Obama and Munchausen’s Syndrome By Proxy

Making the patient sick in order to aggrandize power? That might explain the president's policies.

The administration predicted last winter that, in the absence of their “stimulus” medicine, unemployment would rise to nine percent sometime next year, and that with it, it would peak at eight and start to drop this summer. Well, the contents of the bottle from the traveling Obama/Reid/Pelosi medicine show turned out to be arsenic, because unemployment is already at 9.4% and it’s not even summer yet. The patient is showing a “poor tolerance of the treatment.” Despite all of the medical “stress tests” being performed at the parent’s request, the economy continues to show “incongruities” and “results inconsistent with the tests.” And all the while, Daddy Obama tells us about our feelings and the importance of “empathy.” He pretends an “inordinate attachment” to us, basking in the worship of those who still believe that he’s going to fill their gas tank and pay their mortgage.

We don’t know for sure why a mother would poison her child, but it’s a lot easier to diagnose why politicians might want to tank the economy while blaming their political opponents’ policies for it. And it’s no coincidence that when you have policies that cause the failure of a major company, it provides a ready excuse for the government to take it over, because it’s “too big to fail.” So at what point do we diagnose the real problem, which is not the economy, but the people who have what Hayek called the fatal conceit to think that they can tinker it back to “health” with policies that just happen to coincide with their political preferences to increase their power and control over it and the American people? How long will the electorate put up with being operated on by the Three Stooges?

Unfortunately, if history is any judge, they might be able to get away with it a lot longer than we’d like to think. After all, Franklin Roosevelt, the original Munchausen national parent, kept tinkering all through the thirties, suppressing competition and demand, and never restoring the economy to full employment. But he kept winning reelection thanks to his bond with “the common man.” And shortly before the end of the war, he died just a few months after being elected to an unprecedented fourth term. So at long last, the economy, with the help of a newly Republican Congress that prevented Harry Truman from indulging in more snake oil, recovered after over fifteen years of continuous illness caused by an over-doting but toxic mother government.

Will the American people diagnose the real problem better this time around and start to apply a cure in the fall of next year? Unfortunately, history teaches us that most of us don’t learn from history. Maybe we should send them to medical school instead.

The Obamanations message to America can be paraphrased from the one which Mark Antony said about Ceasar ‘ I come to bury America not to praise it’ and all his actions since election just confirm it.

For months now I’ve been saying every misguided Barack policy isn’t misguided at all. It’s intentional.

Obama is out to change the country.

    From strong to weak.
From rich to poor. From financially stable to bankrupt.
From moral to post moral relativist. From constitution- following to constitution-shredding. (the second, first and 14th amendments Obama wants to weaken, at best; destroy at worst. Sotomayor, the supreme court nominee socialist, is a big puzzle piece changing the United States into his own image and likeness.
And the change goes down disgusting paths, pitting family against American family.

From a populace that’s respectful of wealth to using wealthy people as scapegoats for the problems of the poor.
From the country that’s the leader of the free world to having a second rate military whose new hi tech weaponry Obama is cancelling wholescale.(of course, not reported by the press)

From a country with a defense shield to a country with no defense shield. From tight airport and border security, to loose security.
From keeping attacks overseas to inviting attacks on free American soil.
From killing 3.1 million unborn per annum to slaughtering 3.5 per year.
From unrationed health care to government rationed health care.
From racial equality to black supremacy.

I read in the paper Barack’s popularity is starting to slide. Well, it’s about time. His policies are ruinous. His cabinet is corrupt; and not just because they avoid paying taxes (rahm immanuel with a chicago house being one of the biggest offenders.) His vice president is inept, willy nilly giving away state secrets.

From a press that’s at least tried appear to be acting fair to one that admits it wants to work for Obama and see his freedom-killing policies succeed. The people at NBC and MSNBC should be put up on ethics charges, and drummed out of journalism.

From a nation with a chance to become energy independent to one that’s squandering it’s window of opportunity.
Barack made a lot of campaign noise about energy independence. Now he’s quiet as a mouse.

Let’s fact it, Obama is a disgrace. A tyrant whose got his hooks in America and is pulling her head underwater so she drowns, weighed down by cement shoes: his socialist plots and schemes.

This isn’t a Rachel overstatement or rant. It’s the rock solid truth. The more people realize what a snake in the grass Obama is, the more people will come to detest even the sound of his voice.

