How to Stop the Ground Zero Mega-Mosque
On May 25, Manhattan Community Board 1 gave their nod of approval to construction of a highly contested, 15-story mega-mosque at the former Park Place Burlington Coat Factory — 600 feet from Ground Zero.
But this is hardly a final word on the matter.
New York City community boards function as mere advisory bodies, with no authority to make legally binding decisions for or against any proposed New York City structure. And while a motion to postpone the vote was defeated, the approval hardly represented resounding community support: only one board member voted no, but ten members abstained.
Nevertheless, the matter concerns far more than New York City planning, zoning, or community board politics. Following jihad doctrine, 19 Muslims attacked the U.S., as a nation, on 9/11. They attacked all nations whose citizens were among the nearly 3,000 murdered. Not surprisingly, the Muslim Gulf states are carefully watching the debate.
Obviously, this matter is no less Earth-shattering to Americans than the erstwhile plans of President Obama to conduct Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s trial in a New York City federal civilian court. The nation spoke in a unified voice against that plan, and stopped it cold. The nation, with a unified voice, can stop construction of any mosque near Ground Zero as well.
Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, in planning for this 15-story mosque, casts a gauntlet to America — the center of the war against radical Islam.
In 2004, this man assumed trusteeship of land at 96th Street and 3rd Avenue near New York’s Islamic Cultural Center (ICC). Rauf is also an ICC permanent trustee. Until Sept. 28, 2001, the ICC employed Imam Sheik Muhammad Gemeaha, an Al-Azhar University envoy to the U.S. One week later, from the “safety” of Egypt, Gemeaha said “only the Jews” could have perpetrated September 11. If Americans knew, “they would have done to Jews what Hitler did.” Allah says Jews “disseminate corruption in the land” and spread “heresy, homosexuality, alcoholism, and drugs,” he added.
Gemeaha’s successor at ICC was no better: Omar Saleem Abu-Namous saw no “conclusive evidence” proving Muslims responsible.
These pronouncements represent institutional discriminatory precepts embedded within Sharia law. Rauf’s associates, who operated under his trusteeship at the 96th Street mosque, uttered them, and not surprisingly, they mirrored Rauf’s own hateful post-9/11 comments.
In March, Rauf stated in Arabic: “I don’t believe in interfaith dialogue.”
On May 26, Rauf gave an interview to Sa’da Abdul Maksoud on the well-trafficked Hadiyul-Islam website:
Throughout my discussions with contemporary Muslim theologians, it is clear an Islamic state can be established in more than just a single form or mold. It can be established through a kingdom or a democracy. The important issue is to establish the general fundamentals of Sharia that are required to govern.
Rauf’s statements in Arabic directly contradicted his statements to English speakers — i.e., that the U.S. Constitution is Sharia-compliant:
New laws were permitted after the death of Muhammad, so long of course that these laws do not contradict the Quran or the Deeds of Muhammad … so they create institutions that assure no conflicts with Sharia.
Consider the relevance of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood membership of Rauf’s father alongside Rauf’s own deceptive behavior and speech. In 1965, Muhammed Abdul Rauf (1917-2004) bought two-thirds of the bloc at 96th Street and 3rd Avenue with $1.3 million in funding from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Libya. Rauf withheld information on the Islamic donors until 1984. Only after wrangling for permits for 20 years did Rauf begin construction — at that point, funding sources no longer mattered as construction became a fait accompli. Similarly, upon the 1992 dedication of the 96th Street mosque, founders revealed its $17 million in financing from 46 Islamic nations, all members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). Another fait accompli, including plans for an apartment building restricted to Muslims alone. By 2010, the enormous Islamic complex had added two more buildings.
Saudi Arabia founded the OIC in 1969 to promote the “struggle for Islam,” and has been its chief sponsor since. The OIC’s charter includes all Muslim Brotherhood precepts, the foremost being to spread Sharia worldwide. With headquarters in Jedda “pending the liberation of Jerusalem,” the OIC in 1973 established the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) “according to Islamic Sharia principles,” and through it, launched the petrodollar-based Islamic financing market as another way to stealthily spread Islam and Sharia worldwide.
“[A]n Islamic organization must serve God … and ultimately sustain … the growth and advancement of the Islamic way of life,” writes Nasser M. Suleiman in “Corporate Governance in Islamic Banking.” Certainly the 46 OIC members had those Sharia principles in mind when they funded construction of New York’s Islamic Center.
Secrecy surrounding the land purchase and construction financing of the 96th Street mega-mosque emulate the teachings of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hasan al-Banna, a colleague of Rauf’s father, who taught Al Azhar University — Islam’s closest equivalent to the Vatican. Rauf fled Egypt’s 1948 crackdown on the MB. His eldest son Feisal was born in Kuwait that year.
