Khamenei Wants Mousavi Arrested and Broken

Indeed, several leading Iranians have already called for the arrest, trial, and punishment of Mousavi, whose Green Movement has so severely shaken the regime in the past two months. Several members of parliament have lodged complaints against Mousavi, and legal filing forms are available online, containing ready-made complaints against Mousavi.

Anyone can put his signature on the forms.

The question of the day: which organ of the state is going to undertake the arrest of the opponents of the regime?

Last Saturday, Mohammad Reza Khatami — the brother of the former president — revealed that the targets of the show trials had not been arrested on orders of the courts or even the intelligence services. They were all arrested by the Revolutionary Guard. He even specified their home base as the Tharallah barracks, and he went on to say that the Revolutionary Guard have in their possession a very broad arrest warrant issued quite some time ago.

Some days ago several sources in Tehran informed me that Supreme Leader Khamenei has approved the arrest warrant against Mir Hossein Mousavi. Only two persons are authorized to issue such a warrant — the supreme commander of the Revolutionary Guards or the chief prosecutor of the revolutionary courts in Tehran. The arrest warrant is a blank check which the authorities can use at any time.

The rulers are clearly fed up with the demonstrations and want them terminated as quickly as possible. They think that if they can arrest and break Mousavi, his movement will disintegrate. In reality, the opposite is more likely. Mousavi has told his supporters “if they come for me, shut down the country,” which many of them will do. The arrest of Mousavi will immediately lead to more protests, more bloodshed, and even greater repression.

This is the path on which the regime is now marching, and only outside forces have the chance of deterring the leaders of the Islamic Republic. It is urgent that the European Union issues a warning to Iran about the potential consequences of the arrest of Mousavi. If this cannot be achieved, then leading European countries should do it themselves, ignoring the specious argument that this would constitute improper interference in Iran’s internal affairs.

The future of Iran is of global importance, and countries like Germany, France, Italy, and the Netherlands — who are major trading partners of Tehran — are fully entitled to warn the mullahs that the arrest of Mousavi is unacceptable and would have grave and immediate consequences. They should also call on the United Nations to appoint a special investigator for the massive human rights violations committed by the regime.

The message should be clear: Mousavi is not to be arrested. If he is, we will face “Zimbabwean circumstances” in Iran, with the difference being that Iran is much more important to the world than Zimbabwe.

One US-hating mullah devouring another US-hating mullah. Quite a spectacle.

By the way, whatever happened to the Islamists and their lefty allies who scant months ago were touting the Iranian ‘democracy?’

Probably in the same dorm rooms as those who dnied Chavez was a dictator…..

  4. Those jihadists and Khameneis all look alike to me. Sunni, shiite…they are all the same NUTS!

So have you noticed Eric Holder is in charge here??? Dropped charges against the club wielding voter intimidators in Philly!! And are now set to investigate the CIA, Bush and Cheney. So why is Iran the topic here???

And the islamic Zimbabwe is what we’re trying to build relations with hoping they’ll change and be nicer to their people and Israel?

So, who cares if one Islamic thug kills another one?

  8. 8. The Toad

OK, so the head Islamic thug wants to get rid of a lesser Islamic thug. So what?

Why does the machinations of a totalitarian theocracy matter to us. They are fast becoming the newest nuclear power, but that is irrelevant, unavoidable, and inconsequential, according to Fearless Reader; they are a Muslim Theocracy that Our Fearless Reader has the greatest respect for and he will always side with the Muslim if an ill wind blows, (His words not mine, or at least Bill Ayers wrote them as his words.)

The Iranian Theocracy is trying to crush dissent and opposition. The hit back four times as hard analogy of our own administration’s attempt to quash dissent and opposition is eerily similar to Iran’s. Their method is typical of Socialist policy in Soviet Russia, China, Cuba, National Socialists and Cambodia. Is Fearless Leader capable of emulating the techniques of his heroes. I think he will implement what ever Socialist policies that we allow him to install, the stakes are getting higher; people realize they are going to face Union and Acorn Thugs directed by the Executive office if they show up to demonstrate.

Obama has just made a serious effort to crush opposition, his thugs and henchmen have immunity with impunity; to meet violence with violence will end up with arrests and a more violent reaction from the legalized Brown Shirts. A Gandhi like passive resistance is safer and more practical.

Why should we pay attention to the Thugocracy in Iran, because their policy has just started here in America.

If we are truly lucky, they will kill each other dead….

Seems like we have our own “Obama Theocracy” tryin’ to happen…

    …plus i agree with #5 moron

So, what are the recommendations of our geniuses in the administration and in the State Department? Are we to give our tacit approval to the Iranian thugs by sitting on our thumbs?

