As if the White House didn’t have enough to worry about, a recent Gallup poll piled on bad news for President Obama. At the beginning of 2010 the president enjoyed support from 69% of Hispanics. By May that number was down to 57%. Now just 55% of Hispanics support the president and his liberal agenda. This news by itself is devastating to the Democrats’ prospects in the 2010 midterm elections.
But what’s going on behind the numbers could possibly be a harbinger of doom for Obama’s re-election in 2012. Across the country conservative Latino organizations are springing up as fast as illegal immigrants are streaming across the border. And these organizations are not content to just conduct meetings and complain about the liberal takeover in Washington. Some are taking action. In Dallas, Amigos de Patriots is launching an online and TV ad campaign called “Vote your Values, Vote Conservative.” The idea is to remind Hispanics that their ancestors fled countries where prosperity was killed by left-wing regimes. The 30-second spots also take on social issues like abortion, a practice that is dear to liberals and Democrats but that the Latino community at large finds offensive.

A traitor to what, actually wanting a good job as a way to succeed in life? I say that Obama and his minions are actually taking that dream AWAY from Latinos. Actually, we Latinos exhibit many bedrock traits that are very conservative in nature: 1. extremely good work ethic, 2. we are family oriented, 3. we tend to be active members of the Roman Catholic church, and 4. we want a better life for our children. To suggest that we will fall into the same trap as African-Americans and expect the latter from the welfare state is absurd. That is not what Marianella said. She said that Latinos wouldn’t fall into the same trap African-Americans have, expecting the welfare state to provide for them. It is undeniable, and sadly true that the welfare state has done immense damage to Blacks, and far too many have succumbed to the siren song of “government is mother, father and community, providing all worldly needs”. The modern welfare state wastes so many talents, corrodes self-esteem, engenders hopelessness, and destroys families and communities. To see the evidence of this, one has only to visit any inner-city ghetto (or barrio) and see the destruction the welfare state has wrought. Where blacks once had strong families and stronger communities, now 70% of black babies are born to single mothers and their communities are a shambles!!
This phenomena is hardly limited to Blacks. Indeed, it is found in any community of any color where welfare has replaced individual achievement and government has replaced family and the bonds of community.
Unfortunately, some Hispanics have fallen into this trap, as well as too many whites and others. Big government has made it so much more difficult to succeed that many give up trying. You can’t really blame them, but it is our duty to help them learn a better way, opening the doors of American opportunity for one and all, once again. This requires first getting government out of the way. Even more difficult, however, will be deprogramming those who have been trained to be victims and hate others because of what they have achieved or the color of their skin or any other such nonsense.
I hope that all colors can escape this trap, rebuild their communities and restore their families. We can’t go on like this any more. Giving someone down on their luck a hand is fine and providing for the disabled is the civilized thing to do, but having bright, able-bodied, capable people dependent on government for life is incredibly destructive to them, and society.
Excellent post. Everyday I can see what the Great Society has done to the black community in my town. I’m certain that the recent immigrants from Mexico and central America can see that this is not a future that they want for themselves or their children. A society cannot be healthy when it is consumed, as we are, with identity politics, guilt/envy, and a narcissistic focus on self esteem. Well, I’m not so sure about your analysis of the hispanic vote. I think they have moved BEYOND much of what you say and are far more sophisticated in their voting patterns. In the large California city where I live the hispanic population is very concerned about public transportation for instance. The United States had an amazing rail network a hundred years ago, but more recently the government and taxpayers have proven reluctant to spend money on infrastructure and things like education, a shortsighted decision that will prove very costly to coming generations, which will be made up increasingly of hispanics. Instead we have manufactured culture wars about homosexuality and abortion and arguments about “mosques.” This doesn’t put food on the tables of hispanic families and they know it. Too bad you don’t

It also comes down to jobs. How much of a future is Obama and his pathetic administration offering Latinos? Is he offering more industries that will hire more permanent Latino workers on their payrolls, or is he offering more welfare and more government handouts that will just make these proud people beggars on the government dole? This is great, I always wondered why would immigrants want to vote with the Progressives, Socialist or any candidate who shares those values when they have lived that life prior to immigrating to the USA and surely there main reason to immigrate from there to here is the #1 reason to be free of all those Socialistic Ideals and elections where your vote doesn’t matter, or your voice is never heard. This doesn’t surprise me at all — in fact, it’s consistent with what my Mexican friends and in-laws have told me. They are a very warm, family oriented, honorable people, of very strong faith and a very strong work ethic. They abhor much of the Democrat platform — like abortion — and are terrified that the crime and corruption and violence they left behind in Mexico will be allowed to flourish here… and yes, they do blame Obama and the Democrats. They didn’t leave Mexico because they hated the landscape or the weather, they were trying to flee the unbearable living conditions. The last thing they want is to see their adopted land corrupted the same way.

