Marxism, Socialism, Communism, and Obama
When socialists accept that any means are justified to achieve their ultimate goals, they have become communists, and purges of those less-educated and unenlightened begin.
Armed with this knowledge, it’s easy to see why so many are alarmed about Mr. Obama. A brief, by no means all-inclusive, list of his alarming behavior:
(1) Mr. Obama’s many disturbingly communist propaganda-style posters.
(2) The communist cult of personality built around Mr. Obama from his campaign to the present.
(3) His vow to “spread the wealth around” (income redistribution is a hallmark of socialism/communism) to Joe the Plumber.
(4) His blithely uncaring flaunting of public opinion in living very, very large on the collective dime, with posh parties, command performances, golf excursions, frequent flights for “date nights,” and pricey vacation spots worthy of a member of the Politburo.
(5) The unashamed praise of Mao Zedong, a mass-murderer who made Hitler look like a neophyte, by Obama advisor Anita Dunn.
(6) The appointment of 9-11 truther, black racist, and avowed communist Van Jones as “Green Jobs Czar.” Let us not forget the cooing schoolgirl longing from Obama advisor and slumlord Valerie Jarrett in describing Jones.
(7) Obama’s seizure of the means of production in taking over two-thirds of the domestic auto industry, and his lawless dispossession of the shareholders of those companies to the benefit of corrupt unions.
(8) Obama’s reckless and unnecessary shuttering of countless auto dealers, which threw all of their employees and many in related, supporting industries out of work — done, no doubt, to help “the workers.”
(9) Obama’s constant meddling and thuggish tactics in dealing with the financial and insurance industries, and other business, and Republicans, and Democrats, and doctors, and everyone else who disagrees — or looks like they might be thinking about disagreeing — with his policies.
(10) Mr. Obama’s assertion that “at some point, you’ve made enough money,” and his ceaseless class warfare against the arbitrarily chosen “rich” class of those making $250,000 a year or more.
(11) Mr. Obama’s statement to journalist Bob Woodward that America can “absorb” another massive terrorist attack because 9/11 made us “stronger.” (One of the hallmarks of any socialist/communist government is a great deal of lip service paid to “the people,” but no caring whatsoever about individuals. A second is their willingness to expend the lives of millions of their citizens to achieve their goals.)
(12) HHS Secretary Sibelius’ comment that Americans were in for “reeducation” over their obvious lack of appreciation for ObamaCare (communists have “reeducated” untold millions to death). Let’s not mention the grossly false propaganda her agency has released on that topic — blatantly false, big lie propaganda being another communist hallmark.
Why doesn’t Mr. Obama behave as the brilliant politician he is supposed to be? Why doesn’t he move to the center when it’s obvious that he is collapsing his faux Greek-columned temple around the ears of himself and his party? He’s a socialist. He’s a Marxist. Virtually all of his associates, mentors, and friends have been one or the other or both. Who would even think, let alone say and do the things he has done and that he is absolutely dedicated to doing unless they were a single-minded, dyed-in-the-wool, committed socialist?
Socialists and communists always take the long view, which is a result of their unshakable belief that their beloved philosophy cannot possibly fail, and that the only prescription for what others might mistakenly see as failure is more, and more fervent, socialism or communism. Thus public outrage over discovering that every feature of ObamaCare used to sell it was a lie is merely a failure of “messaging.” The proper message delivered to the masses will convince them! The underlying policy cannot be wrong, nor could the masses fail to appreciate it and “The One” if they were only smart enough to understand the proper messaging.
Mr. Obama cannot move to the center. For him, the center is always wherever he is, in that mythical worker’s paradise he so diligently labors to perfect despite the inability of those far less intelligent than himself — everyone — to understand or appreciate his labors.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, European nations diligently labor to flee the worker’s paradises that are falling to ruin all around them. They can see a center where Mr. Obama cannot.
Here’s what I don’t understand –
Many people I know who defend socialism and call themselves socialists, get angry when I say Obama’s a socialist.
Someone explain this to me.
well, many uberleftists are mad at obumbie because they think he’s not making us into a worker’s paradise fast enough. (iow – they think he’s too conservative)
are these socilaist friends of yours obi supporters? or are they embarassed they voted for him and are running away just like many dem congressmen?
Many if not communists (“socialism” is just a euphemism for communism) consider themselves to be “true socialists” (all communists call themselves socialists) and everyone with even slightly different ideas is an apostate and traitor to the cause.
On top of that, Obama has gone open in his policies and their implementation too quick for many, before there was no way out for the victims.
So he may have betrayed the cause right there by leaving a chance that the window of opportunity for communism taking control over the United States may be closed when they’ve been working for decades to open it.
They’d have preferred a more creeping implementation, followed in time (maybe at the end of Obama’s second term) with a violent socialist takeover (led by themselves of course).

