Mexico’s Foreign Embassies: A Terror Threat to America?
Former Dearborn, Michigan, resident Mahmoud Youssef Kourani was a secret Hezbollah agent sent to infiltrate America in February 2001. He stole over the Mexican border into California with a skill set that court records would later describe as “specialized training in radical Shiite fundamentalism, weaponry, spy craft, and counterintelligence,” picked up in Lebanon and Iran.
Kourani got caught in 2004 and thrown in federal prison for raising money and recruits for Hezbollah, which pioneered the modern art of suicide truck bombing by blowing up American Marines in Beirut.
But the enduring significance of Kourani isn’t that Hezbollah was able to implant the likes of him on American soil. It’s how it was done that reveals an insufficiently known national security danger for the U.S. that emanates to this day from a most unexpected source: Mexico’s foreign service embassies, consulate offices, and “honorary” appointed consuls across the Muslim world.
How was a Lebanese national whose brother was known to be “Hezbollah’s chief of military security for southern Lebanon” able to get within striking distance of California?
According to court records and interviews with knowledgeable sources, a $3,000 bribe was paid for Kourani’s travel documents to a corrupt official of Mexico’s Beirut consulate office. He just flew over, then on February 4, 2001, sneaked into California with help from a smuggling ring that had moved hundreds of Lebanese nationals already.
In this one instance at least, the discovery of the smuggling ring and bribery scheme prompted Mexico to quietly purge and prosecute several of its Beirut workers a few years ago. But I have found that Mexican consulates in other sensitive parts of the world, where anti-American Islamic terror groups thrive, are still open for the same kind of business.
Take the Mexican embassy in Mumbai, India. In all the ink expended about the devastating terror attacks there, none was shed for the fact that only months earlier, three Afghan Muslim travelers were caught posing as Mexicans and carrying genuine Mexican passports on their way out of the region. The trio was switching flights in Kuwait using Mexican pseudonyms and flashing valid Mexican passports, on their way to France and beyond, when an alert customs officer noticed they couldn’t speak Spanish. Subsequent investigation in India showed the passports were purchased for $10,000 each from a corrupt worker in the Mumbai-based Mexican consul office. Were these men terrorists? The answer isn’t public.

We are in DEEP sh*t with our borders and the Mexico madness. Any bleedin’ heart who thinks otherwise is a complete nincompoop. Civil war in Mexico is going to spill over into the USA. I’ve been SAYING THIS all along but nobody listened to wittle me.
Sometimes being right is a PITA.
The speed of Mexico’s collapse is, even by my jaded worldview, deeply disturbing.
Delia, always appreciate your posts and the energy in them.
There are so many facets of this crap that’s coming down that have been obvious to anyone with common sense and the ability to grasp some history and economics.
…and there’s not going to be much satisfaction, we know, in saying, “We knew it.” This is SO frustrating, but one thing that keeps me going is that we must exercise our freedom of speech. We must. And keep exercising it. And keep exercising it.
Keep doing what you do, D!
Our new Homeland Sec chief is from Arizona. I live in Arizona and here is the newest development. Arizona ranks #2 in the WORLD for kidnappings.Mexico ranks #1. This happened during her term as Governor. Does that give you an idea of her agenda?
I wonder how fast Ruben will write a follow up article deriding as racist anyone who dares connect hispanics to terrorism

“There are so many facets of this crap that’s coming down that have been obvious to anyone with common sense and the ability to grasp some history and economics.”
I wholeheartedly concur. I’d even go a step further and say that Mexico has been performing a bit of ‘economic terrorism’ on our soil and now the caca is hitting the fan. We are in for a WORLD of hurtin’ if we don’t nip this in the bud NOW.

Frustrated indeed and you’re damned right that we need to bark louder and make our voices HEARD.

“Keep doing what you do, D!”
Right back atchya, darlin’. Thank you for the courage boosting encouragement.
We cannot depend on our federal government to protect us. Every American who is legal, willing and able should acquire a concealed carry permit and USE it. When the next terrorist act takes place it will be swift, deadly and national. Do you think any of those people in Mumbai wished they had a gun as they were being slaughtered? I refuse to go down without a fight.

