Is Obama attempting to portray those who are against illegal immigrants breaking our laws as racists?

It’s also somewhat galling to hear Obama speak of Lazarus’ Jewish heritage, considering his attitude toward Israel — a nation created in the traditional Jewish homeland as a refuge for Jews once again escaping from Europe “to the sounds of gunfire” and seeking refuge to create new lives for themselves.

But here’s the icing on the cake: Obama made the claim that “being an American is not a matter of blood or birth, it’s a matter of faith” and said that “we can’t forget that this process of immigration and eventual inclusion has often been painful. Each new wave of immigrants has generated fear and resentment towards newcomers, particularly in times of economic upheaval.” In other words, those of us who are against illegal aliens breaking our laws by sneaking in through our borders and other ports of entry are a bunch of racists who are looking to deprive these people of their livelihoods.

Ed Morrissey brings up another salient point:

We know what Obama meant in this passage — a similarity to those who have expressed the notion that they were Americans before ever setting foot in the US, thanks to their love of liberty.  However, the people expressing that concept came to the US through legal immigration, and didn’t presume to break our laws in order to express their desire to live in freedom.  They understood that the aspirational concept of being American and the legal status of American citizenship (or even residency) are two completely different things.

Besides, if being an American is a matter of faith, then the religion in question is devotion to the rule of law.  We have created the laws by which we live through representative democracy within a framework set by our Constitution.  Breaking the law to get into the country isn’t an expression of faith; using Obama’s construct, it’s actually heresy.

But as I said recently, it’s not about enforcing current law to protect actual Americans — you know, those of us who do not base our citizenship on “faith” alone. It’s about courting a large group of people who, if given amnesty, would constitute a juicy voting bloc just waiting to be snapped up.

  1. I agree with your conclusion, this is about the Democrats salivating over the prospect of enlarging their voter bloc. President Obama does a masterful job in couching his desire for more votes in his usual teleprompter way. But his idea that people are Americans by faith is disturbing.

“So those breaking the law as they come into this country are just as American as those born here? My daughter and my two boys who were born in America, are viewed by President Obama, as equally American as the illegal immigrant whose act in coming into this country is a violation of law? Do those on the Left really have faith in America and support the idea of having shared values?”

    • I don’t think he was bold enough to put illegal aliens on the same footing as those born here; a too-charitable interpretation would be that he was saying that those naturalized are equal to those born here.

In any case, the more productive way to handle this issue is to point out to his supporters how he tried to mislead them. You can find several ways he misled here:

      http://24ahead.com/n/10085

Note that I’ve been covering this issue for years and I already had answers to the trite arguments he used, meaning that instead of repeating myself I only had to link to those answers.

  2. Quote “…if being an American is a matter of faith, then the religion in question is devotion to the rule of law. We have created the laws by which we live through representative democracy within a framework set by our Constitution. Breaking the law to get into the country isn’t an expression of faith; using Obama’s construct, it’s actually heresy.”

It should also be noted that if the religion is the rule of law, this can be implemented any where in the world through the simple act of getting rid of dysfunctional law codes and religions like Sharia, cleptocracy, Marxist and post Marxist [South American feudal laws] and humanist laws system commonly found in Europe. The thing that they are fleeing is hiding in their mental baggage.

What makes the US free also makes Australia and Britain free: Limited accountable government with full voting rights for all, jury trial, local participatory government and capitalism. Its contagious and you don’t need to leave home to catch it. You must however fight for it.

Obama is a liar and he insults Americans. We had a difficult time listening to his speech.

Funny how Republican are in the minority, yet Obama blames them for things not passing etc.. Of course we still have Americans that believe things like Peggy West said about AZ.

Faith!!! bulldroppings.. Faith in What Mr Obama??

      • we

its President Obama… give him his respect he rightfully deserves

  3. Obama made the claim that “being an American is not a matter of blood or birth, it’s a matter of faith”…

Which is why we’re being silly about wanting to see his long-form birth certificate, right?

Barack Hussein Obama is about as American as Josef Stalin, with whom he shares most of his core convictions. He’s an egotist for the record books who thinks his mandate is for “fundamentally transforming America.” He disbelieves in the importance — nay, the existence — of objective truth. He has no moral code other than that his ends justify any means. Wherefore, then, should we wonder that he declines to enforce, or even speak in defense of, the laws of this nation as they pertain to immigration and naturalization — laws over which the Constitution gives plenipotentiary authority to Congress, not to the executive branch?

    This man must be deposed.

    • Granny

The MSM took it on faith that obama was born in the US. Anyone wanting to see his birth certificate has been painted as some kind of kook. Actually the only crazies are the ones who are stepping out in faith to believe anything obama says.

  4. 4. Conservative1

    Obama is not an American.

I am deeply troubled by the speech given by Obama, he was WRONG on so many points. The Statue of Liberty was donated to the US by France on the 100 anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, which Elena Kagan does not recognize as our nation’s founding document. The fund raising was for the pedestal and was completed in 1876. The poem wasn’t written until years later, and the bronze poem plaque was not added to the pedestal, not the statue, until 1913.

      • Nobody

Wow! That was a powerful argument! Duh! Hell, let’s just eliminate all laws rather than ignore them. That will prevent cries of racism every time a liberal disagrees with actions performed in the name of the law.

  5. 5. Nichole

Even if amnesty is granted, which it won’t happen, it would take up to 8 yrs for these “newly” Americanized” people to be able to vote. Congress would snatch this up and veto any Executive Order that Obama signed. Since it is an election year, I don’t see this taking place. I bet the snake will wait until after the general election and pull some crap. The populace will be snoozing and the government that we elect will do nothing.

Great article. I stole a small paragraph for my facebook. I will get hit for it, but I agree with you 100%

    • carolannie

Many of the ways people now register to vote (motor voter, by mail, etc) require no proof of citizenship. Get a driver’s license, get a vote.

  6. 6. Pangea

Granting amnesty to illegal aliens for the purpose of increasing their (name any politician) voter block is likely accurate. However, Obama’s goals are far more sinister. He despises the United States of America and what it stands for. He will take any steps necessary to reduce that which is America(n). Erasing the differences between Mexico and the US via multiculturism, political correctness, and faux racism, including minimizing the US-Mexican border, will reduce the sovereignty of our nation-just what liberals/marxists/totalitarians desire. Why else would he allow a foreign government (i.e. Mexico) to have a say in one of our state’s laws? What’s next, Sharia law? Make no mistake, his desires are to destroy America, freedom, and liberty, and our guilt-ridden white liberals are more than happy to oblige.