Not quite. Communism is a genus of the species socialism — and this isn’t just a quibble. It’s important to understand the subtle distinctions and endless permutations.

These are the same people who are always defending Islam and think all Americans are “Islamophobic”, but when they hear someone say Obama is a Muslim they go berserk: “Obama’s NOT a Muslim!!!”
I think they’re taking their cues from Obama himself. Everything about him says Socialist, Socialist, Socialist, but he says he’s not a Socialist. And even though he’s spent his time in the White House bowing to Muslims — both figuratively and literally — his campaign website had a big banner on the religion page that said: OBAMA IS NOT NOW NOR HAS HE EVER BEEN A MUSLIM. Questionable statement, to say the least, but I remember thinking at the time that if I were a Muslim I would be kind of insulted by his strong repudiation of Islam.
Obama is the king of double-messages and doublespeak and that’s why his followers, the Obama-zombies, do the same.
To Coco Rico: Middle Americans (mostly people who live in the flyover states and in the suburbs) are widely known to not be the sharpest pencils in the drawer, and that includes their understanding — or actually their lack thereof — of concepts like socialism, the metric system, and such. And in this case, thanks to their gullibility and where they get their news, they’ve come to see “socialism” as some sort of strange, scary threat to the American Way of life, liberty and their pursuit of happiness, even though things that they want and need like medicare, unemployment benefits, and welfare assistance to the poor and needy are socialistic in nature.
So calling Obama a “socialist” (which he isn’t by any non-nutcase definition), is just yet another smear tactic by the usual political ne’er-do-wells to scare Middle Americans (who are assumed to be as dumb as doorknobs), yet again, into not voting for anyone who wants to make America a better place and to fix many of the problems we now have.

BC, you are laboring under the assumption that government can be anywhere near as efficient as private companies. At best, government can be only 50% efficient, because half the effort is devoted to political pandering and lobbying for next year’s budget. Since government agencies were allowed to unionize, they are even less efficient. Nobody can be fired.
No group of individuals, no matter how well educated, can come close the the genius of billions of free market transactions.

Noted that when Obama lies: the amplitude and tone of his voice rise and his speech slows just a bit. He is “pushing” the lie out to the listeners. Watch and listen to HOW he says it, and watch his eye movement.
Hey, Mike. A really great article. It cleared up some of the ambiguities I have had about what exactly is going on with President Obama and our country. Congratulations on a work well done.
And this is news? Anybody who bothered to really examine Obama’s past in 2008 would have come to this conclusion long ago. At best he is a socialist, at worst a communist. He’s probably a European-style nanny state socialist and probably doesn’t mind that all of those countries are plagued by low economic growth, high taxes, high unemployment, huge debt, tiny militaries that are basically a joke, and have huge government bureaucracies that hire more people than private industry. That’s the failed model he wants to follow and nothing, absolutely nothing, will stop him from following it.
But the nasty little secret here is why did the the main steam media not only ignore all of these facts in 2008, but they openly assisted in hiding them as well? What does this tell you about the main stream media today and what its political beliefs are? They should be ashamed at themselves for not bringing Obama’s socialist and communist ties to the attention of the American public in 2008. Instead, they were too busy bashing Sarah Palin, a person who was running for VICE PRESIDENT and NOT president. I think the biggest casualty in all of this will not be Obama, who never hid any of his beliefs. It will be the main stream media, who aided and abetted this man and now must share in the responsibility for bringing America to the place where it is today, near bankruptcy and tyranny.
yes liberty, some did come to this conclusion long ago – many conservative still have their heads in the sand when it comes to the great won. It’s like they refuse to believe a communist takeover could happen in amerika. Therefore, what can most easily be expalined by intent to implement communisim, is written off as incompetence.

I have been telling the sheeple this for years and have always gotten the “…what are you, some kinda radical …”. No, I have been there. I have seen with my own eyes where tolerance of communism leads. It leads to more and more ruthless, violent communism. Laos, Burma and Cambodia are my eyes evidence.

Obi is so smart. (really? what were his grades? what classes did he take? what were his test scores? ALL his school records were sealed by executive order the day he took office.)
obi promised hope and change (yeah – notice no one bothered to get his definition of what those words meant?)

