Modern Democratic ‘Fire-Eaters’
In the period immediately before the Civil War, the most ferocious rhetoric came out of the mouths of Southern Democrats who were soon known as “fire-eaters.” They got that nickname because of the strength of their rhetoric in support of slavery and their willingness to talk about secession as a response to the possibility of abolitionists gaining influence in Congress, and even winning the White House. The louder and more ferocious speeches they gave, the stronger the abolitionist position seemed to become.
Today, we again have Democratic fire-eaters whose violent rhetoric is strengthening the support enjoyed by their opponents. First it was a statement by Professor Erik Loomis at the University of Rhode Island, saying that he wanted “Wayne LaPierre’s head on a stick.” Okay, maybe that was just hyperbolic rhetoric, intended as a figure of speech. Now, we have a far less figurative statement by Donald Kaul in the Des Moines Register:
Declare the NRA a terrorist organization and make membership illegal. Hey! We did it to the Communist Party, and the NRA has led to the deaths of more of us than American Commies ever did. (I would also raze the organization’s headquarters, clear the rubble and salt the earth, but that’s optional.) Make ownership of unlicensed assault rifles a felony. If some people refused to give up their guns, that “prying the guns from their cold, dead hands” thing works for me.
Is that clear enough for you? He is declaring his desire to see millions of Americans killed to support his goals, while at the same time making membership in a peaceful organization a criminal matter.
It gets worse: “Then I would tie Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, our esteemed Republican leaders, to the back of a Chevy pickup truck and drag them around a parking lot until they saw the light on gun control.” I remember a few years ago an incident where several criminals in Texas did something like that to a black man; it is obvious who Kaul sees as his role models. Donald Kaul thinks that disagreeing with him about a political matter justifies torturing someone to death.

If I ever find that I am totally screwed…I will deal!
Democrats yearn to be the tyranny we refused from King George III.
Yep, an absolute monarchy … so I fully expect that presidential terms limits will be the next folly to come along, when an opportune moment arises of course.
Proposals to end Presidential term limits have be introduced since Reagan’s second term. It takes 2/3 of each house and 3/4 of the States to ratify a new amendment. That is an insurmountable barrier to any fundamental tinkering with the Constitution on any hot button issue. And no, the SCOTUS cannot declare an Amendment unconstitutional. Let’s stay focused on the real threat and not go off on snipe hunt.
Until Roper V. Simmons (using foreign law to declare a punishment authorized by the Constitution unconstitutional), I would have agreed with you. But, if Obama gets to replace two more of the conservatives on the USSC, anything is possible.
King Barak I can just issue an executive order, the ignore any court ruling or Congressional investigation. He is above the law.
This is the same SCOTUS that approved land theft under Kelo, pretzeled itself to say that obamacare was constutitional, and hasn’t ordered the arrest and imprisonment of federales who have ignored court orders?
The more I see of this current crop of Libs, the less I see the Crypto Fascists/Communists they used to be. And the more I see the Second Coming of the classic Jacobins. Complete with all of the MARAT wannabes of the press. All that’s missing (so far) is ‘Madame Guillotine’ on the steps of the capital. And Tumbrels coming down Pennsylvania Ave filled with the ‘Enemies of the People’ and ‘Class Enemies’.
This brings to mind something I read about Harry Truman’s beliefs about power. He who would never be accepted in today’s Democratic Party. (Heck, even Henry Wallace would not be accepted.)
“Harry Truman, long after he had been President of the United States, said, “If a man can accept a situation in a place of power with the thought that it’s only temporary, he comes out all right. But when he thinks that he is the cause of the power, that can be his ruination.”
Truman’s admiration for Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus, the Roman who answered the call to save the Republic, reflects his own clear understanding of the limits of power. Cincinnatus, an aristocrat and consul, was pushed out of power and forced to live and work on his small farm. When Rome was threatened, he was invited to be dictator. He accepted the invitation, saved Rome, and gave up his power to return to his farm.