    • CGW

      Pangea:

Well said. However, perhaps you can explain what differentiates the “liberals” from the professional republicans? It seems to me it’s still only the time it will take for each of them to deliver us to UNTOPIA.

Long live John McCain. Long live Mike Huckleberry. I rest my question.

  7. 7. Morton Doodslag

“…those of us who are against illegal aliens breaking our laws by sneaking in through our borders and other ports of entry are a bunch of racists who are looking to deprive these people of their livelihoods.”

    Should read:

“…those of us who are against illegal aliens breaking our laws by sneaking in through our borders and other ports of entry are a bunch of racists who are looking to deprive these people of their American-ness.”.

In other words, fervent desire to come to America, for whatever reason, is proof that a person is thereby automatically an American citizens by the mere act of desiring to come here. It is a vile degradation, a poisonous deconstruction of the very notion of citizenship in America, and i think that is deliberate. Taken to its logical conclusion, Obama’s idea about citizenship is the destruction of the very notion of a sovereign nation under the rule of law.

If desire to come to America by any means to fulfill deeply held personal desires is the measure of American citizenship, does this mean that a Muslim terrorist hell-bent on coming to America to fulfill his fervent dream of mayhem also an “American”? A human tsunami is swamping our laws, our resources, and our civilization. They flee their flailing and corrupt civilizations to come here – but if the titanic forces unleashed once they’re awarded citizenship “fundamentally change America”, and make it unrecognizable, as they have done to my home city of Los Angeles, then how is that American?

Obama is beyond the worst president we’ve ever had – he is an enemy of the very precepts which form the foundation of America. If allowed, he intends to dismantle this nation and recreate it in his own graven image. Forget the American Dream. Obama is the monster in our American Nightmare.

E Pluribus Pluribus is the equivalent of perpetual war and American annihilation.

  8. 8. Patrick Sarsfield

Let me preface this by saying that I do believe Obama lies out both sides of his mouth, his ears and his nose at the same time…I could go on, but it would be unseemly to bring other orifices into it.

That said, I understood the “small donations” part to refer not just to the pedestal, and not at all to the purchase of the statue which was, as the author correctly points out, a gift from France.

But, it was a gift from France that sat for years unassembled to the point that other US cities were making bids to have it erected there instead. Pulitzer used the NY World to drum up support for funding to assemble the statue which, at the rate it was going, didn’t look like it was going to happen at all…the funding for that came in, as O said, in dribs and drabs from the American people. In that, he was accurate that they were paying for the construction of it even though they were not paying for the fabrication of the copper plates themselves, which were a gift.

Another little-known piece of history…the statue was originally designed to stand at the Port Said entrance to the (then) new Suez canal…only, they thought it was ugly and didn’t want it, so it was given to the US instead.

  9. 9. Emma

Ok. I guess I’m going to have to begin to believe that all these cute rhetorical (I had hoped) questions actually do mean their authors really aren’t clear on the answers. So I’ll answer this one:

“Is Obama attempting to portray those who are against illegal immigrants breaking our laws as racists?” Yes.

We’re gonna have to step it up folks, or we’re going to be reading the following in December, 2012: “Will obama govern from the center?” Come ON.

  10. 10. Hainer

Its the Statue of Liberity, not the statue of immigration. What a sorry bunch these democrats are that they have to import their voters.

  11. Your article is most informative; I was unaware of such a ridicules remark from our president. Did any of the Sunday talk shows bring this to the attention of the viewing public? It’s just not right when someone who assures us all of change with his administration as he rewrites history along the way.

  12. 12. chambers

“(B)eing an American is not a matter of blood or birth, it’s a matter of faith”….Wow! What a line! It’s grandly uplifting, semi-religious in tone and utterly hollow. It’s a line intentionally included in a speech so that it can be a sound bite later on. A perfect example of the all-too-familiar Oprahfied gassy uplift we have come to expect from this administration.

I hate to be the one to say it but being an American is NOT “a matter of faith” but rather a matter of law. You would have thought that constitutional scholar and former Harvard Law Review editor B. Obama would have recognized that. However Obama and the Dems are salivating at the prospect of adding ten to fifteen million potential voters to their base and the devil take the high road. The implacable fact remains however that these potential voters are still here illegally and a special accomodation has to be made for them – an accomodation that has never been made for any other immigrant group in U.S. history. As a result the proponents of legal immigration and secure borders (a federal responsibility by the way) must be smeared as racists and xenophobes in order to prepare the ground. It’s a tried and true “progressive” tactic and one that every good liberal is quite comfortable with.

  13. When in doubt blame the Republicans. They started all the racism by freeing the slaves, the Demoncrats fought back with the Ku Klux Klan but the evil Republicans were just to evil and powerful. Now the Republicans want to protect the U.S. from an invasion from it’s southern border, the audacity, how racist of them to resist the invasion.

  14. 14. pendantic

I notice the refence to the remark by Obama that he visited all 57 states. I believe it was a fruedian slip. People should know that there are 57 muslim states in the U.N. Please don’t accuse me of paranoia or being a nutbar but it is thoroughly thought provoking.

    • ked5

That “57 states” remark was no more fruedian than his “my muslim religion” to George Stephanopolis. ;-/ (or his bowing to the saudi king)

  15. 15. miriam rove

Pam: amnesty for illegal aliens? what is you solution?
Here is an alternative. there 25 million illegals here.

one-we should figure out how many of them are in each state.
two-for every 10 illegals we should send one solder. for example say in California there are 5 million we need to sent 500,000 solders.
Three-each solders should execute 10 illiegal and so on..we should be able to get rid of them within a few days.
Now we do not have any illegal aliens here.

result of executing the illegals. entire economy of California will collapse
entire restaurant industray will coolapse in NYC. I work here.

entire land scaping business will collaps through out the counry.
so: you and the rest on Neo Cons here, will not be eating vegatable, or fresh fruits. basically we are f……d. but you don’t get it

so come up with a solution. I am a foriger and I have been here 32 years and every president grappled with this problem. and yes it is a matter of faith. My loyalties are to this country. unlike most people who live here, enjoy life but their loyaties is to Israel.
    Let’s get real…

    • Steve G.

