Leading the Democrats into Battle: Debbie Wasserman Schultz
Just who is Debbie Wasserman Schultz? The frizzy-haired Floridian was President Barack Obama’s surprise choice to head the Democratic National Committee following the departure of former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, who is now running for a U.S. Senate seat in Virginia.
Born in Queens, New York, Wasserman Schultz, a former legislative aide, was, at one time, the youngest female legislator in Florida history. A prolific fundraiser — she reportedly raised more than $17 million for her congressional colleagues in 2006 — she nonetheless seems an odd choice to lead the national party. She is not terribly well-known, is not considered an expert on the less-than-gentle art of politics, and, as she has shown in recent days, is somewhat gaffe prone.
Wasserman Schultz is, as former Republican National Committee communications director Doug Heye acknowledges, “an effective messenger.”
“Since coming to Congress, she’s been one of the Democrats’ most aggressive, effective messengers,” Heye says. In her new role, he adds, “The aggressiveness is still there, but, so far, she has not been as effective as one might expect.”
But is that enough? Some say it is, pointing to the Democrats’ unexpected victory in a recent special election in a heavily Republican congressional district in upstate New York once represented by conservative icon Jack Kemp.
Those who were on the ground in the race suggest the eventual victory had more to do with the GOP fielding a weak candidate, state Assemblyman Jane Corwin, than with any kind of meaningful, cohesive strategy. Messaging played a role, but only in the sense that Corwin’s failure to respond in a timely way to attacks made by her Democratic opponent, newly elected U.S. Rep. Kathy Hochul, allowed her to be defined in a way the made any response, when it finally came, too little, too late.
Nevertheless, Wasserman Schultz has been thrust into a position of national leadership in a way that doesn’t exactly make sense unless you consider that Obama’s chief objective over the next two years is to win re-election.
She has two assets that Obama desperately needs. First, she can help him wage an effective campaign in Florida — a state he won in 2008 and almost certainly needs to win again if he hopes to remain president. Second, as an active member of the National Jewish Democratic Council, Wasserman Schultz is a much-needed bridge to a community that is already terribly suspicious of the president and his intentions toward Israel.
At a recent newsmaker breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor, Wasserman Schultz pointedly said that:
One of the most tremendous sources of pride for me is that I am the first Jewish woman to represent the state of Florida in Congress. And another tremendous source of pride is that I am a pro-Israel Jewish member of Congress and I proudly support a president that is pro-Israel.
Whether Obama is pro-Israel or not is open to debate. His recent public call for the use of the pre-1967 war borders as the basis for negotiations leading to an independent Palestinian state has a lot of people thinking he isn’t. Obama needs the support of the Jewish-American community, which is overwhelmingly Democratic in its political giving and voting patterns and which is singularly important in a state like Florida. As part of her new job, Wasserman Schultz needs to play fixer. She has her work cut out for her.
Even here the road has been rocky. Matt Brooks, who heads the Republican Jewish Coalition, recently took Wasserman Schultz to task for promising to muzzle debate over Israel in a meeting both attended with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“You appealed to us, in front of the leader of a foreign nation,” Brooks wrote Wasserman Schultz in a letter released to the press, “to pledge to refrain from any debate about these matters. I do not think that the timing or the venue you chose for raising this issue was appropriate.”
As chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Wasserman Schultz is obliged to “support candidates whose positions on Israel are different from yours,” as Brooks put it. “To that end,” he continued, “I understand why you would like to shield and provide political amnesty to those Democrats whose positions undermine Israel’s security.”
It’s a small story, but one that underscores the kind of problems Wasserman Schultz’s new role creates for her. As a national political figure she faces political pressures different from those every member of Congress experiences, yet which must also be addressed.
“A potential problem, as expressed to me by a senior Democratic official,” said one Republican consultant, “is that she has two full-time jobs that require full-time attention — the job voters in Florida elected her to do and the job President Obama asked her to do. At some point, as the old song says, something’s gotta give.”
It’s not likely that she’ll be hurt too much by her divided loyalties. Returned to office in 2010 with 60 percent of the vote, she seems unbeatable in her home district. Whether she can help the Democrats nationally is another story.
