Obama’s Amateur Hour on 60 Minutes
What’s really going on? Barack Obama’s administration, along with Chris Dodd, put a provision in the stimulus bill allowing companies like AIG to collect bonuses. After it became known and the public got angry, the same Democrats who supported that provision pretended to be outraged and whipped up a fury. Now, they’ve come up with a “bill of attainder” that clearly violates the Constitution and Mr. “Constitutional Law Professor” fully intends to sign it if it makes it to his desk. Is any of that communicated in his answer? No — and that’s why listening to Barack Obama actually tells us very little about what he intends to do.
However, there were a couple of instructive moments in the interview when one was able to get a sense of the instinctual leftism that is guiding Barack Obama, now that he’s so far out of his depth that he can’t even see the surface.
The first was when Kroft noted that a lot of people in the banking industry are not going to stay in New York and work for $250,000 a year if they can make more money elsewhere — so does Obama really want to set salary caps for them? Obama’s condescending response, which sounded like something that should be in Mao’s Little Red Book, Volume 2, was as follows:
What I’ve told them directly, because I have heard some of this, is they need to spend a little time outside of New York. Because if you go to North Dakota or you go to Iowa or if you go to Arkansas, where folks would be thrilled to be making $75,000 a year without a bonus, then I think they’d get a sense of why people are frustrated. I think we have to understand the severity of the crisis that we’re in right now. The fact is, because of bad bets made on Wall Street, there have been enormous losses. There were a whole bunch of folks who, on paper, if you looked at quarterly reports, were wildly successful selling derivatives that turned out to be completely worthless.
First of all, it’s worth noting that Obama earned 2.5 million dollars from his book sales in 2008 and brings home a cool $400,000 a year for being president. What do you think the folks down in North Dakota, Iowa, and Arkansas think of that? Why is Barack Obama more deserving of that money than someone who works at a bank? If you say they’re taking the public’s money, well — newsflash — every government employee, including Barack Obama, is taking the public’s money. Setting those sort of arbitrary salary limits for bank employees — driven not by the market, but by what some economically illiterate politician thinks is “fair” — is practically guaranteed to have adverse consequences down the line.
Beyond that, it’s extraordinarily troubling, given our current situation, that Obama is trying to pawn this entire crisis off on Wall Street when Congress created the whole mess by forcing banks to give loans to people who were bad risks. That’s not to say irresponsible people on Wall Street are completely blameless, but “bad bets on Wall Street” certainly weren’t at the root of this economic downturn.
So, here’s where we are: the same government that created this crisis with their incompetence is now blaming it all on Wall Street and promising to fix it. No wonder the American people are terrified that we’re about to slip into a long-term depression.
The other illuminating moment in the interview came when Kroft brought up Dick Cheney’s criticism of closing Guantanamo Bay. Again, the unbearable lightness of Barack Obama came shining through like a beacon. Here is the first key quote from Obama’s response,
After all these years, how many convictions came out of Guantanamo? How many terrorists have actually been brought to justice under the philosophy that is being promoted by Vice President Cheney? It hasn’t made us safer.
If Obama believes that the purpose of Gitmo is to get “convictions” of terrorists, you have to question whether he has even the most basic understanding of the war on terror he’s currently in charge of fighting.
Gitmo is there to hold captured terrorists, to keep them from killing more Americans, and for interrogations that are designed to gain information for that same purpose. Obviously, terrorists held at Guantanamo can’t participate in new attacks, but even the limited amount of info that has been revealed publicly has shown that we’ve gotten a lot of actionable intelligence from interrogations at Gitmo,
Interrogating Gitmoites yields priceless intelligence. Al-Qaeda bigwig Abu Zubaydah kept mum until interrogators played him the Red Hot Chili Peppers – at high volume. After they turned down the stereo, Zubaydah unmasked al Qaeda agents Omar al-Faruq, Rahim al-Nashiri and Ramzi bin al-Shibh.
Khalid Sheik Mohammed switched from taciturn to talkative after a few minutes of unpleasant but non-fatal waterboarding. With his guidance, counter-terrorists nabbed accused butchers such as Majid Khan, Bali bomber Hambali, Rusman “Gun Gun” Gunawan, Yazid Suffat, Jose “Dirty Bomber” Padilla and Iyman Faris, who conspired to plunge the Brooklyn Bridge into the East River.
This is what we’re abandoning — but, for what? When Kroft asked Obama what comes next for the terrorists imprisoned at Gitmo, he didn’t seem to know,
Well, I think we’re going to have to figure out a mechanism to make sure that they are not released on U.S. (inaudible), but do so in a way that is consistent both with our traditions, a sense of due process, and international law.
So Obama has announced we’re closing Gitmo, but he still hasn’t figured out what comes next? Isn’t that a bit of an issue, since we have these terrorists in hand, will presumably be capturing more, and even the New York Times is admitting that European nations are “hedging” on helping us with Gitmo inmates? Shouldn’t Obama have thought this all the way through before he decided to close down Guantanamo Bay?
For people looking for signs of straight talk, competence, or substance from the glib teleprompter junky who inhabits the White House, sadly there was precious little of it in his 60 Minutes performance.

I’m stunned that 60 Minutes didn’t script this encounter! Stunned, I tell you!
Obviously, the entire love affair by/for/with the press is not completely over. However, what I see as truly frightening is when he says “you don’t want to be passing laws that are just targeting a handful of individuals.” so what? Does he want to be passing laws (Which should be accomplished by the legislative branch and NOT the executive branch but that is a different matter altogether) that will allow them to selectively target ALL Americans based on what “bubba gubmint” thinks is fair? That is a truly frightening statement!
Good grief! Could we please have a chorus of “Puff the Magic Dragon” just about now?
I am torn–I have said repeatedly that I wish he would QUIT TALKING and GET TO WORK. Now that we have a sense of what his work looks like, maybe I want him to keep talking.
This is the worst President in my lifetime. He inspires me to give $ to the Republican party today. There is not a moment to waste to get this guy out of office and on his own TV show, produced by Harpo.
President Empty Suit. The suit was empty from the get go and the burdens of office haven’t filled it.
People like John Hawkins behave like girls in high school: jealous, petty minded, lying freaks, distorting what someone says, starting rumors and plain stupid. Demeaning the President with dirty tricks shows your low life stance. What a piece of trash you wrote. This doesn’t help the credibility of the Pajamas site.
After Sarah Palin entered the picture during the elections, I let go pretty fast of the idea that McCain might be a good option and supported Obama instead.
Thanks but no thanks, can’t have someone as the theocratic-leaning Palin in power.
Yet, given Obama’s “La La Land” speech to Iran and lots of other things, I fear his inexperience is beginning to show. Good to luck to him though. I wish him the best.
America is gonna need to get out of the economic hole it dug up and found itself in.
I have a feeling that interview is going viral and, for those not yet convinced, will be the big “aha moment” that Obambi really doesn’t have a clue and we are in serious trouble (more than before).
One word sentence:
IDIOT!
I’m waiting for the Martha Stewart interview/ cook-off. I’m sure that will plumb the depths of Barry’s soul.
“Are you punch-drunk?” – “No, I’m doing very well, and you all are just a bunch of losers. I can do and say whatever I want, because I won, and I have an army of believers who stare now at the tube, teary eyed, and say to each other, how nice I am, how smart I am, how cute I am, how well I handle stuff. I surrounded myself with people who know ten times better than me and others the issues, no rules of conduct apply to me, and I’ll sail through this. I will get the Nobel prize, I will be the United Nations Secretary, I’ll push for a planetary presidency, and I’ll get that too!”
“No, I’m not punch drunk – I am a lucky bastard and you’re just some losers, and I simply do whatever I please. Got it?”
You guys would do well to get this silver-tongued clown out of office in three years time before he utterly f*cks your country up.
His appeasment statements to Iran and his calls for an exit strategy from Afghanistan is beginning to make the United States look like gutless cowards again – just like you did when Pelosi, Reid and the rest of your Democrats were squeeling about running away from Iraq. Nothing emboldens your enemies more than the type of weakness this man and his party is showing.
George Bush wasn’t a great president by any means but at least he scared the hell out of your enemies and kept you safe.
I wish to sincerely apologize for predicting after the election that a majority of Americans would be pining for GWB within 2 years of Obama taking office. Clearly, I was off by at least 18 months.
I hope The One does sign the ex post facto tax on the AIG bonuses into law. He clearly intends to use it as a precedent to take punitive (and unconstitutional) measures against other firms, and groups, whom he dislikes. It will be interesting to see how he reacts when the Supreme Court slaps him down- hard.
(“What part of Article 1, Section 9, paragraph 3 of the Constitution of the United States do you not understand, Mr. President? It can’t be that hard- you’re supposedly a Constitutional scholar, and it’s only one sentence totaling twelve words.”)
The overall impression The One leaves is of a fundamentally incompetent, radical ideologue who believes that as long as he follows his dogma, he is not required to actually think, and in fact resents anyone even suggesting he should give it a try. His lack of ability or even interest in this area, whatever his IQ and education may be, is painfully apparent whenever he opens his mouth, with or without a teleprompter to read from. (Without it, he’s lost; with it, he will say whatever comes across it, even if it makes no sense whatever.) And between the fawning media and his “vetted” supporters (whose “vetting” apparently only went as far as asking, “Do you agree with The One 1110% on everything?”), there is apparently no one he listens to who is capable of explaining reality to him- or even capable of recognizing reality when it slaps them in the face.
If 52% of the American electorate are not suffering buyer’s remorse at this point, they should be. I am not- as the old saying goes, I voted for the other guy.

