A gruesome story via LifeSite News:

The British Columbia Health Ministry has admitted that the remains of babies destroyed by abortion in B.C. facilities are ending up in a waste-to-power facility in the United States, providing electricity for residents of Oregon.

The province’s Health Ministry said in an email to the B.C. Catholic that “biomedical waste” shipped to the U.S. to be incinerated includes “human tissue, such as surgically removed cancerous tissue, amputated limbs, and fetal tissue.”

“The ministry understands that some is transferred to Oregon. There it is incinerated in a waste-to-energy plant,” the email stated.

The ministry said that contractors handling the province’s “biomedical waste” follow “health and safety protocols, as well as federal, provincial, and local regulations.”

Kristan Mitchell, executive director of the Oregon Refuse and Recycling Association, told the B.C. Catholic that the “biomedical waste” likely ends up at the Covanta Marion waste-to-energy facility in Oregon since it is the only facility that uses waste to power the grid. The facility confirmed that it still receives and incinerates B.C. medical waste.

The Marion County commissioner says that the board has ordered a stop to the burning of human tissue, including aborted fetuses. He added:

“We provide an important service to the people of this state and it would be a travesty if this program is jeopardized due to this finding,” he said in a statement. “We thought our ordinance excluded this type of material at the waste-to-energy facility. We will take immediate action to ensure a process is developed to prohibit human tissue from future deliveries.”

Might there be other companies that ship aborted fetuses to other waste-recycling plants in the US to generate electricity? Why not? It apparently is perfectly legal.

And that’s today’s Hot Topic. Should it be illegal in the U.S. to burn aborted fetuses to generate electricity?

This is where atheism fails. Without preexisting ethical standards, decisions can be made for expediency. There are no bad feelings because burning fetuses/babies/Jews is not morally wrong. It produces heat without fossil fuel (their explanation) so it's good for climate change. Net gain for the socialists.

It should not have to be illegal. The practice is so evil, so reprehensible, that no one should ever have to consider putting such a law on the books.

Anyone caught engaging or sanctioning such acts should be arrested for accessory to commit murder, and whatever charges can be brought against someone who defiles corpses. Any organization that participates in such an act should be shut down - their top officers charged with conspiracy and anything else connected to murder and desecration of corpses.

Any government that sanctions such a behavior is an enemy to these United States. They are an actor in state-sponsored terror. This is Saddam Hussein territory, and worse.

We've reached the nadir; liberals ban the burning of wood to heat our homes, but the burning of human fetuses to heat our homes proceeds according to their plans. Our society is run by monsters.

Our society permits one million abortions a year so this seems to be a natural progression. When we as a people rationalize the ending of one million lives, usually for the purpose of birth control truth be known, the desecration of fetuses for the purpose of fuel can be justified. Oregon acts shocked and appalled by this action, but are they really? Oregon also allows doctor assisted suicide for a variety of reasons that do not include life threatening disease. Life is becoming cheaper as the years go by and it's disgraceful.

The gift of life is so very precious and yet we allow it to be cheapened by a reading of the Constitution that would have our founders spinning in their graves. Abortions for any reason other than incest, rape, or a genuine threat to the mother's life is wrong. That's just my opinion, but I think a good many Americans feel the same way.

This is a little over the top but..
How long before women can get "energy credits" for having an abortion. Why not? It could be argued that it saves taxpayer dollars by not having to dispose of human life forms with any dignity whatsoever.

It's very straight forward. Since liberals don't believe life exists until intentional birth this is simply a renewable energy source to them. They are taking an idea the nazis had and are improving on it, that's why they are "progressive".

This must create a cognitive dissonance headache on the Left of massive proportions.

There is no reason why there is any problem burning dead babies, if the value of life is a relative judgement. If it saves money, or sequesters carbon, or some other motive completely divorced from the intangible, or ETHICAL VALUE of life, then what is the problem? You don't expect the Left to change their stand on abortion because of some ETHICAL nonsense about the value of life, do you?

This is exactly the death panel ethical dead end that Sarah Palin talked about, and which is embedded into every fold and crevice of Obamacare. How can there be an over-riding intrinsic value to life once religion has been pushed from the public square, and the only metrics are efficiency and money? There is simply no pricipled reason to worry about incinerating human biomass without undermining major parts of the Left agenda.

I think the analogy to Auschwitz is absolutely horrifying, but that is where totalitarianism leads, and America is heading towards totalitarianism.

Once upon a time this would have been a no brainer.
Once upon a time it was taken as a given that you treated all human remains with respect no matter their race, sex, age, or the status of their development. There is nothing inherently wrong with cremation. Nor is there anything inherently wrong with generating power from those remains.
There is however something very very wrong with doing that without the consent of the deceased or their next of kin. Without that consent a grave wrong is being done and a total lack of respect for humanity is being shown.

The fact that this is even a question reveals the depths to which we as a nation have sunk. Worse: the fact that, while stomach-turning, it is completely unsurprising coming from Oregon.

The best comment I saw on this was made by a British MP:

"I thought the Allies BEAT the Nazis."

Pretty soon we will have to decide what to do with the "biomedical waste" in DC. I have my own ideas, but we are certainly open to any suggestions.

In the final analysis how should one dispose of anything dead ?Nature would recycle tissue by having it consumed as food(energy)by some organism. In the end the flesh would return to the elements. Not allowing the remains to be recycled in an acceptable manner certainly goes against the natural order of nature.

Charlie--this is not just "anything dead." These are systematically butchered
human infants, made in the Image of God and carrying with them (as do we) a dignity that is intrinsic to them and not determined by men. You don't treat human beings like yard waste, and to do so is an abomination.

This is all kinds of wrong. Destroy their dignity by calling them a mass of tissue and having them killed, then take their bodies and dispose of them like last week's used trash. God, have mercy on us!