I won’t call Barack our private hell or Hitler. You have to decide just how evil this creature is for yourself. But I can’t say I was surprised that Obamas’ popularity is starting to slip. How long could it stay up when the creep is trying to make us a second rate miliary power by dumping the defense shield, and bankrupting our children with a national debt that his risen higher in four months than it did in the past 234 years.

Obama hated the surge. The surge won the war in Iraq. Obama hated our military defense shield. Now we need it more than ever with North Korea buzzing Hawaii and Iran threatening to exterminate Israel. Don’t swallow Barack’s moral relativism; there is a right and wrong. It’s wrong to try to destroy America. It’s wrong to allow a standing President to spit in the face of his oath of office. Protect, preserve and defend the constitution. Wasn’t that the oath? Then he proceeds to neuter our military. Bankrupt our country. And with Sotomaoyers’ help, rewrite the constitution in Barack’s image and likeness. The time is now to stand up for your country or watch it crumble as each day Barack’s henchmen chop away at another piece of it’s foundation.

America. We must take a stand.

Investors will refuse to risk their money if they know the government may very stab them in the back. Changing the rules in the middle of the game discourages further participation. The exploding deficits guarantee rapidly increased inflation. There is no way that the economy can truly revive when people are so fearful. Either Barack Obama loses—or the country loses. Both cannot be winners.

Obama is the worse thing to have happened to this country.

Sounds like the 83 year old “minister mentor” Singapore a few years back.

Singapore had clean streets and no gum chewing (and whipped the tourists who screwed up) because they also this neurotic, no-longer-in-office, power-hungry fool (Lee Kwan Yew) who kept on “tweaking things” because he was “the only one who understands what Singapore needs.”

(Read all about it in Paul Theroux’ “Ghost Train to the Eastern Star”, 2008)

Theroux also documents that “Lee had famously praised the Chinese in 1989 for brutally suppressing, shooting, and imprisoning the demonstrators in Tiananamen Square…(his)uncompromising approval of this cruelty had frightened Singaporeans to such an extent that similar demonstrations had nevere occurred” there.

A contemporary observer said of Lee, “He’s very shrewd…think of the Machiavelli line about ‘economy of violence.’ Kill a chicken to scare the monkeys, the Chinese disciplinarians say.”

What our TOTUS POTUS is doing (nothing, basically) about the situation in Iran suggests to me that he definitely does have a policy concerning the “economy of violence.”

This Munchausen’s illustration is very helpful in defining what we’re dealing with.

  8. 8. Gary Ogletree

It may depend on how many Democrats see that Obama is killing the golden goose. When the money dries up or it’s on par with the peso, lights may come on.

  9. 9. David Thomson

“Thank you Republicans that “stayed home.”

I voted for John McCain—but I’m glad he lost the election. He’s simply too goofy and would destroy the Republican Party. Barack Obama will probably not get his major programs passed in congress. The fact that McCain is a Republican would have placed GOP elected officials is an awkward position. A lot of the silliness like perhaps Cap and Trade proposed by the current president would make it into law. Nope, I would much rather take my chances with opposing Obama.

  10. 10. Meryl

    8. Gary Ogletree

Yes….and I wonder what we will end up learning as we watch this process.

How many Democrats will turn out to be American at the core, who just can’t resist fighting for her when the chips are down?

How many of them will indeed turn out to be so naive and uninformed that they just can’t “make the break”?

How many of them will, under cover of the TOTUS POTUS’ flying colors, now allow themselves to be seen as being just like him, ready, willing and able to bring destruction on us for the sake of them increasing their personal political power?

I still maintain that some Democrats really are Americans first and just don’t dare say so yet. But time is running out.

  11. 11. Adina Kutnicki,Israel

It is very possible that most sick parents who suffer from Munchausen’s are also suffering from other forms of controlling personality disorders.

In fact, by being in control of their child’s ‘illness’, they fantasize they can control ALL aspects of their being, unable to do so if their child were normal and healthy.

So, IF the goal of Obama & his benefactors is ultimate control-by the gov’t pulling the purse strings tighter or looser-then surely its Dear Leader should be viewed as a control freak.

In the business world micro managers have often be accused of out of control & high handed tactics, bosses to be cautious about crossing at all costs. Surely a business manager can not wreck the same havoc as the the President of the US.

In tandem with the above, Munchausen patients are highly image conscious, as they preen before the medical community, polishing the halo around their parental image.

