Illinois Democratic Rep. Danny K. Davis told PJ Media that there should have been a “reporting chain” that alerted President Obama of the IRS singling out conservative organizations seeking tax-exempt status, likening the scandal to the Bible.

“The efforts to somehow or another link this to higher-ups in the administration just has not come through and I think one of the reasons that it ended up being the way that it is is that these guys weren’t talking to anybody else. They weren’t relating to anybody else,” said Davis, a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

“They weren’t even reporting to the deputy in Treasury who was their direct link to upper management. They acted as if they were an agency unto themselves and had no reporting responsibility and I think that’s where they got themselves in trouble.”

Davis then related the controversy to the Parable of Talents in the Bible.

“It’s kind of like the guys in the Bible that was given talents and money to oversee. One guy got two, one got five and one got one and the fellow with the one went and hid it,” he said.

“The fellow with two did a little stuff but the fellow who had the most actually went and multiplied and if you’re a good manager and you’ve got a question that you’re not sure about, you go to the next person and I don’t think they were doing that.”

Davis also said the scandal does not compare to Watergate.

“I don’t think it’s anything similar to that. I mean, Watergate was an orchestrated move linked to the absolute highers-up in the Republican Party at the time and that’s not what this is,” Davis told PJ Media.

“This is an agency who pretty much isolated itself and made some decisions. There’s been no link to the White House. The president didn’t know anything about it. Hell, his deputy treasurer didn’t even know about it until it was revealed and they were briefed ultimately by the inspector general. So, no, I don’t think there’s any comparison.”

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney recently said President Obama “believes it’s entirely appropriate that some matters are not appropriate to convey to him and this is one of them.”

PJ Media asked Davis if he thinks the issue was important enough to relay to the president.

“Oh yeah. I think there should have been a reporting chain,” said Davis.

“I get upset when I find out things that my staff knew that I also needed to know and they didn’t tell me and so that upsets me to no end so I’m sure the president was dumbfounded. ‘Hey, you know, this stuff has been going on and we don’t know anything about it?’”

O: I’m shocked, shocked to find targeted IRS investigations going on here!

Jarrett: Your election victory, sir.

O: Oh, thank you very much.

I would posit that it's more akin to the Old Testament account of Moses confronting Aaron about the Golden Calf Worship and Orgy Party going on.

Yo, Aaron? 'Sup with all this, bro?

Well, you see, it was the PEOPLE's fault, THEY wanted it. Besides all of that gold just sort of formed itself into that golden calf you see there. It wasn't my fault, I had nothing to do with it, and I don't know how in the world it happened until I read about it in this morning's issue of the Wilderness Papyrus.

"I’m sure the president was dumbfounded," Rep. Danny Davis said.
======================

Yeah - dumbfounded - that his lapdog MSM would ever report on this scandal. As for being 'dumbfounded' for the reasons you outline - ha! The Obama administration - AKA 'The Campaign' - probably thought this up in some midnight brainstorming session as a means of voter suppression on the conservative side. It certainly was a successful effort to suppress conservative 'get out the vote' organizations. Not many of them had the money to operate without that tax exempt status for long.

I'm a patient man though - lets get the special prosecutor up and running and see where all this leads.

I'd be dumbfounded if it didn't lead right to 'The Campaign' - AKA the Obama administration. This style of voter suppression is right up their ally. Its what 'community organizers' do - isn't it?

"It's not like Watergate?" Obviously he doesn't know what Watergate was about. All he knows is that it involved corruption and Republicans.

"Watergate" was about a burglary of DNC offices in the Watergate office complex that was carried out of a small group of people working for the Nixon campaign. It was not ordered or even known about by President Nixon or the White House until the burglars were arrested.

The scandal was that when it did become known to them, they opted to cover it up.

Which gave rise to the saying about it not being the crime that was the problem but the coverup.

So as far as the scandals at the IRS and State Dept go....it is not the crime (if it even is a crime) but it most certainly is the coverup.

