My Evening with Bill Ayers, Cindy Sheehan, and Some Creepy Communist Lady
It has been said that hell is a place where there is no reason. Assuming some truth applies to this, I spent almost two hours in hell this past Tuesday night when I attended “An Evening with Bill Ayers & Cindy Sheehan” at the Evanston Public Library.
A stone’s throw away from the Northwestern undergraduate campus, the former terrorist and anti-war activist met a group of approximately 60, most of whom were thirsty for the vileness their radical heroes would spew. I was one of the 60, armed with a camera and the disgusted feeling that I was missing Charles Krauthammer’s response to the president’s Oval Office speech on Fox News.
Accompanying these cretins in their jaded ideological horror-show was self-avowed communist Sunsara Taylor, organizer for “World Can’t Wait,” a radical leftist group whose mission statement seeks (still!) “to repudiate and stop the fascist direction initiated by the Bush Regime.” Needless to say, the former president’s name was brought up often, a telling reminder of where our current president gets his cues in playing the blame game.
Still, the focus of the evening was on Ayers, who appeared to be the only panelist capable of stringing a fluid sentence together. (Sheehan acted as if she just woke from a drug-induced nap, and Taylor’s noxious rants about the evils of America and virtues of communism seemed to scare the already-liberal crowd.) Ayers insisted with regret and disappointment that Obama is “moderate,” “pragmatic,” and “compromising,” hardly the radical for which many had hoped. Apparently the president’s leftist-laced agenda and alienation of most of the citizenry is not enough for the man who once bombed the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol.
Responding to my question about the Gaza flotilla incident, Ayers tersely responded that the U.S. response was “shameful.” I thought to myself: Could my question have instantly converted Ayers into a pro-Israeli activist, rightfully believing that the administration had failed by not offering its full support for the tiny Jewish nation? Sarcasm aside, he predictably remarked that he was appalled that our government did not denounce the Israeli response outright. A vocal supporter of the “Free Gaza Movement,” Ayers continued his rant, emphasizing that “Palestinians are disrespected and told that they’re dirt every day, in every way, so where’s the outrage there?” No word on whether or not he thinks Jews should “go home” to Germany or Poland.

There’s a world of difference between “micro funding/humanitarian programs” and “blowing up buildings”, or even the worshipping of the “hammer and sickle” so often associated with radical left-wing fringe groups in America, or the demise of the U.S.S.R. Frankly, if the human population would take on a more lineal initiative, towards self-attainment as an example, instead of standing around with it’s collective, and expectant hand out, there would be a lot less indigence, or need for the liberal ideology of extolling the virtues of the welfare state. You hear this stuff all the time; it tells you how successful the brainwashing is. An extreme right-wing form of collectivism (that’d be government) is a monarchy or theocracy. Mercantilism is its final economic form, and it dominated the West for hundreds of years.
The principles of individual freedom and free markets apply every bit as much to the Marxism that informs EVERY Progressive and most everyone in the West as it did to the mercantilism of old. That’s why Progressivism is a leaning toward Medievalism, instead of away from it.
What guys like Alex can’t get through their heads is that freedom means freedom. If they want to go join a collective to starve and freeze in the cold, none of us will try to stop them. We want them to be free. What they don’t want is our freedom. They’re too small to accommodate it.
Of course, they will say that they don’t want collectivism because they want revenge on the rest of us for thinking little of them, or because they want the feeling of power, though vicarious. Nope. It’s for the poor, the downtrodden. But then, they’re free to give up their time and their resources to handle those problems. They’re free to start their own non-profit HMOs to get them health care.
But the Alexes of the world are also too small for that.
Funny thing is, it’s been the extreme right wing that have supported and funded micro humanitarian efforts.