It has become painfully clear that Obama is a blank slate, in ways too numerous to count. From his noticeable lack of achievements in the political arena(as a junior, unknown Senator barely out of his political diapers)to his lack of personal records, a first for ANY US president in history,he is able to be ALL things to ALL people. The power this gives him to be The One, the one who fulfills all their dreams is especially intoxicating to a sufferer from Munchausen-control & more control.

For a man who sees his image as the most important part of his persona, where arrongance & swagger are always at the fore, it seems obvious that he also suffers from narcissism personality disorder.

In essence, the leader of the free world is most likely a mentally unstable man, albeit a VERY clever poser.

I would not be surprised if in a relatively short time, the man who is seen as Mr Cool becomes unraveled in some very dangerous ways.

  12. 12. David Thomson

“I would not be surprised if in a relatively short time, the man who is seen as Mr Cool becomes unraveled in some very dangerous ways.”

I doubt very much that Barack Obama will finish his term. He will likely resign due to “medical reasons.” Obama has had a very easy life since his teen years. He barely had to put in any real effort to get so much in return. It is very doubtful that he can handle failure. His dropping poll number will upset him greatly.

Only race guilt explains Obama’s rapid rise in politics. This is a man who has almost zilch executive experience. He did not even complete his first term in the U.S. Senate. Never before in the history of the United States has a president entered office so unprepared. I can’t think of even one exception. Obama’s resume is so slim that if a white man with similar credential had competed for the Democratic Party nomination in 2008—that gentleman would have been ridiculed as an ego tripping whack job.

  13. 13. tanstaafl

…the fatal conceit to think that they can tinker it (the economy) back to “health” with policies that just happen to coincide with their political preferences to increase their power and control over it and the American people?

That’s a good diagnosis of what’s going on.

After the election and before taking office, this President said that our (economic) problems are such that the federal government is the only entity capable of fixing them.

Inside that version of reality, several personality traits are evident, Obama’s belief that he and his minions own it all, his liking to dwell on Himself as Fixer, and a kind of negativity about this country, freedom & free enterprise.

(Small thinking, measures of deepening control & limitation of others are very much the community organizer mentality.)

And when the policies crap out ? You’ve got Joe Biden saying “we guessed wrong” or Obama or Geithner saying “the problems (we inherited them, don’t blame us !)were deeper than we thought”.

Power over it through killing it, Munchausen’s works.

  14. 14. ~Paules

I think simple explanations are probably closer to the mark. A) Mr. Obama does not know the consequences of his policies because his post-modern education amounts to very little real knowledge. B) Nobody close to Mr. Obama has the courage to contradict him for fear of losing his favor. C) The constant adulation of the press and other sycophants has Mr. Obama believing that he’s infallible. HIs fall will be hard when the time comes.

  15. Pajamatarian #3 is just what the doctor prescribed — except for the minor detail that Pajamatarian #0 (Neocomrade R. Simberg) is only another kiddie konservative playin’ at political quackery to assist his Party of Big Management and his AEIdeology, by no means the real M.D. article.

From the trajectory of #3’s jerked knee — “Aha! DEPENDENCY! _Habemus reum confitentem_!” — the serious student of neocomradology can compute backwards to which GOP genius of a sorcerer it is to whom R. Simberg has apprenticed himself. Who, if not

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Murray_(author)

Neocomrade Prof. Dr. Ch. A. Murray, co -inventor or -discoverer of the ever-immortal Herrnstein-Murray Curve®

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Normal_Distribution_PDF.svg

(Pat. Pend.), can be the genuine GOP genius that lurks in shadow behind the shallow wombscholasticism of R. Simberg?

In addition to bein’ an apprentice rather than a full-fledged _magister goëtiæ_, R. Simberg is a practitioner of *applied* AEIdeology, whereas Ch. A. Murray is an Ivy-Tower theorist. [1]

Without definite evidence, one ought not to suppose that the Neocomrade Fellow Prof. Dr. himself approves or endorses or authorizes the way volunteer wombscholars and _Niedergedümmte_ and hired-hand pajamatarians choose to deploy Dependency Theory. “No warranties, expressed or implied,” don’t you know?

Bein’ a wombscholar, R. Simberg is unsurprisin’ly more than a bit of a muddlehead as well. His crucial divagation from _echt_ Murrayanity is that he wants to make out that the fiends of dependency are fiendish ON PURPOSE: “The monsters who run the Demoncrat Party know very well that they are peddling political and social heroin, so please spare us plain-spoken holy-Homelanders™ any Ivy-Tower mumblin’s about ‘unanticipated consequences’!” (So to speak.)