A bunch of racist remarks you make here miriam. And of course you had to get the “Israel” dig in there. You deserve the best troll line ever, revised just for you:

The grown-ups are having a conversation. Here’s a push pop. Now go in the other room and work on your spelling.

      • miriam rove

I am trying to have an intellegenc conversation here too. First of all my spelling has nothing to do with anything..

to deport 25 million people is not a viable option. let’s face it…
I came here when I was 19 years old and did not speak aword of English and I made it big… I work in New York City and for every f……ing sign posted out there, the Spanish version is right next to it. this is f…..ing outragous. this is an English speaking country and you speak english period.

I am all for legal Immigration and I do not care for people crossing the border illegally. I had to do my work, paper work etc.. for 6 month before I got a visa to come here and so should everone else.

Every f….ing president since I have been here and I came here when carter got elected played politics with Immigration.
They want to get the cuban -american votes, or the other ethinic groupos etc..

Look here is solution or at least I think it is and please feel free to let me know what you think:

one- most important, we need to send troops to our borders to protect it. this is way too big for border patrol. hoefully this would ebb this patern

two-Grant legal status to those who are here. this way both state, local and federal governmet collect taxes..

3- prior to have a citizenship, they must become fluent in English and know our cuture
        what do you think

        • Ferd Berfel

Miriam rove: I don’t know who’s spelling and English is worse, yours or joy2dworld. “…my spelling has nothing to do with anything”. It sure does. You can’t take a moment to review your grammar and spelling before you hit the SEND button? You’re trying to communicate with other posters here; your bad grammar and spelling make your points pointless and worthless. You lose credibility and no one will read your followup postings. Gad – you must be a product of Government Schools!

        • Joanof Arc

Are you one of those Iranian students who marched around with bags on their heads claiming that the US had tortured them?

I remember your type back in 1978.

Your generation really screwed up Iran.

I see you still have the same mindset as at that time: kill some people in the street like you and your Mullah supporting friends did back then,

    • My loyalties are to this country….

Your loyalties, by your own admission, are to Islam. Islam permits no other loyalties. Therefore, your statement is a lie — a deliberate attempt to deceive, in support of an unstated agenda. Isn’t that what Muslims call taqiyya? Or, since this is a political discussion, would it be kitman?

    • MarkTheGreat

I’ve always been amazed by the eagerness of liberals to highlight their ignorance.

25 million illegals? According to whom?

Even if your proposal was only facetious, what is it about liberals dreaming of killing those they disagree with?

As to all those industries collapsing, not likely, especially not with a true unemployment rate near 20%.

While it is true that every recent president has grappled with this problem, few have made proposals that have a chance of working. This goes double when the Democrats have a majority in congress.

Since you haven’t been paying attention again, I will let you in on the secret. Conservatives have plenty of solutions. Things like punishing employers who employ illegals. Things like no longer providing public services to illegals. Things like the new law in AZ.

As to your dig about loyalties, why do you presume that anyone who doesn’t think jews are the ultimate source of evil, are loyal to Israel first?

      • Anonymous

Gee Miriam you overlooked the most obvious answer. Get rid of all those illegal Mexicans and replace them with Moslems instead. After all you know how welcome they are in this country. Israel solved its Moslem problem by building a wall, the US could learn from that. When the Moslems got out of hand after that, they introduced the alternative to family planning for population control. I just love it when you drop your terds of wisdom on this site much like a cow in a pasture. I’d say they are both equivalent.

    • Nahanni

      LOL!

There is nothing “intelligent” about any of your comments, honey.

Pack up your deck full of race, anti Semite and anti American cards and run back to the fever swamps of the “reality-based community” before you get your poor widdle psyche hurt. You see, honey, “reality-based” means that it really has nothing to do with reality. You will discover that reality is a very harsh mistress indeed who doesn’t suffer fools like you lightly. When TSHTF do not come looking for a helping hand, either-there will be none.

  16. 16. polagne

pedantic, you are not paranoid. you are brilliant. you hit the head on the nail. i knew it was some kind of freudian slip. but i couldn’t figure out where the #57 came from. unless he was referring to 57 varieties of ketchup, which he wasn’t.

  17. 17. K.T.

The lies from this impostor/poser and his 38M $ crew of fools and thieves are stacking up like cord-wood – little by little more American people are taking notice of these lies. Lies such like the economy is turning – employment is up – the stimulus is working – “I’m doing everything I can to put America back to work” – etc etc etc and blah blah blah.

Sorry Mr Impostor/Poser – history is history – even WikiPedia doesn’t agree with your version of the history of the Statue Of Liberty. I’m sure there are Obamatons working right now on upgrading (creating lies) the information about the Statue to blend with your version.

What is so disappointing in all this is the very real failure of the MSM to latch onto any of these lies and take him/them to task on any single point. When the MSM came out swinging over the Gulf oil spill I had a glimmer of hope that they had changed their ways – how wrong I was. Looks like no hope nor change for me – at least for 2.5 years any way. A swing in power in Congress isn’t going to be enough to completely reign in this Bozo.

  18. 18. MarkD

    Miriam,

    Let’s get real, indeed. Executions?

It’s fairly simple. Employment of illegals should be a felony, with mandatory prison sentences for corporate owners and officers. Put a bounty on turning them in.

Coincidentally, all sorts of domestic jobs open up. Like that meat processing plant that had Americans take the jobs “Americans wouldn’t do” when they deported the illegals.

I’ve nothing against Mexico or its people. I certainly wouldn’t expect to be able to go there and ignore their laws with impunity. I think we owe something to our own citizens first.

(Hold the racist/xenophobic slurs. They make you look stupid. I’m married to an alien of another ethnicity who came here legally.)

    • MarkTheGreat

      Hold the racist/xenophobic slurs.

What makes that comment of hers really funny, is the utterly vile and despicable things miriam routinely says about jews.

    • Granny

Do I detect a whiff of hypocrisy from Mexico? If they live in a glass house, maybe they shouldn’t be throwing stones at the US.

