Obama’s Audacity of Fake Centrism
No doubt she would deem highly cynical the retort of “Mind your own damn business,” but surely I am not the only American cognizant of our need to be free from governmental coercion. She is wrong about everything, as divisions are beneficial. They prevent the United States from morphing into a setting in which to retry all of last century’s failed policies. In 2008 we need cynicism more than ever. It is entirely appropriate to greet with derision those who want to increase the size of a klepomanical state that expropriates 53.9 percent of the nation’s income. Moreover, there is nothing “new” about pseudo-liberals wanting to extinguish liberties and outlaw the diversity of others.
In lieu of the mainstream media’s slavish devotion to Mr. Obama, one would assume that the left would play along with his subterfuge. They should recognize that no matter how he may verbally pivot, not one cell in his body is tainted by conservatism. Yet contrary to conventional wisdom, reality, and past performance, numerous leftists got duped. They are now “uneasy, upset, dismayed, and even angry” with their presumptive champion.
The New York Times ran a story concerning the creation of a critical subgroup at an Obama campaign site consisting of “progressives who won’t accept being pushed away from the table” due to his flip-flop on FISA. The Gray Lady published a lengthier piece as well, documenting the disgust some leftists feel towards their New Age knight in shining Façonnable classic dress shirts. One of the disaffected noted that she felt sickened by his shifts and will vote for the Green Party in the fall. Other leftists have formed an escrow fund for their donations. Their doing so reflects collective distrust. Cash will only be forwarded to Obama when he displays “a firm commitment to progressive values.”
Seth Colter Walls over at the Huffington Post actually believes that Obama’s recent centrist feints are a reflection of who he has always been. Michael Eric Dyson rebuked the Democratic nominee in Time for daring to suggest that absent fathers were somehow responsible for the condition of the modern black family. He wished that Obama would emulate Chris Rock and be “just as hard on whites as on blacks.” The Progressive seconded his opinion. They miffed that “Obama has a bad habit of denouncing black people.” Another commentator at the same site wondered, “Why should we believe he will suddenly tack back to being a defender of civil liberties?”
As one who discerns the transparency behind Obama’s venture into the middle of the road, I was astonished to learn that his base of estranged Americans was perturbed by his double-dealing. I soon realized that my surprise was hasty and a product of temporarily forgetting the nature of the leftist. Appeals to reason and history are lost on them. With the pseudo-liberal, logic has no dominion because it’s all emotion all the time. This eventuality was evident in their queer over-celebration and hyping of the inexperienced candidate throughout the election cycle. That a cohort of fanatics would turn on him was inevitable. Loyalty and honor are not traits endemic to the left; distrust, resentment, projection, and outrage are characteristics they perspire in copious quantities. Grover Norquist summed up their essence perfectly with the phrase “competing parasites.”
From a rational perspective, there was never anything promising or unique about Obama. Certainly he possesses some gifts such as an engaging voice, a strong physical presence, and a polite demeanor, but none of these attributes is even remotely relevant post-inauguration. A president should be selected on criteria involving policy stances, attitude towards the nation, and the probability that he or she will preserve and defend our Constitution. Obama is gravely deficient in all of these areas.
The would-be messiah is but an illusion. His ornate reputation was constructed upon the endless repetition of jejune platitudes like “Change you can believe in,” “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for,” and “A new strategy for a new world.” These clichés are merely fluff and circumstance. There’s no there there. That journalists and urban hipsters mistake these trivialities for substance is a reflection of their own shallowness. When one’s views are fueled by feeling, rhetoric is everything. Thus, when Obama veered off in a new direction he diminished his worth in their eyes. The here and now is all that matters to a leftist. History is irrelevant unless it can be recruited for the purposes of disseminating conspiracy theories.
The tsunami formally known as Barack was a mirage from the start. With him the message was always the message — and that’s it. The only thing his victory portends is a recapitulation of the 70s. At the end of his hope rainbow lies the Carter administration redux. Ultimately, I fear that his oscillations will not harm his prospects. As one diehard remarked of his irritated peers, “Where are these people going to go, anyway?” I can suggest an ideal place, but it does not involve ballot boxes or any other terrestrial locale.
In my cynicism (contrary to Michelle’s admonition, I haven’t shed it yet)…
I can imagine the “big money people”* behind this campaign (George Soros and “new money” millionaires/Silicon Valley types) giving permission to their candidate to appear more centrist.

Why does the right think Obama supporters need to believe he is the Messiah and can do no wrong? All we need to know is that he is a better candidate than McCain (which he is by a wide margin). The right’s emphasis on the wrong issues and inability to understand of even admit the shift in American politics is why they are going to lose handily this November.