MB doctrines require “flexibility” — adapting to each environment on local terms, especially in North America — to force Islamic law on the masses globally. Hiding financing sources are perfect examples of taqiyya, a theologically encouraged practice of deception to advance theocratic, fascist Islamic doctrines.
Like his father, Rauf is probably a stealth Muslim Brother, as are most MB members.
The Muslim Brotherhood founded virtually all Islamic terror organizations operating worldwide today, including al-Qaeda and Hamas. Thus, only propaganda and recruitment chiefs like Alabama-born Omar Hammami — and shills hoping to convince useful idiots the Brothers are genuinely peaceful — advertise their affiliation.
Rauf established ASMA’s Cordoba Initiative in Colorado in 2004, but registered the non-profit in New York only in April 2009. His financial statements look mysterious, too. A Cordoba Initiative project, since at least 2006, has partnered with the Gallup Organization and “a team of Sunni and Shi’a scholars from Morocco to Indonesia” to create “an Islamic legal benchmark for measuring ‘Islamicity’ of a state,” available both publicly and to pundits “and state officials in both the Muslim and Western worlds.”
If the U.S. is Sharia-compliant, and Rauf supports Western democracy and mosque-state separation, why has his New York-based institution initiated this project, funded by Malaysia and many other Muslim nations in the OIC?
Malaysia is not a secular democracy. Its federal government maintains a Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM) charged with promoting “the development and advancement of Islamic affairs,” including formulation of “policies for the ADVANCEMENT of Islamic affairs in the country and to safeguard the sanctity of the aqidah and the teachings of Islam.” (Emphasis in original.)
Rauf may well get Saudi funding too: In February 2001, the IDB established its U.S. dollar-denominated Awqaf Properties Investment Fund (APIF) to “develop and invest in accordance with … Islamic Sharia [principles], in Awqaf real estate properties … in [IDB] member countries … and Islamic communities in non-member countries.” Financing applications go — where else? — to OIC founder and chief IDB backer Saudi Arabia, which has worked tirelessly for decades to advance Islamic communities in the most influential non-Muslim nation, the U.S.
OIC countries financed the 96th Street mosque. Why would Rauf not approach them again, particularly since an IDB financing mechanism for projects like his is already in place?
At Tuesday’s meeting, a 9/11 survivor, along with relatives, parents, and dear friends of victims, all spoke eloquently against the mosque. Bereaved mother Cynthia Kane honored her son, firefighter George Kane, and his hundreds of brave colleagues who died fighting to save lives. Another victim’s father poignantly noted that bodily remains of 997 people are still missing. “Where the hell do you think they are? They are on that [holy] ground … and building a mosque over them is truly insensitive.” 9/11 Families leader Debra Burlingame professed happiness that the controversy might encourage Americans to finally ask: “What is Sharia?”
The best route to stopping construction may be through the U.S. Department of the Treasury and Internal Revenue Service. According to a Certified Public Accountant and Act for America member, available American Society for Muslim Advancement (ASMA) tax filings raise several red flags.
Very little ASMA information is available on the non-profit organization from Guidestar, a commercial service that provides 990 filings from thousands of tax-exempt charitable organizations, many much smaller than ASMA. However, the CPA reports that many documents required for public examination are missing from Guidestar’s ASMA files. Federal law requires ASMA to provide tax returns for public inspection, but evidently it has not done so, the CPA says.
Director since 2005, Daisy Kahn — Rauf’s interior designing, Kashmir-born wife — apparently never filed a required informational return or regular annual reports: “shocking for a charity with over $1 million in grants just last year.”
Several other issues indicate ASMA’s financial statements are not “in accordance with accounting standards for nonprofit organizations.” An organization established in 1998 should have two-year comparisons, not the one-year comparison provided in the fiscal 2009 statement. Failing that, ASMA must provide comparative statements in its notes or a letter to stakeholders — which it also does not do.
Likewise, ASMA claims to be a 501(c)3 organization. They do present a letter of determination (albeit, misstated as being granted in “1988”). But ASMA financial statements do not specify under which code ASMA’s tax-exempt status falls.
ASMA also fails to list required future lease payments, although its auditor reportedly specializes in non-profit groups and purports to follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). “I’m shocked by all these” oversights, said the CPA, who has merely begun to list GAAP requirements on which ASMA flunks.
Maybe there’s just too much information Rauf and ASMA don’t want the public to know. Perhaps the IRS should institute a new taqiyya-busters division. Meanwhile, the public can shower the IRS with complaints on these evidently numerous tax-code violations.