It makes my skin crawl that this crap was hosted at a public library with puplic tax dollars, the whole thing organized by librarians who ostensibly work for the public. How can you host an event with terrorists bent destroying the very public that pays your salary and for whom ostensibly, you serve? They just don’t seem to get or care that people like this would have no problem bombing the library and killing everyone inside, if it served their purpose. I am a librarian and this whole thing make me physically ill and ashamed for public libraries and my profession. My professional organization, the ALA, hides behind a banner of “free speech” and likes to think of librarians as these free speech warrior types, when in reality most of them are a bunch of leftist misfits, furious that they couldn’t find jobs in academia and determined to foist their radical leftisim on the public. Free speech my ass. Let them try to hold TEa Party rally event at that library, and see what happens. I am sure you’d hear lots of talk about “security” then!

Someone once defined an intellectual as “a second-hand dealer in ideas.” For many self-proclaimed “intellectuals,” of course, this definition fits to a “T!!” My grandfather was a Librarian – and a very respected one at that – but that was 100 years ago when our value system was not so upside down & backwards. He founded a successful Librarianship School out of the City & County Library (this was ages before “degrees” in “Library Science” even existed, let alone were awarded!); and although he was considered a “liberal/progressive” thinker, he still was very much of the old school and would probably be appalled at the Marxist ideology that prevails today. On the other hand, he might even have been one of them! But his ideas did NOT reasonate with his son – my father – who was the essence of the individual entrepreneur/risk-taker and preferred the capitalist system right down to struts!!)

I grew up on a college campus as the son of college professors and one of my father’s sisters was a HS librarian, so I have a soft spot for libraries and librarians, but the world of academia today is nothing but a fever-swamp of leftist seething discontent and propagandizing. My Aunt Maureen is probably turning over in her grave at the thought/sight of today’s trends in “library science.”
First of all disrespect is a noun not a verb. Mr. Ayers apparently knows as much about Israel as he does about the English language. He has listened to complaints made by his Hamas friends, but doesn’t have his own experience with life in the region. He doesn’t even acknowledge what Hamas “warriors” have done to Gazans who oppose their absolute rule. He ignores what Radical Islam says about Jews, starting from “Itbach al Yahud,” or “Kaybar,” their prophet’s massacre of Jews with enslavement of Jewish women and children, through endless insults which draw inspiration from the Koran. Is that respect? Respect seems to be a word used only in connection with Muslims.

In an article about Obama’s background on the J Post about a year or so ago, an Israeli woman, an immigrant from the US, wrote a post. She said that she had been a grad student at Michigan and was a friend or girlfriend of Ayers, I don’t remember which one. One day she was at the apt he shared with a black roommate. She was ready to leave the apt, she wrote, when Ayers informed her that his roommate would like to have sex with her, and that she would not in fact be leaving until she did. Apparently he blocked her from leaving, then she was raped.
That was her story, in any case. Ayers’ wife is supposedly of ‘Jewish origin’, and on an anti-Zionist crusade forever; and a terrorist. And Ayers feeds other Jewish women into the arms of rapists, apparently. Nice guy. I wish he had gone to prison for life for the bombings.
I’d thought the SDS had all grown up and become middle class, like me and countless others. I had protested the Vietnam war and took adolescent pleasure in shocking my elders. But I certainly didn’t want to destroy my civilization and for years I’d assumed the ex-radicals would follow suit. After the rise of Obama and my growing alarm at his choice of associates, to my surprise, I noticed that these aging libertines unable to get dates in college really meant it – meant it as in suffering from a mental illness called Oikophobia (coined by Roger Scruton, oikos=house, family, nation), an irrational fear of the Judeo-Christian religion and the humane traditions of the West. Ayers in particular is a good example of the “exalted nihilist” rejected by an establishment which rewards material status over intellectual achievement.

Trust your own good sense: there is no payoff for bombing in America now since they make their home here. Kudos Kyle. I tried the infiltration method to get a first hand look at the inner workings and thinking at my local county Democrat meeting. I suggest every single conservative do this. It is only after that experience will you know how vile and evil these people are. And I’m in Texas. Used to be, the saying goes, that a Texas Democrat would be a good Repulican any where else in the country. Not anymore. The Democrat party in Texas has been as infiltrated with hard core Marxist as any other Democrat party group that spans across the entire country.
The difference between the Republican meetings and the Democratic meetings was like night and day. Civil discourse and good will versus a one hour debate between the board chairs about who can be authorized to speak at the meeting under the rules.

