The metaphors for university students is now becoming so mixed that we might need the help of an ‘almost’ university English professor like Mary Grabar (you know – the kind of prof that can’t get a full time job) to straighten this all out. Mary, perhaps you can tutor your charges here about how to reconcile the images of university students as prisoners, and asylum inmates with the reality that university students have more freedom, and freedom of expression than the occupants of almost any other institution in society.
