any critical thinking on my own. I just swallowed what the anti-American youth culture was dishing out uncritically. I realize now that if I had even applied basic logic to what I’d been taught to believe, I’d realize that what I was believing couldn’t be true.
What I said was hateful, and the willful stupidity that led me to say it is no excuse. I offer a sincere apology to the American people, and I hope that we can move past my past of shallow stupidity.”
THAT would have been an apology.

It’s apparently a Democrat thing. Clinton before him invited rappers to the White House whose “work” glorified cop killers,rape,violence (especially towards women) and referred to women as “b—-es” and “hos”. Democrats’ minds are in the sewer,so they invite others to “perform” for them with like minded “artists”. A pox on them ALL, and a sad commentary on the rotten morality of our most recent Democratic presidents.
The fact that Obamalamadingdong invited a person like PSY to a CHRISTMAS “charity event” should dispel, once and for all, any notion that Emperor Zero actually is of the Christian persuasion. To have a foul mouthed performer at such an event makes a mockery of what Christmas is really all about. The president must actually be either an agnostic/atheist or Moslem.

Was his apology a non-apology? Yes. Is there really any reason to take him seriously? No. He’s a product of the Korean media — who were presenting the Yangju highway incident as if the American servicemembers had seen and deliberately run down two Korean schoolgirls with a tank. I teach English in Korea off and on, and my students TOTALLY believed the media line — at least until I asked them a few questions to test the logic of the belief, like, “Do you really think that, even if they were that evil, they’d think it was worth it to have to deal with the paperwork alone? Think about it. After talking to them for ten or fifteen minutes, then they’d start to see that the narrative made no sense. But they’d been immersed in “They did it on purpose!”
Should Psy have issued a REAL apology? Yes. Should Obama have cancelled the visit? Yes. But getting one’s knickers in a twist over it is to miss the point, which is how powerful the anti-American propaganda is in Korea, where the university students honestly don’t get that if our troops hadn’t run the Communists out of the south, and weren’t keeping them at bay, those very students would not BE students but would be slave laborers on a diet of bugs, rats, and grass.

Perhaps it is time to pull our troops out of S. Korea and see how much freedom of expression this “artist” continues to receive after the North overruns the South. Especially in light of #20. Christina’s post. I remember the 1995 gang rape of a Japanese schoolgirl by U.S. servicemen. Those bastards should have been handcuffed and left outside base gates, then the gate closed for a week.
Taiwan and S. Korea should be required to, if they aren’t already, start paying the majority of the costs of defending their peaceful existence. Their economies have expanded tremendously under the peace provided by the US taxpayer. I served with some ROKs, and they are formidable. Taiwan and S. Korea need to pony up or go it alone. American servicemen who commit Class A felonies can be tried in S. Korean courts and serve their sentences in S. Korea.
Someone should send this guy a copy of Escape From Camp 14 with a litte note saying, There but for the blood of Americans go you. When he starts recommendin the book to his Korean audiences, I’ll believe his “apology.”
Obama is at the top of a pyramid of liberals whose world view runs completely against the grain of history’s run of play. That’s because liberals are largely composed of groups that have not fared well in history, and the remainder of the group buy into that as oppression, not an expression of reality.
That’s the problem: they haven’t fared well in history because in this sense, history is simply a reflection of reality. There is no coulda, woulda or shoulda when it comes to invention and Cortes and the East India Company.