Vivo, you miserable Obamabot, you’re already out in cyberspace trying to muffle Soetoro’s idiocies? Sad lot you and the others who signed with Soetoro are – full time job of obfuscating, distorting and lying!
That’s why experience matters, particularly executive experience, and it’s a big part of the reason why Barack Obama has done such a mediocre job so far.
An experienced socialist would only appear to be less obviously destroying the American economy with his clueless run away deficit spending.
Next up should be Dancing With The Stars, just to restore a little gravitas.
So, Obama has announced we’re closing Gitmo, but he still hasn’t figured out what comes next? Isn’t that a bit of an issue, since we have these terrorists in hand, will presumably be capturing more, and even the New York Times is admitting that European nations are “hedging” on helping us with Gitmo inmates? Clearly, it was more important to prove, On Day One, with an upside down flourishing of the presidential pen, that The Messiah is the Unbush.
The difference between a private individual’s income is that he has to pay for his cook, housekeeper, nanny, etc.
The White House cook, candy shop, flower shop are not taken from the President’s wage. Neither is the estimated $60,000 per hour cost to run Air Force One to take trips like the Leno/60 minutes appearances.
Why did Daschle get into trouble? Not knowing where private and public gratuities are. Something Congress and the Administration needs to check on before they comment.
Steve Kroft should have just interviewed Obama’s Teleprompter. He would have gotten more straightforward, honest, and, yes, “presidential” answers.

I’m sorry – could you be specific? What distortions were here?
Obama is closing GITMO without a plan for what comes next.
The Obama administration specifically allowed the AIG bonuses – Obama himself says he wasn’t surprised by them and he is playing fast and loose with the constitution to tax a hand full of people (Vivo – are you saying that is untrue or a distortion?)
Vivo – I am really trying to understand your point here. You make some attacks that I don’t see. What are you talking about?
GDT
Are you still glad you voted for Obama? [chuckle]
“…economic hole we dug ourselves into…”
WHO dug it? NOT ME! The miscreant Congress and the spoiled brats out of Harvard, etc., dug it.
Now ‘toxic investments’ are going to be force fed to everyone’s pension fund, and inflation is going to put every citizen with a fixed income on dogfood.
When are Bwany Fwank, Dodd, NY Fed Gheitner, Reins, etc., etc., etc. GOING TO JAIL ?????
One of the major criticisms during the campaign was that Obama has no executive experience. That point was softened by his well run campaign. Guess what, that criticism was right. Obama has no clue how to run a government. We are seeing full-blown amateur hour. It’s frightening. Expect the bad guys to take advantage and the American people to turn even angrier than they are already. We ain’t seen nothing yet.

I’ve read quite a few of your comments. While I don’t often agree with your conclusions, I recognize that you have a thought out position and defend it articulately.
This though…you’re not stupid and the shooting the messenger shtick is nonsensical. Hawkins is not distorting anything. There are no dirty tricks. Hawkins actually doesn’t begin to express how disturbing that interview with a sitting president was.
Again, you’re a smart guy. So you got bamboozled. A little over 50% of the voters did. Get over it and start looking at the guy in the WH – his policies and abilities and what they mean to everyone’s future – with the obvious intelligence that you own,
The sitting president of the US could not handle a SOFTBALL interview addressing questions of vital concern every american citizen and a hell of a lot of the rest of the world with the coherence and gravitas expected of the person who is charged with answering those questions. You need to integrate that fact, not project your unease into attacking those that already have.
He’s a Hollywood actor (and Soros/Podesta/Axelrod/Emmnauel puppet) playing President.
People, this guy is scary. Sociopath scary.
Thanks “free press” for watchdogging our POTUS election…..not.
I live in Iowa. Trust me, 75k doesn’t go as far as O-blah-blah thinks it does out here, either, not with our state taxes, outlandish car registration fees, and all of the other ridiculous nickel and dime charges you get out here. It’s not like I’m living in the sticks, either. This is one of the urban areas.
If someone makes 400k in NYC, I could care less. If they can’t make it on that, I have trouble understanding that, sure. But I don’t stay up at nights being all ticked off that some goober somewhere else is making more money than we do and getting morally offended about it.
However, I DO get morally offended when some politician apparently believes that a few moments of yukking it up with a late night talk show host is going to make me all happy about the economy.
#6 vivo, please explain how John distorted 0bama’s words or spread any rumors.
Two words on 0bama that I’ve been saying for over a year- “Not Qualified”.
9. It will be interesting to see how his idea of using a little “gallows humor to get through the day” comes in to play the first time he’s photographed alongside the caskets of returning KIA’s that he sent to Afghanistan. Will that be part of his grief counseling to the families?
My favorite line about Gitmo demonstrated how the ‘Savior’ completely misunderstands our devoted enemies. He said something to the effect of, “Do we want the arab world, the muslim world to have more reason to hate us (by keeping it open)?”
Hey, sympathizer, they already hate us, and not because of anything we did. They hate us because we exist and their holy book instructs them to do so.
Obama wants to talk with all of them and try to understand their hatred? It is not a secret, they tell us daily. He is the sort of person who would have read mein kampf and been surprised that hitler would use the jews as scapegoats.
He is dangerous. Not for our enemies, unfortunately.
worst.president.ever
Hey Vivo, you mean kinda like calling the president “chimp”, “Bush died, people died” type of thing?
Joke One:
On 60 Minutes “Obama was pressed by an incredulous Steve Kroft for laughing and chuckling several times while discussing the perilous state of the world’s economy.
Setting up Joke Two:
“You’re sitting here. And you’re— you are laughing. You are laughing about some of these problems. Are people going to look at this and say, ‘I mean, he’s sitting there just making jokes about money—’ How do you deal with— I mean: explain. . .” Kroft asks at one point.
Joke Two Starts:
“Are you punch-drunk?” Kroft says.
“No, no. There’s gotta be a little gallows humor to get you through the day,” Obama says, with a laugh.” ”
Just off his comedy stint on the Leno show, Obama, the most controversial figure in history, continues his comedic monologue with words you’ve never really heard coming from a smart president.
Punch-Drunk…. Gallows humor ?….. wow . Did he have a tele -prompter ? That’s the real question here.