With the spotlight on her as DNC chairman, her comments are going to be subjected to much closer scrutiny, something former RNC Chairman Michael Steele found out much to his dismay. For example, her recent claim that seniors with pre-existing conditions would be denied Medicare coverage under the GOP’s reform plan was debunked by the non-partisan FactCheck.org, which concluded that “[t]he House GOP plan specifically says insurance companies ‘must agree to offer insurance to all Medicare beneficiaries.’”
“She also repeated a false Democratic talking point that future beneficiaries — those who are now younger than 55 — would be left on their own to buy insurance in the private market,” FactCheck.org stated. “The GOP plan, as we have written before, would provide subsidies for future beneficiaries to buy private insurance from a Medicare exchange set up by the government.”
These kinds of gaffes, which can be damaging to an ordinary member of Congress, take on a whole new meaning when they come from the national chairman of one of the political parties. This is the case whether the issue is big or small.
Take her recent observation that, “If it were up to the candidates for president on the Republican side, we would be driving foreign cars.” According to The Hill, a newspaper that covers Congress, she owns a 2010 Infiniti FX35.
Then there are her somewhat bizarre assertions that the GOP, which currently has Minnesota Congressman Michele Bachmann and former Alaska governor and 2008 vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin contemplating presidential bids, is “anti-woman.” Or that the Republicans are to be considered suspect because they believe illegal immigration “should in fact be a crime,” as the video clip below highlights:
These are the kind of hypocrisies that voters understand intuitively. The hypocrisies that reflect one set of rules for the people we don’t like and another set of rules for the in clique. They don’t like it and they remember it when they vote.
Wasserman Schultz has some time yet to “grow into the job.” As long as the White House is happy with what she’s doing, she’s not going anywhere because, at the end of the day, she works for the president — not the party. Meaning he bears some responsibility for what she says and does.
More at Vodkapundit: “Wasserman is still a moron.”
And don’t miss Peter Roff on PJTV here.

The woman is a Marxist Kapo. End of story.
Eric she strikes me as being the typical democrat. every time their lips move look for a LIE,
With that hair, she looks like a Harpo Marxist Kapo!
Beautiful line!
If you can’t do anything better than comment about her hair then what’s the point of commenting? How does her hair make any difference whatsoever to her political views, goals and directions?
There is nothing to recommend her. One may as well comment on her attire or appearance. She is a shrill flack who, more often than not, doesn’t review her pronouncements before she delivers them (or she believes these erroneous blatherings) and so comes across as peculiarly uninformed. The President can have her.
What astounds me is that she could persuade any Florida Jewish person to vote for the President this time around. Remember the adage: fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. That should be the Republican mantra in every state and particularly in Florida, where most of the southeast electorate “Baaa-aaa.”
OK. Good point. DON’T comment about her hair. Comment about her ASS and THIGHS instead. Ever notice that she’s only photographed from the waist up?
http://americandigest.org/sidelines/2011/05/i_didnt_know_un.html
Is that better?
She perfectly illustrates what a J.A.P. is like.
This is an offensive term, like the “n” word, or any other ethnic slur. It insults all Jews, not just Jewish women you don’t like.
I understand your first amendment rights, but I would ask that you to rethink your manner of criticism, and put it in an ad raz (to the issue) rather than an ad hominum (attacking the individual) form.
J.A.P = jewish american princess . Not derogatory at all . It is an accurate label for certain stuck up jewish woman who want to be treated like royalty.
It is more descriptive than rich, spoiled bitches and bit more polite too.
If you’re going to use the word “jap”, which of course is derogatory, than use it correctly. DWS is not a jap. She’s a workaholic, Republican-hating party hack. Just look at her. She pays little attention to her dress and grooming or her figure. She isn’t spending all day shopping. The only thing she has common with the proverbial “jap” is that she’s Jewish.
From one granny to another: J.A.P. isn’t the same as jap as it was used as a slur for Japanese during WWII. I know many Jewish American Princesses who pride themselves on being referred to as such. My personal opinion is that they are not very nice people. Wassermann-Schultz is a perfect example, loud mouth, liar, shouting over anybody else who differs in opinion, in other words a democrat. One doesn’t have to shop or look gorgeous to be a J.A.P.
Teva,
Being Jewish and originally from Long Island (but a long way from rich), I used the term all the time. And true JAPs were from Long Island, especially the North Shore and the Five Towns area.
