Homeland Security Alert: Somali Terrorist on the Loose in Texas?

The al-Shabaab operative, who may be part of a group of 270 Somalis who entered the country illegally via Mexico, should become part of the discussion over immigration enforcement.

Last week, the Department of Homeland Security warned Houston law enforcement that a Somali terrorist named Mohamed Ali could be in their area. Ali is a member of al-Shabaab, the terrorist group currently fighting for control of Somalia. Al-Shabaab has proven to be frighteningly effective at recruiting Westerners, including Americans.

Al-Shabaab has pledged its allegiance to al-Qaeda and should be seen as branch of the organization. It is reinforced with arms and recruits from Yemen and is al-Qaeda’s best hope to score a battlefield victory and resurrect the safe haven it treasured prior to October 2001. If al-Shabaab succeeds in taking Somalia, it will be the first time that al-Qaeda controlled its own country. This affiliate’s networks in the U.S., Canada, and Europe provide the group with the capacity to launch attacks on our soil. It likely only chooses not to do so because of the fear that it would compromise the organization’s presence.

The alert says that Ali is thought to have arrived via Mexico. He is likely part of a group of hundreds of Somalis that have snuck in through the open borders. This information needs to be inserted into the debate over border security that is now raging because of Arizona’s bill to combat illegal immigration.

In February, the authorities arrested a man in Virginia named Anthony Joseph Tracy, who has admitted to having contact with al-Shabaab. Tracy is believed to have smuggled 270 Somalis into the U.S. through Mexico. Let me say it again: An associate of al-Shabaab has snuck in nearly 300 Somalis from where they operate into the country. They remain here and we don’t know what they are up to.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeanine Linehan admitted, “We have not identified anyone. We believe all the individuals are present in the United States. But by the virtue of [the] successful smuggling scheme, we are having difficulty finding them.”

Two weeks ago, a Somali in San Antonio named Ahmed Muhammed Dhakane was indicted for leading a “large-scale smuggling enterprise” that brought in hundreds of people from Brazil, including “several AIAI-affiliated Somalis,” in reference to al-Ittihad al-Islami, a radical Islamic group that is tied to al-Qaeda. The government has not stated if Dhakane is connected to Tracy.

Tracy and/or Dhakane are likely connected to another batch of Somalis that were arrested in Mexico in January on their way to the United States. The Mexican authorities arrested them for illegally being in the country, but released them on January 21 after only 16 were identified. One of those was Mohamed Osman Noor, who is believed to be an al-Shabaab operative.

Why not pay the narcos to do away with these guys or have bounties? The various syndicates were used by the U.S. to attack Mussolini in WWII, and I’m sure the Mexican narcos dont want to risk of: 1)having their current and potetial customers mad as heck (or not taking the junk b/c they now live in a caliphate), or 2) having Islamic/Asiatic trafficking networks bypassing Central America. Instigate a feud between the islamists and the narcos if need be…way way south in Mexico, though.

The Somalis were smart and/or lucky to have passed through Texas though…wouldnt they have been “greenlighted” if they went through Los Angeles?

    • MarkTheGreat

We shouldn’t even have to pay them. Just let them know that a major strike in the US, caused by someone who sneaked over the border, will cause the US to do everything in it’s power to finally, and completely shut down the border. It’s in their interest to keep the US from wanting to do this.

      • Geesi

Well. I have been following the news about the terrorists in Somalia. I wonder how and why Somalis who live in the other corner of world would sneak to USA through that long jorney in which they can risk their life. Besides, the huge money being used for sneaking to USA through rough and long journey, can fasilite for them other easuer way to come USA.

Looks like some Americans are gonna have to expire in order for the rest of US to see our muslim sympathizer president, the Dems and RINOs in congress REFUSE to do their constitutional duty and SECURE our darn BORDERS already!

    Excellent article. Well done.

  4. Somalis are notorious for not assimilating into this country. These are just a few examples:

It is not surprising that now Somali terrorists are trying to infiltrate this country through the nearly-open Mexican border. This problem has been brewing for years, yet only now does Homeland Security or the FBI think Somalis may pose a threat to this nation. If the Somalis living here really do want to be Americans, then they need to step up and help the authorities hunt down any possible terrorists. If they don’t, they should be deported immediately. If Somalis refuse to help us now when people’s lives could be in danger, then they are no better than the terrorists themselves. This really is a case of “you’re either with us or against us.”

I enjoyed the read, but just the tip of those who follow Mohammad with murder in their hearts for allah inside these United States.

    Check the Mosques!

You are racist for suggesting that we look at brown people. We should allow them to live without constrait. I does not matter if they may harm us in some manner, it only matters that we should not inconvience brown people or make them seem inferior. After all, the perception of racism trumps any other consideration.

  7. Thank you Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann and all others who think Americans are motivated by a singular love of ‘profiling’ like it’s a hobby. The next Somali I meet is going to be told MSNBC is an anti-Somali network and that Rhodes Scholars hate black folks.