Truman’s exit from the presidency was not so dramatic, but he never confused the presidency’s power with his own. When his term of office ended, so did his power, as he knew it should. His thoroughly clear sense of self, and his humility, made it impossible for him to believe otherwise.
When he returned to his home in Independence, an ex-president, a reporter asked him what he had done first. “Carried the grips up to the attic,” he said. Cincinnatus might have said the same thing.”

Jacobins. Exactly!
“If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”
– Samuel Adams
these two remind me of the mouthy kid in jr high that thought he was a bad azz until someone got tired of his bs and beat the crap outta him. oh yea, i think i will go pizzoff a bunch of people with guns. very smart.
I missed Kaul’s idiocy because of having decided, long ago, not to read his “rubbish columns”–as a local commentator labeled them. I usually bother merely to draw clown makeup on his portrait.
It’s not so much Kaul’s idiocy, anyone can be an idiot on an issue. It’s that his violent and torture-advocacy language made it past the editors and publishers. Other people read this column and decided that it was worth spending money to print it.
Yes — there are endless numbers of idiots and mouth-breathers. It’s the prominence they’re given that frightens.
Consider that MSNBC handed a prime time slot to a man who stirred up multiple race riots that resulted in deaths.
that’s Al Sharpton
Exactly. There are plenty of individuals on all sides of the political spectrum who say obnoxious or downright vicious things. The real question is the extent to which these expressions are repudiated, tolerated, or condoned by “respectable” agents.
The Left winks at or even endorses these things and thus ensures their increase.
“…not in an obscure lunatic fringe location, but in a [FB: formerly] serious daily newspaper: the Des Moines Register.”
When Liberals scream obscene words in My face… I rock back on my heels…I rest my hand on my .45 grip and smile back.. It Makes People alot more polite !!
LOL!! I forgot about Kaul! He’s always been a fire-breathing whackjob but has not been on the RADAR screen for some time. Looks like nothing’s changed though.
After emailing the Des Moines Register objecting to this, their reply to me was that the column was “satire.” So apparently they received so many complaints regarding it that they had to pretend that OF COURSE, they don’t advocate the killing of people they disagree with. Pathetic.
Satire? Yeah like Ted Kacysnki’s published manifesto was a policy analysis paper.
What exactly was he satirizing? Irrational, totalitarian-minded leftists?
and then, when I asked if they would print an article of mine which called for the murder of several Des Moines Register reporters and their families, which would of course be satire, I got no response.
One characteristic of totalitarian movements is that they inevitably attract people who want to hurt other people simply because they enjoy doing so. The “cause” is largely irrelevant; such people are merely looking for an excuse.
It’s the mindset of the schoolyard bully, and in spite of decades of wrong assumptions by “social scientists” the problem is not “low self-esteem”. It is runaway egotism and narcissism. Having dealt with such people face-to-face, I long ago realized that their belief is that they are inherently better than everybody else, and thus deserve to have the privilege of doing whatever they want to everybody else. Which is pretty obvious from the examples cited here.
As to what they really want, it is to have power and abuse it. And to make others bow down to them- so they can kick those others in the teeth as hard as they can, and laugh.
You are not dealing with reasonable, or even rational, actors here. Keep that in mind.
clear ether

This brings to mind something I recently read about Harry Truman’s beliefs about power. He who would never be accepted by the Chicago mindset of today’s national Democratic Party. (Even Henry Wallace would not be accepted.)

The Leftst ideology is without a doubt a totalitarian one but who will fight for them? The makeup of the Left isn’t exactly filled with the warrior type. It is we, not they, who have the overwhelming number of weapons. It is we, not they that comprise the bulk of the military. If it ever came down to a fight we woud annihilate them.
Precisely why they use wimpy means like the “justice” system and the media to get what they want.
