Progress: No. Condi Rice will fly out to Jerusalem, gather the knaves from the Israeli government around her, and she will then berate them because a Jew added a shed to his settlement in “East” Jerusalem and has thereby created a great provocation against the noble Palestinian nation.

This is cease-fire/truce/hudna number what?? I think I lost count around the 27th truce, some time back.

Has anyone else been keeping count? I think 50 would be a TKO, right?

I’m just waiting for Condi Rice to whip out the “Road-Kill Map” once more and pretend that it’s a serious document. She really loves that piece of paper.

Everyone knows how this will go:

In the next few weeks or months, Hamas-backed terrorists will launch rockets or suicide bomb attacks against Israel, Israel will eventually retaliate against those responsible, and the Palestinians and their allies will all point and claim that Israel broke the cease fire.

That’s the way it always happens, and that’s how it’ll happen again.

How bout this for one last ‘peace’ deal.

We’ll call it the ceasefire to end all cease fires.

Two parties: Hamas and Israel. We start a cease fire.

First to shoot gets their nation paved and their population evicted.

The native population has the option of voting out their government to prevent this if it comes to it.

The most important part of this equation has been left out or forgotten by most Israelis and our government. Both those favoring the ceasefire, and those who believe that it is a mistake, both those who have faith that the ceasefire will last and those who believe that it cannot, and that part of the equation is the new master of Gaza, and the region, the Iranians.
Iran is now the major supplier of arms, military equipment, and money to Gaza just like in South Lebanon with Hizballah.
Iranian military experts are training the Gaza terrorists and their civilian human shields into becoming a real army just as they trained Hizballah into becoming one.
Iran is undermining what remains of the PLO government in Judea and Samaria, the West Bank, that is,and will certainly overthrow Abbas and his cronies very soon.
Finally Iran is working hand in glove with Syria’s military to prepare for their expected attack on Israel.
Thus Israel is slowly but surely being entirely surrounded by Iranian proxies and with the ceasefire allowing those proxies to arm, train, equip, and reinforce their defensive and offensive positions.
Iran of course is working day and night to arm itself with nuclear ballistic missiles so as to be able to finish off Israel after it orders it’s Hizballah, Hamas, and Syrian proxies to attack us.
Thus I conclude that this ceasefire will last for quite some time. Indeed, the ceasefire will continue up to the moment that the Iranians believe that their various military proxies, Gaza Hamas, Hizballah, Syria, West Bank Hamas, and themselves are ready to attack and destroy Israel.
At that point, all I can say is God help us!

The longer it lasts the worse off Israel will be. The only reason Hamas will adhere to it is to fortify and rebuild and get ready for a serious attack. This time there will be downed Israeli aircraft and large casualties on the Israeli side. To Hamas the Palestinian civil population is merely ammo.

Only Israel is forced to supply food and electricity to the people who want them dead. The Gaza problem could be ended in a couple of weeks by a total blockade of everything. Let the Palestinian civilians get off their butts and curtail the violence if they want food and water.

The current Israeli government, having lost the 2006 war, is like a deer in the headlights and haven’t a clue what to do. The Bush administration, for what ever reason is pushing this insanity on Israel.

The day of reckoning will be brutal and ugly. Perhaps if Israel suffers mass casualties the world might let it defend itself.

Hopefully, Israel uses its time productively — perhaps by ranging its artillery to hit every Hamas asset in Gaza after the next rocket attack.

At this point it’s hard to believe that a war in Gaza is “inevitable.” Olmert and Barak have stepped back from taking that step every time. What seems inevitable is that without a coherent plan to stop them, Hamas will get stronger and stronger, probably knocking off Fatah at some point. There’s no evidence that the govt has a coherent plan to thwart Hamas.