The Usurper-in-Chief is truly disingenuous and pathetic in a one-on-one interview.
BTW – neither you nor he have an iota of credibility on this or any other site. You both seem to be suffering from an
advanced form of cranial rectitis.
S.M.
If this “… mechanism to make sure that they are not released on US…but do so in a way that is consistent both with our traditions, a sense of due process, and international law…” was a menu item, would you eat it? Would it come in a bowl? Served in a hubcap? Rammed into someone’s boot? Where do people go to learn to speak this gibberish? It can’t be Congress because that’s where gibberish speakers emigrate to.
Dirty Lying Muslim: Your hit on Sarah Palin is ridiculous. Nowhere is there evidence of a theocratic tendency. Do some research and you’ll find evidence for the opposite in the governor’s firm support of the Alaska Constitution. Every smear against Palin has been debunked. These Wasilla hillbillies are actually a very modern American family who happen to be practicing Christians. Bush was smeared as theocratic, he’s a Methodist for Christ’s sake! We have a devotee of Saul Alinsky in the White House who worships Marxism in the tradition of his idiot father. That’s the theocracy we need to be challenging vigorously.
If Jimmie Carter had only gone on Johnny Carson and 60 Minutes like Obama we would have been able to dump him as quickly as it appears we will be rid of JCII
When we finally started trying the Gitmo detainee, The One stepped in and stopped the trials – including the trial of the guy who set up the bombing of the U.S. Cole. However, the basis purpose of Club Gitmo was to put these guys away where they couldn’t do any damage and to gather intelligence, both goals which were accomplished. Obama has done nothing so far except to spend us into unfathomable debt, start moving toward socialism, weakening our defenses and alienating our friends (e.g., Gordon Brown). I’m now calling BHO by a new abbreviation: TIWTNF – the Idiot With The Nuclear Football.
Obama is a leftist lawyer, so it shouldn’t be surprising that he sees the war on terror as a legal matter. So did that other Democrat leftist lawyer, Bill Clinton. Look where that got us.
My parents voted for this guy and they are beating their breasts over it now. NOW they are saying “does this guy even LIKE America?” Everything he is doing is counter-intuitive, of full of double-talk.
My parents wish they could take their vote back.
I wish they could do it, too.
No McCain fan, here. I was appalled that he was our nominee. But for damn sure, McCain would not be actively working to destroy American business, American industry and the American spirit, today.
And I’m betting his wife would not wear “kicky boots” to plant a garden, either.
“Demeaning the President with dirty tricks shows your low life stance. What a piece of trash you wrote. This doesn’t help the credibility of the Pajamas site.”
How does QUOTING the president “demean” him with “dirty tricks?”
If you can’t handle seeing your guy being quoted, you’re in for a hard four years, son.
So is Obama, who seems constitutionally incapable of enduring criticism.
He hasn’t the balls of his predecessor.
More evidence of the O’hole’s haplessness, and lack of fitness.I wonder whether the leftwing plutocrats who program this clown( like George Soros),are beginning to doubt his ability to serve as their ventriloquist’s dummy?
#6 VIVO: Negative criticism from libtard interlopers,is proof of PJM article’s effectiveness. Way to go Hawkins!
For those who still give Governor Palin little credit for having a solid head on her shoulders, in an interview with Greta on Fox News prior to Obama’s signing the “stimulus” bill, Greta asked the Governor her thoughts and she said, “I wish he’d veto it… and send it back until all of our lawmakers can read it and know what’s in it…” This is the type of leadership and guts we need in Washington! Plus, Governor Palin is an excellent communicator; she doesn’t need a teleprompter to tell the American people her ideas and positions, and spell out very succinctly why her ideas and positions are the best course to take. With McCain’s Senate experience, including his military experience, and Palin’s level-headedness, that was the ticket of the century (even if McCain is himself a softball…).

