Left-Wing Activists Admit Allen West Terrifies Them
Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) is the activist Left’s number one congressional target this election cycle because he poses an existential threat to progressivism, a prominent professional left-wing organizer suggests.
West is “a national rising star in the Tea Party,” Becky Bond explained during a panel discussion at the Campaign for America’s Future’s recent Take Back the American Dream confab in Washington, D.C.
The famously outspoken retired Army lieutenant colonel with the special talent for getting under Democrats’ skin “is going to start to define” what the Republican Party stands for, said Bond, president of the well-funded Credo SuperPAC.
A super PAC is a kind of political action committee that may raise and spend unlimited funds from corporations, unions, associations, and individuals to overtly advocate for or against a candidate. Credo SuperPAC is an outgrowth of Credo Mobile, the wireless reseller that donates part of its profits to leftist groups such as the George Soros-funded Media Matters for America, ACORN-affiliated Project Vote, Color of Change, and the Sierra Club Foundation.
The danger, as Bond sees it, is that if West’s brand of politics catches on nationwide, American politics may shift rightward.
“And he’s a freshman,” Bond said. “If we don’t take him down now, he’s raising millions of dollars, and he’s going to set what the new normal is for the Republican Party.”
Bond bragged that her group is harassing West (“bird dogging him at every attempt,” in her words) in order to waste his campaign’s resources. “We’re getting to [West and Tea Party-backed congressmen] at every level.”
It is not hyperbole to say that liberals loathe the solidly conservative first-term congressman with the fire of a thousand suns. Credo SuperPAC calls West “racist, sexist, anti-science, hypocritical and downright crazy.”

However, if Allen West stays in his current position, what will happen to our country in the meantime? We give Oblabla 4 more year & that’s all he needs to finish our country off. You cite Heinlein’s great insight about stupidity yet you propose making a LAW abolishing stupidity? That just proves that you may have read Heinlein but you still aren’t understanding him. Heinlein’s point is that you don’t NEED a law against stupidity: the price of being stupid is paid all the time without any need for legislation. It is in force at all times and places, like the Law of Gravity.
I don’t think Heinlein ever forsaw a world in which stupidity is so richly rewarded. Stupid runs out country and our country runs the world. How much more dangerous can you get when stupid runs the world?

And to take lolly’s comment one step further, Heinlein most likely foresaw that there would be a time that a country like the US would actually create laws to protect the stupidity. Ever wonder why push lawnmowers have those legally mandated bars that have to be held down or the mower will shut down? Helmet laws and seat belt laws? I agree that wearing a helmet and seat belts are very effective at reducing injury, but have a law that forces those that don’t understand or choose to ignore basic physics?
More importantly, to address the topic of the actual article. What is happening is that stupidity and those pushing new minority social views has gone too far. The commonly silent individuals with the majority social views have had enough and have found their voice, such as Mr. West. The left is very afraid, they are afraid of the waking majority and they see their free ride coming to an end if they don’t start using desperate measures. Yet as they get more desperate, their tactics and unsustainable agenda becomes more visible and even more of the silent majority wake up and push back. It is a downward spiral for them.

Allen West has a huge future ahead of him and there is a reason why the more people hear of him, the more they like him. His blunt honesty is so refreshing and his arguments are grounded in logic. I would follow Allen West to hell while holding a can of gasoline. Slick Willie pulled in his horns and kicked back to enjoy interns after the Gingrich Counter-revolution in 1994 but in one of the more clever things the left has done, he and his Democrat progeny took advantage or the Republican propensity for porking and just funnelled money to all sorts of Democrat front groups in the non-profit and services to government sectors as well as setting up all sorts of grant-funded sinecures for Democrat apparatchiks inside government all all levels.
This is another of these areas where Republican inability to actually staff and run a government causes us to feed the hand that bites us. Contracting government functions out to the “private sector” was a Republican Holy Grail and God knows I’ve felt the love of my State Chamber of Commerce over my opposition to most of it, but the Republicans won the battle and lost the war on the contracting out issue. Sure, governments can now contract out all sorts of stuff and do even in heavily unionized states, but most of that contracting goes to Democrat front non-profits and it functions as a money laundry to put money straight from the Treasury to the Democrats. There’s been a lot of noise about the facillitators and consultants’ fees for their part in the GSA soirees around the Country; I’ll guarantee you every damned one of them was a Democrat, even during the GWB Administration, and fully understood that they were to kick back some substantial portion of their fees, usually a third, to either the Party or specific Democrat candidates.
When I returned to the executive branch under the Democrats my deal with them was I’d stay out of politics if they’d stay out of labor relations below the policy level; they could dictate the objectives, but I got to control strategy and tactics. In the runup to the 2002 Legislative Session we were facing full contract negotiations with all of our unions in the first half of 2003 under a new administration since the current Administration was term limited. It would be an expensive undertaking even if a Democrat won and a REALLY expensive proposition if a Republican won; the Democrat would have to at least pay for a good show and a Republican would actually have to really engage in adversarial negotiations. We needed a specific appropriation to support the negotiation effort of somewhere between $500,000 and $1,000,000 as a capital appropriation. For an infrastructure function that lived on general funds, that is one Helluva lot of money, especially when you don’t want to explain what you’re planning to do with it in any real detail.
My, then, boss wanted to go for the whole million and tasked me to do the BS budget request to tell a fairy tale about what the Democrats were going to do with the money. We wrote up a bunch of bureaucratese about examining our processes and identifying our objectives, identifying wage and benefit comparables and assessing or abilities to recruit and retain relative to those comparables as all that responsible good government crap. What they were really going to do was use Hahvud’s interest based bargaining technique which is really just a charade to allow the administration and the unions to conspire against the legislature and the people. The unions would put up huge bargaining teams that would then have to be “trained” in interest based bargaining techniques, on government time, of course, and by some reliably Democrat facilitator who would make sure that a third to a half of at least a quarter million dollar fee would get to the Democrat candidate for governor in the Fall’s election. I wrote it up and we sent it over, but my fingers danced over the phone for days as I struggled with calling one of my buddies in the Legislature and warning them off giving us the money. As it turned out, my old buddies had learned well and in the first hearing in the first committee announced they weren’t about to give that money to the executive branch before the election; they gave us less than a quarter of the request and made the appropriation effective the day after the election. As it turned out, we won, set up a Republican Administration and I was the one that had to live with that paltry appropriation. One was scared and the other glad of it and we quickly negotiated a one year rollover of the agreements and retooled for full negotiations in 2004. I asked for the million again and didn’t explain a thing other than I needed it for negotiation expenses. The total debate was the two finance committee chairs called me and asked me what I was going to do with the money. I told them I was going to by beer for my horses and whiskey for my men. I got the money and for once in its life my red-headed stepchild agency lived pretty well for awhile.