Are you for real? In a multiethnic society people always vote along ethnic lines. Besides, Hispanics have very high rates of illegitimacy (higher among American-born Hispanics) and many depend on government. They are a natural constituency of the Democrats.
If voters tend to vote along ethnic lines, make sure that line is Republican, then.
As far as high illegitimacy/high government dependency – while I abhor illegal immigration, the Hispanics I’ve known have been just like ordinary Americans. They want jobs, preferably good jobs. They want homes. They want the best for their children: the stability of a two-parent home, a good education, and opportunity. America as conservatives see it has much, much more to offer new Hispanic immigrants than does America as liberals see it.
I think your high-illegitimacy/govt. dependency immigrants fall largely in the illegal category, who I’d ship home anyway: people coming here for the purpose of having illegitimate anchor babies and depending on Uncle Sam. Cut down on illegal immigrancy and you wind up with an ethnic voting base that naturally votes Republican. (That is one reason no intelligent Republican should support any form of amnesty.)
The white establishment GOP tolerates brown people so long as they know their place: always smile and be courteously subservient to whites, don’t ever mention slavery or injustice, don’t try to organize for more rights, don’t complain when they make racists jokes, don’t try to date their daughters, don’t try to move above your station, and surely don’t every be president. I’m very concerned to the path that this country has been going for the last few years,the left has been always lurking around trying to destroy EU from within and these times have proven to be very perilous times for the American democracy but with the help of God and all the good Americans this country will be back on track. On November 2nd the tide will change.
From down here in south Florida, I have to say that I know very few Democrats and none are my friends. I remember JFK stabbing the Cuban people in the back. I remember Jimmy Carter aiding and abetting Daniel Ortega and the Sandinistas, and certifying and blessing Hugo Chavez rigged election a few years back. Why would I find common cause with Socialist? But then, some Latinos are out and out Communist, and they came here to sabotage my country. Shut down the GD border already. Deport the illegals and the socialist. We are fighting for our Republic.

Some of you know that William F. Buckley grew up in Mexico City and spoke perfect Spanish. There he learned the basics of how tyranny works. Mexicans and other immigrants of Latin American countries have a brain (contrary to Liberal belief) and can think by themselves. Our values are already Conservative. Also remember that the old Spanish residents of Tejas, Nuevo Mexico, Colorado, California, Nevada, Arizona, Florida (those states don’t have Spanish names just by chance) were there before the American Revolution even started and they have given their lives for this country in every war since. “Latinos” don’t vote from the neck down the way certain other demographics do. There are plenty of them – Cubans particularly – who hate Communism and the Left with a passion that even the so-called “Right Wingers” can rarely match.
One of our biggest problems is the Mexican parasites. I don’t know anything about Mexican society, but it’s pretty clear from who comes up here that there are at least two classes of them – those who come up here and start businesses and work for a living, and a huge contingent of worthless criminal parasites. I recall a Mexican woman calling a talk show once and describing the situation in exactly those terms, too – and she wanted the illegal immigration *stopped*.
I never understood the assumption that Latinos would blindly follow the big government scam en masse. Big Government is an anti-freedom, wasteful, incompetent model and I just could never see them all falling for such a stupid, dangerous idea. From what I see of them, they don’t seem all that much different from the Italian immigrants from years ago. They seem to be family oriented with a generally Catholic or Christian background and quite hard working. They just seem to have more common sense than buy the Democrat con.
Blacks, Jews, women, young people and Hispanics all came out in large numbers to support Obama as the “outsider” candidate — just as Southerners and Born-Again Christians put Jimmy Carter into office in ’76 and Catholics backed Kennedy in ’60. After these “ground-breaking” elections, though, the voters regained their equilibrium. Latinos are no better off under Obama than under Bush, just as Born-Agains were no better off under Carter than under Ford, and Catholics were no better off under Kennedy than under Eisenhower. IN subsequent elections, Kennedy got assasinated, Carter got dumped, and Obama will hopefully suffer the same fate as the latter. Latino-Americans are Americans and Christians, in much the same way as German-Americans and Irish-Americans are Americans and Christians; and I’m glad of it. And in this coming election, all of the above will be very Republican.
Yes, maybe in California, latinos vote democrat, but that’s only because Californians are mostly insane. California is insane because is full of mexicans.
We in latinamerica don’t really care about mexicans, it’s ok they have tacos and mariachis but that’s all. I mean, as long as mexicans keep doing tacos and mariachis is all ok. As soon as we start speaking about politics and economics it’s better to send mexicans to sleep, that’s not a theme for children, only for adults.
I hope they understand some day the lefty way of life is self destructive, no votes a los pinches comunistas, wake up guey!