Naturally one can never put one’s whole heart and mind into one’s task when one makes up slogans for the neocomradely community and the Big Party base ’n’ vile _ab externo_. Yet I flatter myself that that stab at it makes the “on purpose” point sufficiently plain. Compare and contrast the stab of Neocomrade R. Simberg:

“The real problem … is not the economy, but the people who have what Hayek called the ‘fatal conceit’ to think that they can tinker it [’a major company’] back to ‘health’ [the neocomrade’s own shudder-quotes] with policies that just happen to coincide with their political preferences to increase their power and control over it and the American people? How long will the electorate put up with being operated on by the Three Stooges?”

Persons not intellectually up to crossin’ the street unassisted would do well to leave sarcasm alone. (Also Freiherr Freddy von Hayek)

The present _señorito_’s “just happen to coïncide” makes it impossible to be certain (in isolation) that it would not admit that wimpy plea of “unanticipated consequences.” The nasty rest of this nastygramme strongly suggests that it would not admit. On the other hand, if the President and the general run of decent political grown-ups are indeed deliberately trying to smash the holy Homeland™ by overthrowing Lord Mammon, then, by the neocomrade’s own account, we are succeeding far, far better than one would get from the Three Stooges. [2]

In short, Neocomrade R. Simberg is so incompetent a sorcerer’s apprentice that any nasty spirits he does manage to summon up are likely enough to drown him rather than inundate the intended enemies of Big Party and AEIdeology.

Why, this poor little neo-laddie cannot even utter the words of the Murrayite spell clearly and distinctly and beyond all possible mistakin’! ’Twould serve him right if . . . . [3]

    Happy days.

    ___
[1] Well, Ch. A. Murray started out Ivy Tower, anyway, according to the learned wikipædiatricians:

“Murray credits the SAT with helping him get out of Newton and into H*rv*rd. “Back in 1961, the test helped get me into H*rv*rd from a small Iowa town by giving me a way to show that I could compete with applicants from Exeter and Andover,” said Murray. “Ever since, I have seen the SAT as the friend of the little guy, just as James Bryant Conant, president of H*rv*rd, said it would be when he urged the SAT upon the nation in the 1940s. Murray obtained a B.A. in history from H*rv*rd in 1965 and a Ph.D. in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1974 …

[and from MIT a Gadarene-swine-like downhill rush to]

… a fellow of the American Enterprise Institute since 1990.”

[2] I should guess that this is only the standard or boilerplate muddleheadedness of rabid partisans: the GOP base ’n’ vile dearly wish everybody on all their innumerable enemies lists to be both a fool and a knave, which is exactly like them wishin’ to eat their cake and have it too. ’Tis reasonable enough to wish for such products, perhaps, but a sure sign of wombscholarship or worse to expect ever to actually purchase them.

[3] “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.”

    This is an interesting analysis.

I spent the time to analyze Islam’s “holy prophet” Muhammed, and found him to be a sadistic sociopathic murdering barbarian. It was there, in black & white, in the Islamic source texts, the Koran, hadith, sira.

There is a lot of smoke around Mr. Obama. I want to cut through the smoke and get to the source documents. But unlike the Koran, Obama’s documents are unavailable, missing, hidden.

I was born in Hawaii the same year as Obama, and my birth certificate looks nothing like that thing he posted on the internet. He probably was born in Hawaii, but if so, why won’t he simply release the actual document? What is he hiding?

How DID he get to Pakistan as a young man with no money? Wo paid for the trip? What passport DID he use? What is he hiding?

Where are his school records? Locked away. WHY?? What is he hiding?

Eventually, the truth about Obama will come out, just as the truth about Muhammed did. And I have an uneasy feeling our suspicions about this enigma of a man will all be proven right.

His nationality? His religion? His political views? How he really feels about America? What is in those Obama source documents? WHAT IS OBAMA HIDING?

Team Obama has a way of offering their sick clients medications before a proper diagnosis. First “everything is wrong” with them, and a large infusion of cash and federal control is the cure. That is cookbook, political playbook medicine.
A startling Obama quote and perspective from the campaign went like this: “Americans use too much energy. The people of third world nations would be embarrassed at your SUVs.”
Does that mean that to level the playing field, to redistribute the wealth is to make the 3rd world happier by bringing the U.S. to their level?