The issues I care about; the economic revival of the middle-class, access to Health Care for ALL Americans, ending the War in Iraq, etc., happen to be the issues that Obama is talking about.
McCain, on the other hand, brings nothing new to the table. And if you don’t think that McCain’s further tax cuts, among other plans (including those feeble, but costly, “tax credits” to buy private Health Insurance) will seriously impact American’s Historic budget deficit by multi-millions as well (some economists actually think that McCain’s plans will cost considerably more than Obama’s) then you haven’t taken a good look at the real financial consequences of it, so desperate are you to overestimate the cost of Obama’s proposals.
The only way I would vote for a Republican this year is if McCain said that he was ending the insane War on Drugs that has limited my Medical options, and put over a million Americans in Prison, and has sapped the budget of over 100 Billion per year. Of course since Cindy’s “little” problem was exposed (no thanks to McCain who failed to notice that his wife was lit up like a Christmas Tree), I’m sure McCain needs to appear to be tough on drugs….

The number one issue that will harm Barack “Barry” Obama’s prospects is the call to drill for more oil. This is his Achilles heel. When is the last time an Obama supporter has mentioned it? They are terrified. This is the issue which will put John McCain into the White House.

Like all the big name Dems these days, Obama the socialist is controlled by the far left anti-american machine of Soros, Dean, profs and the media. So if any of your diehard Republicans dare demonstrate your opposition to our next President in this mean-spirited bumper sticker way, you are likely to be harshly dealt with by state and local authorities.

As President, Obama will use the full extent of his power as President to limit the utilization of free speech to the detriment of the country.
Part of the brilliance of the man is that, as though divinely inspired, he, like a prophet, knows what’s best for the country. So I implore you: Acquiesce to his higher intelligence. Obama represents change for the better. Change that will transform America into a country beloved both across the seas and here at home.
Barack knows what’s best for you. Don’t let your more base instincts show. Remember, by demonstrating your love for Obama, you’re demonstrating your love for your country.

What a magnificent insight: In fact, my husband and I were so moved by Obama’s desire to keep Jesus Christ and Catholics in particular in their place, that we’ve begun attending Obama’s former church where the good Reverend Wright is the full time pastor once again. In his sermon this past Sunday, in fact, the Reverend shared with his congragation a recent telephone conversation between himself and Barack Obama in which Barack said that, when elected President, he planned to do away with the Christmas tree lighting on the White House lawn because he wants the country to adopt more meaningful values. My husband and I are looking forward to the day when the light that shines down when Obama speaks bathes us all, Republicans, Democrats and those of weaker faiths like Catholics, in hope and change.
And as to not visiting wounded soldiers in Germany, I can only say Barack’s responsibility is not just to them, but his concerns are much bigger and more important. He’s looking out for the good of the whole country. Albeit, the entire world by creating a new world order.

Class comes after (1) race, (2) gender, (3) sexual orientation, (4) the environment, (5) the Third World, and (6) the disabled. Once the left meets the demands of all those other groups, only then will it give something to the middle class, if there’s anything left to give.

It is not enouigh the voters wise up to Obama, Mr. McCain has not said one inspiring thing to motivate those on the left to switch their vote to the right. John McCain calling for more domestic drilling has no chance at putting him over the top. Intelligent Americans know that new oil exploration will only produce returns at least 5 years down the road. A good estimate of how much oil is in Alaska puts its supply at about 300 days of oil for American consumers. A $.50 drop in the price of oil for a year does not quite excite the electorate for a John McCain victory. In fact John McCain hasn’t excited anyone since he hid Cindy’s pills a couple years ago.

Iraq therefore sold oil on there own( black market )to china, India, Russia and, corporations who sell oil, gas, ect.. in the U.S. and, the U.K. When the first gulf war started it was over mutual oil fields between Kuwait and Iraq.
How can one be concerned over social programs when we are selling the country to fund a imperialist corporate war? Do you realize the amount we have borrowed from non-allied nations? So I’ve done you a great favor and right now the “NOBAMA” bumper stickers are being replaced with the following bumper stickers “BARRY BARRY QUITE CONTRARY” or if you prefer, “SCARY BARRY QUITE CONTRARY” and they’re moving like the proverbial hot cakes!