Kroft to Obama: Are you punch-drunk?
That Quote will last forever and Rightly So ….
Last night We witnessed and unparalleled event like never in American TV History ….. Frankly I was left completely Dumbfounded with Obama’s “Untimely “Humor , Silliness ,laughter” and worse his well prepared acting out child like Naivety or understanding as to the depth of this Historic Catastrophic event .
One of three things (maybe more ) was going on in Obama obvious Unschooled , unlearned and unknowing mind .
I guess his real Brain Trust David Axelrod didn’t Coach him with …. You don’t Laugh at sad Historic events when Millions of Americans have lost their life saving and Jobs ….. then their homes (the ones that were actually being paid for them and not those Minorities getting the “Community reinvestments homes” that were never paid fore even with a penny as a down payment .
We are told that when Pyromaniacs see fires they started themselves or by others. They gleam with Joy ,Laugher, happiness and sick Fantasy’s .
But worse of all {is } when our Economy is tanking like never since the great depression .
Obama has purposed ” Quad Tripling The Social Welfare and Entitlement “spending programs ? Quad Tripping in only (70 days ) far more than Carter , Bill Clinton and and Both Bush’s did in 24 years .
In Fact I as a Conservative must admit , Bill Clinton Followed Former RePUBLICAN Governor Tommy Thompson’s of Michigan’s model of cutting Welfare and Entitlement 31 % . That is all out the window now with A UNBELIEVABLE 2 plus Trillion dollars in New Social
Welfare and Entitlement Federal Government Programs being spent while keeping the old Spending programs intact as well . This is shameful !
Banking , AIG , Credit , Mortgages , Homes ? Really nothing has been settled with those huge economy killing issues after those 70 days and it has gotten far worse in his first 70 days in office …. I guess first things first with Obama’ own “Needs ” and obvious Socialist agenda .
These massive spending programs does nothing for the “Present “economy for many years what so ever and actually hurts it in
the long run since the Interest on Two plus Trillions dollars is $ 100 plus Billion dollars a year .
Y. Lien is worth quoting here {1913}.
We shall take over and Control this Country when it is in It’s deepest Crisis , weakest and most Volatile state .
Though creating great Crisis there is always a greater oppuniety to rule, regulate and control the Peasant class and mother Russia .
If George Bush would have acted like Obama being interviewed by Steve Kroft over the Crisis last Dec. …..
Even Conservatives would have said Bush was drunk and back on the Bottle .
Don’t look for that to happen with Obama’s “love him to death “media sadly .
The Zero himself once said, “…just words, just speeches…” QED
I keep waiting for Barry’s agents (handlers) to announce he has signed a 10-year contract with NWM (New World Media) to do movies in Hollywood. I think he figures he has done the White House gig, now it is time to move on. Of course, he may have a problem… not sure they allow on-the-job training or teleprompters on a movie set!
Now we know why becoming president was a step down from being a commumity organizer. The joke is on us, but who is laughing now?
I know here in Atlanta – we have many homes that can not be maintained by people who make $250,000 a year. Taxes on many properties are as high as $150,000 not to mention the expense of upkeep and forget about the jumbo mortgage. So what happens to all these properties as well as the individuals’ second homes when the maximum people can make is $250,00. These homes will become toxic assets. Mansion after mansion that no one can afford. How will municipalities fund government services with property values deteriorating. We will have the second mortgage crisis created by government. Is this a pattern?
It is obvious that the racist hatemongers will not stop their vile attacks on our new Leader until the de-Bushification process is completed.
We must move immediately to hold full investigations and hearings to expose all the criminal activities of the Bush administration. Bush and his henchmen must swiftly be indicted, arrested, charged, and turned over to the International Criminal Court to stand trial for their crimes against humanity. Only then will President Obama be able to lead us all into the light of a new world of justice and peace.
“Kroft to Obama: Are you punch-drunk?”
I believe that question was the utterance of a “messiah” advocate who was utterly aghast as what he was seeing from B. Hussein Obama.
Watching the video it looked like Kroft suddenly awoke from the 2 year old fantasy he and his media buddies had been pushing to a sudden realization of “what the freaking hell have we done?’
I think Kroft was utterly afraid of what was sitting in front of him as the President of the United States.
John Hawkins
What a horribly depressing article! You should be ashamed of yourself for holding up such a magnifying glass on The Won! As Vivo pointed out, it is terribly unfair to quote POTUS, particularly without TOTUS to feed Him His lines.
And I did see a distortion in your writing. You wrote:
You should have lost the mealy-mouthed “practically”:
Maybe vivo will be happier now….
There’s a line that has shown up repeatedly from obama supporters on threads all over conservative media. It generally begins with the trumpeting braggadocio of “we won! you lost!” and then ends with “Get used to it.”
May I suggest that the obama kids on this site and others are the ones who are going to have to “get used to it” as the shine goes off their new toy and more and more people are pointing out the obvious: The wannabe emperor has no clothes.
He has no experience.
He has no gravitas, in fact!! Wasn’t that a really big deal with Pres. George W. Bush??
So as obama’s distortions, lies, false statements, uninformed decisions and foolish stumbling through every day are pointed out and you who voted for him don’t like it, I recommend that you GET USED TO IT.
You know what I find scary? That every time anyone dares to criticize Obama his obamatoms come into a site to start posting, trying to shut out any type of dissention or criticism. That was their job and they did it well. This kind of manipulation worked during the election, but it does not work anymore. We have seen you, know how you work, and it doesn’t work anymore. Move along, little obamabrainless. Let the grown ups have a talk.
President Obama’s inexperience is damaging enough domestically.
But his naivete in foreign affairs is outright dangerous and will encourage nothing good:
http://trackacrat.com/category/barack-obama/
It’s like the media has just awakened after a wild night of partying with complete strangers, and are horrifed to realize:
1.their wallets are missing,
2.everybodies clothes are gone,
3.the hotel room is trashed,
4.the windows are smashed, and
5.the furniture has been flung out onto the parking lot ten stories below on top of all their cars…
Oh, yeah…it sure was great while it lasted…
I live in a bastion of far leftism. Last summer, went to a dinner party of about 20 folks, and all the conversation was about Obama the divine. There was even an Obama campaign worker with all the buttons on who went from table to table whipping up enthusiasm. Last Saturday night, went to another dinner party at the same house with virtually the same people. Never heard the word “Obama”. These are smart people who were totally “Jonestowned”, and now they’re stunned speechless.
First, a point about the “real people grateful for $75K remark.” It isn’t whether you make 75 or 275 that really matters–what the Big O fails to appreciate is that everyone plans their personal/family budget based on reasonable expectations and recent history. If my neighbor makes 200K plus $1 million in bonus every year (yeah, a few do–don’t blow your poptarts just yet) then he takes on obligations commensurate with that level of income. His mortgage is astronomical; same for property taxes. Now that money is gone, and he hasn’t even lost his job. What happens to all those obligations he has entered? And the banks that hold his mortgage? The local services that depend on his taxes?
Schadenfreude being what it is, it may make regular Joe and Josephine feel good to see my neighbor lose his house because he can no longer make the $10K/month payments, but it kicks them in the butt down the line when he can’t make his tax payments and the ripple effects reverberate around the town, county and state. Pretty soon teachers and police officers are looking at paycuts or layoffs and no one can understand what happened.
Class warfare is simmering on the back burner. We now know that Obama is not up to the job at hand. Maybe, if everyone helps his study for the test (feeds him answers) he can still pass and we will survive as a country, humbled and chastened a bit. On the other hand, he just may veer off in community organizer mode and concentrate on redistributing what we still have in the kitty, not worrying about whether it ever grows again.
Is anybody confident they know the answer to this question?
Simplest way to put it is that Barack Obama is just a liar. He lies. All the time.
I can’t believe anyone is really surprised, though. He’s been doing throughout his whole career. He’s never been anything but a liar.
Mike Hawkins nailed it. Great piece. And we are stuck with President Teleprompter for at least 3.75+ years. On November 4th, I said we had crossed a threshold. I feared this left-wing radical with no experience would be a disaster — now it is actually happening. I bet Europe was like this in 1939 — watching the world as you know it descend into chaos.
Even liberals in the media are beginning to get upset with Obama, and for good reason. They thought they were getting a smart, competent, charismatic President who would govern from the center-left. Now they are starting to realize that they misoverestimated his talents. How long before the rest of the center-left begins to realize “this is not the Barack Obama I thought I knew.”
How much worse can it get? About 96% (amount of The Won’s term remaining) worse.
Being the suspicious sort I think we should keep an eye on the “incompetence” meme. Not that the president doesn’t deserve it, but the focus on floundering could obscure the malicious purposefulness of what’s happening to our country.
..what is interesting to note is that, as the Doofus-in-Chief’s performance becomes more and more unhinged and the economy spirals downward becuase Boobus likes to whistle past the graveyard, the responses to cranial-anally inverted KOS trolls becomes more shrill and less tolerant.
You see, vivo, we out here in middle class America do not suffer fools easily, be they our leaders or the sycophantic sewage like you that foisted them off on us.
Lili von from Iowa. I too was struck by his 75K figure saying that people in Iowa, AR, etc would be thrilled to make that. I sensed that the stick it to the RICH figure just lowered itself to 75K.
I too though that Steve Kroft looked terrified and a bit angry. My husband assured me that he was scared to be asking such ‘tough’ questions. I would still like to believe that perhaps MSM is waking up.
And his laughter-of course he is laughing. The planets and stars are lining up and dropping his socialist agenda right to him. What an opportunity-he has NO CHOICE but to keep bailing…. sure
“….that’s why listening to Barack Obama actually tells us very little about what he intends to do.”
Some of us realized this more than a year ago. What took the rest of you (media) so long?
“What I’ve told them directly, because I have heard some of this, is they need to spend a little time outside of New York.”
I sell second homes to weekend Manhattanites, with a large percentage coming from Wall St. So, my President is now actively trying to put me out of business by telling my clients to leave NY. As if the real estate markets weren’t tough enough….
Chicagoan, I humbly disagree with your assessment. Class warfare is not simmering on the back burner. It is boiling in the forefront. I fear the classes will break down to 1) Congress and 2) the rest of us
He’s been well attributed for saying “When you’re driving towards a cliff you have to change direction.”
Not stop. Not stop and check your map. Just change direction and keep driving. So instead of driving off a cliff he’s now driving us into a volcano.
Setting those sort of arbitrary salary limits for bank employees — driven not by the market, but by what some economically illiterate politician thinks is “fair” — is practically guaranteed to have adverse consequences down the line.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again.
Barack Obama’s entire shtick (most clarifyingly obvious in his reply to Joe the Plumber) is based around some leftist/socialist notion of “fairness”.
And who, exactly, considers Himself the sole definer and arbiter of “fairness”?
Guess.
And hardly anyone ever mentions that such kinds of jockeying & flimflamming are simply not in the job description of a United States President.
ReconUSMC. Great post. One little exception, though. Thompson was Gov. of Wisconsin. We now have Diamond Jim Doyle, (Obama in whiteface}. Mich is governed by Granholm,(Obama in drag).
Yeswedid the Cable Guy. I don’t care who you are, that’s funny right there.