Agreed David. Somewhere there are a number of young LEFT-WING LIBERAL MSM journalists warming up in the bull pen, waiting to make there career with a series about how the “King has no clothes”. Its a statistics thing — kinda like the billions and billions of suns in our universe; there’s gotta be some intelligent life somewhere.

It’s also a chain reaction waiting to happen. The economy will stay mired in the doldrums, a hesitant congress will back peddle as 2010 approaches as they feel the heat from their constituents, programs will stall (as you said), and Obama will stumble in some egregious, left-offending way.

It will be then that some timid editor greenlights the “No Clothes” stories, every available edition will be snapped up, a sequel will be run, circulation rises, the bouffant-coiffed video-persiflagers will pick up the drum beat (“BO and MO in WH shrieking match; dog craps on carpet in Oval Office; the unraveling dream; film at 11″) and we’re off to the races.

  37. 37. Self-hating Boomer

We don’t know for sure why a mother would poison her child, but it’s a lot easier to diagnose why politicians might want to tank the economy while blaming their political opponents’ policies for it.

Kind of a subtle point, but 0bama’s claim was much more lawyerly and evasive than that. If you recall, he didn’t actually pin the blame on Bush or the Republicans (though his minions did in spades). He pinned it on the “philosophy” of deregulation. This wasn’t an accident. The only thing in the past ten years that fits the description of “deregulation” was done by Clinton. He knew that, and slippery lawyer that he was, said one thing and implied the complete opposite.

  38. 38. Self-hating Boomer

The sad thing is that he also intends to shred the 13th Amendment. Srart by enslaving financial workers, by denying them the bonuses that they earned after working for a dollar a year. Soon go to enslaving doctors and nurses. The rest of us will come along later.

First they came for the banking industry. And I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t in the banking industry.
Then they came for the auto industry. And I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t in the auto industry.

I think we all know how this ends.

It makes sense to think of the zeal of our activist administration in terms of pathology. Pathologies of the kind envisionned here require some form of participation on the part of the “normal” protagonists. But “normal” does not mean anything in the abstract. In this sort of pathology, “normality” means unwitting participation and unwillingness to exercise critical thinking, a.k.a. operating under the force of habit.

This diagnostic would apply to this overzealous administration as well, in which case the “normal” protagonists would be an electorate enthralled by the personality of the community organizer in chief, and slow to recognize what’s really going on under the charm, as reflected by a contrast between personal approval and policy approval numbers.

Can the thusly defined “normal” people wake up? Seems to me, this is where the energy of the tea parties come from, common sense, as Glenn Beck, our contemporary attorney representing Thomas Paine, is trying to remind us, daily.

I believe he thought this was going to be a walk in the park that he is use to..I realize being failed community organizer, and voting absent or such it taxing, but this..well, he’s trying to make it look like an easy job, and treats it as such….Michele fits right into the socialists/marxism theme we got goin’ on.

We are not politically savvy. However, we can see what is going on in our country. So many people are just sitting by not knowing what to do.

Sorry but you’re confused. It’s not a psychological phenomenon it’s called vote counting and it’s the principle used in all your 1 party quasi-Democratic states. You form a coalition of enough voters who basically prey on the hard working, tax contributing middle and upper middle classes and you decide to appropriate their money for your purposes. You focus on nanny statism and incrementally raise taxes to benefit your base because once you’ve got 50.1% under your control there’s nothing the other side can do except bitch – until disaster hits and you’re long gone by then. Look at CA, MA, RI, NY, NJ.

But, regardless of the ‘diagnosis’ of ‘Doh’, what he is doing to our Country *IS* wrong, evil and sickening. I’ll never understand the ’spell’ he has cast over ’some’ people. I will never understand or ‘get’ his supposed ‘charisma’. I just don’t ‘get’ why some people are so damned blind.

I tell ya, it’s enough to make me think a good chunk of our U.S. citizens are crazy/insane/nutters too.

I believe whatever his reasons for doing what he is, he is in complete control of his choices.

It seems so many diagnosis of the APA deny a person’s free will and responsibility in their choicse, as though we are ruled by forces over which we have no control – like an animal (of course, if humans are regarded no better than animals, it’s a natural extension to treat people like an animal). Most are not so seriously mentally ill they no longer can distinguish between right and wrong.