They already have their army, whole, simmering, inner cities of them, union thugs, etc. The LimoLibs need do nothing to get their hands dirty other than holler “release the Kraken!” Why do you think they’re going after the law abiding gun owner, but not deploying overwhelming federal and state law enforcement assets into the inner cities?
See the Instapundit’s comments on how it’s hard to get good union thugs anymore.
With the decline of private sector industrial unions (who’s members often are pro-gun), instead of men doing hard labor often in teams where anyone screwing up got people killed, they’re now public sector union types. E.g. DMV clerks. Outside of the bureaucratic context that give them power they’ve not particularly scary.
Because those “overwhelming federal and state law enforcement assets” are smart enough to realize that they would be the ones overwhelmed.
If one of us said something like that, there would be knocking at the door.
Satire or not, come on down to the sunny south…
Kaul/Ayers, the mainstreaming of lunacy.
The Democrats are cut from the same cloth as Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and many others. As such, their two great loves are tyranny and mass murder.
Think not?
Just look to Obama’s government to see the tyrannical impulse.
Their love of murder? Look at the movies lefty Hollywood turns out. Plenty of movies with gratuitous violence and sex (more on that below). These peaceniks who oppose war and want guns taken away make ultraviolent movies and music for their base to consume. Also there is abortion. Abortion is the nearest and dearest thing to the liberal’s heart even though it represents 40 million dead, a number close to edging out Stalin’s score. Liberals refuse to bend on this politically sanctified form of mass murder.
The liberals are also combining violence with sex. These days you have movies with extreme violence followed by graphic sex thus linking the two. Their pornography is well ahead of the curve though with violent sex becoming the norm rather than the aberration. The more these two base instincts become linked, the more feral and dangerous liberals will become as the liberals essentially orgasm from violence.
But then this is the way the cycle goes. The Totalitarians (liberals) can’t stand opposition to their control so they create enemies of their opposition. They dehumanize and demonize them while riling up their worshipers for violence. Eventually they will be secure enough in their power, and their enemies weak enough, there is a Kristallnacht and all that follows. But what the liberal rank and file is too dense to understand is that once their first enemies are gone, their leaders will need more enemies to blame for their failings. Thus there will be more and more purges. Have fun with that, liberals.
I’ve taken to calling it ‘pro-active necrophilia’.
LOL, thank goodness these bozos don’t have the guns – - we do. If they think that the military and law enforcement will do their bidding they can dream on. They can try to take our guns themselves, but being the cowards that they are – good luck.
Enough of the police and military WOULD go along to make them very dangerous. Even more District Attorneys and Judges would go along to prosecute anyone who dare use a gun or other weapon against the Democrat’s chosen ones, like is happening in England. Criminals get away with most anything, but let a civilian raise a hand against one whilst committing a crime and that civilian will feel the full weight of the legal system.
Ever heard of the Millgram Experiment? If not, look it up for more detail than I can provide here. This test was repeated a few years ago. What they found is that significantly more people were willing to go all the way than in the past. That indicates that people are more narcissistic and sociopathic today making them more likely to go along with violent repression. Given how many people have become dependent on government, that’s a lot of free support for whatever measures may come. (You might also check out the Stanford Prison Experiment for what could happen when they are recruited into positions of power.)
About a decade ago, I received a letter from some bureaucrat instructing me that, as part of a new 911 system I was required to post house number digits on my mailbox. In order to improve emergency services the County was joining some neighboring counties in a system the had already implemented in more urban areas.
The mandated signage had to be a certain letter height, color, font, etc.
So far- so reasonable, right?
Then this pencil pushing bureaucrat closed the letter informing me of the massive fine and legal actions if I failed to comply by a certain date.
Everyone in the county got the same letter.
It was right about that time that all hell broke loose.
By the time the dust settled, the system had been dismantled in the county, the signage requirements had been rescinded and at least one County commissioner had resigned on account of death threats.
Rural areas can be stubborn that way. …..lol.
If any fool ever decides to go into that County to confiscate guns, forget the ammo as there is already plenty of it there.