The problem with the term is not that it’s insulting, it is that it’s dated. I haven’t heard the term in 20 years.
Oh, rubbish. JAP is a perfectly splendid word to describe the ignorant, privileged daddy’s little girl of the Jewish persuasion. There’s no traumatic history associated with the word, unless you dated one. Henry Hill married a JAP. They should all be named Debbie.
JAP derogatory ? I beg to differ. It is part of every New Yorker’s lexicon which also includes such words as “goombah”, “putz”, “schlub”, “vaffanculo”, “arrivedela”, “shiksa”, “fa bene ?”, “starker” etc. Sorry, if other people get upset; that’s the way I and many other people that I know, speak and I seriously doubt that we’re going to change.
Trust me, there are a lot of Jewish women out here that abhor the term “J.A.P.”. I was soundly chewed out for using it to describe someone a good while back and have since learned the error of my ways. Regardless of whether some think it’s OK, others do not, and to gratuitously insult those who don’t care for the term is unacceptable.
Wow, you really are “from California” aren’t you? (snicker!)
A hideous harpie, and an abject dolt. Repulsive as she is, the more the public sees of her, the more they will be turned off so let her be the face of her party! Great move, leftists!
By the way, NY 26 was not an important election, despite the ravings of the Dems and the make-believe-media. And were it not for the fact that there was a fake Tea Party candidate to split the Republican vote, Corwin would have defeated Hochul; perhaps not by a wide margin but it would have been a clear Republican win. In any case, the House is still solidly Republican. My gut tells me we take the White House and the Senate in 2012.
BBREAKING: ANOTHER WOMAN COMES FORWARD WITH WEINER MATERIAL! Popcorn and pudding for breakfast!!!!
J.J. Sefton: “…make-believe-media.”
Love it. Far more appropriate than the “mainstream media.” Let’s hope it catches on. It needs to.
The MBM moniker was created by Ace over at Ace of Spades HQ. Hat tip to him.
Unfortunately, in this country too many people do think that making illegal aliens’ entry into this country illegal isn’t a good idea. These folks (and there are millions of ‘em) just aren’t that bright and do not see any further than the tip of their nose.
The new DNC chair is one of that crowd and a perfect choice for the chair of the party that picks and chooses which laws to obey.
Malcolm Muggeridge once remarked, “There is no snobbishness like that of professional egalitarians.”
What the Dems do best: another smug, silly little woman, prattling on about things of which she knows nothing.
It’s simply amazing that left wing progressives such as DWS, Tony Weiner, AlGore, Howie Dean, Chuckie Schumer, Aunt Nasty Pelosi, Harry Reid and all the others can say and do the most outrageous things and they just get away with it. Charlie Rangel for example, a notorious thief if there ever has been one in Congress yet he is still not in jail. AlGore and his global warming scam. Maybe AlGore should come on out to my little neck of the woods where up at the higher elevation it is probably still snowing this morning, June 6th 2011 and the weather guesser says that the snowpack probably won’t fully melt away this summer at all and the overnight temp down here on the valley floor is in the high 30′s!!! But let President Bush mispronounce the word nuclear and the uproar is immediate and long lasting.
Kenny thats so typical of democrats. I hate democrats as much as they hate Bush. no. much more,
The Socialist-Democrats are hypocrits. They claim to be tolerant, yet they are the most INTOLERANT bunch on the planet. Remember the racial segregation back in the 1950s? It was the DEMOCRATS who fought against integrating the schools and colleges. It was an off-shoot of the Democrat Party (the DixieCrats) that demanded “segregation now, segregation forever”.
Debbie Schultz is just another Socialist-Democrat, and she’s even dumber than most (if that’s possible).
Wasserman-Schultz is “pro-Israeli” in the same sense that Barack Obama is “pro-American”.
I agree with you. Moreover, in my personal opinion there are very, very few American jews who identify and support Israel. I’d say about 90% do not! Wassermann is one of the latter despite her fervent claim that she is on Israel’s side.
Schultz’s only argument to re-elect Obama is, “Well, it could have been worse.” Hardly an inspiring message considering how high unemployment is, how lousy the housing market it, and how high the national debt is. Nope, she’s going to have to defend that man/boy in the White House on his own record and, right now, that record looks horrible. And if you think things are bad right now and the debt is really high now, just wait and see what happens if the Supreme Court does not overturn Obamacare. We will be as broke as Spain or Greece if that happens and the horrible part is, Schultz and the Democrats know it. The bums. Vote them out in 2012.
