I’m puzzled how you, as a self-described “conservative liberal,” can support the creation of a bureaucratic super-state with only a minimal connection to democracy. Will the Eurocrats in Brussels be required to listen to the elected European Parliament under this new treaty?

After EU bureaucrats promised the EU electorate that they could vote the EU Constitution up or down, the voters rejected it.

The EU has now taken the necessary corrective action: EU bureaucrats and politicians will force the treaty down the throats of the citizens — who will not have any say whatever in its implementation this time around. You see, the voters voted wrong, and can not be trusted.

Karl Marx warned of the possibility of a historical appendix that could derail the path between capitalism and communism, wherein legions of nameless, faceless and unaccountable bureaucrats could possibly take over and rule, stopping any further [what Marx called] progress. Now it’s happened. And the pathetic European serfs won’t do much besides a little arm-waving. Then they’ll settle down and be good, compliant slaves working for their bureaucratic masters — who, of course, know what’s best for them.

I worked 35 years in the US and I never heard the expression “…new boss, same as old boss.” Actually, it doesn’t make any sense. All my bosses were completely different from the previous ones, albeit incompetent in different ways in most cases. The phrase sounds French or possibly from the 1930′s.

As for the new constitution, the people I talked to in Europe didn’t know or care anything about it. Almost liked they were disconnected from society. Strange, no?

Actually, I believe it The Who’s Pete Townsend, a subject of the UK, who wrote in the last line of “Won’t Get Fooled Again”:

“Meet the new boss; same as the old boss.”

The European Union bureaucrats have never given up on their plan to take over. What was it the playwright said? “Well, well, let’s get on with it.”

I understand that democratic governments are elected to legislate and govern on behalf of the people that chose them. However, do the constitutions of the individual European countries allow elected officials to summarily hand their countries’ national sovereignties over to a super-national organization without the will of the people being consulted?

The United States Constitution prevents this. Thank-you Founding Fathers!