We should take the high ground by constructing the Trade Center II. Simply put, dwarf their puny mosque.
I just got this email from NY “Mayor” bloomberg. I’m appalled by the nature of his defiance, absurd, ridicules, and non compliant explanation he rams down the American people throats. If America is to be tolerant of Muslims, and the building of a “mosque community center” wherever Muslim choose.
(1) Why then send our young man and woman half way around the world “mind you only to Muslim countries” to die for our freedom?
(2) If as you say “peaceful” remember that community center in London which inside was all peaceful but once you stepped outside, the radicals were waiting to entice you to join them and cause mayhem, the answer of the Imam was that he had no control of what was occurring outside his place of worship.
(3) And please do not forget that all peaceful Imam that warned and collaborated with the bridge bomber from NJ to NY.
(4) and that so religious, peaceful and trustworthy Psychiatrist in OUR military that killed so many of our young men and women in the name of Islam.
This “Mosque community center” is an enticement, cover up, in your face!! Calling for tolerance and rapprochement.

Wait until it’s built and a few thousand innocent people are praying in the early morning. Take 2 planes and crash them into the mosque. Hold a vigil on the sight of the rubble afterwards and have the President call for tolerance against those white people who bombed the mosque. After enough time goes by, say 10 years and people start to forget, build a large church on the grounds of the former mosque. Sound familiar?
As long as the rich people(, the Clintons, Kerrys, Obamas, Spielbergs etc) run America the Muslims will be given a free hand to do whatever they want to. Once the Waqf is established (waqf: an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic law, typically denoting a building or plot of land for Muslim religious or charitable purposes) it is a permanent embassy for the Islamic Ummah. As such, it can never be demolished, moved or closed down.

Throughout history, Muslims have built Mosques on the ruins of the destroyed holy places of the conquered.
Cordoba symbolizes Islamic conquest of Spain — the “al Andaluz” “return to Islamic dominance” which Bin Laden longs for.
The fondest “dream” that the 9-11 Terrorists Murdered and committed suicide for was to see a Mosque built over the towers.

what if it was someone trying to build the mosque who has no ties to any extremism etc.. would you still object the mosque being built?
I can’t speak for Ms. Lappan, but in” normal times” I would have no objection to a Mosque in NYC. Tell me, would you and “normal Muslims” have an objection to a Cathedral or Synagogue in Mecca? Madina? Qom? And how long do you think a Cathedral or Synagogue and its congregations would survive currently? A month? A year? Maybe never?
The answer is simple: a loving Muslim would never suggest to build a mosque on top of ground zero.
Dear Ms Rove It is a matter of sensitivity and not an insult to moderate muslims(those who know that no one knows when it comes to the creator). Would it be tasteful to build a mausoleum for J W Boothe next to Lincoln’s Memorial or a monument for Hitler next to a synagoge? As this issue goes forward everyone who is clueless about the true nature of Islam [that would be most of our citizens] will naturally start spouting off about the 1st Amendment and its clause about making no laws prohibiting the free excercise of religion. Muslim groups will certainly latch on to this as their head-spinning arrogance knows no bounds. Nobody is trying to prohibit Muslims from practicing their religion, after all there are numerous Mosques all over NYC and surrounding communities. My understanding is that this building has already been used for Muslim services from time to time and there has been no outcry about it. This is not about a Mosque per se, it is about constructing an imposing monument to Islam in a place specifically chosen to cause maximum anguish amongst the infidels.
I’m Muslim, and was in NYC 09/11/2001. I know Sheikh Faisal. He is a good man. He’s lead a Masjid(Mosque for non arabic speakers) in the Tribecca area for over 20 years. I’m also an american citizen by birth. So that makes me Muslim-American. George Clinton penned lyrics to a song that say “Free your mind, and your @ss will follow”. Most do not understand the structure of The Holy Qur’an, thus, they’re in no position to interpret the translation they’re reading. So they’ll pick insightful verses taken out of context. It seems to me that, as per most of the comments posted, holding 1 billion Muslims(worldwide) responsible for the actions of a few misguided individuals, is not what the framers of this country had in mind. If anyone involved in building the new Islamic center had or has ties with the authors of 9/11, I’m sure this project would have been halted in its tracks, long ago. This is pure prejudice and hatred. Like the Sheikh, I condemn terrorism. There is no Islamic sanction for it and I challenge anyone to say there is. It is a known fact, the majority of us(Muslims) do not subscribe to this school of thought. As for those who are concerned about what goes on in other countries, let them handle their affairs. If you guys are so peace loving how about letting us build a Christian church in one of your countries? And don’t BS me – even having a Bible in most muslim countries is a crime – a church would be a great offense. Get the idea?

