Holland Brazes Itself: Dutch Fear Rising Ethnic Tensions

Last year one question out of Europe was "Is Paris burning?" This year it could become "Is Holland burning?"
In Vlaardingen near Rotterdam, two police officers were wounded recently when they came to the rescue of an ambulance which was attacked by a group of 250 youths. One of the officers was hit by glass, the other was hit in the face. The ambulance was attacked in an immigrant neighborhood when paramedics were taking care of a young man who had been assaulted by other youths.
The Netherlands are bracing themselves for more similar incidents this year. An official report published last week states that the Government has seriously underestimated "tensions between various ethnic and cultural groups of youths."
The report says that the Dutch authorities fail to grasp the gravity of the problem. If nothing is done the country will soon witness situations similar to the French riots of 2005 and 2006 which led
to the police abandoning immigrant suburbs to gangs of Muslim youths. The result of the French ambivalence is that the same gangs have now taken over effective control of more than 750 French urban neighborhoods.
In response to the 2004 assassination of Theo van Gogh by a young Moroccan immigrant the Dutch minister of Integration, Rita Verdonk, installed four so-called “intervention teams for interethnic tensions.” The teams are made up of social workers whose task it is to advise local authorities on ways to deal with groups of unassimilated and criminal youths.
In major Dutch cities today many of the young people are not of indigenous Dutch extraction. In Amsterdam 55% of those under18 are immigrants, mainly Moroccan, Turkish or Antillean (West Indian). In Rotterdam the number has surpassed 50%.
Everywhere in the Netherlands this percentage is rising dramatically. This is paired with the fact that Dutch society has failed to inculcate the children of immigrants with Dutch values. In retrospect, perhaps the latter was simply impossible. There are 1 million Muslims on a total of 16 million inhabitants in the Netherlands. At over 6% of the population this is proportionally the largest Muslim immigrant population of all Western nations — except for France which has 6 million Muslims on a total of 60 million inhabitants. Overall these Muslims are younger than the indigenous population and tend to be concentrated in the cities.
Dick Corporaal, the coordinating president of the Dutch intervention teams, told Dutch national radio that “multicultural tensions between youths threaten to lead to an uncontrollable situation.” Corporaal warned that the problem is not restricted to cities but is also beginning to affect towns in the more rural areas. “The municipal authorities have no idea about what is going on.” He advised the government to devote more funds to youth work and to increase the number of intervention teams. He also accused the local authorities of treating all troublesome youths similarly, while according to him different approaches are needed when confronting the various groups: Moroccans, Antilleans, Turks and “Lonsdale youths” [The latter are indigenous Dutch hooligans].
The intervention teams recommend a similar expansion of the “social worker approach” to defuse the situation. This is a typically Dutch way of doing things, which is widely applied, even among Dutch troops in Afghanistan who prefer to have tea with the Taliban rather than fight them.
Last year the police of The Hague sent officers on a “cultural training” trip to Morocco because, as Gerard Bouman, the The Hague police chief, said, “Criminal Moroccan youths [...] do not behave like indigenous Dutch. They rave about Moroccan culture. Hence, we have to know the latter, too.” In Morocco, the Dutch police officers discovered that their Moroccan colleagues were astonished to hear that the Dutch have problems with criminal Moroccan youths. In Morocco officers just beat the hell out of criminals.
Corporaal’s tepid recommendations, however, do not seem to go down well with many ordinary native Dutch. A poll conducted by Elsevier, the largest Dutch weekly, indicates that 80% of its readers prefer a “harsh treatment” of troublemaking youths rather than “sending in more multicultural intervention teams.”
Meanwhile, in order to reduce tensions between immigrant youths and white native hooligans, a Dutch high school, Hoofdvaart College in Hoofddorp, which lies between Amsterdam and Haarlem, has prohibited the wearing of Lonsdale cloths by pupils.
Lonsdale is a British clothing brand whose sweaters and jackets are said to be popular with the far right because the brand name includes the letters NSDA, one letter short of NSDAP, the German acronym for Hitler’s Nazi Party. According to the school, wearing Lonsdale is a “provocation and is offensive to others.” Two years ago, however, a report of the Dutch state security services found that the majority of those wearing Lonsdale gear are not far right fanatics.
The official Dutch worries about rising hostility in immigrant communities towards the hitherto predominant culture in the Netherlands are also discernible in the fifth annual report of Tjibbe Joustra, the National Anti-Terrorism Coordinator. Late last month the government submitted the report to the Dutch Parliament. Joustra writes that he is especially worried about the rise in so-called “living room marriages” (informal Islamist weddings conducted at home).
This phenomenon is “more widespread” than previously thought, the report says. Last week Joustra’s spokesman said “We knew these weddings occurred in certain circles, but we have indications that they are also on the rise elsewhere.” He referred to a growing group of underage Dutch girls, 16 or 17 years old, who convert to Islam in order to marry young Muslim men with whom they have fallen in love. “The women get isolated from their families. The isolation leads to radicalization.” The report of the National Anti-Terrorism Coordinator says there were a number of “living room marriages” within the Hofstad Group, the circle around Mohammed Bouyeri, Theo van Gogh’s assassin.
Joustra’s report sees the rise of “living room marriages” as one of many indications of the growth of radical Islamism, especially Salafism, in the Netherlands. According to Joustra Salafists are very active among youth groups in the main Dutch cities, but also increasingly in other parts of the country. “We are aware now that young people can radicalize very fast,” Joustra’s spokesman said. “This can happen within a couple of months.”
The growing number of incidents, the reports from social workers and police authorities, are all warnings that the dykes of multiculturalism are about to break and that something must urgently be done to avoid a violent clash. So far, however, apart from forbidding the wearing of certain clothes, the Dutch do not seem to know how to stop the rising tide of fanaticism.