I hope they arrest Mousavi…such an action will set all of Iran on fire and burn the greedy mullahs
out of their blood soaked high towers!
Now let us look at our own mullah sitting in his high tower at the white house and see if all
the troubles he is bringing on us will fall on his own heads. We can hope, ah yes hope for change!

Give it up Mr. Ellian… I remember reading earlier that Mr. Ledeen said that thr time was running out on this regime…

I said it was Tiananmen all over again. Monopoly of force folks held by a government willing to use it without pity wins every time! And only America used to have the will to do someting about it.. that was until January 20th 2009….

I called it months ago and still standby my proposition on how to over throw these bastards..

    http://www.bloggybayou.com/2009/06/ya-say-you-want-revolution.html

Snicker and laugh all you want… I called it then and I’m still right and my plan would work. Ya just need a President with balls…. consider it arming the Contras…

obama is using the same tactics of intimidation. First it’s CIA agents, next opponents of healthcare and then all other opponents.

“[I]slamic Japan,” “islamic Zimbabwe,” ———- what a crock, and what a tremendous misreading of the situation.

Iran is on the way to becoming a VAST GROUND ZERO.

Iran is on the path towards a full-blown nuclear exchange with Israel, and with even the United States. The leaders of the country aren’t really interested in economic growth, entering “the community of nations” and bettering the quality of life of the citizens thereof. They’re interested in hastening the arrival of the mahdi.

Which means going after Israel, going after “the great Satan” and trying to bring down the West itself.

  16. 16. bob

That actually sounds like a good plan, ER White. Simple, effective, lost cost.

  17. 17. Adina Kutnicki,Israel

IF only it were that simple to convince Iran’s main trading partners to tighten the screws.

While economic gains are of special import to the regime-all in order to continue their march towards nuclear blackmail-they will NEVER go quietly into the night, threats or no threats.

Read my lips – the Iranian Hitler and his band of Messianic cultists are hell bent on ushering in the Mahdi. This is NOT science fiction, nor over the top rhetoric. This is a fact of their Shia eschatology, and nothing will derail them for their divine mission.

Therefore, people of goodwill should stand up and tell the truth. That there is a VERY small window of time before Israel pre-empts. Not being one who usually has confidence that Israel’s leaders will act in their citizens best interests, on the issue of Iran’s nuclear project there is NO argument. The leaders want them stopped as much as the citizens do.This is an existential matter for our whole nation. Do or die.

Therefore, anything that can thwart them in their tracks towards stopping their nuclear bomb quest will in effect save MANY more Iranian lives than any other scheme of economic strangulation etc. The mullahs can’t possibly purge by their own internal rampages more citizens than the fallout with Israel will cause, regardless of how carefully Israeli war planners execute their mission, with the intent to save the civilian population from collateral damage.

To not see the forest from the trees is decidedly suicidal.

    Mr. White:

Hold off on your gloating for a while. After Tiananmen Square the PRC embarked on a serious effort to accelerate economic reform. They delivered something other then Stalinist/Hitlerite thuggery that bought them time to get the Chinese people to buy into the new civil society.

The mullahs are moving in the opposite direction. They can maintain power in the very short run but will collapse as their energy becomes absorbed by the terror they need to apply to stay in power. The best case for IRGC and the Mullahs is devolution to a Zimbabwe-like primitive state or worst case a failed state like Somalia. This will happen before they achieve nuclear capability. Either state of affairs is net plus for the United States, the Sunni Arab world and Israel.

On another note, whatever Mousavi was a generation ago has become irrelevant. If he survives he becomes an Iranian Yeltsin because he has no other choice at his point then to seek the end of the Islamic Republic and what it stands for.

Adina has this on the money. And it’s been so for quite some time. I wrote about it at Blogcritics Magazine, and while I may have had the timing of my predictions off just a bit, bringing the Mahdi is the Iranian program of messianic politics.

  20. 20. Adina Kutnicki,Israel

Ruvy # 19-Despite Israel’s leaders penchant for pandering, as well as their otherwise unfathomable policies, they do believe the Iranian Hitler intends to wipe them off the map, and this is all the world needs to understand.

So,IF people are deluded enough to believe that Israel won’t act on its own-knowing full well that Obama will do nothing to thwart Iran-they would do well to disabuse themselves of said delusions.

It won’t be pretty here in Israel ex post facto, but it will be far better than total annihilation!

  21. 21. Ruvy

    Adina,

I frankly pray (I am realistic enough not to expect) that the régime here will nuke Tehran and other Persian cities so that the Persian command and control center will be destroyed. Destroying the missiles and the nuclear capabilities are nice, but killing those who would use them is even nicer. I made the case for this strategy at this article.

    Enjoy!!