The winning campaign slogan should be:
OBAMA – HE MADE IT WORSE.
Thar’s truth in advertising, especially if you add the word “intentionally” at the end of that line.
And he is doing it intentionally as you say. He said he was going to do it. He said his programs would “necessarily cause the price of energy to skyrocket” etc. Fundamental transformation from a free country with great personal liberty to a Marxist, Socialist regime with total government control.
Hey, look everybody! I agree with Chris!
Will ceases never wonder!
I like that.
Here’s another bumper sticker suggestion making the rounds:
“NO, HE COULDN’T”
When I made this video on DWS’s greatest hits I came to the conclusion that she holds a deep and abiding hatred of all things Republican. That’s what guides her. It’s the same for Obama.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrpco7tiMOw
She is so dumb… she actually believes her DNC talking points.
There was a woman running for state rep in my state who actually said repeatedly at debates (she was a first time candidate): I don’t know anything about the issue (and there were many!) but I trust my party (D) and will follow whatever they say. I think she and Deb. share the same brain.
As the clip shows dems are scraping the bottom of the barrel to fill their ‘leadership’ positions. If this woman thinks illegal aliens are an integral part of the economy she is too ‘deficient’ to be anything other than a Democratic Party hack. It looks like its going to be a ‘last man standing’ situation for these people the closer we get to what looks like another dem shellacking next year.
Debbie Schultz was the third-biggest fund raiser for the Democrats in 2008. Therefore, I suspect she was appointed DNC Chairman for the same reasons Howard Dean was, fund raising. If she cultivates other Congressional Democrats the way Pelosi did, by contributing to their campaigns, she might hope to succeed Pelosi as Speaker of the House. Schultz campaigns heavily on her religion, which I suppose is only to be expected of a Democrat in a predominantly Jewish Congressional district. Obama might need her to try to hold onto the Jewish vote, which went 78% for Obama in 2008. So the Democrats might have more reasons than are obvious to have appointed her DNC Chairman. Her gaffematic foot in mouth problem will provide some comedy relief in the next election.
She is just what Obama needs, a party hack with an agressive disregard for the truth and no sense of shame or embarrassment for the obvious crap they expound.
In other words, someone just like him.
Mark me down as one of those Republicans who believes that illegal immigration should be a crime. Priceless.
And the next thing might be Democrat money laundering and embezzlement being considered CRIMES!
I’d like to know where they have the Democrat Constitution hidden. There’s gotta be one just for them.
This female has terminal PMS, and is a suicide bomber for the Democrat Party.
She’s a Nazi in a “sheitel”, and makes Alan Grayson sound like Billy Graham.
I believe she has a Ph.D from Drunken Sailor U.
DWS… Seriously Democrats? hahaha Wow, with EEO hires like this stuck-on-stupid woman, the forthcoming election should be delicious. J.J. Sefton, pass that popcorn down here!
For the retired snowbirds/yentas and the like living la vida loca in your A/C’d Florida bungalows who pulled the Uhbama lever in ’08, don’t make the same mistake again.
From the get-go, Uhbama was, is and will always be anti-Israeli/Jew, anti-Capitalism, anti-private business (you know, the 70% + of our nation’s businesses who are in hiring-hibernation mode due to the collectivist-maroon in office), anti-senior citizen (far too much information to espouse here..), supports the fiction/racial nonsense of, ‘gender/racial justice’ and ‘business as usual’ for the present country-bankrupting ‘entitlement’ programs etc.,
You retired folk have ALL the time in the world to read, research. Please, please do so.
Old habits die hard. The people who pulled the lever for the most far-left Democrat (according to National Journal) in the Senate will do so again. Those retired snowbirds had ample time to research Obama in 2008 and they STILL voted for him. They will again this time for one reason – force of habit.
Then they are STUPID and deserve it if this idiot is re-elected and decides to make Soylent Green out of their worthless hides! hmmm not a bad idea…without the re-election!!
Possibly they do, but we don’t. We deserve better. If they do it from habit then they are shirking there responsibility as a citizen and would be better staying home instead of voting through habit. That’s just stupid.
Again I must agree with Chris!