Better to lay in a massive supply of popcorn as it is going to be one hell of a show!
Oh, and just for giggles do a little research on how many red vs blue counties there are in the country.
“Satire” is what we used to call kidding on the square.Really, Kaul would like to see something like this happen, but he tries to pretend it’s satire. What is it about the Midwest that amongst all the good hard working folks, it produces turds like this ? Isn’t Ted Rall from the Midwest also?
“Declare the NRA a terrorist organization and make membership illegal. Hey! We did it to the Communist Party”
Since when? The CPUSA is alive and well with ample funding. And they are quite close to the Progressive Caucus in congress.
By “quite close” to you mean “indistinguishable”?
they endorse Obama
It’s slightly alarming to hear this coming from older people, but I know firsthand that the 18-35 Progressive set is ALL ABOUT wanting their political ‘enemies’ dead.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen Proggies that age either threaten (or otherwise say “I can’t wait for you to die”) to someone who doesn’t go along with their pet social issue of the day.
That’s not really new. In college in the early 1990′s that mindset already existed with the liberal loudmouths making threats or even trying to ambush people who’s views they didn’t like, typically in the restroom and in numbers. Over the years I’ve run into them more and more away from campuses. I’ve gotten sneers, whispered threats, and such in airports and train stations from young, and not so young, punks for reading Conservative magazines or talking to other people and expression opinions they didn’t like.
These will some of Obama’s footsoldiers when the time comes, just like they were in past “revolutions.”
Have we reached the point yet, where we might say “A good Democrat, is a dead Democrat?”
Yes.
NO.
Anyone who believes that is as much of a totalitarian thug as the worst of the leftists. Over one half of our countrymen vote Democrat and most of them are decent people who haven’t a clue.
Good grief.
Would you say that a “Good Nazi (Communist, or any deformed, derailed ideologist or gnostic Muslim) is a dead …..?” If so, what, pray tell, is the difference between a Nazi, Communist, or Democrat? All embrace a form of systemic, codified slaughter, tyranny, and the dictatorship. You will come to understand that just as you could not live among Nazis or communists you can not live among Democrats for the very same reasons.
“most of them are decent people who haven’t a clue.” Does it matter that they don’t have a clue if they refuse to get one even when smothered in clue musk during clue mating season in a field full of horny clues? At some point, the clueless people who vote for such stupidity will get their comeuppance. I will hate to see it, as a majority of my aunts and uncles are nice, well meaning people who are wonderful to be around, but don’t have the sense god gave a rock. They buy the BS pushed by libs, vote dem, and you cannot have a rational conversation with them because they have no concept of logic or reason – just emotion. Feelings trump all. And it’s 100% their fault if their stupidity triggers another civil war. I used to not understand how brother could fight brother in the civil war, now I understand only too clearly. Sometimes, no matter how decent a person seems, if they are willing to see you shot so they can “feel” safe, even if they want to do it by proxy to protect their widdle feelings – “Well the cops shot him, not me” -yet they were the ones pushing for gun bans, etc, that set the thing in motion – IT”S THEIR FAULT!
The Left talks this way all the time. The Left has committed mass murder in Germany, USSR, CPR, Cambodia, Cuba, and dozens of other places. I have no doubt that the American Left would do the same thing here if they could.
Progressives, minus the union goons, have got big mouths but no stomach for a real fight. Witnessed it a hundred times. Frankly, these obvious eunuchs with running mouths and zero guts bore me.
Ever met some of these editorial stooges? The Paul Krugman types? You’ll never meet bigger cowards face to face. Keyboard Cowboys. You’d laugh out loud if you saw them. About the only analogy I can make is they must have been the strange kids with wet pants that sat in the corner in grade school and shuffled through the system. They’re going to threaten me?
Okay. Come and get some.
This notion that the left is full of pantywaists that would never be a physical threat to rural, flyover types is misguided. Hitler’s and Stalin’s goons weren’t necessarily tough guys who would fight you one on one. They were bullies who used the firepower and authority given them by the state to overwhelm anyone foolish enough to oppose tyranny.