      How Mexico treats illegal aliens
      http://michellemalkin.com/2010/04/28/police-state-how-mexico-treats-illegal-aliens/
      by Michelle Malkin
      Creators Syndicate
      Copyright 2010

Mexican President Felipe Calderon has accused Arizona of opening the door “to intolerance, hate, discrimination and abuse in law enforcement.” But Arizona has nothing on Mexico when it comes to cracking down on illegal aliens. While open-borders activists decry new enforcement measures signed into law in “Nazi-zona” last week, they remain deaf, dumb or willfully blind to the unapologetically restrictionist policies of our neighbors to the south.

The Arizona law bans sanctuary cities that refuse to enforce immigration laws, stiffens penalties against illegal alien day laborers and their employers, makes it a misdemeanor for immigrants to fail to complete and carry an alien registration document, and allows the police to arrest immigrants unable to show documents proving they are in the U.S. legally. If those rules constitute the racist, fascist, xenophobic, inhumane regime that the National Council of La Raza, Al Sharpton, Catholic bishops and their grievance-mongering followers claim, then what about these regulations and restrictions imposed on foreigners?

      – The Mexican government will bar foreigners if they upset “the equilibrium of the national demographics.” How’s that for racial and ethnic profiling?

      – If outsiders do not enhance the country’s “economic or national interests” or are “not found to be physically or mentally healthy,” they are not welcome. Neither are those who show “contempt against national sovereignty or security.” They must not be economic burdens on society and must have clean criminal histories. Those seeking to obtain Mexican citizenship must show a birth certificate, provide a bank statement proving economic independence, pass an exam and prove they can provide their own health care.

      – Illegal entry into the country is equivalent to a felony punishable by two years’ imprisonment. Document fraud is subject to fine and imprisonment; so is alien marriage fraud. Evading deportation is a serious crime; illegal re-entry after deportation is punishable by ten years’ imprisonment. Foreigners may be kicked out of the country without due process and the endless bites at the litigation apple that illegal aliens are afforded in our country (see, for example, President Obama’s illegal alien aunt — a fugitive from deportation for eight years who is awaiting a second decision on her previously rejected asylum claim).

      – Law enforcement officials at all levels — by national mandate — must cooperate to enforce immigration laws, including illegal alien arrests and deportations. The Mexican military is also required to assist in immigration enforcement operations. Native-born Mexicans are empowered to make citizens’ arrests of illegal aliens and turn them in to authorities.

      – Ready to show your papers? Mexico’s National Catalog of Foreigners tracks all outside tourists and foreign nationals. A National Population Registry tracks and verifies the identity of every member of the population, who must carry a citizens’ identity card. Visitors who do not possess proper documents and identification are subject to arrest as illegal aliens.

All of these provisions are enshrined in Mexico’s Ley General de Población (General Law of the Population) and were spotlighted in a 2006 research paper published by the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Security Policy. There’s been no public clamor for “comprehensive immigration reform” in Mexico, however, because pro-illegal alien speech by outsiders is prohibited.

Consider: Open-borders protesters marched freely at the Capitol building in Arizona, comparing GOP Gov. Jan Brewer to Hitler, waving Mexican flags, advocating that demonstrators “Smash the State,” and holding signs that proclaimed “No human is illegal” and “We have rights.”

But under the Mexican constitution, such political speech by foreigners is banned. Noncitizens cannot “in any way participate in the political affairs of the country.” In fact, a plethora of Mexican statutes enacted by its congress limit the participation of foreign nationals and companies in everything from investment, education, mining and civil aviation to electric energy and firearms. Foreigners have severely limited private property and employment rights (if any).

As for abuse, the Mexican government is notorious for its abuse of Central American illegal aliens who attempt to violate Mexico’s southern border. The Red Cross has protested rampant Mexican police corruption, intimidation and bribery schemes targeting illegal aliens there for years. Mexico didn’t respond by granting mass amnesty to illegal aliens, as it is demanding that we do. It clamped down on its borders even further. In late 2008, the Mexican government launched an aggressive deportation plan to curtain illegal Cuban immigration and human trafficking through Cancun.

Meanwhile, Mexican consular offices in the United States have coordinated with left-wing social justice groups and the Catholic Church leadership to demand a moratorium on all deportations and a freeze on all employment raids across America.

Mexico is doing the job Arizona is now doing — a job the U.S. government has failed miserably to do: putting its people first. Here’s the proper rejoinder to all the hysterical demagogues in Mexico (and their sympathizers here on American soil) now calling for boycotts and invoking Jim Crow laws, apartheid and the Holocaust because Arizona has taken its sovereignty into its own hands:

      Hipócritas.

Then after he was in office a while, I got to know his ways better, and I disliked him. (I dislike liars.) Eventually, I started to hate him.

    Now I hate his guts.

To be more accurate, more than hating him (as a person), I hate the things he does: the lying, dissembling, unfairness. I hate these things more than I hate any individual. And he represents them to the hilt.

How anyone can be taken in by this equating legal with illegal immigration, then implying that those who are against illegal immigration are against immigrants (and racist, and “fearful,” etc.), I just don’t know.

How he himself can have any intelligence and actually make these illogical statements is impossible to believe – you simply have to conclude he knows perfectly well that he is the world’s most vile dissembler, but thinks what he is doing is more important than being in the least truthful. And he thinks the rest of us are just too dumb to notice.

Besides thinking we are stupid, he also hates us. By “us”, I mean, (legal) citizens who disagree with his goals. (Which consist mainly of obliterating us economically and removing our power and freedoms.)

Worse than all that, though, are the ideas themselves, and the total lack of principles. Those things are common to more than just this one man. And the people who are like him in deceit are taking a foothold. The result: a world where logic and fairness are totally upside down, and anyone who doesn’t agree with it is the one who is wrong and should be destroyed.

It disturbs me that so many people buy into this rhetoric. Can people no longer reason?

    • bubber

You liked him because, like many others, you were conditioned by the media to accept without question whatever they portray.

Why wasn’t there skepticism of what we were told?

      • Alana

No, I stopped liking him – just his appearance, personality, etc. – once I read and learned about his intentions and connections. That was before I voted. I did my homework (which wasn’t listening to and accepting what the MSM said). When he was elected, I hoped that somehow all those connections and intentions would fall by the wayside; that he would now have to be president of all of us, and have to rise above them.