What is happening here?
Methinks, they’d rather rely on hanging chads. Honestly they give the rest of us seniors in other parts of the country a bad name.
Duh duh duh Debbie has a hard time with Facts , simple math, and telling the truth. She is the typical Democrat Mascot (a Jack Ass). Clueless and short sighted at best..
“Debbie Wasserman-Putz.”
“As chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Wasserman Schultz is obliged to “support candidates whose positions on Israel are different from yours,” as Brooks put it.”
Indeed. The leftist J Street is in a snit because the Israeli government refused to meet their delegation which included five *Democratic* congressmen. (They’re slated to meet Palestinian and Israeli opposition leaders.) Those are DWS’ people. Republicans know that the self-described “pro-Israel pro-peace” group is actually pro-Palestinian and pro-Obama. Supporting such positions puts her in conflict with many of Florida’s Jewish voters. And one shouldn’t forget that both Allen West and Marco Rubio won in Florida.
Debbie has been something of a joke for awhile, so it was a surprise she was named DNC chair.
Obama seems to have a predilection for witless ideological broads who flatter him, see poster child Valerie Jarrett, one of the very few Chicago insiders still hanging around the White House.
It’s a good sign for republicans that a mental midget and blabbermouth like DWS is running democrats’ fundraising etc.
I hope her constituency in South Florida comes to its senses next time she is up for re-election.
As for illegal immigration being, you know, illegal, recall when Hillary Clinton was still a candidate for POTUS and announced loudly to a man in Las Vegas whose wife was hiding in the next room…
“No woman is illegal !”
You can’t make this stuff up.
I saw “Let her talk!” All the better for us come 2012
I don’t believe Barack Obama is a Muslim, but I do believe he is in love with Muslims. Jews who trust him with their votes in 2012 on the basis of his campaign weaseling do so at their peril.
Jewish supporters are needed badly in Obama`s anti-Israel administration.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a Democrat and therefore she is in the Marxist camp.
Just what we don’t want anymore.. She is a fraud, lies every time she gets in front of the camera.. A joke really.
This is the closet I have ever seen a woman becoming a Marxist Dictator in my life time. She may seem aggressive to some but to me she is nothing but abrasive. Any one that believes her to be a leader in our time is as sick as those that voted for Obama in the first place.
She is not only a very homely person but has a very ugly disposition and an anti-American attitude.
On second thought, she is the perfect fit for the Democrat Spokes person. Ugly, Anti American, Anti religion, Socialist Marxist *itch
Mustang, have you forgotten Nancy Pelosi?
“One of the most tremendous sources of pride for me is that I am the first Jewish woman to represent the state of Florida in Congress. And another tremendous source of pride is that I am a pro-Israel Jewish member of Congress and I proudly support a president that is pro-Israel.”
Hey Debbie – sayin it don’t make it true. There are no actions to support your claims of supporting Israel.
Come to think of it since the MSM doesn’t fact check (too busy reading/implementing the day’s plan of attack from the DNC) and somewhere around 40% of the electorate hears those words and believes it just because they heard it on the MSM why it must be true, eh?
As Bugs Bunny would say – “What a maroon”.
What is it with all these Democrat carpetbaggers. Nancy Pelosi, born and raised in Baltimore, Barbra Boxer, born and raised in New York, Wasserman-Shultz, Hillary Clinton, born and raised in Chicago, schooled in Mass. I’m sure the list goes on.
She always appears as if she is a robot spouting a pre-recorded message. When anyone interrupts her she assumes the same look as a deer caught in the head lights and, like an 8 year old reciting a memorized poem, she pauses and then must start all over from the beginning.
DWS, Pelosi, Valerie Jarrett, Hillary Clinton, Jackson-Lee, Maxine Waters, Allyson Schwartz, and far too many other females in Congress/administration have done more to damage the reputation of those who strive to reach powerful positions than many realize.
Little Debbie Socialist.
I am a pro-Israel Jewish member of Congress and I proudly support a president that is pro-Israel.
So she supports President Bush? Because she can’t possibly be talking about Pres Obama. He’s the most anti Israel president since Carter if not in history.
Just how does she go about raising funds I wonder? It certainly isn’t her intelligence. She is rather cute, like a poodle. Maybe that has something to do with it. Talk about the dumbing down of our culture!