There are more than enough members of the FSA (Free Sh*t Army) out there right now to take guns from the effete members of the left and make life miserable for the rest of us.
Don’t disagree. But this isn’t Hitler and Stalin’s goons, either. I was talking about as individual – as yes, without the threat of the courts, the politicians, the fear of political correctness and its new definition of tolerance with the state run amok, I find progressives standing by themselves lame.
I actually prefer this rube’s approach, rather than the snakes who work behind the scenes to circumvent liberty and freedom. So, let him step up to the plate and take a swing. We shouldn’t dissuade these types from speaking hate – we should encourage it. From the last election, it is more than obvious too many slumber – this language makes it clear the stakes.
Don’t make the mistake of believing in this post modernism America of ours, I’m not well aware of the threat and have said as much numerous times on this board.
That’s why they always have an army of irregulars functioning as their enforcers. The ideological purity of these enforcers isn’t all that important, what’s important is that they know who butters their bread and that they’re willing to dirty their hands in ways that the True Believers might not. Very often this means nothing more complicated than emptying the prisons of thugs and common criminals in exchange for their loyalty.
Choose Your Own Crime Stats
An interesting look at Crime Stats in the United States using data from the FBI that doesn’t seem to be getting much discussion from either the press or politicians. There has been a 50% reduction in the violent crime rate in the last twenty years and neither political party is taking credit for this? I thought politicians always wanted to take credit for good things? Perhaps they don’t want to draw attention to the fact that higher crime rates seem to correspond with inner cities? The great thing about living in the United States is you’re Free To Choose, at least for now, so feel free to Choose Your Own Crime Stats if you don’t like these.

“Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance they are the peoples liberty teeth”
George Washington
Washington never said that. Rural legend.
Ditto. This quote has been floating around for a while, and is completely bogus.
Consider the source…a minor newspaper columnist whose greatest accomplishment was to be a member of a troika that replaced Mike Royko.
Retired, or semi-retired, after a heart-attack, and facing his own mortality and his apparent present and future irrelevancy in influencing the laws the way he thinks they should be.
What we have here is a pathetic old geezer protesting his own weakness and fantasizing about being the vigorous young man of action that he thinks he once was.
He would declare the contents of my gun-safe illegal and have me prosecuted for owning them?
If he had the courage to come and try apprehending me personally, he would be permanently retired and he furthermore would find that dragging people behind pick-up trucks would place him squarely and inarguably in the category of persons whom my state’s deadly force laws provide for using deadly force against.
That the Des Moines Register actually published this incitement to hate-crimes and endorsement of un-American tyranny tells me all that I need to know about their editorial policy.
whole goddamn state
We make a mistake when we underestimate the depths to which the hard Left is capable of sinking. While it is true that individual Progressives may lack personal courage, put them in a large enough crowd and one must marvel at their transition.
For example, recall the last time a conservative had the audacity to speak publicly on campus. Once in sufficient numbers these cowardly lap-dogs become veritable junk-yard pit-bulls baying for their victim’s blood.
And look back to history’s lessons. As soon as they consolidate power, Leftist tyrants, from Robespierre, Hitler and Stalin to Castro, Chavez or Putin, immediately enlisted the dregs of their societies, empowering bullies, thugs and criminals all too willing to do their bidding. The guards at Auschwitz-Birkenau, Solzhenitsyn’s Gulag or Castro’s Isla de Pinos, didn’t hail from milquetoast leftist families, but from the mean streets of Berlin, Moscow or Havana.
There is virtually no reason to think that the next Leftist to wrench complete power would act any differently. We’ve already heard Obama setting the stage when he called for a personal police force made up of what he called “ordinary civilians” to enforce the “will of the people” on American society.
So don’t take too much comfort in the cowardice of the individual Leftist.