It is an indisputable fact that Islam institutionalizes discrimination against women and non-Muslims, effectively puts an end to freedom of speech and freedom of conscience, and ensures perpetual warfare amongst mankind. Why does New York City hate America?
It’s difficult to determine which is the worst advice: the article, which advocates siccing the IRS on the ASMA for tax irregularities, Calatrava’s “a loving Muslim would never suggest to build a mosque on top of ground zero,” or the illiteracy of jimilmuslim, and his “It is a known fact, the majority of us(Muslims) do not subscribe to this school of thought” (violent jihad).
Rauf and his cohorts should be indicted for at least being associated with the Muslim Brotherhood, just as any gangster’s small fry button men were convicted of capital crimes. You won’t get any cooperation, however, from the Treasury Department, because it’s headed by Timothy Geithner, a tax-evading pal of Barack Obama, who “reaches out” to our enemies, the Muslim “street.”
Perhaps Calatrava was speaking tongue-in-cheek, but I know of no “loving Muslims” who would make such a suggestion. Rank-and-file Muslims keep their mouths shut, lest they be punished by their Muslim brothers. It’s in the creed.

Every time I see a photo of hundreds of Muslims bowing to Mecca, it’s an invitation to kick ass (literally) shouting, “It’s a rock, you damned fools! And you’re bowing in submission to a barbarian who’d just as soon kill you as any infidel if you looked at him the wrong way! Then again, you wouldn’t know what he looks like, would you?”

If the people of NYC allow this blasphemous act it’s nothing short of a slap in the face to those 3,000 Americans who died that terrible day, if allowed to proceed I will have lost all respect for anyone who lives there and doesn’t protest loudly. Back to the topic . . . There used to be Federal laws saying that foreign agents and their representatives needed to be registered with the Feds as such. I’ve read this argument many times, this cliché, tantamount to: oh, the Koran is so deeply mystical you, a westerner, could never ever “get it”, especially if you can’t read it in the original Arabic.
The Koran is, in fact, something of an admixture, allegedly of Mohammed’s early impartations from Mecca (more “spiritual” in tone) and later impartations after Mohammed had fled to Medina (more practical in tone).
It is said to have been written down/structured/organized (the order of Sura) some 150 to 200 years after Mohammed’s death. Mohammed neither read nor wrote.
The body of shari’a and hadith have been elaborated over the centuries, by Islam’s “holy men”.
Mohammed himself, as I recall, set forth that understanding was directly between the worshipper and Allah, no holy men necessary.
For the record, I consider it to be child abuse that children in madrassas are forced to memorize the Koran in Arabic to the detriment of modern texts and knowledge, especially in madrassas, for example, in Pakistan where the children don’t even speak Arabic.
Consider the relevance of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood membership of Rauf’s father alongside Rauf’s own deceptive behavior and speech.