This woman is an IDIOT. I saw here vis-a-vis Paul Ryan on some talking head show and it was pure embarrassment for anyone who can walk and chew gum at the same time.
She has a special form of idiocy in which she doesn’t know she’s an idiot, which makes it even more uncomfortably retarded.
She didn’t know anything and Paul Ryan was magnanimous enough not to point that out. She wasn’t really even part of the conversation, she just barked like my mother ‘s shitzu.
DEBBIE WASSERMAN STAIN:the rabid bitch sock puppet for the left wing plutocracy’s left hand (OBAMA is the right hand’s sock puppet).
Folks here are making the same mistake the Left does regarding Sarah Palin. You are underestimating her. She is every bit as dangerous as Obama.
She is attractive. You may not think so, but she cleans up pretty well. It is one of the reasons she is such a good fund-raiser.
She has no scruples. She will tell the most brazen lie. She will use any means necessary.
She knows how the system works, and will ruthlessly exploit it. Obama demonstrates his ignorance of many things on a regular basis, as does Schultz. They do not learn stuff, because it is unimportant to do so. Pulling the levers of power is what matters. It is all they need to know.
This woman is the next Obama. She will be even more ruthless than he. She is like a younger, even-more-ruthless version of Pelosi. There is a very good reason she was chosen. The Dems DO know how to play hardball. Do not dismiss her so lightly. You should be very concerned. This is the future. You are looking at it. Be very afraid.
The Right could win the next Presidential race, struggle to fix all the things which have been broken, and will be demonized the whole time by the Left for the fixing. The demonization could work, and this woman could be the President who follows. I hope she continues to come across as Howard-Dean-like crazy and flames out similarly to him. I expect so, but I know better than to dismiss her lightly. Never underestimate a ruthless person.
Don’t think for a minute that DWS isn’t the Pelosi in waiting/training. They went to Arizona together and were in Senator Giffords room when she awoke. Isn’t that cozy? Her voice grates on me.
Debbie Washermutt Schmutz could have been a “stewardess” on one of the trains to Auschwitz in a prior life. I don’t think she’d have a problem yelling “all aboard” for a wonderful trip to to the German work camps. Where you’ll all be provided with showers…and that smoke from those chimneys are from the wonderful ribs and chicken they’re preparing for you.
A phony…a fraud and a JINO as one put it before. I know. I live in South Florida and I see her hypocrisy every day. Down here…all it takes is a name ending in “man or berg” to get elected by these blind fools. Alan West’s victory over Ron ( Clown ) Klein was a miracle in and of itself.
Because the Jews couldn’t decide if voting against a black man would forever label them racists. Since they had been the strongest allies of the civil rights movement. So they decided to sacrifice one of their own to prove and sustain their “liberal” credibility.
And before anyone accuses me of anti semitism…forget it. I married a Jew 41 years ago and we still get along…OY!@ I just happen to know how they play the game, is all.
Arbeit Macht Frei!
I love how the leftist media have mis-represented the NY26 election results.
Corwin did not lose because she was a ‘weak’ candidate. She lost because she was running against TWO opponents. The Tea Party candidate split the vote of people on the right, and gave the win to the Democrats.
Granny Jan- great job on the video! Of all her tirades that most infuriates me, it’s the complete bull$hit about the right being the perpetrators of violent language, violent imagery, violent acts….I can swallow that she believes most of her talking points….but trying to pin that on the Right is just biscuits lying.
Snaggled-tooth.
This is not to the main theme here but the NY by-election was mentioned. The Democrats seem to be hyping Medicare as their main campaign theme because see that as the determining factor. They made this same mistake before and it cost them big time.
Dick Thornburgh was Attorney General in the GHW Bush administration,
“He resigned as Attorney General in 1991 to run for the U.S. Senate seat left vacant when Senator John Heinz was killed in a plane crash. Thornburgh was widely expected to win the seat; however, he was defeated in a surprise upset by Democrat Harris Wofford”.
Wofford ran on the medical care issue. Post election analysis showed that that issue had very little to do with the outcome. “All politics is local”.
However, the new Clinton administration was looking for a big issue to kick off the new regime, and also for something for Hillary to do. They pointed to Pennsylvania to justify this.
“HillaryCare”, as it was dubbed, turned out to be a disaster. The Democrats lost both Houses of Congress in 1994. HillaryCare was the major club that turned the public around.