I think many American’s (I live in a very blue area – with rampant leftist corruption. typical. Just love those state audits and that the state finally GOT audit power – over the objections of the leftists. Gee, I wonder why they objected? There have been tens of MILLIONS of $$$$ of fraud discovered just in the last 1 1/2 years since the state auditor got power to actually audit. Needd I say at least TWO of the culprits are now working for bambi?) are very self-centered. The 70′s was “looking out for #1″, and it was always about self. My mother had her favorite sign of “everything I like is illegal, fattening, or immoral”. (no exageration). That was a common refrain from many.

Well, now, the dominant trait in society is “what’s in it for me?” Wonder what Kennedy with his “ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country” would think. He may have been highly naive, and a significant reason for the cuban missle crisis in the first place, but there was no doubt he loved this country.

Today’s left makes empty promises (aimed at consolidating their power base), and the self-centered sheople believe. (you’d think they’d catch on, but the sheople have a serious case of amnesia) I’ve had so much fun with my mother these last few months. She now complains about zobamba’s policies, and I remind her SHE votes for these bozo’s. (she voted for Jimmah’ in *80*!)

Dictatorships thrive in poor countries where the government controls everything but makes sure the people have enough food to eat so they don’t feel totally forgotten or betrayed.
This Democratic-controlled government wants the electorate to feel like government has its best interests at heart while the electorate is to dumb to realize what’s really happening — we are becoming a poor country controlled by a dictatorship that is slowly but surely convincing us it knows best. 39. The Republicans may not have wanted Ron Paul, but they did want Mike Huckabee, if only he had the money. Huckabee spent fewer dollars per delegate than any other Republican candidate last year. If he’d had even half the money Mitt Romney had at his disposal, Huckabee would be President right now. What would a Huckabee administration look like? NO Bailouts, NO stimulus, save for things that actually rebuild infrastructure, NO crazy czar positions, NO racist judicial appointments, NO tolerance for congressional nonsense like pork barrel projects and crazy exemptions. Huckabee may not be a libertarian’s ideal candidate, but he shares nearly all their goals, even if his strategy is different.

Although I’m a staunch Republican, my two daughters voted Democratic in the last election. One of them even attended an Obama fund raiser.
We had a drive on one of the busy streets on LA called Melrose and I started counting the number of vacancy signs. In the process both of my daughters got involved in counting. One block had half a dozen vacancies. That’s when I pointed out that each vacancy represented somebody’s dream, hope and life shattered. I also pointed out that if you go away from LA to the surrounding communities, you can count the reposed houses like you can the businesses. Again shattered hopes and dreams. One daughter said,” Isn’t Obama creating 600,000 jobs?” That’s when I pointed out that jobs in the private sector generate taxes. Jobs in the public sector use taxes. Obama’s jobs are all public sector and he’s done nothing for the private sector. There was a long silence as the information sank in. I didn’t have to say another word.

  68. 68. Jeffrey

What appears to be a mental problem (and I’m not saying a mental problem doesn’t exist just that it is more inline with that of a criminal) may be just a complete lack of rational thinking along the lines of the criminal element, often appearing stupid, uncaring, unthinking and evil. Ayn Rand has described these types of characters and their governments as follows:
“A society that robs an individual of the product of his effort, or enslaves him, or attempts to limit the freedom of his mind, or compels him to act against his own rational judgment-a society that sets up a conflict between its edicts and the requirements of man’s nature—is not, strictly speaking, a society, but a mob held together by institutionalized gang-rule. Such a society destroys all the values of human coexistence, has no possible justification and represents, not a source of benefits, but the deadliest threat to man’s survival. Life on a desert island is safer than and incomparably preferable to existence in Soviet Russia or Nazi Germany.”
We rational folk see this unjustifiable thuggery in our government violating every reasonable thought we have and we can see the outcome based on our own rational thought processes. When we protest to our political representatives it seems as if our protest falls on deaf ears.
We are protesting to the mob, we are fighting against gang rule.
As all of us rational beings know there is only one way to deal with bullies and that is stand up to them and punch them in the nose. They will go away.
Of course history is the judge of how hard those punches had to be.
The left in this country has not really had that punch yet. They have been scared back under their rocks a few times by witnessing what happened to Hitler, Mussolini and the Soviets but now they are emboldened by their big mouth messiah and are in full bully mode.
A society must learn its lesson as to what it can afford to tolerate and how lax it can become before it destroys itself. History also teaches this. There is a certain discipline required to maintain individual rights and freedoms within a society. “second handers” to quote Ayn Rand again should never be allowed to run anything. We have a “second hander” as President and a Senate and Congress filled with them. Lazy people who are not willing to earn what their eyes desire should not have those desires fulfilled.
A good rational society will always find a way to be charitable to the truly needy. Government does not need to be involved.
If we are to survive as a free people we must stand up to the thugs now.
Our forefathers foresaw the need for free people to have stand up and throw off an oppressive out of control government and made provision for in the Constitution of the United States. Shame on us if we don’t use the tools our fathers provided to save us from destruction.