There are conservatives and liberals of all colors and ethnicities. To paint with a broad brush is exactly what the MSM wants. Think about it, have you ever seen a “race” line on a ballot? Who tells us that X % of blacks and Y % of Latinos vote this way or that? Bingo, the same MSM propagandists who say the TEA movement is all about race. Don’t make assumptions, leave that to the leftists, it’s the only way they can sleep at night.

Since we first started passing popular referendums here in Arizona [long before SB1070] we have always known that the supposed leftist ownership of a monolithic latino vote is propagandist bunk.
Latino’s were always between 25%-45% in FAVOR of the anti-immigration props passed. Why? Well first Latino’s are a natural CONSERVATIVE constituency – for reasons Chris Salcedo notes. But also because they, unlike many in the secular liberal community, are deeply religious and traditional family oriented.
And once the invasion reached epic proportions under Janet Napolitano – the LEGAL Latino community quickly recognized who stood the most to lose – namely – themselves. There has been a ‘poisoning of the well’ effect because of the leftists who have demanded open borders and amnesty – and who try and end any discussion by charging racism.

In one of his recent campaign speeches President Obama declared that the Republican Party wanted to leave “the middle class to fend for themselves.”
There is no clearer evidence regarding this Presidents total disconnect from the America he was elected to govern. Does he really believe that middle or any class America cannot fend for themselves? Yes he does and he wants the American voter to allow him more time to impose more government control over every aspect of our lives.
Those who want government in their face and in their pocket book will vote the Democratic ticket; those who don’t are going to rattle Obama’s halo, very soon now.
Van Jones and the Tea Party
Obama’s nominee for the position of Special Advisor for Green Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Anthony K. Jones, withdrew his name from consideration last year after calling Republicans “a**holes” in a speech at Berkeley and then having his racist, radical past outed.
However, as vermin tend to do, he has again crawled out from under the woodwork. A walking, talking testimonial to the patent absurdity and overtly racist policy of affirmative action, the black “green czar” wannabe is in the news again.
This time around he denounced the Tea Party and its threat to all things Obamian with his characteristic lies and distortions. ”If you think things are bad now,” he bellowed, ”what will happen when the people who are screaming and yelling at these Tea Party events are actually in charge of your government, and in charge of your life, and in charge of your kids’ future? . . . I don’t think you want the Tea Party running your community, running your family, running your government. . .

When I was working as a physicist at White Sands, most of the people I worked with were Hispanic, and the great majority were very conservative poitically.
The global hispanic community is still rife with leftist ideology. Communism, socialism and anti-Americanism is still very popular in Mexico and Central/South America. And also in the Carribean and in Spain and Portugal. “Hispanic” is also a very loose ethnic term. Most conservative hispanics – such as the Cuban-Americans – are really white and view themselves as such. This kind of conservative ethnic battle cry reminds me of all the times I’ve heard that blacks are rushing to the right. Yeah… never really happens though.
Hopefully Latinos won’t go hook line and sinker for identity politics. Yes there is still bigotry in the world, but race-baiters need it for their existance. The last thing Latinos need is La Raza and like minded groups acting like they speak for all Latinos.
They want to use us – we are conservative and hard working by nature!

Shock–and awe–are relative terms. Some people can be shocked if they witness a purse-snatching, others won’t be even mildly shocked by a gruesome mass murder. The following have been shockers to at least some individuals:
Abortion Video–Missy Reilly Smith has had two abortions and, like Norma McCorvey, the “Jane Roe” of Roe v. Wade, is now a dedicated pro-lifer. She is also a candidate for the position of D.C. delegate to the House of Representatives, a post long-held in a lockhold by Elizabeth Holmes Norton.
Smith figured that since she had been there and done that that she was well-qualified to acquaint women, teens, and others with something most people either don’t know or don’t want to know, namely what really happens to pre-born babies when an abortion is committed.
Accordingly, as part of her campaign, Smith ran 30 second spots on local television stations in the Washington area which graphically demonstrated the so-called “products of abortion,” an act she rightly terms “murder.” The spots are so graphic that the stations, legally required by federal law to air, felt compelled to introduce with a 15 second disclaimer. YouTube banned them as “shocking and disgusting.”
Smith’s ads come with her impassioned voice over speaking on behalf of both women and babies: “I was told it’s not a baby. They lied to me. They exploited me, she swears. “Then I learned the truth and I’ve suffered for years. And believe me I am angry. My heart has been ripped out. Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Norton–they all support the murder of babies and the abuse of women by abortion. It’s time to make child killing illegal again.”

My grand parents went through Ellis Island a hundred years ago. They never put their hand out with their palm up. They worked hard and earned every morsel of food on their plate and shingle on their house. What has the liberals done for anybody of late? They have been waging this war on poverty since the 50′s. How is that working out? So in 1 week we take our country back and hold those accountable. The arrogance and shear stupidity of the left is simply astounding!