I still think it’s worth recalling and restating Bill Ayers’ privileged background (and there has been more than one dissection of the internecine connections among the Chicago movers & shakers – i.e., the Mob that still prevails while the old Mafia is pretty much decimated): Namely, his father was chairman of a major utilities company, very wealthy and VERY well-connected; and it was those connections and his father’s powerful position that got the best corrupt lawyers in town to get his rotten kid off the hook for the crimes he committed in the 60s. The sad thing is, that cancerous pimple (son Bill) just never went away, but it metastisized throughout the academmic and political community and its rotten legacy is on view for all to see. One cannot overstate the pivotal role that Ayres played in getting the conniving, narcisstic Obama into public office. For that alone, he will be assigned a special place – close the furnaces – in Hell when his time (soon, please God!) finally comes!
What a perfectly nauseating way to spend an evening. I have no doubt listening to Sheehan, in particular, was like enduring the endless screeching of nails on a chalkboard. The truth is, these people may think they’ve finally recaptured their heady radical youth in Obama, but in reality, their dirty Marxist linen (no pun intended… well, okay, forgive me) is being exposed to all the world in all its warty glory. They’ve always secretly wished to create a new aristocracy over the peasantry, but they no longer have the luxury of hiding behind lofty platitudes and media-edited sound bytes.

My employers are Texas demonrats. At the heart of the matter these miseducated folk have accepted the premise that the ends justify the means. Having long since abandoned any thought that there might be a God in heaven and carrying a powerful disdain for the common man or ordinary citizen … they want a police state with themselves, the elite, at the helm.
The fact that the rabble may be a bit randy these days is largely because the public school system has been reduced to a poorly run kindergarten is not part of their consciousness.
That the pirates who have recently sunk our banking and finance system all came out of the ivy league schools they clamor to get their rotten little brats into seems not to disturb them.
My particular bosses are all concerned about the environment. This is their cause celeb. Because of carbon emissions everything our Founding Fathers believe must be expunged from the public mind and present day reality.
That totalitarianism naturally and inexorably follows and grows out of statism and collectivism is an unknown quantity to them. Or they don’t give a rat’s patout.

And I would comfort the librarian who comments above with this thought: the vicious acts and language of these creeps need exposure, just like those of the Ku Klux Klan. Mr. Stone noticed that the audience reacted negatively to comments about the “evils” of our country and the “virtues” of communism. Normal people in this country assume that people are innocent until proven guilty. This is a fundamental, and deeply held principle ingrained in our society to the point of becoming a habit. So, someone who believes in big government and universal healthcare, and who things the rabid right is lying about the dangers of these people can go to the library and see them in their own element. It may have been a genuine learning experiments for a few Democrats, and that would be a good thing.

I too have had the “pleasure” of running into Ms. Sheehan. I was part of an “angry mob” that counter protested her visit to Denny Hastert’s office in Batavia. It would obvious that she was void of any intelligent ideas when the counter protest got her off of her prepared speech. It was even more amazing when me, an ordinary citizen, was given as much time as Cindy on the 10 o’clock news that evening. I was able to refute her message and I did not even have any prepared notes.
I also managed to become a face book friend of hers and managed to insert myself in her bizarre group of friends. I knew I was doing the right thing when her leftist friends started to freak out at my comments. I hit pay dirt when she un-friended me and called me a racist reactionary. She did not like it when I called her friend Hugo a d—he-bag.

Yes that is the least he admits to. However, I’ve never heard him deny that he is an attempted murderer and a successful terrorist.
Bill Ayers was the founder of a terrorist organization that murdered twelve policemen. It is a statement about the peaceful nature of this society that he is even alive. If we were even remotely like him, he and his wife would be long since dead.