So if it’s all about power, then the people who asked, “Why would President Bush invade Iraq and send thousands of Americans to their death without proof of an imminent threat? “What President would willingly destroy American lives and families. it just doesn’t make sense.” . . . they were just ignorant as to the power motive.

But according to you, it does make sense. If power is so seductive, then it’s possible Bush took a passive stance on the warning about “UBL determined to strike in US” . . . was seduced into invading a sovereign nation without provocation . . . was strategic in his relentless usurpation of civil liberties . . . and the Valerie Plame-type revenge and attempted silencing of critics . . . and the firing of federal attorneys . . . and the politicizing of the Justice Department . . . all because he lusted after power.

I think you’re right, chum. Bush did all those horrible things for the pathetic purpose of gaining power. Or am I trying way too hard to justify my criticism? Have I found myself pinned in a corner because my relentless complaints and accusations about Bush can’t be defended because he has no motive to do the things I say he did. And if he has no motive, then I have to make one up, and it has to be big and vague, otherwise it is too easily disproved.

B) Nobody close to Mr. Obama has the courage to contradict him for fear of losing his favor. C) The constant adulation of the press and other sycophants has Mr. Obama believing that he’s infallible.”
    Talk about projection…

    Rachel’s insane rant

I am an independent, voted for Obama after watching Bush direct the most destructive administration ever. Ripping up the constitution?!?

I don’t think anyone argued with a straight face that tax cuts directly caused the current economic crisis. But deregulation can be blamed. Created an environment where looting (in the Akerlof sense) was easy, risks out of control. Read Hyman Minsky (although I suspect that most of the commenters here are either Austrian-leaning, Chicago-leaning, or fascist-leaning…).

I can’t imagine who could be better as POTUS right now. We are in big trouble, plenty of blame to spread around. Plenty of obstacles (I think we’d all agree about Pelosi…).

When the Democrats overreach, the beneficiaries are union workers, teachers, poor people…
when the Republicans overreach, the beneficiaries are corporate welfare queens, Goldman, executives with bad incentives.

Obama is idealistic, but not ideological – contra Paules, he actively seeks out contrary opinions and debate on what is the right thing to do. No one will agree with everything, but his instincts are superb. He will go down as the 21st century Lincoln, despite your irrational whining.

Sheesh…Obama wants to ‘create an America Michele can be proud of’; which seems to be synonomous with ‘destroy’ America.

Moogie…interesting video…lots of corroborating stuff out there if you’re willing to look.

15: are you an idiot savant or a blithering idiot?

Shame on me for responding to a troll, but:

    75. sheesh:

So let me get this straight . . . Obama is intentionally destroying America to gain power over a destroyed America. Is that the idea?
    Jun 22, 2009 – 6:45 pm

Yes. That is correct. Obama is intentionally destroying America in its present form, in order to gain power over a destroyed America, in order to remake it as he thinks it ought to be, namely a socialist country.

    Lil’D

Obama is idealistic but not idiological…not sure of either.

He’s the Grand Obfuscator. So how are you so sure?

He’s definitely a milquetoast…he could be blown over by a swift breeze. (or his own Katrina, now that we are about to enter hurricane season)

….to hear you have so little ‘imagination’, Lil’D.

And how many years of service do you have with ACORN Lil’D?

Its all so groovy, comrade. After the third year you get a FREE Che Guevara T-shirt.

  101. 101. Tcobb

And of course, even if you are an ACORN new-hire, for only $200 (deducted from your paycheck) you can get the anatomically correct Barrack Obama blow up doll. Ah–the tingles

    Re: Lil’D

Hmmm…my first impression of Lil’D is that he/she is really a Big D…and sitting in the basement of the White House. Starting to worry you, are we?