If they run on Medicare it will just deepen and widen the gaping, bleeding wound that is Obamacare. With any luck, they’re still stuck on stupid.
“Those who were on the ground in the race suggest the eventual victory had more to do with the GOP fielding a weak candidate, state Assemblyman Jane Corwin, than with any kind of meaningful, cohesive strategy. Messaging played a role, but only in the sense that Corwin’s failure to respond in a timely way to attacks made by her Democratic opponent, newly elected U.S. Rep. Kathy Hochul, allowed her to be defined in a way the made any response, when it finally came, too little, too late.”
There was also the Democrat that chose to run on the Tea Party ticket as a 3rd party spoiler.
Liberals Exposed, In Every Way
Liberals are a sorry bunch. Since you can’t shoot ‘em, ya gotta love ‘em, sort of, and, it must be admitted they provide a much-needed entertainment factor, sort of.
You have to wonder what’s wrong with them, though. Lib politicians, especially, seem to have a screw loose somewhere when it comes to their aberrant sexual proclivities.
Whether it be the smarminess of Democrat Rep. Anthony Weiner, a story still growing, so to speak, the lustiness of Democrat Sen. Jumping Johnny Edwards or of hooker-loving Democrat Governor Eliot Spitzer, or the midnight truck-stopping of Democrat Governor Jim McGreevey, they appear unable to control themselves which, I guess, is what makes them Dem liberals.
The good news is that those pervs all reside in the New York area. The bad news is that there are any number of lib “celebs” out there with widespread audiences to whom they spew vile liberal opinion.
Demonstrating that a lack of decorum and class isn’t confined to lib-men, one member of the distaff side, Time reporterette, Nina Burleigh, famously said back in 1998, “I would be happy to give [Bill Clinton] a blowjob just to thank him for keeping abortion legal. I think American women should be lining up with their presidential kneepads on to show their gratitude for keeping the theocracy off our backs.”
Like I said, classy. (It’s not known whether Bubba collected his reward.)
Pols and oral sex aside, among the sorriest of all liberal celebrities, of sorts, is Bill Maher.
Sam Wurzelbacher, aka Joe the Plumber, was once asked if he could punch someone famous who would he pick and quickly answered, “Bill Maher. It would be fun to lay that boy out. But I’d look like a bully because he’s so much smaller than I am. ” Joe/Sam’s sentiments are entirely understandable.
Maher, the least funny comedian on the planet who took up political commentary after a failed career as a stand-up comic, is notable in a variety of ways, none of them flattering. However, being an arch-liberal he gets away with doing and saying the most reprehensible things such as when he opined on Obama and the Gulf oil disaster.
Demeaning all African-Americans, the consistently foul-mouthed Maher ranted, “I thought when we elected a black president, we were going to get a black president. . . a real black president. I want him in a meeting with the BP CEOs, you know, where he lifts up his shirt where you can see the gun in his pants. That’s — (in black man voice) ‘we’ve got a motherfu**ing problem here?’ Shoot somebody in the foot.”
Racism is just fine when articulated by a lib. So, too, is misogyny, when the targets are conservative women. Grossly illiberal, intemperate, hypocritical slurs hurled at former Governor Sarah Palin and Rep. Michelle Bachmann are perfectly acceptable in Liberal World. Maher called them “two bimbos,” characterized Palin as “a t*at,” and Bachmann a “c*nt.”
Not a peep emanated from the nation’s preeminent liberal women’s spokeswomen at the National Organization for Women.
The déclassé Maher . . .
(Read more at http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=4749)
You might have something there;
Shultz might be Maher in drag. And he cleans up his act for the role because he’s now a b*tch.
Or……. It could be the other way around.
wasserman shultz is just like the liar Robert Wexler and I think Florida realizes that she is a useful ” mustache” for the real agenda.
For a photo essay on Debbie Wasserman Shultz’s (and O’Bama’s) supporters and constituents, what issues are important to them, and what they want for the rest of the United States, see this:

She may be a “fuse” set to be blamed with Democratic Debacle II in November. They are going to need a scapegoat and she is almost ideal for the role.
the DNC is likely to collapse under her leadership. strange days.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz is god’s gift to the Republican party. May Reince Priebus seize the moment.