“These are smart people who were totally “Jonestowned”, and now they’re stunned speechless.”
Beg to differ Phd (@59), but smart people do not get sold such a bill of goods. The people you are referring to are indoctrinated, utopian, ideologues who believed Obama to be the veritable end of the rainbow. In retrospect, candidate Obama’s speeches were hollow, his executive experience non-existent, his background sketchy, his associations scandalous and his legislative record far-left. “Smart people” do not vote for such a candidate for President of the United States. That is left to fools.
I had a dream:
The band was ready to play “Hail to the chief”, waiting for the president to come into view. As he walks towards the podium, the band master lifts his stick, and the band, in a sudden burst of spontaneity, goes “Pop, goes the weasel!”.
“Because if you go to North Dakota or you go to Iowa or if you go to Arkansas, where folks would be thrilled to be making $75,000 a year without a bonus, then I think they’d get a sense of why people are frustrated.”
Maybe Obama should tell this to his wife. Wasn’t she the one last year who, after we received the GW Bush stimulus check of $600, said it wasn’t really that much money…”you go out and buy a pair of earrings” and then what?
And, wasn’t she the one also whining about paying back her student loans and how they couldn’t afford the thousands in extra curricular activities for the girls…on their measly six figure income?
When vivo (and a raft of other ideologues) attempts to demean the “credibility of the Pajamas site”, it’s so transparent as to be funny.
These are smart people who were totally “Jonestowned”, and now they’re stunned speechless.
Smart people think for themselves. It was obvious to those of us who think for ourselves that this media creation would be a disaster as POTUS.
Wasn’t she the one last year who, after we received the GW Bush stimulus check of $600, said it wasn’t really that much money…”you go out and buy a pair of earrings” and then what?
Since Michelle mocked the former administration’s $600 rebate check to actual taxpayers, I’ve wondered what her take on the Obama plan to send a $500 check to each non-taxpayer might be.
If $600 buys a pair of earrings, $500 should buy a box of Wheaties after the hyper-inflated money supply (let’s print another trillion !) renders the dollar worthless.
“that Obama is trying to pawn this entire crisis off on Wall Street when Congress created the whole mess by forcing banks to give loans to people who were bad risks”
I’m waiting for (1)a citation of either the 1977 or 1995 amended-version that forces banks to give out loans, and (2) the reason these loans incontrovertibly led to credit-default-swaps, mortgage-back-securities, and the like.
Does this author want to ultimately exonerate the banking system for taking these risks due to the CRA? Weren’t these banks backed by the government if the loanees defaulted? Even if a bank was forced to give out loans, why would companies like Fannie and Freddie and later higher institutions take in these bad loans.
I first blamed the CRA, but really, it is one big red herring unless there’s a connection to the forcing of loans and the latter actions by banks.
Other than that a great article that pinpoints Obama’s ease of guise. He’s not as slippery as Clinton, but, damn, he’s trying!
There is a saying, “People are worthy of their leaders.” I am not sure, if it is Slavic in origin, but we do use it a lot in Russia and Ukraine. Lets face it, Obama identifies with the TV/multimedia generation. He is an iconic representation of a big portion of America. How did he get elected? Easy, we had too many people “voting under the influence” of the mass media.
What are we going to do? Real change in America begins in the home. It takes time, effort, and most of all personal responsibility (financially, spiritually, relationally, & morally).
The secret to America is the collectivity of individuality. Where collectivity does not exclude individuality, nor does individuality exclude collectivity. Socialists want collectivity to the detriment of individuality. Likewise, pure capitalists want personal gain irrespective of affects on others. “E pluribus unum” – “Out of many, One”. This motto eloquently describes the balance between these two points. Now I know you may be wonder what is the point of my diversion. It is this, not only is personal responsibility essential to reviving America, but so also is collective responsibility necessary.
“We” are in debt, both as a nation and personally. “We” are nation dumb-downed through the mass media. “We” are very much like are new president. I can hear it now, “Not me!” #24 “Not I!” “He’s not my president!” I know, and I feel the same way. He my not be “my” president, but he is “our” president. The sooner “we” take responsibility for this, the sooner “we” can start working on a solution.
Hey, Republicans! I got news for you, There is another reason Obama won. You didn’t give the people an appealing enough alternative.
CONGRESS IS AS BAD IF NOT WORSE

“Fairness” is a kindergarten recess playground concept that is born of childrens’ envy of others. Usually, people outgrow the concept of “fairness” shortly after kindergarten, in favor of the grownup concepts of “justice” and work/reward. Leftists never do.

Thank you 74 Big Red . You are right it was Wisconsin .
I have come up with a new hypothesis about Obama Mindless thinking and worst his $$$$$$ actions : The smarter a person thinks he is, the stupider he Actually is.
Obama sees myself as modern day Albert Einstein obviously but tends to send Hugo Chevez and Nancy Pelosi B’/S Messages to Normal Tax Paying Americans .
We learned that Poor Elvis P. told horrible Jokes but all of his enter Circle hanger owner’s had to Laugh like it was the funniest Joke ever told ….. The Day Elvis died He though he was the funniest man on earth according to his Cousin .
Obama was never challenged by the Media for Two Solid years while he was running for President even though his Views were quite racial and frankly moronic as we saw last night on 60 Minutes as well . He actually must have though he was cute , funny and smart ?
This man can not turn his far left Agenda around nor wants too at this late date …… they only thing that can be done is The Americans Voters can shame him into the last Two years of Jimmy Carter’s by just ” Shuting up” before he does far more damage to this Country it will take 20-30 years to Fix !
Maybe OBAMA was Laughing last night because he Thinks he is getting away with it….. until ……. last night !
No More !
It’s my take that the CRA revisions put in place by the Clinton administration in 1995 really did fuel a whole host of horrible lending practices, 105% loans to people with no proven credit worthiness whatsoever and so forth.
And many ACORN like organizations sprung up to put pressure on lending institutions, while mortgage “paper” came to be elaborately and arcanely bundled to a point where it wasn’t exactly clear which lending institution actually held some of these mortgages. And “the world” got involved, buying arcanely bundled financial instruments with the insured backing of the US government. And democrats in Congress clearly and unequivocally blocked attempts at reforming the F&F house of cards, as is evident
In 2004 testimony
Here’s a brief article of a successful bank being pressured to make bad loans.
Yes, the Community Reinvestment Act Really Did Help Cause the Housing Crisis
I find it interesting that they set the limit at $250,000. Bill Clinton set that level for his 10% tax surcharge for the rich back in 1992. Using that same number would imply that the cost of living has not increased in 16 years. Another thing is the last time we taxed income at 90% or more it applied to income over $400,000 and that ended in 1963. So I guess that it takes less money to be rich in 2009 than it did in 1963. Does any one else think there is something wrong here?
The “one” is correct that the bankers will leave NYC but not for the hinterlands of the USA. They will be poached by the Banks in Europe, Asia and the Caribbean that will pay them for their talents. Imagine where our banking industry will be then.
The problem still exists that far too many people believe that when he hands them the Gold-Leaf painted lead bar that the Alchemist-in-Chief really has turned lead into gold. They just can’t imagine that they have just purchased a car from the “used car salesman” set up in front of the local junk yard.
Is it just me or does “vivo” sound like that guy on You Tube who tearfully begged the world to “Leave Britney alone!”.
Chemman:
Are these the same banking geniuses who led us into the problem in the first place? Might we better off if we let them go?

“The Texas Board of Education will vote this week on a new science curriculum designed to challenge the guiding principle of evolution, a step that could influence what is taught in biology classes across the nation.
The proposed curriculum change would prompt teachers to raise doubts that all life on Earth is descended from common ancestry. Texas is such a huge textbook market that many publishers write to the state’s standards, then market those books nationwide.
“This is the most specific assault I’ve seen against evolution and modern science,” said Steven Newton, a project director at the National Center for Science Education, which promotes teaching of evolution.
Texas school board chairman Don McLeroy also sees the curriculum as a landmark — but a positive one.