And that makes it like Watergate

Wow. He quotes paraphrases mentions a Bible passage. He must be a good guy and all he is saying must be true. I'm a Conservative so I'm gullible that way.

Give me a break.

In the ancient world, a talent was a measurement of gold or silver. Over the centuries and in various countries its value changed somewhat. One talents was usually about 20 to 70 pounds (8-32 kg) of gold or silver.

I just love it when democrats try and quote the Bible and inevitably fail. Democrats think that gun magazines are one-use only, the IRS is just like one of Jesus' parables, and they think that islands can capsize. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. You can't fix stupid.

Take a real look at the IRS deal and understand the issues.
ObamaCare is the issue and the money earned from managing ObamaCare is very significant to the IRS.
The IRS is a private Corporation registered in Delaware and like all corporations has owners.
These people were already informed by Obama, in his first term, that they are the implementation arm of ObamaCare. This is millioins of dollars to this private corporation which is already under contract to the U.S. Treasury and now it will be in charge of another part of the government. We are speaking of a 'big fu*king deal' in the words of the Vice President.
Now comes the new election and if Obama does not win and Romney is elected instead, and Romney dumps ObamaCare as it should be dumped. Now the IRS loses this great 'big fu*king deal'.
Hmmm, do you think that there were some conversations between the administration and the IRS, maybe some strategy sessions to make sure that Obama is re-elected so the apple cart keeps providing the apples to the right people? Or am I just too suspiciious of crooked Chicago Pols?
Wake up people, the IRS were told to go after all of those people who were against Obama in the election or they sure as h*ll would not get the ObamaCare Contract.... This is Chicago Politics.....
In order to get to the bottom of this sea of slime we must immunize all witnesses from prosecution as long as they tell the truth. If we do not make deals with those who know the game, then we will never arrive to the truth of the matter, and maybe we will have even give them witness protection for the rest of their lives. This, as the VP said is a 'Big Fu*king Deal' and it is going to take some work to get through it.
Benghazi is the same Obama story, and you can bet that it was a Sham Kidnapping to trade Stevens for the Blind Shiek and it all went to h*ll when the exSeals refused to 'Stand Down'.
Let the investigation begin and understand that we are working with thieves who have been on the government teat for the last 100 years. I am talking about the Federal Reserve System and the IRS, both are Closed Privately owned Corporation and both are owned by lying crooked thieves.....
In fact our entire government is under the thumb of these two corporations, think about it. All of this was put in place by Senator Nelson Aldrich and the Rockefeller Clan with backing from Rothschild..... Wake up America, you are bing gamed.....

This guy will not overtly go against Obama after all he is from Illinois and the machine has power and he knows it. He uses the bible (a book a lot in the Democrat party regulary trashes) to try to provide cover for Obama - He, like Obama, worship government and believe that people should be allowed only the freedom that allows government to accomplish its purpose - and that purpose shifts and moves depending on the whims of those in power (typical fascists). The only reason people like this guy will desert Obama is if Obama begins to damage the dream of a liberal fascist america - if obama damages that goal through incompetence- the liberal fascist press and liberal fascist party (democrats even those from Illinois) will turn on Obama - that could be fun

Rep. Danny Davis' official opinion is that the IRS is a rogue agency acting on its own without supervision in ways that hurt the public: “This is an agency who pretty much isolated itself and made some decisions." And this is the agency he wants running Obamacare and accessing our health records?

and we give Ms. Lerner paid leave, when at minimum she should be furloughed without pay, and optimally she should be perp walked to the Big House for a slew of abuse of power.

Holly crap I don't think even HE believes what he's saying. God Lord what has happened to this country. We can't even agree on a subject that should be glaringly bipartisan - But still they play the "Cover ovomits Ass" game. I truly hope his are among the items that were stolen illegally by the administration. Or better yet - his parents and wife's parents, their children and their donors. Then let me hear his comments.

It's quite obvious, to me at least, that Danny Davis is either lying through his teeth, or he has about as much understanding into the workings of this administration as he does about Biblical parables.

And let us not forget that he, too, is a product of the Chicago political machine.