What I think I just saw was perhaps the “fruit” of “community organizing.” Coming home to bite BO in the rear. Did it surprise him too?
BO at a townhall – yes, I guess he’s now doing one – was interrupted by several young men with a banner reading: What About the Black Community, Obama? shouting down BO as he spoke. BO got them calmed down and later answered their question. Telling them he’d often addressed their concerns. Umm hmm…
Isn’t this what BO/Alinsky agitators produce? By planting resentment, don’t we get impolite, angry folks who look to government to bail them out of their messes? People who suspect they’re the victims of all kinds of wrongs?
And the strange thing is, those same Alinsky “agitators” seem to be the authors of those nasty messes…

Housing? Wasn’t it the good friend (and benefactor!) Rezko that Hillary referred to as that “slumlord” in the debate? Not surprising. He took taxpayer money and built such poorly constructed buildings that before long they were deemed “uninhabitable.” And of course, he walked away from it all.
Home mortage mess? All I’ve heard is that some Dems (including BO!) have been getting some awfully good deals at some banks that have what? Gone under? And now, the taxpayer is bailing them out? Thanks. We needed that.
Housing, education and healthcare. What a record of success. And no intent to personally profit from any of it. Always thinking of the “little guy.”
In fact, he’ll even assure you of that in church. All the while reminding you of who your real enemy is – and how angry you should be at him. That evil oppressor.
One might almost think the failures were by design in order to have a “savior” come along to make everything all wonderful again.

Our population is so smitten with intellectual sloth that it really has no idea that Obama is messing with their heads. What’s worse, Obama has never critically examined his Marxist beliefs. If a man in his forties is still enamored of socialist ideas, I have to seriously question the quality of his intellect. Eventhough I don’t think I can persuade you to back Barack Obama (B.O. as you Republicans like to insultingly refer to him), I do appreciate your kind words; that you enjoy reading the Rachelian point of view, accent on the second syllable.
What I don’t appreciate, and this is not an attack on you, Fred, my boy.
My problem is with McCain’s fanatical 527 Groups who, as we speak, are recording three anti-Obama song parodies. By far the most offensive is, “Obama” to the tune of Richie Valen’s La Mamba (on, now don’t hold me to this) the flip side of his 1959 hit, “Donna”. Directed at the Latin vote, this recording will be evil personified because it will make fun of someone so visionary and worldly that he’s being compared to the great prophet Muhammad.
The next two song parodies are almost just as offensive to my admittedly blond, blue-eyed, female sensibilities.
One is called, “Paint it black” and centers around Obama allegedly wanting to paint the White House black, metaphorically, of course. Orignally this was a Rolling Stones ditty.
The third parody is from the 60′s musical, Hair, a song called, “Donna,” changed, you guessed it, to Obama. It’s about looking for the real Obama. Like yesterday he said he was against off shore drilling and today he’s implying he’s for it. Duh, Obama is about change. As in change your mind.
It just fries my bacon that Republicans have so little respect for the tallest tree in a forest of Presidential timber, Obama Barack, that they’d stoop so limbo low as to make a laughingstock of the most charismatic speaker who’s ever stood in front of 300,000 applauding, fanatical Germans since, well, I dare say, Adolph Hitler.
Now, I could have said, Mario Cuomo, but the speech wasn’t in New York; it was in Berlin during the great Obama world tour.
I must admit, I swoon every time I hear Obama speak. He’s so masterful. So in control. I do love the sound of his voice, so much so, that if he just babbled gobbligook, I still be captured by the spell. And the softness of his eyes. My oh my how they hypnotize. He’s everything a girl could want, my oh my, what a prize.
It’s like, the soon to be (fingers crossed) President Obama is the father of the world. And we’re all the world’s children. Whoops, it’s lights out in the dorm. I’m at college in Evanston, IL. Goodnight. And dream a little dream of Obama.
Obama is taking the low road! He is trying to fool us by creating an
illusion of gravitas all the while using the might of what he wants to
destroy to gain access to world leaders. Let him make America a second
rate military power and his celebrity will plummet like a stone with the
Europeans.
Obama is the enemy of the old Americans living on saving and productive
Americans. He will make life better for some but worse for others. His
change has a zero sum. In the long run it will be a disaster with the
top and bottom of the economic strata meeting at the bottom. Forcing
change by removing freedom and opportunity only culminates in
mediocrity. There is always room at the top, the top raises the bottom.
Forcing the top down only pushes the bottom down. Imagine this country
with 10 percent unemployment. How much worse than the Carter years
would that be.
Do not begrudge the oil companies for their profits. Those profits will
result in new products and economic demand. No profits result in
stagnation and decline. Keep the shinny side up, trucker.

Priding himself on working with churches to bring change. It’s that “community organizing” he loves to remind us all about. It may be the only thing he can legitimately put on his resume.

Remember, just a few months ago Chicago erupted in violence – guns killing a kid a day, wasn’t it? – so out of control they considered calling in the National Guard. Thank you, Barry. Is this the success we can believe in?

You want to take guns away from folks. Well, I suppose that makes sense where you come from. You partnered with preachers to teach hate. I can see why they have no hope. Why they’re angry and frustrated. You – their savior – have given them nothing but failed housing, failed schools and hospitals that take advantage of them. You’ve failed them, Barry. Your ‘change’ hasn’t worked in little ol’ Chicago the past 20 years.