He did not, and turned out to be serious about implementing a radical agenda. There was also the lying and the condescension and the ridiculing of Americans and American values. Putting down whole groups of people, from Pennsylvanians to Arizonans, along with anyone and everyone who doesn’t go along with his agenda to turn us into something we aren’t and never wanted to be.

That’s when I started actually hating him. To my mind, he’s treasonous, and so are all those who are of his ilk. I try to rise above this feeling of hate, though, by understanding that he is but a symbol of the ideas and attitudes, which are what I actually hate. I hope for him that he stays safe, gets voted out of office, and is no longer in a position to do us harm.

I hope for us that fewer of those types of people with those ideas and attitudes get into power in the future. It’s worrisome that I know so many people who not only share his ideas, but see nothing wrong with his actually turning against Americans. I guess cause they think he doesn’t mean them.

        • Nahanni

          Alana,

You did not do your homework. Anyone who was even halfway paying attention saw Obama and the Corruptocrat party for exactly who and what they are.

I know it is hard to admit you have been a total fool and I appreciate that you have finally grasped the horrible reality of your foolish decision to vote for them but the lame attempts to try to save face on your part by claiming you “did your homework” just aren’t working.

They only serve to make you look even more foolish.

          • Anonymous

I don’t wish to argue with you any further on this forum, so I will just answer you again and then let you have the last word, if you like.

I did do my homework. I researched Obama and studied and their detailed (and terrifying) campaign web site. Seriously, all it took was hearing about his connection to Ayers to turn me off to him, but the further research just filled me with more dread.

Needless to say, I didn’t vote for him.

I have not been a total fool. I knew about his connections from the moment anyone on the Internet did. I researched his personal history. I knew about his plans when they were right in front of anyone to read on the campaign web site, but no one seemed to.

All I said was, I liked him at first – as a person, his appearance, personality, etc. Then, when he was elected, I consoled myself with the thought that surely he would at least move more to the center, which from the start has not been the case. Then when he insulted us and lied bald-faced to us, over and over, I began to hate him.

I never voted for him (or them). You simply have my number wrong here.

          • carolannie

Did ANYONE who voted for Obama listen to what he said or read what he wrote? A man who grew up w/communists, was educated in a few of the Top 10 America-hating universities, has a racist for a pastor for 20+ yrs, sought out Marxists, radicals & a bomber as pals, then married someone who feels the same way, probably doesn’t wake up singing Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless The USA.”

Bet you were caught up in the hysteria and in the belief pushed on everyone that if you voted for this charlatan that made you BETTER THAN THOSE WHO DID NOT. I still see people driving around with this moron’s bumper sticker on their cars. It doesn’t matter what he is doing to their country and by extension, themselves. They think they as WAAAAY COOL because they were on the cutting edge. They voted for a black man! They are superior to we racist neanderthals who got a whiff of the stink from this man and knew we were getting an olfactory preview of the decaying corpse that would be America once he had the chance to maul us. You were brainwashed and manipulated and you didn’t even know how you were being played. You were not even in charge of your own brain because your emotions were played against you. That is what the left knows how to do and that is why they are the Captains of Fraud and Deception because no one would buy the crap they are peddling if there was a full disclaimer. Many of us could predict what he would do. We were right. Proving once again that those whose political leanings reside in the camp on the right have far more intelligence and smarts than those whose heads are listing leftward. But then again, most of us know that too. The more he attacks and destroys be prepared to witness the unhinged defenses mounted by his supporters to twist his action into something else. It is the political equivalent of the Stockholm Syndrome, where they will cling to their tormentor in order to protect their sanity.

      • Alana

        Are you talking to me?

All I said was I liked him at first. Which was around January of 2008. By that summer, I’d researched him and the thought of his being elected filled me with dread. I woke up the morning after he was elected with the same emotions I had on the morning after 9/11.

I did not vote for him, and was caught up in no hysteria or anything of the kind. In fact, was thoroughly depressed (and nauseated) that so many were.

All I said was I liked him at first – his personality and appearance. I’m talking about upon first seeing him.

Then I said how I came to dislike and ultimately to hate him (and I hate few people).

Good grief, a person ought to be able to say that much without being accused of all this nonsense.

Pure nonsense it is, too. Save it for someone it would actually apply to. It doesn’t apply to me at all, and I resent all this insane jumping to totally erroneous conclusions just because I said I liked the guy at first.

It’s interesting how Obama was supposedly a constitutional lawyer and an adjunct professor of law, and yet he supports and endorses that full rights be given to illegal aliens and undocumented workers who are in the states illegally and not complying with established (federal) law, yet he shuns and disregards the plight of those of us naturalized immigrants who went through the legal process and were law abiding through and through.

I’m an Asian-American, and my husband is British & Australian who 2 years ago also became a US citizen. We’re not racist. In fact, I’ve hired 5 African-Americans and 2 Asian-Americans over Caucasians in the past 2 years. My shop is probably the most diverse in my organization, so I resent it when people like me and my husband, who wholeheartedly support the Arizona immigration law, are labeled racists. That’s an insult and that’s an incredible lie and distortion that Obama and his left-wing establishment are spewing to the American (voting) public.

Live by principles, and play by the rules, Mr. Obama. I know you’re used to giving a pass to people you know who do illegal or questionable things. For example, your own illegal alien auntie from Kenya was recently given a pass again by Immigration officials to be able to stay in the US indefinitely and continue to receive welfare US-taxpayer-funded money and live in US-taxpayer-funded public housing. How does she get away with that?? Is that fair to the rest of us who had to spend hard-earned money and properly go through the legal immigration process to get our citizenship and achieve the right to live and work freely in the United States? What happened to the rule of law, Professor Obama?

  24. It warms the cockels of my heart to hear what LEGAL immigrants have to say about Obama’s plans for illegal immigrants.