I noticed it and thought it sounded awfully familiar. Remember “if Obama doesn’t win there’s going to be race riots in America?” In the final months of the campaign we heard that from people left and right. Well, he figures it worked in 2008, why not 2010?
Dont forget also-wasnt this the same guy who said “get in there faces” . the same guy who tried to use Missouri state law against local political opponents. The same guy who had kids marching about in schoolrooms chanting his name like little robots? Thats the kind of things you find in communist societies. Just as war is politics by other means, politics is theology by other means. Once we heard the sermons of Jeremiah Wright and the Liberation Theology that was preached there we knew exactly who Obama was and is. Obama soaked up this Marxist theology for 20 years, he sees good and evil through this paradigm. He cannot be act to bring America in line with his vision of the world. He joked that ObamaCare is not some Bolshevik plot. So is Obama more of a Menshevik Marxist? We have just under 4 weeks to go until the GOP takes back the House and maybe the Senate. If we some major “crisis” come about to interfere with that eventuality, it will remove all doubt about Obama’s and the Democratic Party’s loyalties.

Yes, he’s a socialist of some sort. Yes, he’s been aided and abetted by a sympathetic and incompetent media. But for all the covering up of his past (documented by he himself), far too many of the electorate simply cannot accept the reality that he’s a marxist. They simply refuse to believe what he is, no matter the facts staring them in the face. This alone allows him and his ilk to continue to flush the country down the drain. Obama still got elected, and congressmen of the same cloth, particularly far too many incumbents, continue to get elected by the same incompetent voters.
This all despite Obama’s way overrated political acumen. What this guy does and says is pure political buffoonery. He’s not even a decent speaker like he was touted to be. You’d think he’d have to have more political savvy to push his ruinous agenda. Hopefully his weak political mirage will vanish come November by a far more sober electorate. Positive change may occur, but it’ll take several election cycles and a generation of civic and economic education to undue the damage.

Law,Academia,Media have been in a conspriacy against freedom since the late 60s, after the Vietnamese communists,a bout ready to quit the war defeated, were buoyed by Walter commie Cronkites statement that Vietnam was a lost war, and LBJ then telling the media, “if Ive lost Cronkite, Ive lost the public”. The rest of the communist world then picked up on the way to attack America from the inside, using the tactics first suggested early in the 20th century by Italian Communist Antonio Gramsci-attack the institutions(Marriage,church,family) that are the underpinning of American freedom. The Media MUST be drained of the communists within it. PJ media,Brietbart, and talk radio are just the beginning. Now is the time to retake our institutions and restore our greatness. Many say that the third father figure, Jeremiah Wright, in his hate-filled froth for 20 years, spewing the vile rage against all things American, and becoming “the” mentor from young adult to politician held the most sway.
Others suggest that William Ayers played a much larger role. Or Edward Said.
But, how do we separate out the impact of each and weigh or measure them? It seems that they had a cumulative effect, rather than a separate one to my eyes and ears. The “branding” of the present course as “Socialism” or “Communism” or “Anti-Colonialism”, is in my view and attempt to take a plate of spaghetti and line up all the individual strands.
The blending of far left, extremist ideologies…and attempting to implement them while keeping the passengers calm and unaware that they are hostages on a flight they did not purchase, while the terrain beneath them that they see out the window becomes more and more unfamiliar, is an exercise in “root causes”, but not satisfactory explanations.
The reason, I believe, is because “all of the above” appears to be true. Implementing far left ideology into America is very different than doing so in a single nation in Africa or Europe. It has to be hijacked into existence. Hidden from plain view. It takes a conspiracy of silence by the Pocket Media, who must shill for it behind the scenes. This is not a debate that could be had out in the open. Otherwise, we should just call the question.
Instead, it is in permanent stealth mode, with an array of conspirators disguising it and masquerading it as something it is not. Commenters above asked why do they run away and scream at being called Socialist or Communist? It’s a bright light that sends them scurrying for the baseboards.
When the 2008 election routed the Republicans, some of the far left saw this as a sign and signal that it was ok to come out in the daylight. Others are so impatient for the revolution, they are lashing out at Obama from the left because he didn’t seize everything and crush the response.
Obama is still in the “keep the center calm, talk soothingly and don’t give the appearance of being threatening” mode. But make no mistake, this is a seizure of power from the people. Every piece of legislation, every act…is an act of defiance of the will of the people. We are in a hijacked plane and we are headed straight for the very cornerstones of America. And, we are being told to stay calm, nobody is going to get hurt.
We aren’t waiting for the revolution to start, we are waking up and finding out we are in the middle of it.

They get mad because they know that Americans are not socialists and will defeat socialism. Therefore, even though they know he is a socialist / Marxist, simply admitting it hurts their cause. It’s the Big Lie.