This is a rediculous discussion. Point blank this Mosque should not be allowed. Glenn Beck and the Monster Mosque at Ground Zero
I recently heard Glenn Beck defend the building of that Islamic Monster Mosque, that Mega-Mosque at the site of the former World Trade Center in downtown New York City.
His defense of that project is predicated on his conviction that no government in our democratic republic should have the right to prohibit any religious entity in America from building a church, temple, or mosque nor to prohibit the free exercise of any religion anywhere on our soil: http://tiny.cc/vvm19
Beck was defending the First Amendment to the Constitution which reads, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
The left has twisted the meaning and intent of the ”establishment clause” for years now and the Supreme Court has concurred that it means a strict separation of church and state even though those words never appear in the Constitution and in spite of the essential Christian religiousness of the Founding Fathers.
That brings us back to Glenn Beck and his defense of the planned Monster Mosque within spitting distance of the remains of the WTC. Not coincidentally, the 13-story ”Cordoba House” is scheduled to open on Park Place on the eleventh anniversary 0f the 9/11 attacks, September 11th, 2011.

The tenor of this blog goes to show that religion is the bane of humanity. We would all be better off if everyone just relied on and used their own intelligence to determine how to conduct themselves among others. I still contend that Islam is the worst of the lot and is a metaphysical cancer in the ranks of humanity. Quotes from Islamic religious texts demonstrate that the pathway to peace is not achieved through its theological ramblings. Pope Benedict was correct and should not have apologized. It is very, very naive to think that Islam is benign.
Let’s try a little freedom of speech and see how long it is permitted to posted for all to see. Mohammed is a dog copulating pedophile and Allah is a pig. For that I should die, mere words. Okay, so Muslims are offended, so what? From their viewpoint they should be, but it does not warrant taking a life. By design Allah gave us a free will. Muslims demand that our free will be stripped from us by their religious police, e.g., the Revolutionary Guard. This is in violation of Allah’s design and is a sin of pride by placing themselves above the wishes of Allah that we have a free will. Islam is so irrational that only someone duped since childhood could subscribe to it, or someone threatened with being murdered unless they submit. It cannot compete in an open market of ideas, that is why it is so prone to terrorism. It is the only way that it can survive. It cannot stand on its own merits, it has none.
All of the posts that itemize why Islam is dangerous and hypocritical have very valid observations. I see none of the Muslims acknowledging that these concerns have merit and are real. I have not seen any offer to grant those building permits for churches and synagogues in Mecca and Medina. All that I hear from Muslims is, trust us and we are peaceful, while the historical record is very much to the contrary. Of course, if you are Muslim you do not feel threatened by Islam because you are not a target. All you have to do is keep quiet and let the terrorists do your dirty work of converting the world by sword and blood letting. At this rate there will be no meeting of minds and we will be engaged in a war for many of years to come. Either the rule of reason will eventually win or the tyranny of Islam will prevail, no middle ground. Islam is inviting a terrible reckoning that, I believe, will lead to a nuclear war. Iran, Al Qaieda, or Pakistan will be the first to use nukes and then all bets are off on the fury that will fall on the world of Islam. However, Muslims are comfortable with their bigoted practices and will continue with their game plan of world hegemony. Americans are getting tired Islam’s dictatorship in the countries they rule and the lack of human rights. Islam, your day is coming and it will not be pretty. It is too bad Muslims are such a flock of dumb sheep incapable of thinking for themselves. Many good people among them will be led to the slaughter by their radical imams, ayatollahs, and foolish fatwahs that they blindly follow without challenge.
Do a reality check. Muslims will be swept aside by their own internal forces of evil and will suffer the a fate of mass die off when the Islamic radicals push the world over the edge and into the abyss. In the world’s history there has never been a lack for another Hitler to lead this or that faction into total conflict. This time, those crazy people that write that sort of history are coming out of the Islamic world. Mankind never learns its lessons and religious texts are often the justification used for violence. Religion is used as a cover because the followers are instructed that the “word” cannot be questioned, it comes directly from God, Allah, Yaweh, Baal, etc. In truth all religious writings are the invention of men who wish to control and manipulate innocent people to their own political ends. Sorry, but that is the truth and any good people that adhere to Islam are merely pawns to put lipstick and that pig.
In the meantime, let’s make sure that the ground zero mosque is never built. Its construction would send all the wrong messages to the Muslim world and will only embolden them to commit ever more egregious atrocities.