LOL, the writer of this piece must not have been in Holland the last 20 years. Thinking riots like France might happen in the Netherlands is something I could expect from a American but someone based in Brussels should know better.
There are quite alot of fundamental differences between the two that would make such riots extremely unlikely. And although there are problems in NL these problems are in general adressed by the media and are therefore fairly superficial compared to other EU nations.

While comparing the L.A. riots to those “disaffected youth” rioting in Paris makes a point, it’s hardly an accurate comparison for a variety of reasons.
Los Angeles spontaneously erupted in riots, and aside from a couple attempts in a few other areas by insurrectionists to start other conflagrations, (San Francisco and Oakland, I think) which all completely fizzled, the riots in Los Angeles were over after mere days, the violence spent, and destruction mainly limited to Los Angeles.
It was a disturbing outburst, but his was a limited affair with a beginning, a middle, and a conclusive end.
Compare that to France, where the violence erupted ‘spontaneously’ across the nation after Imams in hundreds of mosques fomented the violence — It burned most dramatically in Paris, but there was also chaos and destrucion in HUNDREDS of other cities, towns and village where Muslims reside. In addition to this, the rioting, looting, and firebombings went on for several months lasting the better part of summer and into the Autumn — nor was the violence limited to France alone. Muslims — er — ‘disaffected youth’ rioted in large numbers in Belgium, Holland, and Germany as well.
For years Europeans have pampered their own sense of superiority at America’s expense — now the truth is coming home to roost:
They are far more racist than they admit.
They are far more intolerant and insular than they admit.
They are far worse at assimilating immigrants than America has ever been.
They are far worse at instilling a sense of loyalty and pride in their nations, even among their native born citizens than America has ever been.
And now the outlook for these preening repugnant fools vis-a-vis Islam is very bleak. They have learned nothing from their own history. They trot out their tired old canards — “disaffected youth”, poverty and the Palestinian ‘Situation” are the reasons given – Appeasement is the solution, and they show a craven cowardice instead of resolve.
More talk with Iran. More socialist boondoggles for their furious Muslim parasites. More Islamic immigration — more understanding — more multicultural rape of their heritage for the benefit of barbarians…
There may be time for them to begin expelling all the millions of seditious Muslims in their midst, and to engender pride again in their countrymen for their nation without resorting to rank anti-Americanism to bind them together, but I doubt they have the wisdom, courage, or intelligence to do it.
They are going to burn under the white hot torch of Jihad until they are covered in ashes, where they will cower forever under the jackboot of heinous Islam.