But you must add a reflection about the international scenario: America has been THE only force of Freedom against the plague of totalitarianism , THEREFORE the totalitarians would be satisfied if they succeeded in weakening America to the point that it can no longer stop the international subversion.
This is their main point today, and that’s why Obama does everything he can to weaken our economy, divide the People, create more problems.

I’ve long wondered at the source of the envy and hatred that, at its core, characterizes the Leftist world view. Its roots come from the French Revolution, a murderously bloody contrast to the American Revolution that preceded it. The key difference between the two, IMO, was in the relative state of the oppressed and their oppressors. In the case of France, the vast majority of the population was relegated to abject poverty with no hope of escape. The power was in the hands of a small group of elites – the Aristocracy – who had done nothing to earn their wealth other than be born. In essence they had not earned their affluence and thus the resentment of the poor was well justified. One can see how the concept of unearned wealth and power and privilege can lead to rage and resentment. In much the same way, many of us in America feel rage for the unearned power and privilege of a self anointed elite who seem to have gained their power through nothing more than adherence to the leftist philosophy. Marxism arose out of the passions and hatred of the French Revolution and since it was directed at an Aristocracy that controlled Europe it is, at least, an understandable phenomenon. Evil and wrongheaded but understandable. Its application is totally inappropriate to the American experience where there was no aristocracy, where wealth and privilege could be gained through hard work and effort, not through birth. Rage against people that have worked for their earnings is nothing more than childish spite, indulging the quite natural tendency toward laziness and resenting those that work harder. It’s easier to envy their possessions and construct a story that they got it unfairly than to admit that one wasn’t willing to put in the effort to achieve the same.
Kind of like the kids in school that would get mad if you did well on a test since it made them look bad. All those kids are now in Unions, by the way…..nyuk, nyuk.
An excellent exposition and analysis. Is is important that those of us who fiercely oppose socialism in al its varieties and sub-sets use the term and insist that those who hide under the euphemisms of “liberal, leftist, and progressive” are forced to do bttle under their true colors. There are millions of Obama supporters who think they are just Democrats and take offense at being called socialists.
The audacity of the Chicago neo-communist cadre was in taking over the Democrat party and scamming half of America’s voters into putting them into the Wite house. The problem on the right is that too many refuse to accept that truth and keep babbling “Doesn’t he understand?” and “Why isn’t he pragmatic and doing what Clinton did – move to the enter?”
The essential fact is: Obama and his Administration have no interest in “recovery”. They are embarked on a course of destruction of our capitalist fredoms and replacement of our constitutional democratic republic and the imposition of doctrinaire socialism on the Marxist/Stalinist/ pattern.
Marxism, of whatever stripe, ha always been the cause of academics, students, and utopian dreamers, with contempt for free-enterprise and the “greed” of entrepreneurship, and total disregard, ignorance and avoidance of management or skills in governance.
Outstanding article Mike. I’ve followed your insights here at PJM for some time, and you always lay out the essential truth in a clear and straightforward manner. I would like to add another perspective to your article. Socialism, Communism and all of the various totalitarian ‘isms’ provide nothing more than the framework for the excercise of power – absolute power. Absolute, murderous power, as history has so clearly shown. So, no – none of these ideologies work; they never have and they were never intended to ‘work’ – outside of the minds of fairy-dust utopians. The will to power as excercised within those frameworks is responsible for the slaughter of over 200 million people over the last 100 years or so – and the impoverishment and enslavement of hundreds of millions more.
These totalist ideologies are nothing more than the horse these monsters choose to ride on their way to dominus terra firma. From Machiavelli on through Gramsci, Alinsky and Cloward and Piven, we’ve been advised that you cannot rule a free and prosperous people. As Machivelli said, with respect oconquering republics, “You must first lay them waste.” Our current crop of totalist monsters know this very well; for many, the previous list was their nightstand reading.
In straightforward terms, here’s their goal: millions of us dead, the rest of us in chains. And for your hand-wringers and cringers who can’t quite wrap your heads around that statement, I’ve got news for you: it’s been done. From the hungry ghosts of China to the slaughtered millions in the Ukraine, from the Soviet gulags and the Chinese laogais to the Nazi concentration camps and the Cambodian killing fields, the nightmare of power and cruelty beggars the imagination. But it is real and to this day, we do not know the full extent.
So, by the lights of the power-intoxicated, it’s better to rule in hell than to leave the rest of us alone to live in peace. And the lessons of history are stark and clear – if we wish to remain free, then we have terrible and bloody work ahead of us.

a very small clarification of the SEALs’ trials: the commanding General was comfortable with just placing administrative letters of reprimand in their service records under the UCMJ’s Non-Judicial Punishment (NJP) procedures. This would have kept them from having a criminal record, but would have prevented them from ever making Chief Petty Officer, or successfully applying for commisions as officers.
As was their right, they elected to have their situtions go to General Court Martial procedings to definitively clear their names. Why? Because they were completely not guilty of the charges, and refused to take on false guilt under NJP for expediency’s sake.
I do not think that Obama or members of his administration tried to influence these proceedings. Otherwise, I think that he would have commented on them very publically like he did with the police officer in Boston. But, I wouldn’t put it past the gutless general involved in this matter to have acted in such a manner to curry favor with the administration in hopes of another star on his collar. Or, a choice posting in the upper echelons of national security appointments.
Does anyone find it amusing that the Obamabots have been mostly silent, lately.