David, your humor sounds like mine………..

  9. 9. Tresco

Somehow I don’t think he will get to far. We probably won’t ever know what happened. Somebody will shoot, shovel and shut up.

I teach high school and I have an “Islamic” Somali refugee in my class. Some things I have learned from her recently. Her father, when he was 6, was told to convert by Arabs or die. He at 6 converted, but they are not “muslim”. She wears a scarf at school so as not to be harrassed by the other girls for “not being muslim at school and away from her parents.” So, she doesn’t wear it out of school and in front of her parents that way they can’t run their mouths. She hates the Arabs that have high jacked her country ang loves this country for it’s freedoms. She openly hugs me each day on her way out, try that in Saudi land. She wants to be an Army nurse one day. Lastly, her most genuine, heartfelt statement to me one day when were alone in the room, “Always fight for what is right, because if you don’t they will come after you, so stand and fight and don’t be afraid.” She said the thugs are afraid of the Americans and prey on the weak. A true story–first hand for what it is worth.

Complete delusional garbage. There are no moderate muslims..only those who havent
yet switched on. With the right circumstances..ie lost job, percieived discrimination..etc and every muslim will remember his heritage and turn against
      America.

    • ehunter

Its the MultiCulturalism dispensed largely by the educational establishment
that has brought this catastrophe upon the USA. You got your feel good moments..the rest of us pay in blood for it.

      • Pragmatist

How right you are ehunter moonbats just dont get it they think that somewhere there is a mythical “Moderate” Islam but neither they nor any Mohammedan you care to ask can show this ‘Moderate’ Islam. There is just ISLAM.

Now there may be some Mohammedans who indeed are tolerant, moderate and are not misogynists and antisemites and do not have to constantly justify Mohammads paedophilia, theiving and murders and are not wanting to take over the world at all.
But it is THEY who are the MISUNDERSTANDERS of Islam.

The moonbats like Michael are too full of Politically Correct , Multi Culti , Islamophile nonsense to ever use their BRAINS when thinking about Islam they just operate on EMOTION and projection.

      • MarkTheGreat

Is someone who was forced to convert, really a Muslim?

        • Michael

Thanks Mark–that was the use of ” “. I don’t believe she is, just not old to do anything about it yet.

        • Al_Batross

“Is someone who was forced to convert, really a Muslim?”

No, not really. And they get the worst of both worlds, having to live as Muslims without being accepted as or respected as Muslims. That was the situation of the Janissary, who were both the Ottoman empire’s shock troops and it’s slaves, despite their childhood “conversion”. Janissary adherence to the Bektashi heresy may have been a form of deliberate protest at this inequality.

    DIVERSITY IS OUR STRENGTH!!

Bwahaahaaaaahaahaaaaa…..(insane laughter trails off into distance)

If they are terrorists and they are here to do harm to our wives our children, grandchildren,
we should be allowed to hunt them.

    3 a day bag limit, 6am-9pm.

I spent my last year of my career in law enforcement attached to the intel unit before I retired and turned my talents to writing (my first novel REVOLT http://www.revoltthebook.com) was published this year). Trust me, the terrorist are ALREADY HERE!

The math is simple. Iran to Venezuela to Cuba to Mexico to here. The fact we have not been hit it amazing to me and I wonder if GWB’s attitude of crushing any state sponsor had something to do with it. A good book to read about this playing out is Tom Clancy’s TEETH OF THE TIGER. Not his best work, but the plot line will be something you will read about shortly. Especially with toothless tiger in the white house.

why hasn’t FOX News reported on this since Feb 23 2010 ? Are they helping to hide something?
    http://liveshots.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/02/23/va-man-accused-of-illegally-aiding-somalis/
Try searching the FOX News site for “Anthony Joseph Tracy” or “Somalis enter USA illegally”
Feb 23 article only one I’ve found.

  15. I’m waiting for an al-shabab representative to be invited to congress to lecture us about this. I’m wondering who will stand up and clap then? (This is a rhetorical question and there is no need to answer. I know who will clap.)

  16. 16. jma

Excellent article and comments. Sadly, archer52′s note that the terrorists are already here rings so true. I’ve experienced conclaves of them all over the U.S. When I was working at a prestigious university in the ’90s, teams were coming in as professors and counselors to our diplomats, corporate heads and Congressional staff. They were highly educated, but not happy with America. Their positions were only to gain a foothold here to establish Islamic banking systems and inside info on our government. My Arab/Christian friends who had been here for generations were very wary. Unfortunately, their warnings were not heeded.

The real question is “If this guy DOES manage to kill someone, how will the MSM describe him…?”

    West African War Refugee?
    Third World Expat?
    Unaffiliated undocumented migrant?
    Homeless person?
    Lost Soul?

You can be assured he will NOT be described as “Yet another fanatic who murdered someone different than him because his Muslim religion told him to!”

He is welcome to come to my house. I have something for him…