Depending on ‘gov’ to successfully manage ANYTHING is a joke. When all is said and done…it comes down to INDIVIDUALS to do the dirty work of protecting us. Our borders are going to be breached and raped without any solidarity to protect them.
California here weeeeeeeeee comeeeeeeeee.
Mexico is a no brainer. Legalize marijuana and you remove the smugglers’ incentive while stuffing our tax coffers. Super simple. We can do it tomorrow. Next.
Let me know when you want me to solve the Republicans’ credibility problem.
Sing it, Sister Delia!
And I agree, being right all the time is a PITA. But somebody’s got to do it (snickering to me here). Who’s it gonna be? Oboyma? Not! Scarelosi? Not! Rah Rah Eboyuel? Not! Barely Read? Not! Slack Shoomer? Not! Prick Turbin? Not!
We have to band together! These tea parties are just the beginning of S.O.A..R. – our Summer Of American Revolution. Hey, I like that. Let’s get former Attorney General Ashcroft to sing Let the Eagle S.O.A.R.. He wrote that you know! Tell that to the next Duncocrat who says Republicans aren’t artists just as swell as leaders.
I’m telling you everybody out there that I’m tired of being the only person who I hang out with whose right all the time. So let’s all get together and get our ducks in a row and water the horses.
In her term as Governor I think she has done pretty badly. Like the guy above is saying does that give you an idea of her agenda?
# 10….
Share with us your view of how to solve our Republican’s credibility problem. We need ideas fast.
Oh,legalize marijuana way too simple….first how are we going to get rid of the gettin filthy rich attorney’s and mostly the crooked police officers that stash their pockets with pot money if we were to legalize?
If Al Qaeda et al really are the powerful effective behemoths that some people make them out to be they could have infiltrated an armored army corps over the border in 8 years complete with heavy weapons, logistics and engineering support. Don’t get me wrong, let’s lock down the border anyways and give our illegals the boot. But as far as a terror threat argument goes, that is a weak one.
Is all this suprising? Wake up America!
Yvonne,
Like “So Easy,” I’m moving toward supporting the legalization of drugs. This is a natural Republican position, or, at least for those on the Libertarian wing of the Republican party. Why not legalize? We could sell drugs like we sell alcohol. We could tax the sales and use the money for rehab centers.
As a libertarian, I want the smallest government possible. I also want maximum individual freedom without impinging on the freedom of others. Thus, what people do in the privacy of their homes isn’t my concern, even if they do drugs. What they do in public, though, does impact me. If they do drugs and drive, for instance, their private behavior has public consequences. Thus, we should severely penalize anyone who acts dangerously in public because of drugs.
Those, like me, who have never touched a drug won’t be effected at all. (I would hazard a guess that Democrats abuse drugs far more often than Republicans so legalizing drugs would coerce Democrats to act with more maturity.) Those who already do drugs would probably continue to use drugs. Those on the edge could try it and then choose to continue or stop. It isn’t my concern, again. As individuals, we are all responsible for our own choices and the consequences of those choices. Legalization recognizes this fundamental responsibility and places it where it belongs — on the individual.
The biggest impact of legalizeing drugs would be in the inner cities where the drug trade is underground. These places would be instantly set free from drug-related criminal activity. When legal, there won’t be a need for bootleggers or pushers. They’ll be unemployed. Additionally, the income from the sale of drugs would be removed from the underground economy.
And the drug lords in Mexico, at least those who send their stuff to the United States, would have to find another way to subsidize their criminal activity. Here in Arizona, where I live, the drug lords of Mexico are a physical threat. I don’t hike or mountain bike anymore. Its just too dangerous. My neighbor mounted a gun to his handlebars just so he could safely ride in the desert. Also, illegal immigrants have set up makeshift camps in the desert, spewing garbage and leaving old mattresses in the middle of pristine areas. Its truly sickening. A couple years ago, I was hiking off trail when I came upon three little children hidden among boulders. They were hot and thirsty, left by their parents for the day to fend for themselves. Anyway, the illegals in Arizona have endangered both our communities and themselves. It is time to send them home to their indiginous communities where they were raised and used to work. Even though poor, it would be better for them — and us — if they returned to their familiar homes.
As far as I can tell, legalizing drugs will have a net positive impact.
What do you think?
Hermy
Beware the curry munching bearded men wearing turbans under their sombreros! Test them, if they can’t sing “La-Kooka-Rah-Cha” send them back!

I actually a matter factually *DO* sing. -And, thank you, doll… I’ll sing it loud!

Pot is one of those things that the ‘gov’ would have a mighty hard time regulating and taxing…hence the fact it’s illegal.
Hemp is AMAZING and can be used for everything from rope to t-shirts.