Nothing will happen quickly. The EU already tried to enforce blasphemy laws over the cartoon jihad. Give it time, which doesn’t favor indigenous Europeans.
Your premise, “a 6% minority,” is a gaping hole in your argument, big enough to drive over five babies per immigrant through. I’m guessing this will come to a head when the people imported to work bankrupt the welfare systems of various European nations. There’s almost no defense spending left to cut.
The irony of guest “workers” destroying the social safety net all over the EU hasn’t yet dawned on the architects of the Titanic EU project yet.

While I agree with Morton Doodslag that that comparison is not valid I think the validity between comparing France and Holland is even weaker. That is the argument I am trying to make here. France looks much more like the states in the 80s with Ghetto’s and peripheriques where only minorities live. Whilest in Holland the minorities are much more spread out between the dutch creating a lot more superficial tension and a lot less lingering hate cooked in a “dutch oven”.
And although we have quite a load of problems at least we are facing them head on. There isn’t any americana rethoric that can challenge that.
Import brides has been stopped, Economic asylum seekers have been brought down drastically, strict rules for imams resulting in more imams leaving. And how about the praise are boys are getting in Afganistan, even though some might characterise it as drinking tea with the taliban? These for the main part are warlords that sided with the taliban.

Yes we are all those things. But this just as much your media’s fault as anybody elses.
We have been living with terrorists long before america had ever noticed them (or even stopped supporting them).
And although i don’t like Islam I do know I adhear to freedom. So if Dutch-moslims procreate at an amazing rate and legally start importing other muslims and the caucasian population does not procreate. We are going to have a problem when they are the majority. But how does one fight that without resorting to the same methods used by Hitler in WW2?

Hitler, let’s note, did not face a burgeoning insurgency; he cooked up the notion and played off of new fears of Communism and long-enculturated anti-semitism among Germans and other peoples. The situation in Europe today is quite different.
Europe faces a rapidly expanding hostile minority within its ranks. Their similarities with the Jews are superficial: specifically, the Middle-Eastern origin of their monotheism and their insularity within the larger culture. There the similarities end.
I have considered this problem primarily from the perspective of a US citizen and have not come up with any answers that do not pain the civil libertarian in me. However, I think genocide can be avoided; in fact, I think all -cides can be avoided.
Here it is:
Islam is said to have five pillars. Two if not three must be eliminated. The pillars are: one God whose prophet is Muhammad, daily prayers, almsgiving, fasting, and the hajj.
Leaving the notion of One God out of the equation, the first pillar can be knocked out by asking all would-be citizens to deny the prophethood of Muhammad. Another pillar, the hajj, falls when you declare all visitors of Mecca to be resident therein and to have renounced European citizenship, further prohibiting the entry of hajjis into Europe, or at least forcing true hajjis to deny this peak religious experience.
But we don’t really want to eliminate prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, do we? No, so we will have to go after certain Islamic customs. Shari’a, first of all, must be outlawed by constitutional amendment affirming the common law. Further, specific culturally ubiquitous elements of the shari’a must be outlawed, such as the burqha. Citizens might be required to deny the authority of the Koran in temporal matters. Everyone must smile and kiss a pig at a large fun ceremony in the center of town.
I’m embarassed to even suggest such things, honestly. It’s like a Jim Crow for Muslims. The difference is that the civil rights movement in the South was virtually non-violent, at least regarding violence perpetrated by members of the movement; they certainly endured plenty of violence perpetrated by whites! More radical movements, like the Black Panther Party, had their origins and recruiting successes outside the South, and they never really caught on even there. Ultimately, I think the reason for this is that blacks and whites were more similar than they knew, having lived alongside one another for hundreds of years, mostly sharing the same or similar religious beliefs.
Europe is very secular, I realize, but its history and culture is emphatically Christian and citizens should be required to endorse this concept as well, whether or not they subscribe to the Church or any of its offshoots (of which Islam may be one.) And ultimately, Islam is an alien force that would overturn all of European history and culture, and which means it when they say, “By any means necessary.”
There is another possibility: Reconquista. I honestly think that’s what it will take. This makes me sad because it means much of what is lovely about Europe will be wiped out or at least trampled while the Muslim minority lords it over the native people. What happened in Spain will happen again and a new Europe will someday rise, free of its erstwhile Visigothic and Islamic overlords.