“Independent”. I needed some comic relief today. ROFLMAO

Actually, Lil’D sounds more like Eliza or Jive or other verbal response computer programs written in the 70′s…feed in some factual Obama criticism…out comes…Lil’D…

Ah, to no end for Lil’D, but perhaps others:

Sorry to burst your bubble…irony intended…but it was the REGULATORS who forced the banks to make subprime loans to unworthy borrowers, “or else”…following the will of Congress, Barney Frank et. al. to make “the American Dream” available to all… leaving out a key ingredient of the American Dream: you have to EARN it…not have it handed to you on a subprime platter…

Connecting, once again, to the primary subject and brilliant analogy made in the article in question: Münchhausen’s Syndrome:

First, make the patient (the housing industry) sick by regulating it, although in a truly perverse way: force it to do things logically against its own interest, rather than “regulate” it to reduce the chance of risk/illness, (which, BTW, it does quite nicely on its own)…force the opposite…

(Sick mommy, anyone? Shall we call it now the Maternal State?)

Then, pretend that deregulation was the cause…and prescribe more of the same to the poor child…not in true hopes of real recovery, but more illness…to control, control, control…

    Book ‘em…

    81. Moogie:
    Dear Sheesh and Shadow:

“Do me a favor and read this, then watch this. And if you are still too dumb and blind to see what is right before your eyes, then do me another favor: stay the hell off of our forum . . . ”

Here’s the problem for you . . . The video you posted begins with, “For the first time Americans are not free to say what they think.” . . . but then you tell me to stay the hell off of our forum. You see, that’s a problem. You don’t have any sense of principle or continuity. Don’t take it personally. It’s genetic with conservatives.

  104. 104. Oscar the Grump

    sheesh
Its fun watching you work. I’ve got to remind you I’m a conservative. I wish that crack you made about genetics and conservatism were true. I fathered two liberal daughters. But, they’re learning fast. Given enough time they’ll be good Republicans too.

Tell me something, why is your boy so mute about Iran? He’s facing a pivitol moment in history, yet he sounds like a first grader facing a teacher. Could it be that he is like a sail in the wind? Showy, full of himself with nothing behind it all. Great men see and understand what is in front of them. They rise to meet the challenge. So far he is all bravado and no substance. Reminds me of another great historical leader, Mussolini. Show me some results!

  105. 105. Oscar the Grump

    Conversations with the President

“Mr President, why did you fire the CEO of General Motors?”

Barak Obama, “Well he came to town in this fancy car. Then I heard somebody refer to him as the President of General Motors. That’s why I fired him. Driven a fancy car and being called President. You know, you can only have one President! Damn honky, fancy car!”

  106. 106. sheesh

    104. Oscar the Grump:

First, you don’t have to remind me that you’re a conservative. Second, the WORST thing Obama could do is grandstand for the US media, giving Iran’s religious leaders the opportunity to pounce on the Great Satan yet again inserting itself into their homeland politics. Nobody in Iran likes America very much, you know that, right? We have a bad reputation of stepping on their sovereignty.

I think Obama DOES see and understand – exactly – what’s in front of him. Conservatives and Iranians alike are praising his measured response. The wild-eyed right wingers here in the U.S., driven to distraction by idiots like Hannity and Limbaugh, feel compelled to demand “action!” from Obama. Really? Action? Where were they when Kent State down? I’ll tell you where, sitting in front of the TV yelling, “God damn hippies deserved it!”

Conservatives are more interested in how they can use this to hurt Obama politically than they are concerned about the rights and lives of Iranians. Yes, I really believe that. Why? Because of what they say.

  107. 107. rattanman

Obama is the “more cowbell” president. Even though what he is prescribing does not work, he keeps wanting more and more of it.

  108. 108. Focus

    106. sheesh:

“Conservatives and Iranians alike are praising his measured response.”

Really? Which Iranians are these? Would it be these ones?

TEHRAN, June 17 (Xinhua) — Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday summoned Swiss ambassador to Iran Livia Leu Agosti, who represents U.S. interests, to protest “interventionist” U.S. statements on the country’s presidential election, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

    Or perhaps this guy?

“Britain, America and the Zionist regime (Israel) were behind the recent unrest in Tehran,” Interior Minister Sadeq Mahsouli said, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.

Obama’s “measured” response still results in anti-American hatred spewing from the mouths of the mullah’s. Obama doesn’t need to “grandstand for the US media” in order for this to occur. Yet he still offers “measured” (read: mealy-mouthed) responses. That’s hope for ya.

I call this economy Munchausen economy as we are so deep in the swamp that the only solution is that of Munchausen – you have to pull yourself out by lifting yourself fron the hair!