Associated Press
Rev. Carl W. Rohlfs of the University United Methodist Church in Austin, left, talks with Texas Freedom Network President Kathy Miller, right, Thursday in Austin. The State Board of Education is voting on science-curriculum standards on the teaching of evolution.
Dr. McLeroy believes that God created the earth less than 10,000 years ago. If the new curriculum passes, he says he will insist that high-school biology textbooks point out specific aspects of the fossil record that, in his view, undermine the theory that all life on Earth is descended from primitive scraps of genetic material that first emerged in the primordial muck about 3.9 billion years ago.
He also wants the texts to make the case that individual cells are far too complex to have evolved by chance mutation and natural selection, an argument popular with those who believe an intelligent designer created the universe.
The textbooks will “have to say that there’s a problem with evolution — because there is,” said Dr. McLeroy, a dentist. “We need to be honest with the kids.”
The vast majority of scientists accept evolution as the best explanation for the diversity of life on earth.
Yes, they say, there are unanswered questions — transitional fossils yet to be unearthed, biological processes still to be discovered. There is lively scientific debate about some aspects of evolution’s winding, four-billion-year path. But when critics talk about exposing students to the “weaknesses” or “insufficiencies” in evolutionary theory, many mainstream scientists cringe.
The fossil record clearly supports evolution, they say, and students shouldn’t be exposed to creationist critiques in the name of “critical thinking.”
“We will be teaching nonsense in the science classroom,” said David Hillis, a biology professor at the University of Texas at Austin.
Polls show many Americans are skeptical of or confused by evolution; in a recent survey by Gallup, 39% said they believe the theory, 25% said they didn’t, and 36% had no opinion.
The Discovery Institute, a Seattle think tank that challenges evolution, cites a recent Zogby poll that found a strong majority of Americans supports letting teachers explore both “strengths and weaknesses” of evolution. Otherwise, students see only “cherry-picked evidence that really amounts to propaganda,” said John West, a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute.
The Texas school board will vote after taking public testimony in a three-day meeting that starts Wednesday. Dr. McLeroy leads a group of seven social conservatives on the 15-member board. They are opposed by a bipartisan group of seven, often joined by an eighth board member considered a swing vote, that support teaching evolution without caveats.
Neither side is confident of victory. All members of the board have come under enormous pressure in recent months, especially three Republicans who support teaching evolution without references to “weaknesses.” The state Republican Party passed a resolution urging the three to back Dr. McLeroy’s preferred curriculum. A conservative activist group put out a news release suggesting all three were in the pocket of “militant Darwinists.”
One of the three, former social-studies teacher Pat Hardy, said she has received thousands of impassioned calls and emails.
Ms. Hardy says she intends to stand firm for evolution, but she has learned not to predict what her colleagues might do. Curriculum standards critical of evolution won preliminary approval in January, but several board members said later that they hadn’t understood the issues.
“Anything can happen,” Ms. Hardy said.

We must move immediately to hold full investigations and hearings to expose all the criminal activities of the Bush administration. Bush and his henchmen must swiftly be indicted, arrested, charged, and turned over to the International Criminal Court to stand trial for their crimes against humanity. Only then will President Obama be able to lead us all into the light of a new world of justice and peace.”
..Mr “did”, sounds like your blood sugar level has dropped dangerously low; I suggest carrying around a few of those little Snickers(tm) snack bars in your pocket and popping a few before you hammer on the keyboard.
Otherwise geve the BushHitler invective a rest; it’s getting very old and tiresome.
Try and ignore the fact that Obama is black, is a liberal, is from the Democratic Party. Assume he is a Republican, and still had the same performance over the last 60 days. The left would be howling. Justifiably, I think the right would be howling too.
Worst start to a Presidency since Clinton 92.
I will give him the benefit of the doubt that he has had a lot on his plate-terror, financial crisis. But all he really had to do for the short term was keep the existing terror policies, let the generals run the war, leave the tax and spend liberal causes that he ran on to another day. He just needed to get in and take care of the financial situation. IF he would have done JUST that, he would have had a LOT of political capital to spend on other things.
If Obama takes care of the banks, (dinner), he woudl have had many many desserts (health care, gitmo, war, taking over 401k, higher taxes, etc). He blew his presidency in the first 100 days.
Thank goodness. Now if the Republicans can be credible and together for 2010, we can take back the House. Take back the Senate in 2012-and maybe the White House with it.
@#99 – care to explain exactly *why* I should be in favor of it? You seem to be laboring under the common misaprehension that “conservative” equals “creationist.” Or worse, it equates to “anti-science.” Which is pure weapons-grade BS.

Those points about the CRA’s impact are valid, but I wonder how they impacted the decisions to create MBS’s, CDS’s, et al. As I said before, if the government stipulated that you received money for loanee’s that defauled, then there really is no point in getting an MBS.
The real gripe is saying that the CRA was the sole cause. When other not banks were forced to make loans, it doesn’t look like they or the likes of Fannie Mae were forced to initiate MBS’s. Then activities like CDS’s likewise were all the more ridiculous.
You mean there was a technical problem with his autocue and he had to THINK. Thinking is not one of Sidi Obama’s strengths.
‘Goonies never say die’. A line from an 80′s movie of my youth. For this ‘Braveheart Jr.’ like battle call, I’m forever a ‘Goonie’. Admittedly, it’s difficult in this day and age. Though I, we must keep on keepin’ on. If not for me or our family, th
I’m through with teleprompter guy telling us what’s ‘appropriate’ or ‘fair’, ‘just.’
Teleprompter guy should be encouraging the masses to look within and improve their OWN situation, not rely on false idols, institutions to improve their diresome situation.
Easier to afford/pay college loans? How’s about going to a J C or C C 1st while living at home or living with some roommates/friends, to get ones bearings before heading off to an over priced school. In those prior years gaining knowledge, experience in paying bills and being more responsible for one’s actions.
Unable to receive health care benefits? Find a job that does! Hell, Wal-Mart, McDonald’s and myriad of others provide the aforementioned. So many people doing without health insurance is idiotic!
Teleprompter guy, placate your blame game agenda to the moochers, the martyrs and such. Not the successful people who actually put capital IN our society.
Lastly, post #83 is dead-on. I was disgusted by McCain’s representing the Republicans. If only Sheriff Arpaio entertained the political arena…
Why don’t they just move Obama into air force one and close the white house to save money. He spends most of his time flying around now.