Obama is soooooo far out of control, it aint in the least bit funny. Although you have to give him credit as the greatest manipulator of all time.

every schoolchild knows that the statue of Liberty was a gift from France. how is it even possible for Obama to get that wrong? most of us have known that since we learned about George Washington and the cherry tree–wonder if Obama’s ever heard that one.

this is just another example of Obama’s distinctive non-Americanness. can you imagine Obama on Christmas morning under the tree? can you imagine him wearing the coonskin cap he got by saving up box tops and watching “Davy Crockett” on TV? can you imagine him at the kitchen table memorizing the Pledge of Allegiance? by saying that being American is not a matter of “blood or birth” he exposes the fact that he really doesn’t have a clue. I guess that when we became citizens of the world, the citizens of the world became Americans. this guy is a disgrace.

btw, to the troll “Miriam Rove”: if you really wanted to have an intelligent discussion with grownups, you’d stay on topic. but you don’t, really, because what you want to talk about, always, is your hatred of Jews. maybe you should consider posting on Kos or TPM, where people will appreciate your anti-Semitism. most of us here have heard much worse–and frankly you’re getting a little boring.

Obama says that being an American is a matter of faith. I think that most Americans would assume that the faith that makes one an American is faith in the founding principles as laid out in the founding documents, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of rights; a faith Obama clearly does not share. Ronald Reagan
said something similar, I don’t remember the exact words but the essence was that America is more than just a place, it also is a state of mind. A state of mind not shared by illiterate illegals and certainly not by Obama’s favorites, the Muslims, and definitely not by Obama.

I would like to throw out this thought about religious tolerance and immigration.
Many early immigrants to these shores came because they were members of religious minorities who were discriminated against in their home countries. They came seeking only the freedom to practice their beliefs, amongst themselves, in peace.
Muslims, on the other hand, come from countries which are predominantly if not exclusively Muslim. They are not leaving their home countries to escape persecution. They are, after all, the ones who have been persecuting those in their countries who have the audacity to choose another belief. Muslims come to non-Muslim countries for two reasons. 1. Because the teachings of Islam, when the law of the land, preclude the establishment of an economy capable sustaining a significant population, and 2. Muslims come to non-Muslim countries to establish a fifth column and ultimately bring religious persecution to their host country. World domination is their unambiguously stated goal.
It appears they are succeeding, while we in the west wring our hands about how to best accommodate them.

Alright, another ‘reform’ (code for: muscle through, people’s words/ opinions be d amned) on the Obama docket. Illegal alien reform. Or as he and Gutierrez call it, ‘Migrant reform’ -

Will these ‘upstanding’ illegals if given the chance at citizenship renounce the welfare dollar?

Start making their kids breakfasts, lunches instead of the feds feeding their kids?

The high number of Hispanic teen pregnancies will be due to the child and their parents poor decisions and not the school ‘..not educating the lower class properly’..?

The YEARS of not paying car registration, insurance – will this be retroactively applied and fined?

Will emergency rooms be treated for emergency needed personnel once again? And will illegals FINALLY pay for their prior medical expenses/bills?

The companies employing illegal aliens, will they too be charged for their hand in destroying the blue collar workforce?

The millions (I’m still trying to fathom how 10+ years ago there were ’12 million’ illegal aliens and today there are 11 million..? Riiiight) of illegal aliens using stolen/phony social security cards, expired green cards, phony Mexican Consulate cards, etc., Will these folks be punished or this too swept under the rug?

Will colleges provide an EQUAL amount of courses pertaining to American, Hispanic history courses finally?

College entrance exams will have the same pass/fail numbers ACROSS the BOARD?

I know, don’t hold my breath.

Many politicos say America can’t deport all illegals due to monetary and ethical reasons. I believe it’s far cheaper than my tip of the iceberg list.

As for the ethical ramifications, I believe that’s a 2-way street. Their thumbing their nose at our laws, borders is despicable.

I can’t wrap my head around catering to the illegal population that TAKES so much and gives little/none in return. And yet feels it deserves more..?

    Asinine.

Who are the racists? I notice that all the immigrants in the 1890-1920
time-frame came in thru Ellis Island. They had their health checked. They were quarantined in necessary. Later they wre sent back at Steamship-line expense. Then the SS Lines set up villages by the docks to make sure the passengers were well enough to travel and stay.
    These were mostly white Europeans.
Now we have a flood of brown people from the south. No health checks, no sending back if they are ill.No documents. No screening.
    So who is racist.

This would be just the first dip for Obama, after the Democrats have the majority it will be all the Palestinians and any other Moslem extremest. To far fetched? Looked what he’s done with a majority in Congress already and most of those are “Christians,” just think of what he and Eric Holder could do with another bunch of really great Moslem’s numbering in the millions. It’s the 51% mark that is being shot for, then he could be President for life like most of the people he admires, this is someone that your can’t give the benefit of the doubt to anymore, you have to look at the projections of where this country will end up if everything he’s pushing comes to pass.

    Mr. rove “a foriger”?

    Been here “32 years”?

    No, not really.

How does one express “collapse” and “coolapse” in the same sentence with “collaps” in the next sentence without a purpose?

Same old story line. A person who is politically left who loves the country and is trying to educate “you and the rest on Neo Cons here” who are basically ruining the country (“but you don’t get it”), while tossing in the “loyaties is to Israel” line as well.

    Sounds familiar.

From my experience, 99% of immigrants whom I have been associated with, who have been for 32 years would be thoroughly embarrassed by showing the lack of at least a minimum command of written English to an audience such as PJM.

Who are you Mr. rove? Hmmm…. “Let’s get real…”

  35. 35. David Perry

In unfairness to Morrissey’s point, at least during the era of immigration that we associate with the Statue of Liberty, unless you were Asian, it was very easy to immigrate here legally–pretty much only anarchists, criminals, and people with mental or contagious illness didn’t get in. If I remember correctly from my last trip to Ellis Island, 93% of the people who went there got in.
In fairness to his point, the wave of immigration that came during that time spooked the people who were already here to such a degree that they cut it off. While the tactics they used really were racist, or at least ethnicist (the exclusion of Asians, and the setting of quotas that favored Northern Europeans over Southern and Eastern Europeans), in fairness to them, one wonders what would have happened if the flow had continued unchecked (although you could argue that the Depression would have dried it up anyway.) Interestingly enough, they didn’t put restrictions on Mexicans; that only came with the modern quotas.
It is also true that being American is a matter of “faith”, or at least beliefs, as opposed to ethnicity. The problem is that what Obama and his supporters have “faith” is not the same as what many of the rest of us believe in. It’s also true that in the old days, this country had a much greater commitment to pushing people to assimilate then it does now–I’d feel a lot better about the current wave of immigration if that was still the case, not to mention if we still had the lack of welfare statism that we did then. I’d also feel a lot better if so much of the current wave wasn’t coming from basically the same culture, but was more evenly divided up among Europeans, Asians, Africans, and Latin Americans.