“We make a mistake when we underestimate the depths to which the hard Left is capable of sinking. While it is true that individual Progressives may lack personal courage, put them in a large enough crowd and one must marvel at their transition.”
Exactly so…and this is the PRECISE REASON that we need “assault weapons” with large capacity magazines.
Let’s hope his next heart attack is fatal.
>>>(Imagine what the reaction would be if a conservative newspaper had published an opinion piece calling for abortion-rights advocates to be dragged behind a pickup truck, and for membership in NARAL to be made a criminal matter, in response to a similarly horrifying public tragedy.)
I’m having trouble imagining a conservative newspaper.
I am NRA. In a related matter from a couple of weeks ago: I am global warming denier.
“First it was a statement by Professor Erik Loomis at the University of Rhode Island, saying that he wanted ‘Wayne LaPierre’s head on a stick.’ Okay, maybe that was just hyperbolic rhetoric, intended as a figure of speech.”
But he also said that he wanted LaPierre in prison for his opinions. No possibility of interpreting that as a mere figure of speech.
Donald Kaul in the Des Moines Register: “Declare the NRA a terrorist organization… If some people refused to give up their guns, that ‘prying the guns from their cold, dead hands’ thing works for me.”
An armed citizen declining to protect Kaul from deadly assault works for me.
I cannot penetrate the double negative doublebackspeak in Reverseland.
The irony of a masturbatory writer who uses the *violent rhetoric* of equating slave holding secessionists to gun control supporters, all while condemning *violent rhetoric*.
Yeah, the lefties are hard to figure out. It’s actually quite simple: they despise everyone who won’t scream “hallelujah” and get with the “progressive” program.
Could be that you’re just a lefty idiot. That makes that comprehending stuff hard.
You might want to re-read the article, because you seem to have read something that I did not write. I did not condemn the violent rhetoric of these gun-control advocates; I pointed out that there violent rhetoric gives people fearful of the left and of gun-control even more reason to be fearful. I compared these gun-control advocates to the fire eaters of the antebellum South; that is not the same as a condemnation (although that condemnation is certainly implied).
Have you thought of completing high school, so that you can work on your reading skills?
The leftist concept of a democratic community taking shape after the revolution is always publicly portrayed as ‘giving everyone a voice’, ‘true democracy’, etc etc.
But after gaining power, triumphant revolutionaries have ALWAYS found resistance among The People to their enlightened rule and redistribution of other people’s stuff. Then in pursuit of ‘preserving the Revolution’, quickly ratcheted up the diktats, followed on immediately with the extreme measures dealt out to heretics who disagree with the Politburo or the Maximum Leader.
Donald Kaul and Eric Loomis are so saturated with this history and these hopes of unquestioned power that they have simply gone to Step Three without bothering to complete the revolution first – perhaps assuming that Obama’s re-election has achieved that exploit, and that we simply haven’t gotten the word yet.
It’s great that anyone with a computer can be a journalist. The only problem is that anyone with a computer can be a journalist.
I once read that Lincoln used to write scathing letters to his retractors. Then put them into a drawer.
I seriously doubt that anyone else has ever claimed that Lincoln wrote letters to his retractors.
Anyone with a keyboard can try to make clever comments on websites. That’s the problem …
It should be noted that the Kauls of the left don’t see themselves as actually being the ones who drag NRA members at gunpoint to where they are put in chains to be tortured and humiliated. No, they appear to be thinking that some government employee will do it. I have news for him, there are far more deer hunters in the US than government employees. And the instant it appears that Kauls is sending his goons to hunt for NRA members, the Great Second Amendment Tyrant Hunt will be on.
“No one ever died from reading Der Sterner, but the culture it served caused 6 million jews to drop dead” – George Will
you mean Der Sturmer
Actually commies kiled on the order of 100 million people. Also communism is a criminal conspiracy because it incites the crime of theft, and practices it. Two crimes. There is nothing inherently criminal in owning a gun.