#52 “Yes We Did” – You’re actually Obama himself aren’t you? Are you writing that stuff on your Blackberry? It has internet, right?
My God, what a complete a-hole. Laughing his a** off while unemployment goes up and the economy implodes.
One-termer written all over him.
That 60 Minutes performance made me send ANOTHER $100 to SarahPAC. At least she’ll make good use of it.
Obama is such a spoiled, out-of-touch, narcissistic punk.
Economic indicators started moving 3-4 months ago, way before any of the initial stimulus package started. The plan for the bank deal spelled out today was published weeks ago by several different people not associated with the administration, once in thew WSJ. “O” so far is following Alinski’s plans to the letter. He will shift with the winds of popularity much more than Clinton did, and try to stay ahead of the hangman while implementing his programs. I reasd last week that Carol Browner was a member of the Socialist International and had her data removed from the site 2-3- months ago. If there is any truth to this, expect to see all EPA rulings going against business and the economy. You are hearing all kinds of statements on our horrible dependency on foriegn oil, but no plan to ameliorate that by improving US production. It will take more than thirty years to shift a significant portion of our economy away from oil, and coal is in a similar position. He’s trying to create another huge crisis to implement the socialist plan. Hopefully, it will be too big a job and he will bungle it.
Am I the only one her that is convinced that Sarah Palin or Bobby Jindal or Mitt Romney is going to be able to take Obama in 2012?
Everyday he puts his foot in his mouth and illustrates what a complete hollow, arrogant neophyte he is.
He is turning out to be even WORSE than Carter.
this guy has not stopped his laughing, whether its over special needs children, or how crappy it is to earn 250K hahahaha, or over trillions of misspent dollars, or playing the fool for the evil, the barbarous, the braindead, dicking around with them and with our lives.
keep laughing you jackass. while our businesses continue to close, our homes sell for less than we invested in them, our food is unaffordable, and millions of us don’t have jobs or even the hope of work that can pay for anything. even walmart is going down the toilet.
you’ll need a portable laugh track to accompany your teleprompters, you vain, stupid, vapid, delusional excuse for a leader. now, that’s funny.
I love how everyone rags on Obama for using a teleprompter when everyone since Reagan used them. Dubya DESPARATELY needed them more.
Maybe if conservatives ‘thought’ more, then an intellectual giant like Sarah Palin wouldn’t have even have been on the list of candidates.
“Oopsie – Dow up 500.”
I get it. When the Dow rises, the Administration gets credit. When it tanks, it ain’t their fault.
See, I speak Progressive, too. Sheesh.
I remember when Joseph Stalin would give a speech and everyone would stand up and clap. They would clap for hours even though Stalin had left the building. The first person to stop clapping was taken out of the building and shot.
I wonder if this will apply to our big ‘O”. We will have to keep laughing after he tells a joke or else…..
one of my own
Oopsie- Dow went up 500
Go ahead an bet everything you have on the stock market right now. I dare you.
You know what they say everything that goes up does come DOW.
Hey Carter is a breath of fresh air compared to this!
Middleman
Maybe if the Left actually ‘Do More’ what actually works in the real world than ‘ Thought More ‘ in their safe little secluded world , the highly educated idiot we have in the White House would never even be thought of as a viable candidate for any elected position . Mr Middleman , I would not trust Obama to run a child’s lemonade stand even more so the position he had won , being POTUS . He is way over his head and for all his supposed qualities , he competently demonstrates his lack of understanding of what it means to be the President of the United States and the leadership qualities that requires to run the country .
Can we have Hillary now?
Middleman, not that you’re changing the subject or anything.
Anyway, sorry dude, but Obama is the teleprompter president. I mean come on, maybe if he stopped sleeping with it under his pillow at night.
Oh hey, remember that time when Obama was reading the teleprompter and he said “Go f*** yourself San Diego”. Man that was a good one.
Hawkins………you absolutely nailed it!! Obama deserves skewering like you’ve performed, because he’s SUCH an idealogue and hasn’t thought things through, because………..he thinks he already knows the answers!! He has to make Capitalism more fair, Bush and Cheney were evil so Gitmo must be closed!! Obama is so disrespectful of our economy and our taxpayers who support the 25million total govt ‘ees at all levels………so despises the private sector, that he’s risking our whole economy on his gamble. The country will lose, but hopefully a new Congress in Nov ’10 will help. And of course, maybe he’ll have a nervous breakdown after his MSM sympathizers turn against him enough!
one question though: The Fourth Amendment to the Constitution in the Bill of Rights protecs persons from their possessions being seized by the government, protecting them against unreasonable search and seizure. Do you think Obama thinks it’s permitted to take 100% of someone’s property (their money) that they earned in a legally-permissible contract involving work, simply because the government believes that money should be seized? I think Obama doesn’t consider this to be a problem. I wish the MSM would make more of an issue of it. It doesn’t even seem reasonable to take 50% of someone’s paycheck. I wish the new “Tea Party” would make this a HUGE issue. All sources of taxation should not conspire to take 50% of our money. That doesn’t seem too reasonable to me…….seeing as how the costs of living, retirement savings, health-care, and living expenses are so high. We need to make this THE issue for our “Tea Party”.
All you folks who are upset with vivo forget it. He’s just a leftist troll without a clue about what is ahead. Don’t waste your time. Given the third world banana republic economic policies being followed by this government you better spend your time focused on how to survive the next few years. In the not too distant future this whole situation is not going to be very amusing. Very soon everyday existence may very well be filled with constant life and death decisions. If you have ever read any memoirs of folks that have lived in countries that followed foolish economic policies you know what I mean. Can you say hyperinflation? Got gold?
Obama appears to be the result of the dumbing down of America. This guy is a Popular culture Public Relations produced President of the United States. The Obama Team appears to be so full of themselves, that they believe their own Bull S—. That just could be our biggest problem.
Plus, the Left campaign against anything George Bush did in the Terrorist War, anti Military, and the News Media working the Elite Left against the War and undermining every decision.
And the “Republicans” (What ever they are these days), just sit there and took it, never defended their position. Allowing the Left to hold the high ground on almost every political position.
Now, we have Obama and the same Left and News Media. They will protect him as long as they can, I suspect until he makes a International Mistake. That could happen soon. Iran, North Korea, or Gaza/Israel. If we are threatened, by a new Terrorist Attack or Energy speed bump. They will not be able to get Iran to understand that the Obama America is different than the Bush America. Just too much hate.
The Elitist on the Right and Left will turn away from Obama and his Chicago Boys, in a New York Minute.
We can only hope he does not make any BIG mistakes. Remember, Jimmy Carter thought the Ayatollah Khomeini was a man of God and would lead Iran into the western style republic. That worked. A lot of the same thinking is going on in the White House now. Be Prepared.
Someday, a candidate with enough broad, personal appeal will rise to lead the United States away from its defense of individual liberty, and into whole-hearted support of World Socialism.
I don’t see what all this hubub is about. I always thought Obama’s speeches were good for a laugh.
I hear from Nancy Pelosi’s neighbor that she was clapping every time Obama spoke on 60 Minutes and on Jay Leno.
Does she know something we don’t know?
Rumor has it that Obama offered Jay Leno the Sec of Treasury position.
Jay turned it down, he felt overqualified and would have had to take a pay cut.
Obama can’t be that bad. I hear that he is advertising Guantanamo as a great tourist vacation spot in Afganistan.

2. I am really getting tired of hearing “a whole bunch of …” A large number of quoted people say “a whole bunch of …” Can’t they they come up with something a little bit more intelligent sounding than “a whole bunch of …”? Like “a large number…”, “lots of …”, “a vast amount …”, “scads…”, “many…”.
Did you hear Obama was talking to a whole bunch of people about eating a whole bunch of bananas because they have a whole bunch of vitamins and do a whole bunch of good things for you body.
Thank you, have a good night.
oopsie–have to watch out for that dead cat bounce….
HEY LIBS HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR NEW PRESIDENT NOW?
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA…what a schmuck!!!
Then there is the dyslexic who tried to write the words “a whole bunch of” and it came up “a bunch of whole”.
Then there is also another dyslexic who took the term “a whole bunch of” and it became “bunch of a whole”.
#129. Flagrante Dlelicto:
“Someday, a candidate with enough broad, personal appeal will rise to lead the United States away from its defense of individual liberty, and into whole-hearted support of World Socialism.”
Yep, and that day is today.
Great article and I agree with every word.
Then there was the stuttering dyslexic who took “a whole bunch of” and it came out “a bunch of a whole”
I would find him more entertaining if he was the president of some other country.
Ahhh, the 60 Minutes Interview brought back some great memories. The wild eyed look. The nervous, inappropriate, and cold hearted laughter. The sheer terror on the interviewer’s face when he realized he was dealing with a narcisist who had exceeded his vildest expectation. Oh my, such vonderful times. I was fortunate on many times to be granted the responsibility of injecting der Fuhrer with my special crystal meth cocktails and the look on his face was similar to “That One’s” last night. “That One” was as high and stoned as Der Fuhrer on the eve of Barbarosa and although I thought I’d never see anyone remotely similar to Herr Hitler, i believe in “That One” we have truly found a comparison.
I am really getting tired of hearing “a whole bunch of …” A large number of quoted people say “a whole bunch of …”
Cheeky, this is very much out of the salesman’s handbook. It’s used to imply that a certain opinion, tendency, or preference is prevalent among a significant group of people and is meant to reinforce or bolster a decision or opinion.
This clown is so easy to read, yet Americans are only now starting to figure out the joke was on them all along.
This reminds me of an interview that Putin gave to CNN. when asked to explain what happened to a Russian submarine, the Russian dictator sweetly smiled and said – “It sank”. It’s scary.