Saul David Alinsky was an American community organizer and writer best known for his book, Rules for Radicals: A Pragmatic Primer for Realistic Radicals. He is generally considered to be the founder of modern community organizing and his teachings have influenced several prominent national leaders including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Fred Ross. In fact, Fred Ross, who worked for Alinsky, was the principal mentor for Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta. Hillary Clinton’s senior honors thesis on Saul Alinsky, written at Wellesley College, noted that Alinsky’s personal efforts were a large part of his method. As The Nation magazine puts it, “Obama worked in the organizing tradition of Saul Alinsky, who made Chicago the birthplace of modern community organizing. . In 1988 Mr. Obama wrote an article which later became the fourth chapter of a book, After Alinsky: Community Organizing in Illinois.
In Rules for Radicals (his final work, published in 1971 one year before his death), he addressed the 1960s generation of radicals, outlining his views on organizing for mass power. In the first chapter, opening paragraph of the book Alinsky writes, “What follows is for those who want to change the world from what it is to what they believe it should be. The Prince was written by Machiavelli for the Haves on how to hold power. Rules for Radicals is written for the Have-Nots on how to take it away.” Here is Saul Alinsky’s dedication to his own book: “Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins — or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer. Yes, that’s right folks, Saul Alinsky dedicated “Rules for Radicals” to Satan. That is in fact the essence of what it means to be a radical — to be willing to destroy the values, structures and institutions that sustain the society we live in. Marx himself famously cited Alinsky’s first rebel (using another of his names, Mephistopheles): “Everything that exists deserves to perish.” “True revolutionaries do not flaunt their radicalism, Alinsky taught. They cut their hair, put on suits and infiltrate the system from within. Alinsky viewed revolution as a slow, patient process. An excellent column by author McDaniel, but he’s too generous — Obama is a full-fledged communist, not a socialist. Though I concede the point that it might just be too much for people to accept — right now.

The fact that you have 70 members of Congress that are members of the World Workers party(just another name for communist) should alone be reason to believe. You just answered a question that I asked on another thread; my cuiosity as to whether Obama is a true Marxist or just another slick street hustler like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, both of whom, I suspect, are Marxists, too, perhaps only because, like Obama, they’re neither smart enough, nor clever enough, nor shrewd enough, nor creative enough, nor certainly original enough to develop a workable and practical compromise between capitalism and socialism, which, by their very nature, all other socialists are too stupid to develop, also. THe leaders of socialistic movements are either psuedo intellectuals or just downright stupid and brutal. (Well, in my opinion.)

There are several instances of guilt by association, including the tenuous conjecture that Kathleen Sibelius’s use of the term “reeducation” has something to do with communist pogroms.
The reference to a “communist cult of personality” surrounding Obama is plain silly. What distinguishes a “communist” personality cult and how does it differ from the hysterical (and grotesquely misplaced) adulation surrounding Sarah Palin?
The term “thuggish” has become something of a fetish on the right. This is ironic, considering the boorish and obsessive personal attacks launched by conservatives against the refined and ladylike Nancy Pelosi.
McDaniel can’t resist trotting out the tired old nag about “redistributing wealth” made famous by Obama’s offhand remark to Joe the Plumber. I suspect that McDaniel would be as surprised as Wurzelbacher to learn that many of the nation’s Founders, including James Madison, advocated redistributing wealth as a means of curtailing power. That’s okay. Ignorance is never a bar to the kind of idle speculation practiced here.
Perhaps the most baseless criticism is the charge that Obama’s lifestyle betrays communist sympathies. Since when has high living been an exclusive characteristic of communism? Even if it were, Obama hardly stands out compared to Ronald Reagan, whose extravagant inauguration celebrations set a standard for tasteless excess, or even to little Georgie Bush, who spent three times as many days on vacation during his first year in office as Obama.
One could go on exploding this sad little farrago point by point, but the effort would be supererogatory. The undeserved praise heaped on it here serves merely to underscore the hatred that envy engenders in mediocrity.