  36. 36. Vinny B.

The only racism here are the commenters here and the people who keep trying to bring Obama down because he is black. Everytime someone opposes Obama, they mention he has family ties to Kenya (code work he’s black), family ties to Indonesia (code for he’s Muslim), was born in Hawaii (implying he isn’t a real American if they even actually believe he was born there). Rich White Right Wing Republicans don’t like how non-whites vote, so they want to keep them out as much as possible. That’s why they racially slur Obama every chance they get, unless they don’t have the guts, then they just find a way to work in every argument that Obama is black. If Obama is not re-elected, it will be ovious to everyone that America is as racist as it always was.

Yes they will attempt to portray anti-immigrationists as racists. Expect it. And expect them to succeed too. This is the the left we’re talking about. If they do one thing well, it’s playing the game of identity politics. They are undefeated in that regard. They have 95% of African Americans voting for the copperhead party, against the party of Lincoln. They have almost 90% of Hispanics, one of the most socially conservative ethnic groups in this country, voting for them. The only way to win this game is not to play. Orly Taitz obtained registered copy of Zero’s birth certificate, Mombasa, Kenya:
    http://jdlong.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/possiblebhokenyanbirthcertificate1.jpg
Dated Feb 17, 1964. Why is the date significant?
It fits in with the time line for the Obama Sr./Stanley Ann Dunham divorce proceedings from Jan 20-March 20, 1964. The judge must know who parents are before he awards child support/custody and that is disclosed by a birth certificate.
Just so happens these divorce papers skip page 11 with a missing page in back, which would have been said birth certificate:
    http://www.scribd.com/doc/18130289/Obama-1964-Divorce-Papers-13-Pages-Missing-Pg-11
Scrubbed from the record. Barry’s minions have been busy.
This registered birth certificate copy has been presented in court under oath. It has real stamps and signatures of real people. In addition we have excellent PROVENANCE of it being filed and requested in a previous court proceeding LONG BEFORE THE ISSUE OF OBAMA’S NATURAL BORN CITIZENSHIP.
There is no provenance of any document presented by Obama in court or otherwise. No birth certificate; not even his online short form has been filed with evidentiary certificate under oath in any court proceeding. Which is because it’s a forgery.
That’s the great thing about COMMON SENSE and DEDUCTION, you don’t have to be document analysis expert to know what document is a forgery.

Zero himself is technically an undocumented illegal; that is, while he is registered in Hawaii Dept of Health database (birth place being anywhere), the EVVE system (which Hawaii uses, and law enforcement) flags his record as void; that is, there is no complete record, no normal prima facie birth certificate, as he has an incomplete, AMENDED, and and late filed birth certificate.
Which is why former 2008 HI senior elections clerk Tim Adams states: “There is no birth certificate,” the graduate assistant who teaches English at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky, states “It’s like an open secret. There isn’t one. Everyone in the government there knows this.”
    http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=165041
And we know Zero’s birth record was AMENDED, thus rendering his posted “proof” online Certification of Live Birth short form (vetted and authenticated by no official)
    http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu231/firewaller/barack-obama-birth-certificate_472x.jpg
as a forgery. Responses from Hawaii Dept of Health concerning receipts/invoices, which confirmed Obama’s long form birth certificate was amended in 2006, with no such amendment stated on this online short form.
We know that Barry’s posted online short form is a forgery by comparisons to other birth certificates filed with Barry’s having an impossible as date filed and/or certificate number falsified as his short form has a later number than other BC’s found.
And we know Barry’s posted online short form is a forgery by not being presented in court with an evidentiary affidavit as proof, instead paying millions in lawyer fees on nearly 70 cases concerning his eligibility. (That’s the great thing about common sense.)
This was the problem Zero ran into when he amended his birth record in 2006, the short form would have been inadmissable prima facie evidence, people would start asking questions so he put up a forgery with someone else’s birth certificate number, vetted” by 2 hacks at Factcheck.org in Chicago, Jess Henig, M.A. in English Literature and Joe Miller Ph. and still refuses to submit a long form birth certificate (certificate of live birth).
Major media heads and D.C. know he’s ineligible. At what point will the general populace get the whole picture? This wasn’t an election. This was a coup.

“Being an American is not a matter of blood or birth, it’s a matter of faith,” Usurper-in-thief Obama declared.
    No surprise.
I’m curious if some of the American citizenry has realized in some corner of their mind that Zero’s non-allegiances and references may have something to do with NOT being BORN on U.S. soil.
That his corrupt ties (Blago connection for Senate seat, which Zero knew all about, no reference in major media), blatant lies, and scheming may also be to his past?
At some point, people are going to have to come to term with the fact Zero’s allegiances are not to the U.S., being the first candidate with a Foreign national (his father) at the time of his birth (not 2 American citizen parents at time of his birth), and being born on foreign soil in Kenya both violate the Natural Born Citizen clause, Article 2, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution; jus sanguis, the issue of blood, and jus solis, the issue of soil.
The framers designed the President as sole executer and because of this wanted allegiance to the U.S., thus Natural Born Citizenship, as the position did not have numerical checks and balances that other branches of government possess.
Even the Obots can’t argue on the merits of why Zero won’t show PRIMA FACIE evidence of a U.S. birth. They can’t (nor can White House spokesclown Robert Gibbs) even name his birth hospital. Surely some tiny rational thought might spark once in a blue moon, “what if this guy lied.” Oh the fear.
Fact is, we know Zero was born at Coast Provincial General Hospital in Mombasa, modern day Kenya. He has admitted such as Senator and previously; we have witnesses with first hand knowledge with signed affadavits presented in court.

    No doctor.
    No circumstances of his birth.