The goal of anti-gun progressives is destruction of the Second Amendment. Progressives believe the Constitution is invalid. They do not believe rights are inalienable. Progressives believe rights are granted by government and are subject to restriction or elimination at the whim of our anointed leaders. They understand that without the Second Amendment our inalienable rights effectively cease to exist. Progressives believe there is no individual right to self-defense let alone the right of the People to dispose of a totalitarian government. They think the First Amendment should be modified to enable suppression of ideas contrary to the party line. Progressives consider those of us that believe in the Constitution are enemies which must be destroyed. No compromise is possible. This is an all or nothing battle, no compromise is possible. Therefore, I say fight, never quit, and never surrender!
Progressives also believe, more importantly, that PEOPLE are subject to elimination at the will of their leaders.
Bring it on, I say.
No, you really do not want to bring it on. Revolutions seldom end well; the American Revolution is one of the few examples where all of the leaders died of old age in their beds. The most cruel and unscrupulous leaders tend end up in charge after most revolutions and along the way the bloodshed is enormous.
It may be the only alternative at some point when the fascists but call themselves progressives overreach and start genocide, but it is something dearly to be avoided.
Unfortunately, we’re being forced into it. I would dearly love to be able to separate from the fascist, totalitarian monstrosity the federal government is increasingly (and increasingly rapidly) becoming in a calm and peaceful fashion, but the authoritarian left will not allow that to happen. It is becoming clearer and clearer that there is a collapse coming, and that it will involve some degree of violence. You’re right, it’s not to be desired. But neither is it to be avoided at all costs. Some things are more important than peace and personal safety, and we’re going to be forced to choose sooner rather than later.
Finally, a little bit of truth and common sense has seeped through the fog of corporate propaganda. Kaul has identified the true enemies of humanity, not phantasms like Muslims and communists. If the American people will finally realize it is not non-Whites and people who fight for social justice who are their enemies, but the corporate overlords and their shock troops who fill organizations like the KKK and the NRA, real change might be over the horizon!
Thus is satire, right? Or do you actually believe that Muslims and communists don’t really exist? And that “Muslim” (if it isn’t a mere phantasm) is a race? And that communists ever established social justice anywhere?
This is satire, right? Or do you actually believe that Muslims and communists don’t really exist? Or that “Muslim,” if it isn’t a mere phantasm, is a race? Or that communists have ever promoted social justice? No wonder your yobbin is throbbin: it’s from all those rocks rattling around inside.
One of the reasons there is more resistance to gun legislation now than back in the 90s is the behavior of leftist democrats the last 15 years. It is not hyperbolic for me to say I don’t feel safe giving up my weapons… less safe than being in violation of a new law…
Left/liberals don’t make me feel safe about anything.
Be fair. “Donald Kaul thinks that disagreeing with him about a political matter justifies torturing someone to death” because he sees that particular political matter as a life-or-death issue.
I’ve seen plenty of suggestions that Jane Fonda or John Kerry should be executed as traitors, and equally savage rhetoric directed at abortionists.
But then, it is arguable that Fonda and Kerry committed treason that got Americans killed, and that abortionists kill babies.
I’ve seen some very hot rhetoric against anti-vaccine crusaders – again, because they are seen as causing death and injury.
Such rhetoric does not mean the speaker would be violent over any political disagreement.
Kaul is a fool, but not a totalitarian.
You’re wrong. Like so many on the left, he is both. The very nature of leftism is totalitarian and authoritarian; it can be nothing else. That absolutism and coercion is its rationale for existence.
The New National Identification System Is Coming by DAVID BIER on FEBRUARY 1, 2013
http://www.openmarket.org/2013/02/01/the-new-national-identification-system-is-coming/
I suppose you missed the writings of O’s good buddy Bill “The Bomber” Ayers? His Weather Underground Manifesto calls for concentration camps for those that resist. How much clearer does somebody need to be?
Scratch a democrat;find a Stalinist. The second amendment has never been more relevant, or necessary than today!