Well, thank you guys for all your comments. I guess it’s kind of hard to criticize your blogging heroes.
When I read the following, I’m starting to realize that Obama and Geithner are walking on eggshells.
If you want to understand the messy financial situation of the USA (and the World), and have the patience to read it, open the following link. I guarantee that it will SHOCK you.

I predict that in six months (or less) the name of Joseph Cassano (from AIG) will be a household name (along with Bernie Madoff, Mike Milken, Enron, et al)

That Rolling Stone article is one of the best I’ve ever read. Since when did Rolling Stone become conservative?

I love how everyone rags on Obama for using a teleprompter when everyone since Reagan used them.
Peter writes: Somebody please explain to Muddleman that there is a differnece between USING a teleprompter and being DEPENDANT on one.
During her Republican Convention speech, Sarah Palin’s teleprompter broke down. Sarah managed to not only continue speaking but had her entire speech memorized. If anything like that were to happen to Obama, the entire speech would consist of “Uh… Um… Uh… Er… Um… Uh…” Just look at the recent speech with the PM from Ireland, when Obama wound up thanking himself because all he knows how to do is chimp off whatever is written on his electronic crutch.
Re: your comment:

Isn’t that a bit of an issue, since we have these >terrorists in hand, will presumably be capturing more, and even the New >York Times is admitting that European nations are “hedging” on helping us >with Gitmo inmates? Shouldn’t Obama have thought this all the way through >before he decided to close down Guantanamo Bay?
This is a relevant example of the way liberals think. They seem to live in the moment with little thought given to potential outcomes of the decisions they make. Closing Gitmo “feels right” so lets do it. Something will work out with the prisoners being held there. No thought was given to what the terrorists themselves will do, once released back into the world. (That IS what is going to happen). They will be right back at their business of killing Americans and spreading their message of hate.

Oops… Can I say Chimp and Obama in the same thread without Reverand Al demanding I be lynched?
I have added a listing for you on my blog roll. If you disaprove, please let me know and I’ll remove it.

I got up this morning trying to think of a joke I could tell about Obama. Then I realized that the joke was on us. This is going to be a depressing day.
I’m all for closing Gitmo. Just open the gates and shove them out.
Yes, but make sure they settle in Blue cities;like Frisco!
It is good to have a site like this one where all the wingnuts get off on each others nutty comments. I come here for my daily laugh, but I have not seen any mention lately of Obama’s birth certificate. Come on guys you have to keep up your end by keeping me entertained
It may be that BHO believes (or his advisers do) that any TV appearance is good, no matter what happens. Or that he is actually a funny and smart man and it will come across quite naturally, no matter how many blunders.
Either way, the feeling among these advisers (and perhaps deep inside BHO) may be the American people are so essentially dumb that it is enough for them to think they are watching a smart and funny man. In other words, if you grin enough, and look sincere enough, the battle is won.
157 The Shadow
Keep an eye on the docket(s) of the Supreme Court. I suspect that in the days ahead, you will be getting all the entertainment you require re obama’s birth place.
It says a lot about you that you find it entertaining to have to consider that our alleged POTUS may in fact be a complete fraud.
We’re not entertained by that idea. We’re very concerned for our country.
You’re the nutcase. We’re just asking a simple question.
Red bood shot eyes at half mast. Inappropriate and uncontrolled giggling. The man looked stoned to me. Sounded like it too. Would not have been surprised to see him pull out a bag of chips and start munching out during the interview.

159: MERYL The shadow…of a brain.
Does anyone remember the GREATEST LITTLE WHORE HOUSE IN TEXAS?
Doesn’t Obama remind you of the governor in that musical? I wonder if our new President can sing and dance.
120. Oscar the Grump: . . . “Go ahead an bet everything you have on the stock market right now. I dare you. . . . You know what they say everything that goes up does come DOW.”
So, Mt. Patriot Missive, are you glad when it goes up or glad when it goes down?
By the way: up another 100 so far today . . . and this . . . The Commerce Department said Wednesday that orders for durable goods — manufactured products expected to last at least three years — increased 3.4 percent last month, much better than the 2 percent fall economists expected. It was the first advance since July and the strongest one-month gain in 14 months.
I wonder of guns are considered durable goods.
118. Jeff Perren re: “Oopsie – Dow up 500.” . . . writes, “I get it. When the Dow rises, the Administration gets credit. When it tanks, it ain’t their fault. See, I speak Progressive, too. Sheesh.”
Take it from your side perrier . . . DOW goes down Obama gets the blame. DOW goes up, he doesn’t get credit. See, I speak conservative, too. Sheesh.”
It will be interesting to see how you all rationalize your communal tea bagging when the recovery kicks in across sectors . . . “The recession would have ended anyway. They alwasy do. He’s just taking credit for all the hard work Eric Cantor did, you know, saying, ‘No, no, no,. we’re not the party of no.’ ”
See ya then.
In terms of straight talk, has anyone else noticed that Michelle Obama has been completely muzzled for a pleasent amount of time? If some is good, then more is better.
I think Obama’s reply to a CNN questioner regarding the AIG bonuses makes a lot of sense both during the press conference and the 60 minutes interview: “It took us a couple days because I like to know what I’m talking about before I speak.”
This also applies to his use of a teleprompter. I would much prefer a President who examines all sides of an issue patiently before making a rash decision or “mispeaking.” Kind of refreshing after 8 years of Bushisms.
@Oscar the Grump 149: You think that the Matt Taibbi article shows Rolling Stone is conservative?! LOL! You sir, just didn’t get it. 0 points on reading comprehension for you.
But kudos to Vivo for pointing out the excellent article. This is real journalism that I’m sure most of the commenters on this site won’t take the time to comprehend and integrate.

#168 Guy – Actually, this article was pointed out in a previous thread. This is how vivo found out about it. I downloaded the article myself and have read it through twice. Very solid. I have not ever seen a better explanation of what went wrong. Sadly, the conditions that created the problem are still extant.
There’s still plenty of time for 0bama to learn to tap dance lessons so he can shuffle with Michelle on “Dancing with the Stars” after their whole agenda is tanking our Country into the depths of self-defeating depression/recession/socialism.
Maybe they can even do a “reality show” where they are eating Kobe beef and wining and dining in high style while people are living in tents.
-Oh…and it looks like that much promised and chest-thumped “Middle Class Tax Cut” is not going to go through.
Shock and Awwwwwwwwww SH*T!

No big deal, but I found the article from another source.
you are all blind to what’s going on around. gitmo is a fuking joke. maybe they gain some useful intelligence, but we complain some much about freedom and idependence, yet are so quick to take it away from others. shelfish, ignorant, and stupid are the top three adjectives to describe the general shitty populance of america…and don’t even get me started on dubya. i wonder how much he made while he was president? I guarantee it was a lot more than 400,000 and none of it clean…