Quick question folks… Stanley Ann Dunham (after moving with parents from Mercer Island, WA state to Hawaii in 1960) is age 18, gets pregnant out of wedlock by a UK national of African race in Hawaii, it’s 1961…. how do you think the parents felt?
    Exactly. Clue #1.
In addition, Obama Sr. was ALREADY married, bride was in Kenya. Supposedly, he and Ann were married in Maui Feb. 2, 1961 (marriages, like birth certificates, are sealed in Hawaii…however, from the divorce papers we know they were in fact married).
For Obama Sr. to marry Ann in Hawaii would be the crime of BIGAMY. Clue #2.
In addition, Stanley Ann met Obama Sr. in Russian class Fall quarter at the University of Hawaii, and yet is not enrolled for the Spring quarter 1961. We know this from college transcripts:
    http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr131/stevesharp2918/DunhamUnivofHawaiiFOIA.jpg
Why did Stanley Ann, only pregnant as of October, and just starting enrollment fall quarter, not attend U of HI, spring quarter?
Indeed, Stanley Ann Dunham does not show up until Sept of 1961 at the University of Washington in transcripts:
    http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr131/stevesharp2918/ObamaPix/AnnaObamaUnivofWashington-highlight.jpg
    Where was she?
The fact is Stanley Ann Dunham, estranged from parents, went over holiday break to Kenya with Obama Sr. and were married there. Obama Sr. returned to classes Spring 1961 Univ of HI while Ann stayed. She came to term in late July, intending to return home but was denied boarding because of her condition. This was confirmed by witnesses, a missionary in fact.
Ann gave birth at Coast Provincial General Hospital, outside Mombasa, modern Kenya (at that time, this region was Zanzibar) on August 4 (Aug 3, U.S. pacific time). The hospital was trained staff from the British Colonial service. Ann quickly returned home, return flight from Nairobi to Glascow, to Vancouver, and back to Mercer Island, WA state.
Stanley Ann arrived in Seattle before she had learned to changed diapers, the first week of August, friend Susan Blake testimony:

Ann than proceeded possibly to Hawaii as her and/or her mother made the following birth certificate filing Aug 8:

Ann, then as Ann Obama, would continue living and studying in WA state. Fall 1961 — a Listing for Stanley Ann Obama appears in the 1961 Polk directory at the Seattle Public Library:

The scrubbing of ZERO’s background most certainly coordinated by John Brennan, his security advisor who is now deputy national security adviser for homeland security and counterterrorism
and former CIA goon, who’s firm was responsible for Barry’s passport breach summer of 2008:

    Dakotahgeo,
quick question for you lightweight (making threats on the net? laughable):
    Zero’s short form presented:
    http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu231/firewaller/barack-obama-birth-certificate_472x.jpg
Images posted online, Who’s examined and authenticated this document Obot?
oh this would be “verified” by 2 “document analysis experts” — hacks at Factcheck.org, Jess Henig, M.A. in English Literature and Joe Miller Ph. D. in Political Philosophy:

    http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu231/firewaller/JoeMillerwithObamasBC.jpg
And What official has verified this document as real Obot?
    NO ONE. OOPS.
Dakotahgeo, please state your reasoning for believing such a chain of evidence.
    Please explain.
    And …
do you also believe in BIGFOOT?

Mr. Voight, congrats… but ZEro’s actions are not surprising. His ALLEGIANCES WERE NEVER TO THE U.S. He is the first OVERT Candidate elected with a foreign national at the time of his birth, his father…(Chester Arthur later discovered to have lied); in addition, Zero is born on foreign soil, modern day Kenya.
For his financial backing from Muslim world, puppet Obama’s motives and actions are now clear:
*LIBYA got their Lockerbie Bomber released which Obama could have stopped and did not. Khadaffi calls Obama a Muslim son. Obama gave Khadaffi $2.5 million. Obama campaigned for Khadaffi-backed Odinga.
*SYRIA gets an ambassador with full diplomatic rights and Boeing contracts which stunned the diplomatic community as it appears Obama did all this for “nothing”, when it was all payback.
*Obama bows to the Saudi King. 9/11 terrorists offers American rights, due process; rest of Gitmo terrorists planned for Il Correctional facility.
*Obama negotiates with terrorists in Hamas, gives Hamas $20 million in relocation assistance.
*IRAN: Obama allows Iran to develop its weapons unfettered; cuts off funding for Iranian dissidents.
    Lots more…..

I think I got it all, its a good read.

There are no more frontiers in the U.S.,anyone who advocates immigration in any form advocates the Eco-Apocalypse taking place in our country. BP = Barry’s Payoff

  46. 46. Bettie

A simple, kind, solution to Arizona’s immigration problem and one that should keep everybody happy — I’m surprised no one has thought of it. Arizona should have buses at the border, ready with refreshments, to take the immigrants to places where they will be welcomed, i.e., California, Pennsylvania Ave, and the hometowns of some that have spoken out, etc.

    • Nobody

      Bettie,
Your plan doesn’t handle the fact the illegals wouldn’t be as much of a burden on the locales you suggest but rather more of one on the federal taxpayer since that’s where their support funds are being generated.

  47. Does anyone else feel like this will never get properly addressed? Politicians talk a great game pre-election on immigration reform but are too scared to take a stance after being elected. Broken system.

  48. 48. harvey

LOL @ Bettie’s comment on 46. Lemonade stand at the AZ border!!

  49. I’m still waiting to hear a viable solution for this mess. Someone above mentioned that all our recent President’s have had trouble witm immigration reform but this silliness is about to hit critical mass.

  50. As an Arizona resident who depends on the travel industry for my livelihood, I can tell you first hand that this lack of direction is having a major impact on my business. McCain for whomever needs to rule on immigration reform quickly and fairly.

  51. I do accept as true with all the ideas you have presented in your post. They are very convincing and can definitely work. Still, the posts are too quick for starters. May you please lengthen them a little from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.

  52. No president has been able to sort this out alone, we need our politicians to actually do something on this other than provide ‘lip service’ during election years.

  53. So has anyone heard any of the 2012 candidate’s offer a real solution for this?

  54. 54. Kolbe

Praying that this gets addressed in 2012 elections. States should not be able to have such vastly different policies.

  55. Obama made a change about being the first black president. Now he is trying to do something about immigrants, racism, etc.

  56. Woah this weblog is wonderful i like studying your posts. Stay up the good work! You realize, a lot of individuals are searching round for this info, you can help them greatly.