Being right is NOT anything to brag about. Being right is not fun. I’m terrified of being right and as much as I’d love to be lulled into being wrong…I just can’t go there. I’m a realist.
# 15 Hermy….
I am in agreement, why not try your suggestions/plan.
You mentioned, “we could sell drugs like we could sell alcohol”,our government wouldn’t like that because of the following 3 major reasons,(1) anyone could grow their own pot in the privacy of their own home (2) NO government control (3) no government taxes collected.
Some of our police here are the REAL criminals they are 10 times worse than what the arrested for possession(pot)”people do in the privacy of their home”.
#11 Go Sister Soldier, S.O.A.R.!!!!
You are a racist bigot.
60 minutes just had a report on Mexico on tonight and it was pretty scary. 6300 people died in their drug wars last year. The government troops are outgunned and losing the war.
Hi Yvonne,
Sure, we could grow pot at home. Its like this: today, we brew our own beer, bottle wine under our own label and even distill the harder stuff. Adding some pot to the mix shouldn’t be an issue, should it? The government currently gives up taxing food made at home even though, when we purchase something at a store or restaurant, the government gets more revenue.
Ceding control, similarly, shouldn’t be an issue. Its not like they’re controlling it now …
Some of our police are wonderful, too. A few bad apples doesn’t destroy the barrel.
Hermy
Delia,
My first post here so let me begin by supporting your comments, with one exception. The anarchy going on in Mexico is not what I’d call a civil war but the sheer destruction of law and order by narco-terrorists, aided by the culture of corruption already firmly entrenched in Mexico.
Others, who advocate here legalizing various drugs in the assumption that our drug violence problems will go away, are delusional. The cartels are PUSHING meth on Indian reservations to replace alcohol as the dependent drug of choice. Its about power and control and legalizing pot is not going to reduce the narco-terrorism one bit.
One suggestion:
Talks at the highest level between Mexico (and other countries, of course) and the USA to crack down on corrupt officials.
Other suggestion/question:
Can US officials require a background check before accepting visas?
They can streamline methods among countries and agencies.
Talking to foreigners in their “own” language can filter the crooks.

(((WELCOME))) and EXCELLENT first post. How very right and astute you are. Legalizing Mary Jane is perhaps akin to handing out condoms to horny teens…it still doesn’t WORK.
Meth is the dirty little secret nobody speaks of. Some of our worst criminal element are meth addicts…when it happens in your own, middle class backyard…it gets PERSONAL. Get ready for the meth lab near you… ugh.

Maybe that’s why law enforcement are buying up so many guns and ammo?
My prayers go out to the people living near the borders. I still can’t believe those Illegal Mexicans are suing that Arizona farmer for protecting his own land. Disgusting.

Americans are so utterly clueless. Mexican foreign nationals, from a nation,(Mexico) that has never really had much love for the U.S., open embassy after embassy, in State after State, in the United States of America, and Americans have a kind of duhhh, attitude about it all. God, are we setting ourselves up for disaster. How many Mexican embassies are there in this nation now, and WHY EXACTLY??
Mexico should be treated as the threat that they are, a far larger threat to the US than Iran, Pakistan, or Iraq are. Mexico has 20 million invaders already here, how many from those “terrorist” nations? Illegal Mexican and central Americans kill American citizens here EVERYDAY! They murder, rape, molest and kill via drunk driving. The news supresses these crimes as not to “alarm” the masses. If a “comprehensive” accounting of illegal alien crimes were assembled and published, it would shock the nation. Because it would, these crimes will be unreported. The Chamber of Commerce, ethnic supremicy groups like La Raza, Republican and Democratic parties want nothing to do with facts. They get in the way of the lies.

Mexico is effectively defunct. The solution to or problem is to cease to recognize it. Sanctions need to be emplaced, until they rectify their chaotic situation and restore order.
vivo – First good post from you I have ever seen. Interview them in Spanish. You’ll know from their accents and communication styles whether or not they are legit.
Hermy # 22…. you stated the government hasn’t taxed us making our own food at home, shhh they’re looking for all bizarre tax revenues and I hope they’re not gleaming posts looking for ideas as this would be a easy quick one for Obama.ha,ha.
# 20 my aren’t you full of ideas!!!
# 17 I had a very good laugh thanks.
Hermy # 22….Many small rural communities are in a mess(nice word) with Mexican illegals, how can our Country turn this around?
